00:00This week on Elite Fishing Series TV, the tour heads west to the cool island vibe
00:07of Kima, Texas. It's the Kima Clash presented by Discover Kima. Tour stop
00:13number four and the final regular season stop on the Frogtogs Elite Solo Tour.
00:30Hey folks, I'm Pat Malone, host and tournament director of the Elite Fishing Series.
01:00My travels have taken me to a lot of great coastal communities, each one special in their own way.
01:06And this week's stop in Kima, Texas, got us a toad here, is no exception.
01:13Located along Galveston Bay, just 30 minutes southeast of Houston, Kima is a premier destination for food, fun and sun.
01:22Kima is the third largest boating community in the country.
01:26And if you're in Kima, chances are you're never far from a marina.
01:31Of course, fishing is a big draw and that's the reason we return year after year to host our elite events here.
01:38The Kima Boardwalk is a big attraction and was built in 1997 and is still drawing visitors from all over the country.
01:45This is a unique tournament destination for us as it has the world famous fishing for the pros, the most diverse food, fun, shots and activities for the entire family, including live entertainment nightly at specific times of the season.
02:04There's a lot to do in Kima for even the casual visitor, but off the boardwalk, the waters are full of great redfish.
02:11Let's go guys.
02:18And some of the best redfish anglers in the country are here to battle it out on the hot Gulf Coast waters at the Kima Clash.
02:26Fishing has been good for the anglers so far with several 20 pound plus bags coming to the scales over the first two days of competition.
02:36But not everybody caught the big ones.
02:38I guess that's why they call it fishing and not catching.
02:42And I was able to sneak right up on these fish and I caught probably 25 fish today and I got what I got 2064.
02:49I mean, that's not bad.
02:50I don't think it'll be enough to make the top four, but maybe I can hang into big red.
02:541704 1704 Michael Furnette Redfish Lodge of Louisiana.
02:59Very marginal on how much I'm going to miss that cut or make that cut.
03:03But after watching the guys behind me and excuse me in front of me and a couple more behind me, I think I'm in trouble.
03:09I'm going to try to take away something from every tournament and improve for the next go around.
03:13And this was a productive tournament stop for us and we're just going to keep moving forward.
03:17And he's got a good one today from Mariro, Louisiana, Jermike Furnette.
03:231522.
03:25I mean, it was, you know, anytime you're out on the water, it's just a special day.
03:29I don't care.
03:30And in tournament, your mind's going the whole time.
03:33Should I be here?
03:34Should I be there?
03:35What should I be doing?
03:36But you make a game plan and you stick with it.
03:38That's the most important thing that I've done over all the years.
03:40And I stuck to my game plan today.
03:42Winnie pro Tony Vietor fills out the final four landing in fourth place 2019.
03:48It was pretty easy to locate the fish, but the problem was I just could not get them to bite.
03:53I got to tell you, I'm going to go right back where I was because there are some really good fish there.
03:57If I could have caught three like that last fish, I'd have had 24 pounds.
04:00Day one leader Jeremy Reeves swapped places with Travis Land when Travis weighed in nearly 25 pounds on day two.
04:07But let's see what he's got coming off the 2270.
04:10He's got 2102.
04:12I feel real confident about tomorrow.
04:16I need to get a couple of big bites tomorrow.
04:18These guys are going to flat catch them.
04:20I've really got to be able to put three good fish in the boat tomorrow.
04:23I'm looking for 27 and a half, 27 and three quarter inch fish.
04:27They'll be in the eight to eight and a quarter, eight and a half pound range.
04:30Big team of Texas redfish.
04:32Tourer rookie Daniel Dung made his first elite cut by weighing in 2213 on day one and 2203 on day two.
04:42My fishing today and the past few days have been, I would say good, but it's also been tough at the same time.
04:49If I don't get my fish early, I kind of have to grind and find new fish.
04:52So my tactic right now has just been sticking and moving and hopefully get my fish early in the morning
04:57and just not beating up whatever fish I do find.
05:00Travis Land weighs in last.
05:0324-27, your biggest limit of the week.
05:07And takes the lead with 24-27, the biggest limit of the week for any angler.
05:13Man, we had a heck of a morning.
05:14It was slick calm conditions.
05:16We were able to really get on our fish quick and get the fish in the boat as soon as we could before the wind got up.
05:22That's the key to what I'm doing right now is being slick calm in the mornings.
05:25Once that wind gets up, I'm done.
05:27I can't finish the way I want to fish.
05:29So hopefully the winds hold off and the local pressure gives me a chance tomorrow.
05:33That's going to be key too.
05:34It's a pretty popular area to fish.
05:36So y'all stay tuned.
