00:00:02Oh, look at that!
00:00:03Absolutely phenomenal!
00:00:05Really awesome!
00:00:07Welcome to Match of the Dead.
00:00:30On the weekend, the nation remembers those who lost their lives while serving their country.
00:00:54Football paid its respects.
00:01:00выс inevitability in the future.
00:01:06If you remember seeing pictures in the first place,
00:01:11the project has got an opportunity to overcome the promise of something that Tiiano is doing.
00:01:15A newborn restored by the Coast Guard.
00:01:21O Pluseters, according to Pirate Rumor and the Subscribe opening afterwards,
00:01:25is sitting at a Cannabis reality and is still bedroom-sizedое at night.
00:01:28MUSIC PLAYS
00:01:57MUSIC CONTINUES
00:02:27MUSIC CONTINUES
00:02:57Arsenal's first visit to Wearside for just over nine years
00:03:04they won 4-1 last time
00:03:06they haven't been beaten in any of their last five here
00:03:10there's a
00:03:12tross up
00:03:17Marino went for it, Ballard went with him
00:03:21and Marino has been hurt
00:03:22there was a clash of heads there
00:03:24and Greg Corson the ref will have to stop the game
00:03:27not a clash of heads, Ballard won it cleanly
00:03:31his arm went into the right hand side of Marino's cheek there
00:03:37nothing wrong with the challenge
00:03:38the arm's got to go up for balance
00:03:40Regis Labriz has called it pretty simply in his pre-match words
00:03:48we have to do a masterclass
00:03:51no choice
00:03:52Rice
00:03:57Ballard heads out, Lefebvre
00:04:01time to bring it down but he's given it away to Eze now
00:04:03and Eze's cleared the crossbar
00:04:05Sunderland can't give Arsenal presence
00:04:09they will make the most of one before long
00:04:12left Siddiqui wrong-footed
00:04:15I would think given that opportunity again
00:04:17Eze would opt for something a bit more powerful
00:04:20Eze holds off Xhaka but then
00:04:25Kuhn gets his foot to the ball
00:04:27Timber against Lefebvre
00:04:29Lefebvre on the floor
00:04:30now Isidore trying to break round the back
00:04:33fires wide but it was a
00:04:36well if not a half chance
00:04:37a third of a chance perhaps
00:04:39is it all never really had the angle but he certainly has the confidence
00:04:45Timber
00:04:47Saka
00:04:52started to get more and more involved
00:04:54and there'll be more complaining now because the free kick's gone against his team
00:05:05not only that Zubi Mendy is the first player to get a booking
00:05:09came clattering into Isidore
00:05:13roofs to play it up towards Ballard
00:05:21Ballard's there again
00:05:25and Ballard shoots into the roof of the net
00:05:28and he's got this pace jumping
00:05:32Arsenal's conceded a goal
00:05:37for the first time in nine games
00:05:39and it's one of their own who scored it
00:05:43Dan Ballard started out as an Arsenal junior
00:05:46didn't make the breakthrough
00:05:48he has here tonight
00:05:50Sunderland won Arsenal nil
00:05:53Regis Lebris game plan is working
00:05:56get into Arsenal faces
00:05:57rough them up a bit and upset them
00:05:59they're really upset now
00:06:01one thing for sure
00:06:04this Arsenal team has steel
00:06:06and they won't lie down
00:06:07Tross up
00:06:10Saka's calling for it
00:06:16Tross up's ignoring his captain
00:06:17Zubi Mendy he finds Saka
00:06:21and Saka plays it across the face
00:06:24but that was promising for Arsenal
00:06:26it hasn't happened too often at all today
00:06:30but on that occasion
00:06:32they were playing it nicely through
00:06:34and finding the spaces in the penalty area
00:06:36Lefebvre
00:06:40Rice is on him
00:06:41and Rice wins the ball
00:06:44there's it
00:06:45Mourinho
00:06:46Tross out arriving
00:06:47here's Saka
00:06:48first on the scene
00:06:49and Saka squeezes it in
00:06:51Arsenal level
00:06:52it's been coming since the start of the second half
00:06:58Enzo Lefe
00:07:02not the first to be
00:07:04guilty of dallying in possession in his own half
00:07:07but he's the first to be made to pay for it
00:07:09great work by Declan Rice
00:07:11we expect that from him
00:07:12and we expect this from Bakayo Saka
00:07:15Sunderland one
00:07:17Arsenal one
