00:00Hi folks, I'm Pat Malone, host of the Elite Redfish Tournament Series.
00:30We're in beautiful Bay St. Louis, Mississippi at the Silver Slipper Casino and Hotel, and
00:40anglers are going to battle it out for two days on the big waters of Bay St. Louis.
00:44And we thought none better than Redfish Pro, Mr. Mike Furnette, to bring to the show and
00:49get the anglers' perspective on what these guys will be battling and what it's going
00:53to take to take home that top prize and be crowned champions of the Silver Slipper Show.
00:58Mike, let's talk about it.
00:59You know, it's going to take a little bit because this week has kind of been up and
01:02down with the weather, the wind, and different directions, so some of the waters that were
01:06cleaned during pre-fishing turned dirty during the latter part of pre-fishing, and there's
01:11a lot of Redfish in this area, and there's a lot of good Redfish, but the problem is, is
01:15that 99, I'd say 100% of the anglers of us for this tournament are trying to sight cast.
01:21I know you want that bright sunshine, you want to be able to see down through the water table,
01:25but before we start fishing, we have to get there, and getting there is going to be half
01:30the battle this week.
01:31Some big waters right here in Bay St. Louis that these anglers will have to traverse if
01:35they want to find those beautiful, big Redfish.
01:39And that's, you know, that's all part of the game here, and I was fortunate enough to fish
01:42out of here last year for one of our EFL tournaments, the Elite Fishing League tournaments.
01:47There's a lot of open water here, and you've got to get across that to get into the marshy
01:50areas so that we can start looking for areas to find the big fish.
01:55They just want to be in the game day one, because day two is when it really counts.
01:57Well, I'll tell you what, it may not be October, but it sounds like to me, and listening to
02:02Mr. Mike and to the other anglers that have been here practicing all week long, this will
02:07be the hunt for the big Red.
02:09It's time to get it started with day one right here on Elite Series Television.
02:20Before anglers can catch the winning fish, they have to cross the big open waters of Lake
02:24Born.
02:25For some competitors, just getting started is proving to be easier said than done.
02:29I have my little green lights on this now, they flashed one time, then they went off.
02:34I ain't getting no power to the motor, nothing on the dash, nothing.
02:39I've got one Optimum in there, that's not going to help you though, is it?
02:44Huh?
02:45It's just a 24 volt, I mean a 12 volt.
02:47That's what I need, a crank compider.
02:49We've got you ready, we're on the truck.
02:53Gary, what you got going on brother?
02:54I've got a position sensors going out.
02:58I fought it all day yesterday.
03:00And if I can get it to quit doing that, I can leave the key on and it'll, it'll let me,
03:09it'll let me run all day.
03:10I'm telling you, whenever I told you guys yesterday on stage that half the battle's getting out and getting back,
03:15and then fishing almost becomes secondary, your equipment's got to run for you.
03:20We put it under such extreme conditions, we got two of them battling it this morning,
03:24and both of them have a chance to win this tournament.
03:26They're just hoping to be able to get out there and give it a good shot.
03:29Well good luck Gary.
03:30Thank you sir.
03:31I should pay back for pulling you out.
03:32I appreciate it.
03:33I don't, I don't want to beat anybody here on the dock.
03:34I want to beat them out there.
03:35So, whatever it takes to get everybody going.
03:36Everybody would do the same.
03:37They do the same for me right now.
03:38Roll.
03:39Yeah, we got it.
03:40Ready to go.
03:41We're gonna make a pretty good little run, getting telepro marsh.
03:42And start picking around and see what happens.
03:47So, I want to be able to beat them out there.
03:51I want to beat them out there.
03:52So, whatever it takes to get everybody going.
03:53Everybody would do the same.
03:54They do the same for me right now.
03:55So.
03:56Roll.
03:57Yeah, we got it.
03:58Ready to go.
03:59We're going to make a pretty good little run over there to get the telepro marsh.
