00:00So just outside Charlotte, this is an area called Ballantyne, a very trendy part of Charlotte.
00:05And folks so far have been trying to make lemonade out of lemons.
00:09So you can see there's some folks that have been trying to sled in this snowy mix.
00:13And that's kind of what we've been dealing with.
00:15There has been all kinds of wintry weather mix.
00:18We've had sleet, we've had freezing rain, and we've had good old-fashioned snow.
00:21But the main event that is headed into this area in the next 12 hours is what we're really concerned with,
00:26in terms of how much ice is going to accumulate around here, and then the subsequent power outages.
00:32We talked to some folks, like I mentioned, that were from South Africa, having a good time out here, enjoying this snow.
00:39I love it. Once again, I've never experienced anything like this before.
00:43And the fact that more people aren't out here enjoying this experience is kind of unbelievable.
00:49But just the weather, I love the cold and the snow. This is just perfect, really.
00:55Now, of course, officials are saying to stay off the roads here in the Charlotte area for the rest of today,
01:00and probably even into Monday.
01:02We did see a couple of planes take off from Charlotte International.
01:06We're sure those will be very limited as we get into the day and that freezing rain comes in.
01:12For now, no folks are trying to get out very sparsely as we head through with the thick of this ice storm to come.
01:20Reporting from Charlotte, North Carolina, I'm Leslie Hudson for Hockey Weather.
