00:00Three Immigration Department officers have been charged over their alleged involvement
00:06in counter-setting activities. Shamsul Hezam Sudin, aged 50, Muhammad Asraf Tukiman, 48,
00:14and Rohaya Hamza, 39, faced their trials at the Johor Bahru Sessions Court on Tuesday.
00:20They pleaded not guilty to the charges related to violation of the Immigration Act and criminal
00:25breach of trust involving club funds. Shamsul was accused of agreeing to receive 8,000 ringgit
00:31from a person in exchange for endorsement of Malaysian entry and exit stamps without the
00:37physical presence of passport holders in July last year. Asraf was charged with three counts
00:43of agreeing to receive 6,490 ringgit as inducement for the same purpose in May and June last
00:50year. Rohaya, an assistant immigration superintendent who served as treasurer of a sports and recreational
00:57club for immigration staff, was charged with criminal breach of trust involving 61,300 ringgit
01:05in club funds between January and November in 2023. The court set bail at 8,000 ringgit for Shamsul
01:13and 10,000 ringgit each for Asraf and Rohaya, with one surety each respectively.
