00:00The Immigration Department arrested 13 foreigners for operating illegal homestays during a raid

00:07along Jalan Ipoh and Jalan Sultan Ismail on Tuesday, following two weeks of surveillance.

00:13Those detained included 10 Bangladeshis, one Indonesian, one Indian and one Filipino, aged

00:20between 24 and 40.

00:22They are believed to have acted as homestay agents.

00:26Deputy Director General of Immigration in Management Ismail Mokhtar said six of them held temporary

00:31work permits for the construction and cleaning sectors, while the rest had no valid documents.

00:38The group is believed to have run the homestay business for about a year, renting units from

00:43local owners and taking bookings online.

00:46All suspects were taken to the Putrajaya Immigration Department for further action.

00:52Six Malaysians and a Bangladeshi have also been called in to assist with the investigation.
