00:00One of the best resumes in all of football is being constructed as we're watching these championship games and it's on the Ram side with Sean McVay yesterday was Sean McVay's 40th birthday and I want to go down the list of accomplishments of what this guy has done as he gets ready to play the Seattle Seahawks.
00:19I mean folks he's already a Super Bowl champion coach. He's a 2017 NFL coach of the year. He's got two NFC championships and he is going for a third four time NFC West champion. He's reached the playoffs seven of the nine seasons. He's got eight winning seasons and on top of that he's going today for his 11th win as an NFL head coach in the postseason.
00:48The youngest head coach at the hire. I think he was 31 years of age. He's the youngest head coach to win a Super Bowl. And as I just mentioned here you're talking about a coach who's going for his 11th win.
01:00I have never seen a guy build such a resume in an era of free agency. You got to remember something when Don Shula was building his leg legendary resume or when you're looking at even Belichick.
01:14Bill Belichick built his resume and again no question about it. One of the greatest resumes of all time in New England. But here's a guy here was 31 years of age. And as I said I met this guy when he was a ball boy for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
01:30Then he became a quality control guy. How he got the job if you remember correctly was the fact that Doug Williams was working in the Tampa Bay organization.
01:42He ends up going up Doug Williams to the Washington Commanders organization. They say we got to hire this guy. This guy's a savant.
01:50They put him on the staff. He ends up working there with Jay Gruden, John Gruden's brother. So he's on that coaching staff and he slowly works up the reign of being a great coach.
02:04People don't know the behind story here with Sean McVeigh. Initially Stan Kroenke wanted John Gruden to be the head football coach of the Los Angeles Rams when he ended up moving the team from St.
02:15Louis to Los Angeles to Los Angeles. And John Gruden said, you know, I'm still in the booth. I'm enjoying myself on Monday Night Football. I got a guy for you. He's young, but I believe this guy's going to be a superstar coach.
02:30Sure enough, Leslie, Kevin Demoff and Stan Kroenke, the owner of the team and the executives of the Rams, they interview him and they're blown away by the guy.
02:39I can't believe that this guy is this young and this much knowledge. You got to remember his grandfather's John McVeigh. Who was John McVeigh?
02:49John McVeigh was the architect with Bill Walsh of those great teams back in the day in San Francisco that would go on to win all those championships under the Ed DeBartolo reign.
02:59And so he grew up in football. He knows football. He's been around it. The job that he has done in Los Angeles.
03:08Remember, and I love his initial hire at D.C. Remember, it was Wade Phillips. This guy does this. Then Raheem Morris came in. Raheem Morris ends up winning a championship.
03:19That's how he ended up getting the job in Atlanta.
03:22Sean McVeigh is one of the best play callers and situational play callers I've ever seen at such a young age.
03:30Matt LaFleur, fantastic, was also in that Washington coaching staff back in the day.
03:35So many of those coaches you see in the NFL right now, Sean McVeigh was in that room with those guys.
03:42One of the truly greatest resumes you'll ever see.
03:45And if he wins today, this will be his 11th postseason win.
03:51Again, you're talking the early stages of Don Shula.
03:56You're talking the early stages of Bill Belichick and some of the greatest coaches of all time.
04:03It is remarkable.
04:05He's 40 years old yesterday.
04:08I mean, you got guys on his football team right now.
04:12I mean, Matthew Stafford is 37 years old.
04:14It's incredible, the job that he's done.
04:18And what I love about it, when you watch, and people have said this, look at how they use Puka Nakua.
04:25Look at how they've been able to reinvent again Devontae Adams after that nightmare that he had with the Jets and also with the Raiders.
04:34One of the best and most prolific passing games in pro football.
04:39Puka Nakua, look at what he's done with him.
04:42You heard Adam Kaplan on earlier with us, and he said it, if he's anywhere else, okay, if Puka Nakua is anywhere else, he's not going to have the type of success.