00:07:17Rice
00:07:21Tross out
00:07:25and Fiori trying to take Trae Hume away
00:07:30nice ball in for Zubi Mendy
00:07:31chance after Arsenal chance coming now
00:07:36through the legs of Bertrand Traore
00:07:38Zubi Mendy perfectly aware of his whereabouts there
00:07:43knew he had to take it first time
00:07:45Rice
00:07:47Saka
00:07:52Roofs punches but straight to Zubi Mendy
00:07:55here's Eze now
00:07:57the bars only just stopped shaking from Zubi Mendy's effort
00:08:03not decisive Robin Roofs
00:08:05really good effort from Zubi Mendy
00:08:07Arsenal getting closer and closer all the time
00:08:11all the time
00:08:13Trossard
00:08:18oh space opens up for Trossard now
00:08:22oh that is fantastic
00:08:24what a goal by Leandro Trossard to give Arsenal the lead
00:08:30just managed to move the ball sufficiently far away from Noah Siddiqui to set himself up
00:08:41but he still had an awful lot to do from that point
00:08:44it has still got to be a perfect shot to get past Robin Roofs from that range
00:08:50it is perfect
00:08:52and it's Sunderland 1 Arsenal 2
00:08:53and it's Sunderland 1 Arsenal 2
00:08:57Robby
00:08:59Calafiore
00:09:01had a fly kick at it
00:09:02missed it
00:09:03took Hume to the floor
00:09:05and it gives Sunderland a free kick
00:09:07it's Hume
00:09:11it's a really good delivery
00:09:13it's a really good delivery
00:09:15oh a Dingra
00:09:16gets the ball
00:09:18Mukiele was in his way a fraction of a second too long
00:09:21and now it's out
00:09:22where's it going to be it's Sunderland's throwing
00:09:26Ballard he didn't help it on
00:09:28oh it nearly came to Robby
00:09:29it has now
00:09:30and Raya's made the save
00:09:32with assistance from Mourinho
00:09:34and now with assistance from the flag
00:09:37it was actually helped on by William Saliba
00:09:39spooned by Raya who had a second grab at it
00:09:43it looked at that point as though Robby would score
00:09:45but that's a really good save by Raya
00:09:48Mukiele
00:09:51putting away to Rice but it bounced off him to Xhaka
00:09:54Hume
00:09:55it's over Robby
00:09:56arriving is Ronaldo
00:09:57and Raya gets to the ball just before Brian Robby
00:10:00brilliant goalkeeping
00:10:03I think that might have been given as a foul anyway
00:10:06as Ronaldo
00:10:07went hurtling
00:10:09into the back of William Saliba
00:10:14Siddiqui
00:10:17Xhaka
00:10:21only about 15 players in between him and the goal
00:10:25Hume
00:10:27Ballard trying to help it onto Robby
00:10:28to Robby
00:10:30and Robby's hooked in home
00:10:31and Robby's hooked in home
00:10:39his first Sunderland goal
00:10:42and it looks as though it's rescued them a point
00:10:46against the Premier League leaders
00:10:50Arsenal have issues with it
00:10:52it will of course be checked
00:10:54didn't look as though there was a foul from Ballard
00:10:56didn't look as though there was a foul from Robby
00:11:00it's a super finish from Brian Robby
00:11:05it's 2-2 at the Stadium of Light
00:11:07that's an awkward cross
00:11:19Marino's effort is smothered
00:11:22Dan Ballard started the day
00:11:25I think he might have just ended it
00:11:27what a save this is
00:11:29from the Sunderland centre-back
00:11:31that sums him up
00:11:33that sums them up
00:11:34in any moment they just need a foul
00:11:37a long throw
00:11:38a direct ball
00:11:39to create that chaos
00:11:40you have to defend the action as well
00:11:42we lose the timing of that
00:11:44and we can see the goal
00:11:45so very disappointed
00:11:46because even at the end
00:11:47in the last minute
00:11:48we have again a massive chance
00:11:50with Rikki and Mikkel to win it
00:11:52and it didn't mean to be
00:11:54so we have to accept it
00:11:55difficult game
00:11:57difficult environment to play
00:11:59we've done extremely well
00:12:00especially in the second half
00:12:02to come back and to put in the performance
00:12:03we've put in
00:12:05but yeah we've gone into the international break
00:12:07top of the league
00:12:08and we'll keep a bit of perspective
00:12:10did the block at the end mean as much
00:12:12if not more than the goal you scored?