05:37We'll see how we do tomorrow.
05:38When we come back, it's time to hit the water with the final four on Championship Saturday at the Kemah Clash, presented by Discover Kemah.
05:48Something's probably wrong with me, but whatever's wrong with me, I like it.
05:55Welcome back to the Elite Fishing Series in Kemah, Texas.
05:59It's day three, Championship Saturday on the Frog Talks Elite Solo Tour.
06:06We're going to go lean on them boys.
06:29We've been real conservative with our fish the past two days.
06:33Coming in there and pulling 21, 22 pounds out of it and leaving it alone.
06:37Yesterday I was back in the ramp at 12, guys.
06:40Passed up a lot of good fish, scouted a little bit.
06:44But today, no prisoners and no mercy.
06:48Well, it's day three here in Kemah, Texas.
06:51This is the Kemah Class Championship.
06:54It's mid-August and a great time to fish this area.
06:59We've had really light winds, favorable weather.
07:02We really just couldn't ask for better.
07:05They're all on better fish than I am.
07:07They're all on more quantity of fish than I am.
07:10I'm going to have to hope I can do it perfect.
07:13If I see three that are the right ones, get a bait in front of them, get them to eat.
07:17Don't pull them off.
07:19Don't break them off.
07:21And if we can do that, hey, we might even win this thing.
07:40I'm looking at it for you.
07:42Twenty-four?
07:43What are you feeling?
07:44What are you feeling?
07:45You're sad.
07:46I hope it's twenty-three, twenty-four.
07:49That'd be nice.
07:50Something like that.
07:51We're going to almost make big.
07:52That's it.
07:53No prisoners.
07:54All right.
07:55Day three.
07:56We're finally off and running there.
07:57Finally.
07:58Almost.
07:59Saturday takes a little bit longer sometimes.
08:04Weather looks good.
08:05Got a few thunderclouds popping up.
08:12But as long as the winds hold, we'll catch our fish today.
08:19The final four have launched their boats, idled out of the no wake zone, and are now racing
08:26across the slick, calm waters in and around Kima to their first spots of the day.
08:33These are perfect conditions to hammer down and make up time.
08:40But for safety, Elite Pros have to watch their GPS and make sure not to go over the 60 mile
08:47per hour maximum speed limit of the Elite Fishing Series.
08:51The anglers have made their way across the bay into their first spots of day three.
09:07To add but one of them, this is when they get set up, lock in their gear, and make ready
09:26for the long day ahead.
09:31But the rookie does things a little differently.
09:33He got a head start on that work early this morning and took the time to share some thoughts
09:38on one of his idols and fellow competitors before launching with the field.
09:43He's one of my heroes.
09:45I look up to Tony a lot, you know.
09:47He's a great fisherman, a stand-up guy, and he quits on like he's a big, big old meanie
09:54and stuff, you know, like real hard .
09:57But he's a big softy, guys.
09:59He's a big softy.
10:03Got our first spot here.
10:20I'm already seeing him push, baby.
10:22I'm excited.
10:23We're gonna go swing on some bigs today, boy.
10:26Stay tuned.
10:27More from the KEMA Clash after these messages.

11:24Day 3 is underway and Travis Land hooks up on his first fish of the day.
11:31So important to stay on this school.
11:33I'm going to try to get this fish in quick so I can stay on that school.
11:38This is a good fish, but he'll have to land it quickly in order to stay in touch with the school he's chasing.
11:44Not too big.
11:45That's all we got to hope for.
11:46I caught a lot of big ones yesterday.
11:48But he breaks off and gets right back to the school.
11:53He's not too upset.
11:55This one was probably too big anyway.
11:57I think he was too big anyway.
11:59Where'd you go?
12:01There you are.
12:03Nice red tooth.
12:14Dang it.
12:15Oh.
12:16Got him.
12:19Here we go guys.
12:20First one.
12:21Solid fish too.
12:29There we go.
12:30Number one.
12:31Here we go baby.
12:32Number one of the day.
12:33He ain't a giant, but that's a solid fish guys.
12:58This one feels alright.
12:59The last one felt pretty big.
13:00Probably why he broke off.
13:01This one feels pretty good.
13:02Goal here is to get three first.
13:03Then work on your upgrades.
13:04That's a good fish.
13:05Good fish to start with.
13:06Good keeper.
13:07Yes sir.
13:08About a seven pound 26 inch fish.
13:14Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
13:15Kemah, Texas redfish.
13:17Need three of those today and that boy might be in trouble.
13:18Oh, no.
13:19That's a good fish.
13:20Good fish to start with.
13:21Good keeper.
13:22It's a good fish.