04:09picking around and see what happens. I've got like a milk run of spots that I ran through yesterday
04:15and we're going to kind of pick up on that milk run where I kind of left off of spots that I've
04:20got marked and we're just going to jump spots and jump spots and jump spots until we get what we
04:26need and we're going to get back over here as quick as we can. Hopefully the storms will stay
04:32off and we'll have a good day. Well today I'm gonna see if I can get out there hopefully win
04:41big fish maybe. We've got a chance to win that still and there's a big big prize put on Birkennell
04:47skills. We've got a chance of that. I don't think I can catch Barney for the top place but
04:52you may not catch him today you never know.
05:02Got him. Don't get in that motor.
05:32Let's see what we got. Man that other one was a good fish. He hit it and turned it loose.
05:59Well shoot. Very close to be, I have to put him in the well for now. He might be, might have to be my over.
06:07Feel the girth on that one.
06:16That's 28 inches.
06:18480. 480. That's not doing us any good but we've got to put him in the live well. We've got to start.
06:26We don't want this fish to be there. Golly, if he was just a little under. But hey, we've got a nine pounder floating in the well right now.
06:3710-15.
06:39Welcome back to the Silver Slipper Show presented by the Silver Slipper Casino and Hotel.
06:46Elite Redfish Series Television is brought to you by Tidewater Boats, Yamaha Outboards, McLean Trailers, Frog Togs, Berkley Fishing and many other fine sponsors.
07:00Mike, how's it going brother? Thanks for joining us.
07:05Oh, thank you. I appreciate it very much. This is a pleasure.
07:08Well, I know one thing. I know you would rather not be sitting here and it's not because I didn't put my deodorant on, but you'd rather still be out there fighting through the big waves and the big red fish with these fellow competitors.
07:20You know, there really wasn't big waves, but I had an unfortunate circumstance yesterday and we'll just leave it like that and I didn't get to get to fish yesterday or today.
07:28And you know what? That's the way it is. That's tournament fishing and sometimes stuff happened when I was pre-fishing and it doesn't come often and I caught one that was 14.4 pounds.
07:38Not even, I had half an inch left to go to 30 inches. Caught another one that was 13.5 pounds. So if one guy, let's say down and that had 18 or 19 pounds yesterday, catches a fish like that with a couple six or seven pounders to go to it, watch what happened.
07:54All the anglers, as far as I'm concerned, are in the game. They're in the game.
07:58In a short little bit and they're going to take home that $10,000 top prize as well as the Brecknell Big Red Challenge bonus for the single largest big fish today is going to be $6,000.
08:12Which is really the one I'm excited about to see who comes in with what. Today is a different day. It's going to be different conditions. The tides are different.
08:19I've seen it so many times that on the second day, you have guys move up that never thought they'd make it up to the top or make it up in the top three or top four, even win it down from 18th place up. So anything can happen today.
08:33I think Barney's going to take this tournament.
08:35It's, you know, again, I think anybody can, anybody can, but I think from what I saw his fish yesterday and I know Barney's a very smart fisherman.
08:45He doesn't beat him up during pre-fishing. He, I'm sure, I'm positive without talking to him, he didn't beat up his fish yesterday.
08:53And all these areas where the anglers are fishing, there's not a huge number of fish.
08:57Yeah. Okay. And it's hard to, to find the exact right ones. So, and I know Barney, I know he's, he's a real precise fisherman.
09:05So that's going to be in his favor today. If he gets four or five chances today, he'll win the tournament.
09:12Thank you so much for tuning in. It's been a blast, Mike. I'm going to give Barney White the win and I'm giving your son Big Red, the Bricknell Big Red Challenge.
09:18He's going to come back and take that with a 12 pounder.
09:20God, I hope so. That'd be great.
09:21All right, bro. Y'all be good. We'll tune in later.
09:25After a full day of fishing, the pros returned to the silver slipper to weigh in their catch and see who would take home the title of elite redfish series champion.
09:34But first, the toll the big waters took on anglers and their equipment.
09:41Yeah. I hit something on the water today and messed up my reverse gate on my jet drive and battery went dead on me.
09:48But I got three fish. That's all that matters. First time down here ever fishing Louisiana waters and Mississippi waters. This is great.
09:54Captain Max Martin. We're fishing in the southwest part of the Biloxi Marsh today. Pulled a bunch of hooks on the fish. They were short striking.
