00:00Governments, social and political organizations and peoples around the world have expressed
00:11strong support for Cuba and its right to defense its sovereignty and national security in the
00:16face of aggressive escalation by the United States. In the United States, a federal judge
00:23on Saturday denied the state of Minnesota's request to compel the U.S. Immigration and
00:28Costas Enforcement Agency to sustain its immigration rate. Turkey accused Israel of
00:36undermining peace efforts by carrying out new attacks on the Gaza Strip on Saturday.
00:41Hello and welcome to From the South from the headquarters of Tolis Ringlich in Havana,
00:50Cuba. My name is Pablo Micheliche. We begin with the news. Stay with us.
00:58Governments, social and political organizations and peoples around the world have expressed
01:10strong support for Cuba and its right to defense its sovereignty and national security in the
01:16face of aggressive escalation by the United States. Leaders from the BRICS nations, the
01:21Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our America and several members of the Non-Ally movement
01:26have reiterated that Cuba does not pose a threat to any country. They warned that the true source
01:32of tensions comes from Washington's aggressive policies. Also, political and social organizations,
01:37human rights and peace movements, as well as indigenous groups, affirm that Cuba remains
01:43a symbol of resistance, dignity and anti-imperialist solidarity. They expressed that far from being
01:49a danger to the world. The island faces threats, primarily from persistent U.S. harassment and
01:55pressure, particularly under the Trump Administration's agenda.
01:58In Cuba, President Miguel Díaz-Canel participated in a tactical exercise as part of the third
02:12National Defense Day in January. The defensive exercise focused on preparing to the military
02:18theater of operations with the participation of members of production and defense brigades
02:25and other areas. In this context, President Díaz-Canel also recalled of the main concepts of the
02:32war strategy of the whole people, which is that every Cuban has a role, a place and a means
02:38in the defense. Moreover, members of the Political Bureau were also present at the activities supporting
02:43the concept of war. In Mexico, the government assured that it will not stop sending humanitarian
02:56aid to Cuba, ratifying its policy of sovereignty and international cooperation. The position was
03:02confirmed by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Juan Ramón de la Fuente, during the Morena Party's
03:07plenary meeting in the Chamber of Deputies. In this context, the Foreign Minister defended the
03:12right of people to receive solidarity in times of need. Moreover, de la Fuente declared that
03:17Mexico does not accept the prohibition of humanitarian aid to any country and emphasized that his nation
03:24will continue to exercise this principle independently without submitting to external pressures.
03:30This statement comes in the context of the intensification of the economic blockade
03:34imposed by the United States on Cuba for more than six decades.
03:42Mexico does not accept that there is no humanitarian aid when any country in the world requires it,
03:55and we will continue to exercise this because it is also the mechanism that allows us to keep the dialogue
04:01alive, and the mechanism that allows us to send the message to the peoples who require it. Mexico will
04:08always do everything in its power to ensure that humanitarian aid arrives when it is needed,
04:14as we have already demonstrated in the past.
04:20Some natural events have created complex situations in our country. Humanitarian aid has always been the
04:28president's first instruction and the first to arrive. What happens in Mexico and helps us. We want to happen everywhere.
04:41Haiti is experiencing an alarming spike in cases of sexual violence committed by criminal groups and
04:47gangs exacerbating the crisis currently facing the Caribbean nation. According to a report provided by the
04:52humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières, a world increase in violence has been revealed in the
04:59island capital Port-au-Prince with 57% of total sexual assaults committed by armed guns. In this regard,
05:06the organization alerted of a triplet of cases going from about 95 monthly in 2021 to more than 250 in 2025.
05:17Médecins Sans Frontières states that among the main consequences are the crisis,
05:22the forced displacement of 1.4 million people and the acquisition of power by criminal groups,
05:28while calling on the international community to take concrete measures to protect the population.
05:40And now we have a short break coming up, but first remember you can join us on TikTok at
05:43Telstra English, where you will find news in different formats, news updates and much more.
05:48We will be right back, stay with us.
05:59Welcome back. The Venezuelan government is promoting a general amnesty law with the aim of healing wounds
06:05and strengthening national coexistence. Acting President Delsi Rodriguez left the solemn session
06:11on the occasion of the opening of judicial activities for the year 2026 and the presentation of the
06:17management report corresponding to 2025. The event marks the formal start of the judicial year and
06:23reaffirms the Venezuelan state's commitment to institutional strengthening and transparency and
06:28the administration of justice. Rodriguez also emphasized that the proposal seeks to address crimes
06:33stemming from political violence that have occurred from 1999 to the present, excluding those committed of
06:40homicide, corruption, drug trafficking and serious human rights violations. She further reaffirmed that
06:46the legal instrument will be submitted to the National Assembly to initiate a nationwide consultation
06:51process aimed at restoring justice and promoting coexistence among Venezuelans.