00:12:14the stage of the game
00:12:15I mean if we conceded there
00:12:16it would have been a huge blow
00:12:18so it probably meant more in the end
00:12:21but there's no feeling like scoring a goal
00:12:22score a goal
00:12:23it was a tough game
00:12:24as expected
00:12:25because we knew before
00:12:26that we faced probably one of the best teams in Europe
00:12:31I think now we have this faith
00:12:34this belief that until the final whistle
00:12:38anything is possible
00:12:41and Sunderland have shown all season
00:12:43that anything is possible
00:12:44they could have gone second
00:12:45if they'd won this game
00:12:47they're unbeaten at home
00:12:48what was so impressive about this performance
00:12:50against Arsenal Alan?
00:12:51well particularly Dan Ballard
00:12:52I think he epitomised everything
00:12:55that Sunderland have done so well
00:12:57particularly at home this season
00:12:59with his aggression
00:13:01with him and his teammates stopping Arsenal playing
00:13:03particularly in that first half
00:13:05and they are really really tough
00:13:07to play against
00:13:09and there were so many examples of that
00:13:11today with him and other players
00:13:14putting their body on the line
00:13:16for their team and for the atmosphere
00:13:18and I said he sort of summed everything
00:13:22we're going to talk about this after
00:13:24but look how difficult it is to get through
00:13:27how many players they've got behind the ball
00:13:29and then I think that's really good defending
00:13:31as I said we'll talk more in a minute about that
00:13:33but that is really really tough
00:13:36aggressive defending
00:13:37then he more than plays his part with this
00:13:39I mean he makes it difficult to clear
00:13:40but have a look at the touch and the finish
00:13:42goodness me
00:13:43any forward would be proud of that finish
00:13:47then when they're piling the pressure on
00:13:50he makes it really difficult there
00:13:52the flick on
00:13:54in for Brian Brobby
00:13:55who then finishes off with a great finish
00:13:57but it starts with him being aggressive in the box
00:13:59and not letting the Arsenal players defend the way they want to
00:14:02and then they get the reward
00:14:03and then Arsenal come back at them
00:14:04and they straight down the other end
00:14:07and I said putting your body on the line for your team
00:14:10that's exactly what I mean
00:14:13and that's why it means so much to him as the defender
00:14:16to stopping that
00:14:18and you can see the reaction from all the fans
00:14:20from behind the goal
00:14:22and Arsenal will not have many tougher games than that this season
00:14:26I promise you and you can see
00:14:28he started his career at the Arsenal Academy
00:14:30and what a performance
00:14:31him and Sunderland put in today
00:14:32I thought they thoroughly deserved the point
00:14:34Yeah, Dan Ballard, player of the match
00:14:36but you mentioned that challenge on Marino
00:14:39they looked at it, VAR looked at it
00:14:41and decided there was nothing to see there
00:14:43what was your view on it, Theo?
00:14:45Well, my view, I look at it a little bit differently to be honest
00:14:48and it's not clear and obvious
00:14:51however, it's early in the game
00:14:53it's seven minutes in the game
00:14:55and Don Ballard of course wants to put his mark on the game
00:14:57should we just call it
00:14:58and Mikel Arteta spoke about being disruptive
00:15:01and he's definitely, from my opinion, right
00:15:02he's disruptive
00:15:04and there's a slight movement to the
00:15:06from the elbow to Marino's cheek, cheekbone
00:15:08me and I definitely probably don't agree on it
00:15:10however, I do feel like his elbow is in quite a high
00:15:13condition, should we just call it
00:15:15and it was very disruptive and it did set the balance
00:15:17I think, as a defender, if he allows that forward to get across him
00:15:21Marino, his manager goes absolutely berserk at him
00:15:23that's his space and he cannot allow any forward to get across him
00:15:28so he then settles himself and then he goes for the header
00:15:32he can't jump without doing that for a header
00:15:35and I don't think there's anything deliberate there at all
00:15:37I think it's more brilliant defender than anything else
00:15:39and you would have done that if you were challenging for the ball as a striker
00:15:42I wouldn't allow anyone to sort of get in me
00:15:44in and around me or in front of me
00:15:46and that's his job as a defender
00:15:48he cannot allow the forward to get in front of him
00:15:49and he didn't
00:15:51Theo, as Alan was saying earlier, Sunderland's game plan worked perfectly
00:15:54particularly in the first half
00:15:56but what changed for us on the second half?
