Mike Vrabel a top HC left in NFL playoffs?
Ranking the best coaches in the playoffs! Ryans? McVay? Vrabel? How about Kyle Shanahan? Where does Vrabel land? Agree with the list?
Transcript
00:00Brag of the week, though, was Nikovic yesterday on the MCLs.
00:03Oh, yeah.
00:04I've had four or five.
00:05No, the brag of the week was from Nikovic when he was talking about how he was offered a job as the linebacker coach for Sean Payton.
00:11Right.
00:11Yeah, that's right.
00:13What was the first job?
00:15A scout first.
00:16Right.
00:16And then Sean Payton said, you won't take that?
00:18Okay, how about this?
00:19He's like, I don't want to be up there all night till 3 a.m. chasing goals.
00:23So I turned that down.
00:24When it comes to coaches left in the playoffs, where do you rank Sean Payton?
00:29I think I'm pretty high.
00:30And then I'm going to ask about Vrabel.
00:31I would say, well, that's a good thing.
00:35Let me look at that list.
00:35I go McVay number one just because I think he's revolutionized.
00:40I would go Payton number two.
00:42McVay just purely on offense.
00:44And he looks great in a shirt.
00:47Handsome guy.
00:48So does Vrabel.
00:49I'm sorry, Mike.
00:50That's true.
00:50Vrabel three.
00:51Vrabel three.
00:52Yeah.
00:52Vrabel three.
00:53Then I'd probably go D'Amico Ryan's four.
00:59Uh, the coach from Seattle.
01:03What's it?
01:03McDonald?
01:04McDonald.
01:04McDonald.
01:04I have McDermott last.
01:05Man, you're putting Shanny this low?
01:07Oh, wow.
01:08Shanahan.
01:08Oh, yeah.
01:08I forgot about Shanahan.
01:09Come on, guys.
01:10How dare you?
01:10I go Shanahan four.
01:11And then D'Amico five.
01:13Yeah.
01:13Okay.
01:13Yeah.
01:14I'll allow it.
01:14Yeah.
01:15And Ben Johnson would be the last one on the list.
01:18And Ben Johnson's not even a bad coach.
01:19I think this is a really good, like, crop of playoff coaches.
01:23Yeah.
01:23I don't think there's a single one where I'm like, oh, this guy's a boob.
01:26No, I agree with you.
01:27You have Vrabel.
01:27Well, maybe McDermott.
01:28You have Vrabel at number three.
01:30Yeah, I'd put.
01:31Okay.
01:33Man, this is such a very difficult.
01:38Because I would say McVay won.
01:40And I would probably go.
01:41I'll give.
01:42I'll rock with Curtis on this one.
01:43I'd probably go Sean Payton two.
01:45Right?
01:46Then it becomes, is it Shanahan or is it Vrabel?
01:53That's very difficult.
01:55That's a good point.
01:56Say what you want.
01:56Shanahan's a good coach.
01:58Say what you want.
01:59This has been maybe one of his best coaching years.
02:01Yeah.
02:01Shanahan's a good coach.
02:02He won't make boneheaded mistakes.
02:05Like, you know.
02:05You know what?
02:06I put Shanahan ahead of Vrabel.
02:07He won with Mac Jones this year.
02:09Like, what they've overcome.
02:10He's been to two Super Bowls.
02:11Yeah, yeah.
02:12He's had a tougher division by a wide margin.
02:14All right.
02:14I'll give, I'll go Shanahan three, Vrabel four.
02:17All right.
02:17I'd go that too.
02:18Because I feel like I'd go with the Super Bowl coaches just for that experience.
02:22Where Vrabel, I think the furthest he went was in AFC Championship.
02:25So, I'd agree with Curtis on that.
02:27Okay.
02:27Well.
02:28That's a great question though.
02:29We are.