10:02But I got three decent fish in the box.
10:04Yeah. First time fishing over here, man. It's a beautiful area. The silver slipper here is really nice.
10:09Got to try not to drop them too much. Mobile for goldfish.
10:13You know, it started with mechanical failures this morning. I had to go to Walmart and buy some parts. I didn't launch till about 1030 and started making the track across Lake Bourne and it was just rough.
10:29Broke the trolling motor trying to cross. I made the run through the marsh. Engine was overheating. Needless to say, I made the run over there. I had about an hour to fish and I caught 16 fish in one hour.
10:41He needs 27.35, but these are bonus fish if you ask me. 22.08. Y'all put your hands together for Gary Marino.
10:49Max has got three really good fish for a total of 18.55 because right now you've only got 21.51, your new leader.
10:56You need 18.55 to take the lead. You got 18.80. Read your scales and get you locked in at 18.48.
11:0426.49, 26.49, 86.100 behind the leader from Bay St. Louis, Mr. Beau Favre. Come on now, make some noise for him.
11:14He's going to have 17.32 for a total, just 8.63 pounds and really brought in probably what you would classify two good solid fish over the two days.
11:24You really needed to find those bigger fish and that takes time to do, doesn't it?
11:28Oh yeah, oh yeah, especially looking for them 30-inch fish.
11:31You know, a lot of times we used to catch an under-27s and it's a little bit different going to look for those 30s when you need them.
11:37Y'all put your hands together. Blazer Bay Pro, Mr. Barney White, as he comes to the stage.
11:43He needs 20.78, three fish, three alive. You ready for this? 23.98. That's your winner.
11:50Blazer Bay Pro, Mr. Barney White.
11:53Started catching fish, I don't know, around, seemed like forever, but I think around 10, I finally got where I should have been.
11:59And I don't know, I'll probably call it 20 fish, but it seemed like every good fish that I threw at, I couldn't make eat.
12:06And it was just driving me nuts. And I just felt like, you know, as the day went on, I was like, I don't know if this is going to happen.
12:12But I kept thinking, you know what, we're just going to keep hammering, you know, catch as many as I could catch and go through what I could.
12:18I know we left something out there, but hey, I'm blessed.
12:21You won. I won.
12:23Wow. Congratulations, Barney White, on winning such a prestigious event.
12:27When we come back, it's time to pack up the equipment and head to Jacksonville, Florida and the Jacksonville Jump Elite Team Open.
12:37Welcome back. We loaded up the gear and headed 500 miles due east across the state of Florida for the Jacksonville Jump Team Open, presented by Visit Jacksonville.
12:47Let's go to show host Pat Malone and professional angler Mike Frenette as they preview another tour stop in this segment of Game Time.
12:55Hey folks, I'm Pat Malone and he's Mike Frenette and this is Game Time.
13:00Well, Mike, we just packed up. We was in Bay St. Louis just a few short days ago, made that 500 mile trek across the Jacksonville, Florida.
13:07A totally different fishing scenario for these anglers this week coming from those beautiful marshes of the Biloxi Marsh and Louisiana and all that area.
13:16And now they're coming over here to Jacksonville, Florida. Let's talk about it.
13:19You know what? They've got beautiful marshes here and they've got jetties and they've got intercoastals.
13:25They've got some beautiful places to fish.
13:28But what they have here that we don't have back at Bay St. Louis, they've got about a six-foot tide here.
13:33And so, in your mind, if you've never been here before, and even if you have, you want to go do some sight casting or whatever, you're trying to get back into some ponds,
13:41you better pay attention to when the tide's either going to come in or whether it's going to go out.
13:47Because if you go far back enough and the tide goes out, you're going to be back there for a couple of hours.
13:52You're going to be there for a little bit. You better go to lunch.
13:54And I'm talking from experience.
13:56You sounded like you knew an awful lot about it for someone who may have just shown up to fish a tournament over there.
14:02Well, that's exciting and that's also informative. But you know what?
14:05Before they can get to the stage and hold up that trophy and be declared an Elite Redfish Series Tournament Champion, they have to get started.