00:15:59What changed? Mikel Arteta got into the dressing room first of all
00:16:01first before the players
00:16:03and the intensity was the biggest challenge that they had to face
00:16:07because they were up against a very tough Sunderland team
00:16:10who hadn't been beaten at home this year
00:16:12and the numbers they committed forward as well
00:16:14at times because Saka was finding it hard in the first half to get involved in the game
00:16:16but this is what I'm talking about, the bravery of committing bodies forward
00:16:20Declan Rice always starts to press
00:16:22and if you give Arsenal an opportunity
00:16:25they're going to punish you, as simple as that
00:16:27and you can't afford to do that because Sunderland worked tremendously hard
00:16:30Al spoke a couple of weeks ago about the full-backs committing forward
00:16:33and putting in positions where you don't really expect
00:16:36but this is what we're talking about, the difference, the bravery, the committing the bodies forward
00:16:39like I said before, and this is where I felt at times
00:16:42Arsenal were always going to cause problems and make chances out of nothing
00:16:47I'd say a little bit of a snapshot here but this was the danger
00:16:50this is the warning signs that Sunderland had to be aware of
00:16:52Supermendio I felt was absolutely brilliant in the second half
00:16:55just a bit unlucky here of course
00:16:58but this is the luck that Arsenal probably get in this season
00:17:02because they don't give up, they don't give you many opportunities
00:17:04and Lionel Trossard, for me, is a player that is probably at times, you know, there's been questions
00:17:12but you can just see here, Siddiqui points to Hulme to say
00:17:15look, you take him, but I don't understand why you would then step and give that opportunity
00:17:20and that space to Trossard, particularly coming on the inside
00:17:22and you can see how disappointed he is, it's a fantastic finish
00:17:24not taking a finish away, but look, Lionel Trossard has come up with very, very important goals
00:17:28right now for Arsenal Football Club
00:17:29and I think it's a really good point in the end to be honest with you
00:17:32and when I look at it, it's a balanced game
00:17:34I think Sunderland probably deserves something out of the game, but Arsenal as well
00:17:37Alan, they'll be looking at Manchester City-Liverpool tomorrow on Match of the Day
00:17:40what difference does that Arsenal result make to that game?
00:17:44I agree with Theo, I think in the grand scheme of things, the way it was today
00:17:48and how tough it is for teams going to Sunderland, I think a point is a decent result
00:17:53and they'll be hoping that those two draw tomorrow
00:17:55Now Manchester United are unbeaten in their last four in the Premier League
00:18:01Ruben Amorim's joint best run since taking over
00:18:04they travelled to Spurs and Steve Wilson watched this one
00:18:07Spurs in the top six of the Premier League, unbeaten in the Champions League
00:18:13a trophy in the cabinet and yet, and yet home is where the hurt is for Tottenham
00:18:18who've won just three of their last 19 league games here
00:18:23Spurs fans are still buzzing about Nicky van der Benz midweek wonder goal in Europe
00:18:28he scored twice as many as Richarlison this season
00:18:31no Europe for United of course, they lost four times to Tottenham last term
00:18:35including the Europa League final
00:18:37a start for Masraoui, Cesko drops to the bench
00:18:39the Europa League final they served up in Bilbao was really a save our season match for both
00:18:47but the manager who won it lost his job, the manager who lost it didn't
00:18:51and Charleston took it away from his countrymen, Javi Simon skipping forward with real purpose here, that's unlucky
00:18:59it's a slip but it's taken up by Colomuani, blocked by De Ligt
00:19:03Casemiro
00:19:05and Bruno Fernandes and United have a counter-attack here of some promise
00:19:11Cunha
00:19:14getting through Romero, taken up by Bruno Fernandes
00:19:18and Bermão in behind Pedro Porro
00:19:21well he had every right to think that somebody would be there, but they weren't
00:19:24the flag has gone up anyway as it happens
00:19:27four forward for United, Spurs desperately trying to get bodies back
00:19:31that is super close
00:19:33if that ended up in the back of the net
00:19:36it would have been a long old VAR check
00:19:38nice little dummy by Brian and Bermão, Bruno Fernandes in behind, looking for Matias Cunha
00:19:49and Bermão heads for the area, Bruno Fernandes there too
00:19:52and a momentary position of interest is not quite snuffed out
00:19:57Cunha's back heel, door goes cross and Bermão's header
00:20:00Jed Spence with Amart