13:23Good fish to start with.
13:24Good keeper.
13:25Yes sir.
13:26About a seven pound 26 inch fish.
13:28Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
13:29Kemah, Texas redfish.
13:30About a seven pound, 26 inch fish.
13:38Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
13:40Kemah, Texas redfish.
13:44Need three of those today and this boy might be in trouble.
13:48Super important, I've got to stay on them
13:50because once the wind gets up about 10 o'clock,
13:52they go to the bottom and you can't see them.
13:57There's a fish right there.
14:00I got him, I got him, you have a really nice fish too.
14:06Really nice fish, they hooked up, babe, come on.
14:09I gotta get out past this so I can net him.
14:13Oh no, he went behind the boat.
14:17Oh no, he went behind the boat.
14:22Oh no, he went behind the boat.
14:24Oh no, he went behind the boat.
14:25Oh no, he went behind the boat.
14:26Yeah.
14:41Come here, buddy.
14:42I got you to figure out where my net is.
15:03Yes, sir.
15:05That's the way we start off the morning, right there.
15:087 pounder, that's what we need, that's a beautiful fish right there.
15:14So our slot limit today is 20 to 28 inches and we're trying to get them as close to 28
15:21as we can because obviously they'll be heavier the bigger they are.
15:26Stay tuned, we'll return to Kemah, Texas after these short messages.
15:31This one looked like he had a big tail, pretty fish, about 6 pounds.
15:366 and 3 quarters, no help.
15:41Closed captioning provided by McLean Trailers, the official trailer of the Elite Fishing Series.
15:47Welcome back to the Frog Talks Elite Solo Tour and the Kemah Clash, presented by Discover

16:02Woo!
16:03Woo!
16:04Woo!
16:05Even 5 pounder again guys.
16:09Life is good when you're throwing back 5s.
16:12Jeremy catches two fish on back to back casts.
16:17The only problem is, one is too big and one is not big enough.
16:26A little bit shy of what we need.
16:35This one might help.
16:39Travis Land is looking for help late in the day.
16:42Woo!
16:43And he may have just found it.
16:46He might work guys.
16:47He's 7 and a half.
16:48I bet he works.
16:49Look at that.
16:5027 and 3 quarters.
16:51Travis trades out a 6 and a half for this 7 and a half.
16:537 and a half, that's a pound.
16:54And picks up a pound.
16:55Got him.
16:56That's what we need right there.
16:57That's him.
16:58That is not how you land a redfish, boys and girls.
17:05That is not it.
17:14But we got him in the boat.
17:195, 5 and a half.
17:24Reeves catches a 2 pound upgrade.
17:26That's huge.
17:27That's a 2 and a half pound upgrade from the little one we got.
17:32There's one.
17:33Got it.
17:34Good one too.
17:38Veator saves his best for last.
17:41Literally.
17:42This is one of his last casts of the day.
17:46And he's just boated his first fish.
17:50Not a monster or nothing, but he's a fish.
17:53At this point, we definitely need a fish.
17:56He's got to be, if he was on right here, we'd be sitting real pretty ladies and gentlemen.
18:04But unfortunately, he's over.
18:06So, it means he gets to go back.
18:08But look at that fish.
18:09That's a good one.
18:10That's a good one.
18:11Oh.
18:12That one will be big.
18:13It's late in the afternoon and time's running out.
18:18Some of the pros are culling and upgrading gaining weight on their limits.
18:23Veator is still on the hunt for his second fish of the day.
18:26And now Travis is battling one that he knows is too big.
18:31That's a good one.
18:32Or is it?
18:34Redfish are a funny creature.
18:36Come on.
18:37The little ones can get long.
18:38Come on.
18:39And the big ones.
18:40Come on.
18:41Come on.
18:42Can get shorter.
18:43Yes, sir.
18:44This is nine pounds.
18:51Game over.
18:57Yeah, right at seven.
18:58That's a quarter pound upgrade.
18:59We'll take it.
19:00That big fish only netted Travis a quarter of a pound.
19:03And these games are won and lost by ounces.
19:07Alright.
19:17The anglers are heading back to the ramp.
19:19They'll load their boats on the trailer and head over to the Kemah Lighthouse District
19:24for the final weigh in of the Kemah Clash.
19:37It's time now for the conclusion to what has been a great week to be in Kemah, Texas.
19:44Tony Veator gets us started.
19:475.06 pounds.
19:49Followed by the rookie Daniel Dong.
19:5120-19.
19:5321-39 for Jeremy Reeves.
19:56And finally...
19:57Here we go.
19:58Three fish.
19:59Three alive.
20:00Your champion with 24-34.
20:02Travis Land has done it again.