07:02Also in Venezuela, a large mobilization was made in solidarity with President Nicolás Maduro
07:07and the First Lady Siria Flores. In the community of Santa Rosalia, men and women mobilized with flags
07:14reappearing their unweathering commitment to their country and Bolivarian ideas. The protesters also
07:20expressed their full support for Acting President Delsi Rodriguez and ratified their willingness to continue
07:26the struggle to build the country while keeping alive the hope and demand for the soon return of the
07:31legitimate presidential couple.
07:48In Venezuela, almost four weeks after a U.S. bombing hit a naval school and nearby homes in La Guaira during the kidnapping of Venezuela's
07:53President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Siria Flores, residents gathered Saturday night outside the site for a non-imperialist rally. More details with our correspondent
08:05It's been four weeks since the U.S. government bombed a naval school and adjoining residential neighborhood in the coastal city of La Guaira during its kidnapping of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Siria Flores.
08:19On Saturday night, a large crowd of local residents gathered on the seaside in front of the school in an event called the Anti-Imperialist Tribune.
08:27They do not accept that this world has already changed and that this world does not want to be dominated by anyone. We do not accept a hegemonic power. This is a world that needs diversity. We believe in freedom. We believe in the sovereignty and independence of other countries. We understand that each country deserves to have its own sovereignty respected.
08:51Both collectively and in individual conversations, members of the crowd expressed their indignation with the kidnappings which violated all international norms. After a concert which featured anti-imperialist folk songs, they watched a light show conducted by thousands of drones which hovered above the naval school that was attacked by U.S. government forces on January 3rd.
09:16Supposedly, in Venezuela there is coca cultivation and this is where the Aragua train comes from. No, here we have oil, here we have gold, here we have minerals, here we have wealth which belongs to us, Venezuelans, which is the future for our children.
09:36What about Yankee imperialism? What about Yankee imperialism? We are not going to tell the President of the United States how he should run his country. So he has no right to come here and take the President of the Venezuelans elected to govern us.
09:51Meanwhile, the specter of the United States' imperialism continues to haunt the Americas.
09:58Now in the United States. A federal judge on Saturday denied the state of Minnesota's request to compel the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency to suspend its immigration rates.
10:13The ruling was issued by Judge Catherine Mendes, who refused to block the increase in immigration enforcement measures under Operation Metro Search.
10:21In her decision, Mendes wrote that the court found the balance of harms did not decisively favor granting a preliminary injunction, meaning the legal standard for an immediate hold to the operation had not been met.
10:35Over the past month, thousands of federal agents, many of them masked, have carried out multiple raids across Minnesota, prompting widespread protests that intensified after the death of two individuals at the hands of federal agents.
10:48The ruling comes after a massive demonstration on Friday in Minnesota with attempts of thousands of protesters against the immigration enforcement operation.
10:58Also in the United States, on Friday, the cities of Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Portland joined the protest against the immigration police of President Donald Trump.
11:14The protests began on Friday and will continue through Sunday. They include the participation of students, workers and merchants who seek to slow down the local economy as a strike measure and demand accountability for knives.
11:29These protests are spreading from the West Coast to the East Coast, showing strong support for immigrant communities and calling for systematic change in the face of what they consider racist policies.
11:50Italy stages a series of protests against the presence of U.S. ice engines during the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan Cortina D'Ampezzo.
12:04Called by the Mass Europa Party, dozens of people gathered in the streets of Milan and shunted slogans such as Not Twice in Italy and Milan Cortina, these are not your games.
12:17Protests are expected to continue for several days, given the Italian government's insistence on requesting the cooperation of the United States Federal Force.
12:25For the part, the Milan authorities have labelled ICE agents unwelcome due to reports of excessive use of force and the killing of two U.S. citizens during protests.
12:35Hundreds of Danish veterans protest in front of the U.S. embassy in Copenhagen in rejection of Donald Trump's claims to take over Greenland.
12:48Danish veterans say they feel betrayed and ridiculed by the Trump administration, which they claim disregards their contributions in combat zones.
12:57Protesters also assert that the White House is ignoring Greenland's rights to self-determination territory of Denmark.
13:04In addition, they reject President Trump's statement that Denmark is unable to protect Western interests in the Arctic.

13:32Welcome back.
