00:00We're at the homestretch of what's been an incredibly hot week where regions in inland New South Wales like Wagga Wagga have been experiencing some sweltering conditions.
00:11The Bureau of Meteorology has confirmed we saw some record-breaking temperatures this week where we saw the peak of the heat on Wednesday for many regions.
00:20Tibubara saw some of the hottest temperatures where it peaked at 48.7, the town of Hay at 48.4 and unusually even Perisha where many people head down for the snow in the wintertime reach records of 30.6 degrees.
00:36Wagga didn't quite reach those record temperatures but today is the seventh day in a row where the town is expected to surpass 40 degrees, a first for the town since the 1930s.
00:46And after today, it's expected people will get some relief with temperatures expected to drop to the 20s and 30s.
00:54In Wagga Wagga, many people have been coming down to the beach to cool down this week.
00:59Some people are using this time for some fun in the sun but others are ready for a cool change.
01:05Here's what some of the locals had to say.
01:07It's been brutal, it's been very hot but coming down for a swim helps.
01:12Me and my dad normally go just down here in the morning and have a little dip.
01:19I come along here every day for a couple of hours in the afternoon.
01:23First thing I do is jump in the water, fully clothed, get nice and cool and that's my air conditioning for the rest of the walk.
01:29Staying in the shade, yeah, getting to the beach, it's actually really nice down here so getting in the water.
01:34Inland New South Wales has seen some incredible examples of good community spirit this week
01:40from services handing out water for the homeless, people checking in on the elderly
01:44and locals leaving water out for wildlife and stray animals.
01:48And with temperatures still soaring today, the advice from health authorities still remains
01:53in that you should not get complacent, make sure to stay hydrated
01:56and of course don't stay out too long in the sun unless you're at Wagga Beach or any other beach
02:01and you're about to go for a dip.
