00:00So Tampa, Cincinnati, and the Angels were all in agreement on a three-team trade.
00:05So Josh Lowe goes to Anaheim, the outfielder that was previously with the Tampa Bay Rays.
00:10Gavin Lux goes from Cincinnati to Tampa Bay.
00:13And Chris Clark goes from Anaheim to Tampa Bay.
00:16And then Brock Burke goes from L.A. to the Cincinnati Reds.
00:21So the Reds get a left-handed reliever.
00:24Gavin Lux is a Tampa Bay Ray.
00:25And Josh Lowe is an L.A. Angel.
00:27What matters most to you among those three?
00:31Josh Lowe to the Angels.
00:33I think he's the best player included in this deal.
00:35And we were talking about the Angels outfield and how it might start to look like a bunch of D.H.'s out there.
00:42And what are they going to do and how they needed a left-handed outfielder.
00:47And they got one in Josh Lowe, who I know I think you agree.
00:50And I know Arum would definitely agree that still so much potential, you know, in that bat.
00:54They didn't have to give up that much.
00:56But I think another big winner from this trade is none of the other three teams.
01:01It's the Dodgers.
01:02And I know that sounds awful, but it's the truth.
01:05And you know why?
01:06The Dodgers got Mike Sirota in exchange for Gavin Lux just a year ago.
01:11Mike Sirota was drafted originally or not.
01:15Was he drafted originally by the Dodgers?
01:17I know he was scouted.
01:18And then he went to the Reds and the Dodgers ID'd him as a guy that they wanted to bring in.
01:23They bring him in.
01:24And now he's a top 50 prospect in baseball, according to Arum's top 100, which you can find on justbaseball.com.
01:31And the Reds, you trade a potential top 50 prospect.
01:36And I say potential.
01:37He is right now.
01:38For one year of Gavin Lux, it didn't really work out.
01:41And now you bring in a left-handed reliever in Block Burke, who I like.
01:45Burke has had a big kind of, how do I describe just a big velo uptick?
01:50I wanted to call it a renaissance because he was throwing 99 to 100 miles an hour, right?
01:56A velo uptick is like 94 to 95.
01:58This guy is going all the way up to 99 to 100 miles an hour.
02:02Right.
02:02He's reinventing himself.
02:03Yeah.
02:03So I like bringing in Burke, but when you rewind the tape a little bit to just a year ago,
02:11you basically gave up Mike Sirota for 0.3 F4 Gavin Lux, and now you get Brock Burke.
02:18Counter is, I don't think they care about the optic perspective of that.
02:23I don't think they do either.
02:24I just think that's the result.
02:26Right.
02:27Especially on the heels of their failed pursuit of Tucker and the reasoning behind,
02:31or not Tucker, Schwarber, and their reasoning behind their pursuit of Kyle Schwarber.
02:36Mike Sirota, by the way, was a Dodger draft pick out of high school.
02:4016th round pick in 2021.
02:42He opted to go to Northeastern, and then the Cincinnati Reds took him in the third round
02:46after he had a little bit of a strugglish draft year at Northeastern in a mid-major conference.
02:52But Mike Sirota, to your point, blossomed into a top 50 prospect in the game.
02:56I just don't think that they were going to hold Gavin Lux because they were wanting to
03:01see him accumulate to war to make moving Sirota worth it.
03:04It just doesn't work that way.
03:06And Lux was going to hold up a spot that should probably go elsewhere.
03:11I'm thinking, like, he's not going to play DH if McClain is fully healthy, or he's not
03:15going to play second if McClain is fully healthy because Matt McClain should be playing second
03:20base every day.
03:20You've got to figure out what you have there.
03:22He's not going to DH every day because Steer is playing first, so Sal Stewart needs to DH.
03:27And Sal Stewart can't play third because Brian Hayes is at third.
03:30Now, the roster just made no sense to keep Gavin Lux on it.
03:34And the Reds, credit to them, they've rejuvenated their bullpen.
03:38Their bullpen was kind of flushed and built back up from scratch.
03:41They brought Emilio Pagan back.
03:43That bullpen looks pretty darn good.
03:45But I'm with you.
03:45The focal point of this was certainly Lowe going to Anaheim.
03:50Josh Lowe has underperformed in recent years, but we're two years removed from an 835 OPS
03:55in north of 130 games.
03:57He hit 292 in 2023 with Tampa.
04:00It was a struggle year last year.
04:01But you know what, hoping for the best for Josh Lowe, hoping for the best for Lux in
04:06Tampa, and hoping for the best for Brock Burke in Cincinnati.
