00:00A sticky day across the state with the knowledge it'll get hotter.
00:07It's hot for sure. Not coping much at all to be honest.
00:12While the west is beginning to cool the heat wave is moving east and parts expected to swelter.
00:19So the heat really peaking in the southeast over the next day or two.
00:22We're likely to see temperatures both overnight and during the afternoon hitting 3 to 8 degrees above the average.
00:28We may even see a few places pushing more about 10 degrees above average.
00:31And bushfires are now a concern.
00:33Extreme fire danger ratings are forecast for the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district on the Thursday due to a brief burst of dry and gusty winds.
00:41It wasn't just humans feeling the heat. At Brockhampton Zoo even animals sought relief.
00:46A normally temperate Toowoomba was hit with a humid blast.
00:50They're having a great time splashing in the water and just playing around with each other.
00:54On the Gold Coast schoolies soaked up the sun.
00:57The weather up here is great so yeah finally first day at the beach actually so yeah we're loving it.
01:02The beach is so cold so it's a bit refreshing to sort of wake up.
01:06The mercury has soared in Longreach stopping just short of 46 degrees.
01:12But it didn't stop the 101st annual fire trials.
01:16It just makes us work harder I guess I don't know.
01:18We hydrate during the event.
01:20We just look after it.
01:21It's part of living life out in the west.
01:23With the heatwave continuing so too will the storms.
01:26Power is still cut off to many after days of damaging winds and giant hailstones in the southeast.
01:32All right.
