00:00Hello there, a very good evening to you. A new week is upon us, but the weather is very much
00:05keeping the same theme we've seen throughout this previous one. It's looking to be another
00:10wet one with plenty of rain pushing through. These are the rainfall totals over the next
00:14few days, and in particular looking at parts of southern England as well as northeastern
00:18Scotland to be seeing a lot of rainfall, both regions that have already been very wet throughout
00:232026 so far. So this extra rainfall does bring the potential for exacerbating some of the
00:29flooding impacts that we have seen around of late. So it's worth staying up to date with all
00:33the latest details, particularly any warnings that may be issued. You can, of course, do that on the
00:38app and the website. For now then, we do have some rain across parts of central, southeastern England
00:44on Sunday evening as well as into the far northeast of Scotland, where it could be heavy at times.
00:49Particularly in the northeast, this is accompanied by some very strong winds, gale-strength gusts for
00:53the northern isles overnight. It's a bit calmer out towards the west, parts of Northern Ireland,
00:57southern Wales and southwest England seeing some clear skies, but underneath that we'll see frost,
01:02freezing fog and icy stretches forming as temperatures dip away. But further towards the
01:07east, where we hold on to the clouds, temperatures will be a shade higher overnight, but still relatively
01:12misty and murky in places. As we do move into Monday, it's going to be fairly grey for many.
01:19This rain in the northeast will persist throughout. Parts of northwestern Scotland probably seeing the
01:24best of some of those brighter spells around, but really, the cloud is going to build in for many
01:28of us with patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle. Rain pushing into the aisles of Scilly, up into
01:33Cornwall as well as we head into the afternoon period and the breeze strengthening here later on.
01:38Temperatures on Monday generally peaking at around 6 to 9 degrees Celsius, which is roughly where we'd
01:43expect them to be for the start of February. Into Monday evening, we'll be focusing on this area of rain
01:50as it does continue to push its way northwards and there's a yellow rain warning in force for Cornwall,
01:54southern Devon and up into Somerset and Dorset. This particularly, where we see 50 to 60 millimetres
02:00of rain over the higher ground, really could lead to some further flooding issues and so it's worth
02:04taking care here. That gradually pushing northwards into more central regions by the end of Tuesday
02:09night. Temperatures here roughly around 5 to 7 degrees Celsius underneath that cloud. In the north
02:14though, it will be turning colder, so certainly low single figures, if not some patches of frost
02:19around in some sheltered regions and we'll start to see more in the way of hill snow developing
02:23overnight into the Grampians, potentially as low as 200 metres in elevation, that snow reaching
02:28perhaps some sleety stuff to lower levels across the likes of Orkney and Shetland as well.
02:34Into Tuesday, our weather setup sees this blocking area of high pressure at Scandinavia very much
02:40rooted in play and we've still got low pressure out towards the southwest towards the Atlantic and
02:46these are butting in against each other. In between that though, those tight squeeze on the
02:51isobars bringing some quite brisk southeasterly winds and that is starting to filter in some
02:55slightly colder conditions from areas of Europe pushing into this northern area of the UK and
03:01that's why we're going to start to see that snow falling to lower levels over the mountains of
03:05Scotland but also that colder air really setting itself in. The rain in the south will continue its
03:11way northwards and we could see a little bit of hill snow over the likes of Erre and parts of Wales as
03:15well, perishing into other central regions as we head towards the end of Tuesday, rather wet end
03:20of the day. Parts of Northern Ireland staying drier but relatively cloudy. It's once again going to be
03:25parts of the northwest highlands over towards the Outer Hebrides where we could see some more in the
03:29way of those limited, brighter, if not sunnier spells around at times. Temperatures in the south
03:35with this rain moving in will be around 8 to 10 degrees Celsius, relatively similar to the day
03:41before but you'll see where that colder air really is starting to dig in across the north and the
03:45northeast so really quite chilly out there. Highs only of 2 to 3 degrees Celsius but feeling even
03:51colder than that when you factor in the strength of those winds that are coming in off the North Sea.
03:57Plenty of weather around as we head over the next few days so as I mentioned do stay up to date with all
04:02the details across our website, app and social media channels and we'll of course be back on YouTube
04:08as well so do subscribe for all the latest details there and we'll see you again soon. Bye bye.