14:15And I'm ready to go see what these guys are going to do. Are you ready?
14:18Let's do it. Let's go get them in the water.

16:44Welcome back to the Jacksonville Jump presented by Visit Jacksonville.
16:49We'd like to welcome everybody out to beautiful Jim King Park right here in Jacksonville, Florida.
16:54And this week is presented by Visit Jacksonville.
16:57Here we go, your first team of the day.
16:59Two fish, two alive, 896.
17:02We were all over the right fish, just couldn't get them to eat.
17:04Here we go, let's get two fish live.
17:07They need 896, 734.
17:10Just a little bit short.
17:11We found some really nice fish, but we couldn't get them to bite.
17:14Coming up, boat number nine.
17:16Swamp fish.
17:17Boy, I bet you got a good one.
17:18Yeah.
17:19One alive, 5.10.
17:22Really rough out there, but we were able to sight cast a fish and get a good slot fish
17:27and just weren't able to get another one.
17:29Boat number 12.
17:30One fish, one alive, 5.15.
17:33So we scrambled today and caught that five pounder and that was about it for us.
17:38So we have another team coming up, Hydro Step Boats.
17:40This is Brian Clark and Chris Tuning.
17:42Two fish, two alive, 1063.
17:45Your new leaders, Hydro Step Boats.
17:47Brian Clark, Chris Tuning.
17:49Definitely had a couple that would have been good and it's what it is.
17:53It's fishing.
17:54It's fishing.
17:55And thanks to the fine folks at the CCA, which we're going to have a lot more announcements
17:59on that soon.
18:00We're going to put them in for two fish, two fish alive.
18:03867.
18:04And not being from here in this big old tide, we did everything we could do just not to
18:09get stuck.
18:10Boat number one, Richard Hewlett and Damien Solorzano.
18:14They had one fish yesterday for 346.
18:17They need a 1494 today to take the lead.
18:21Are you kidding me?
18:23Look at this.
18:251344.
18:261.5 pounds behind on just three fish of your four fish limit.
18:30Put that fish.
18:31They got 1344.
18:32And here's a big reason for it right here.
18:34They need a 667.
18:36697.
18:37The new Big Red Challenge leader.
18:39There you go, brother.
18:40I had a really big one on to begin with.
18:42Probably well over eight pounds.
18:44But he got off at the boat.
18:46So we followed up about an hour later and I followed up with that one out there.
18:50Coming up next, Team Yamaha Outboards.
18:53Chris Cincy and Joss McClendon.
18:551096.
18:56That's your new leaders.
18:572161 over two days, buddy.
19:00I bet you never thought 2161 on four fish and you's going to be thrilled to have it.
19:05These are tough conditions this weekend.
19:07All right.
19:08Coming up next, KNG Construction.
19:10Matt Davis and Nathan Morgan.
19:12Two fish.
19:13Read your scale for the win.
19:151017.
19:16That is your winners with 2472.
19:18We actually struggled as well.
19:20We had our fish by nine o'clock, but after that we fished real hard and we just couldn't.
19:25We had a couple more three or four pounders, flounder, trout, you know, bycatch, stuff like that.
19:29But other than that, we had our fish by nine o'clock in the morning.
19:32So you want to get that aggressive fish and usually the aggressive fish are the bigger ones.
19:36So you want to throw that topwater.
19:37The champions of the Berkeley Fishing Jacksonville Jump presented by Visit Jacksonville.
19:42Y'all put your hands together.
19:44Matt Davis and Nathan Morgan.
19:47Wow.
19:48What an exciting finish right here in Jacksonville, Florida.
19:52KNG Construction takes the win.
19:54You have got to give Barney White and Dwayne Mills coming all the way over from Bruton, Alabama
20:00and Pensacola, Florida to land in third place against some of the best anglers in this state.
20:04You know, I think this was Barney's first time fishing in this area as well.
20:08To come back and finish in the third place, man, that's an accomplishment.
20:12We'll see what happens in another three months.
20:14Well, I tell you what, it's going to be exciting.
20:15Thank you guys so much for tuning in.