13:48Turkey accused Israel of undermining peace efforts by carrying out new attacks on the Gaza Strip on Saturday.
13:54Turkey denounced the Sunni's regime for undermining international efforts to achieve stability in the Gaza Strip after carrying out a series of attacks over the last few days.
14:04Afterwards, the Ministry of Health of the Palestinian enclave reported that these Israeli airstrives on the Gaza Strip left at least 26 people killed and 30 injured.
14:14These attacks took place while a peace progress for Gaza was on the way.
14:19In this context, Foreign Ministry of Turkey urged the international community to completely fulfill its responsibility to advance the peace process.
14:33Now in Pakistan, only 33 people were killed in a series of coordinated suicide and gun attacks in Balochistan province on Saturday,
14:40with insurgents targeting both civilians and security installations.
14:44The Pakistani military reported that also 92 insurgents were killed in subsequent clashes.
14:50According to military sources, the attacks were carried out by Baloch separatists,
14:55who have long waged a violent campaign for independence or greater autonomy in the resource-rich region.
15:01The attacks targeted at high-security prisons, police stations, paramilitary facilities and civilian areas in a series of coordinated assaults.
15:10Military officials described the attacks as terrorist acts aimed at destabilizing the region and pledged continued operations against insurgent groups.
15:20This deadly escalation in Balochistan comes amid broader concerns over rising militant attacks across Pakistan
15:27as the government faces increasing pressure to address security challenges and political instability.
15:40Firing had already started from all sides, and people were running away.
15:44Due to that gunfire, one policeman seemed to be killed while another was injured.
15:49With the help of a friend, I lifted the injured policeman and took him to the anti-terrorist force training center.
15:56After completing the formalities there, first aid was given to the injured officer.
16:01When I stepped outside the ADF center, on my way back, I was also hit by a bullet.
16:08The sound of gunfire was heard. As soon as my cousin stepped outside the house, he was hit by a bullet.
16:18Gunshots were still going on. On Saryat, Cambrani Road, wherever you go, you will find these attackers, like there is no one to hold them accountable.
16:29China and Algeria strengthen their space cooperation with the launch of a remote sensing satellite
16:36that will enable the African country to improve its land use planning.
16:41The Asian giant successfully launched the satellite for Algeria on board the Long Mars 2C rocket,
16:47placing it in orbit and strengthening space collaboration between the two nations.
16:52Furthermore, China's efforts will enable Algeria to improve land use planning
16:57and natural disaster prevention.
17:00In turn, on the occasion of the launch, President Xi Jinping and Adelmajid Tebun
17:06exchanges congratulatory messages highlighting the importance of this joint project in strengthening bilateral ties.
17:27In China, in the city of Tianjin, the International Lantern Festival lights up the knives with monumental handcrafted lanterns
17:41that fuse tradition with modern art. Let's see.
17:44Shukzi Park, located in the Chinese city of Tianjin, shines with monumental iron and silk lantern.
17:59Amid the cold, the 2026 Tianjin International Lantern Festival honors the city's cultural heritage and the skill of national and international artisans who blend traditional aesthetics with modern techniques.
18:13This festival of pharoles
18:20This Lantern Festival incorporated many elements of Tianjin, such as the Tianjin Daffing and the Tianjin Eye, among other iconic landmarks.
18:28It far exceeded my expectations and was incredibly beautiful.
18:32As soon as I entered, I was astonished by the giant lantern at the entrance. I couldn't believe there were lanterns so huge, especially the one with a statue of a goddess that could even blink. It was absolutely incredible.
18:49With more than 250,000 square meters
18:56The route guides visitors through an open-air gallery where the imposing sculptures evoke elements of the collective memory of local visitor.
19:07Gastronomy, mythological figures, and scenes from popular folklore, transform the space into a corridor where the past converges with the present.
19:18These lanterns, both large and small, reflect Tianjin's cuisine, drinks, and entertainment. You can truly appreciate the essence of Tianjin through them. Visiting the Lantern Festival and then exploring the city helps people understand Tianjin more deeply.
19:40I just left the Lantern Festival, and I feel that this year's addition is truly different from the previous ones. There were all kinds of lanterns, many representing Tianjin's iconic landmarks, including buildings, the Tianjin Eye, and the old yellow taxis we used to ride as children, bicycles, and even kites from our childhood. It's full of Tianjin's culture, which makes it very special. I plan to bring my family back during Chinese New Year.
20:08The lights of the Tianjin International Lantern Festival culminate the Chinese New Year in a warm and colorful cultural display, inviting the public to celebrate the city's identity, culture, and artistic creativity.
