00:10Heat tonight.
00:10They're on a West Coast road trip.
00:12Heat tonight, 10 p.m. tip, which means 8.45 pre-heat
00:17with Alejandro Solana.
00:20Heat right now through 43 games, Solana, are 22 and 21.
00:26They're the eight seed.
00:28They lost to Golden State last night.
00:29No Steph, right?
00:31Steph played.
00:32Oh, we did play?
00:32Draymond Green was out.
00:33Okay.
00:34And then obviously we know Jimmy Butler was lost for the season
00:38for Golden State.
00:39What is the best case scenario for the heat in the second half
00:44of the season?
00:45Because I'm kind of looking at who they are and what we thought
00:49they were, and maybe we all got fooled a little bit by the run
00:52at the beginning.
00:53And I was trying to figure out what's the best case scenario
00:56for the second half of the season.
01:00Trade deadline.
01:01Well, that was one of my options.
01:04Like, I was thinking to myself, is the best case scenario,
01:07you get back to that scoring punch and it comes together again
01:13for a second phase the way that it did,
01:16and maybe you're the five or six seed, or maybe you get the four seed,
01:20or is the best case scenario, they say, it ain't this,
01:25and we've got to make some changes.
01:29You can go, Solana.
01:31You probably know my opinion, but what do you think?
01:35No, I don't think my opinion would differ wildly from either
01:40of your opinions.
01:41Look, through 41 games, you were 21 and 20, the exact same spot
01:44you were last year.
01:45I mean, there are some bright spots.
01:47You beat Phoenix at home.
01:48That's a really good Western Conference team.
01:50You beat Oklahoma City the other night.
01:52That's a really good Western Conference team,
01:54but the flip side to that is teams like Sacramento blew you out.
01:58The other night, last night, in Golden State, you got blown out,
02:02and your best player in BAM regresses once again.
02:05Best case scenario, in my mind, if they keep the roster intact,
02:09Hawk, they don't make changes, would be maybe finishing better than 21 and 20,
02:15the remaining 41 games.
02:17They're one and one through the first two.
02:19But yeah, six seed, in my mind, right now, from what I've seen,
02:23is best case scenario.
02:24And maybe first round, you get a favorable matchup, maybe,
02:30and you can get to the second round.
02:31But this team's not contending for a title this year.
02:35And I'd be hard-pressed to find Heat fans who aren't saying,
02:41why not look to move some guys who would have some value at the trade deadline
02:46to truly make this, what Spoke called it coming into the year,
02:50a developmental year.
02:51Because you're in a position now where they're trying to win games,
02:54and the guys you want to develop,
02:57Kalil Ware, are playing 16 minutes a game.
03:00And I don't know how favorable that is when, ultimately, best case scenario,
03:06in my mind, your second round exit.
03:08Right.
03:09And that's what I would say.
03:11It's kind of what we talked about with the Dolphins earlier,
03:13where, Solana, you're saying,
03:14don't go seven and nine.
03:18Like, it's a waste of time.
03:20If you're going to be bad, be bad and build.
03:23So that's my thing.
03:24Triple J, even Tyler Hero, those guys,
03:28like, they're not going to take you over the top.
03:30So if they have some value right now,
03:32I think Triple J, I think Kalil Ware, being as young as he is,
03:35try to move something around and plan for the future with them.
03:39Why get the 6C?
03:40To your point, Solana, get the 6C losing the second round.
03:42Why do that?
03:44Get in the play-in, get whooped by somebody,
03:46and let's build for the future,
03:47because this roster is not going to compete
03:50with those top teams in the NBA right now.
03:546C is maybe 5C.
03:56Like, that's best case scenario.
03:58And look, they're just not healthy.
04:00Tyler has a rib injury right now.
04:02This season's toast for him.
04:04I mean, we don't even – and the injuries he's had are just like –
04:07he had surgery with an extra bone in his foot
04:10he didn't even know about.
04:11Then he has a toe contusion that keeps him out another stretch of games.
04:16And then now he's not even traveling.
04:17And again, it's like a pain tolerance thing with this rib contusion that he has.
04:22And you don't know.
04:24So now he's played five games starting with Norman Powell.
04:29Like, is it ever going to work?
04:30It worked for one game.
04:32Thus far – look, what I think they want to do
04:35is make a push for Giannis next offseason.
04:38That Giannis is just going to be done with Milwaukee and he's going to want to move.
04:42And in my opinion, the best way to do that is to send Milwaukee a boatload of picks
04:48that right now the Miami Heat do not have.
04:50And how do you get picks at this deadline?
04:54You move some of the guys that could maybe garner you some picks.
04:58I don't think the Heat are going to do that.
04:59I don't think they're going to trade Norm.
05:01I don't think they're going to trade Tyler.
05:02I don't think they will.
05:04But if you really think Giannis is an opportunity in the offseason –
05:09It's like what they did with LeBron.
05:10You've got to start planning for it a year and a half way out.
05:14And that would signify to me that, hey, we're stockpiling picks for a reason
05:22and we're going to take another swing.
05:23Because, man, I love Norm.
05:26I think he's perfect for the Miami Heat.
05:28Really, I do.
05:30But you're going to pay him in the offseason to do what?
05:33To be this?
05:34This, right.
05:36And letting him walk for nothing, in my opinion, would be a grave mistake.
05:41So I think they're going to be active at the deadline to try to improve this roster.
05:46I just don't know how realistic it is.
05:48Or how much more improvement you can see.
05:51And do you maybe take on –
05:53People are talking about Kaminga.
05:55I'm just throwing it out because he's been tied to the Heat.
05:57So you take on that contract.
05:59You just got an extension.
06:00And perhaps hinder your opportunity to remain flexible if Giannis becomes available.
06:06Or you're looking at –
06:07The Clippers might want to punt.
06:08Maybe Kawhi.
06:09I don't know.
06:09I'm just throwing names out there.
06:11But the NBA isn't how it was a couple years ago where, okay, 2028,
06:15we'll have cap space and there's going to be free agents.
06:17It's not like that anymore.
06:18You have to trade for the whale.
06:20And how do you trade for the whale?
06:21You either send a whale like the Mavericks did, which is still the dumbest trade ever,
06:26or you have six first-round picks at your disposal that you can move.
06:30And right now the Heat don't.