00:20:02Masraoui
00:20:06Amart's cross
00:20:08and in
00:20:10Brian and Bermão scores
00:20:12for Manchester United
00:20:14again
00:20:16he is in a rich vein of form
00:20:20scored in Anfield
00:20:22scored two at home to Brighton
00:20:24and scores at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Brian and Bermão
00:20:28and that is far too easy
00:20:31and Bruno just standing there
00:20:32and no one gets close
00:20:35it's a very poor goal you can see
00:20:38Manchester United won't care and are in front
00:20:44looks like Tottenham have actually gone to a back three with Johnson as a right wing back and Spence as a left wing back
00:20:51Johnson
00:20:54Pedro Porro's ball in
00:20:56it's a glance to Joao Palinha, never quite had it under control
00:21:00blocked by Masraoui
00:21:03Spurs will have a throw in
00:21:05here's Jed Spence
00:21:08here's Jed Spence
00:21:10Odderberg
00:21:12that's a better ball in
00:21:14it's a really good save by Lammans
00:21:16it's Tottenham's first attempt on target in the game
00:21:18and Christian Romero is denied
00:21:21good stop by Senna Lammans because it's a very close port as this
00:21:30Simons
00:21:34Mathias Cunha
00:21:36and Simons has won that well
00:21:38he's being fouled by Mathias Cunha
00:21:40it's a free kick
00:21:42he's being fouled by Mathias Cunha
00:21:44it's a free kick
00:21:46it's been quite close to a yellow card that actually for Mathias Cunha
00:21:49but I think he's got away with it
00:21:55Pedro Porro for Spence
00:21:58looking for Romero in the crowd
00:22:00Joao Palinha
00:22:01Lammans there again
00:22:05well the early impressions of Senna Lammans in her Manchester United jersey have been pretty good
00:22:09that's another smart save
00:22:12might have seen that late
00:22:13it's going right through the legs of Harry Maguire
00:22:18now
00:22:20Xavi Simons is being withdrawn and that is not a popular decision with the Tottenham fans
00:22:25not at all
00:22:27Mathias Tell
00:22:29comes on
00:22:31Xavi Simons makes way
00:22:33Bruno Fernandes
00:22:39Odebe
00:22:46Udoge
00:22:49and Tell
00:22:50it's in!
00:22:53Tottenham Hotspur a level
00:22:55with seven minutes to go
00:22:58Mathias Tell
00:23:00with the goal for Spurs
00:23:03I'm pretty certain there's a deflection on this
00:23:06which helped it pass Lammans
00:23:07pass Lammans
00:23:09Tell with a neat turn
00:23:11and it's flicked off the toe
00:23:14actually of De Ligt and into the roof of the net
00:23:17the bit of luck that Tottenham badly required
00:23:21and it's one all in a game which frankly neither side really deserves to win
00:23:25Sheshko's flick on Mason Mount here for Manchester United
00:23:29and the little ball into Benjamin Sheshko
00:23:32and a great sliding Van der Venn intervention keeps Tottenham level
00:23:40Sheshko is injured here
00:23:42well this is what happened Van der Venn brilliant
00:23:48they're not going to be able to replace it
00:23:50they've made five substitutions Manchester United
00:23:54unless
00:23:56Sheshko
00:23:58can recover but it doesn't look like they're going to take that risk
00:24:02no he's not going to come back
00:24:04so it's
00:24:07one each
00:24:09Manchester United are a man short
00:24:12this can be a minimum of six added minutes
00:24:15Spence with the cross to lick behind Tottenham corner
00:24:17in goes the corner kick glanced away
00:24:28on the back
00:24:30and in off Richarlison's head
00:24:37that is some turnaround
00:24:40been almost no point
00:24:42in this game that you could have imagined Tottenham would win it
00:24:45but here we are in the 92nd minute
00:24:49and they're in front
00:24:51Richarlison
00:24:53with what is very likely to be the winning goal
00:24:56well Odderberg's effort is excellent
00:24:59and Richarlison I think meant it
00:25:01Tottenham 2
00:25:03Manchester United 1
00:25:06well their unbeaten sequence would seem to be coming to an end
00:25:11Verme
00:25:13it's deflected
00:25:19and Manchester United will have a corner
00:25:21and Lammans the goalkeeper is coming forward
00:25:25in goes the United corner kick
00:25:31and De Ligt puts it in the net
00:25:34it's two each
00:25:36well it's another terrible goal to concede from Tottenham's point of view
00:25:43but Manchester United have got themselves on level terms
00:25:48Mati Stiligt
00:25:50goodness me
00:25:52Luke Shaw did a good job for him just blocking Bentancur
00:25:55which meant that De Ligt
00:25:57from close quarters
00:25:59had no one in attendance
00:26:00and it's 2-2
00:26:03Amarim is prowling
00:26:06Manchester United's ten men remember
00:26:09and that is the final whistle
00:26:13almost impossibly high drama at the end
00:26:16very low quality before it
00:26:18but it finishes two each
00:26:20I think if you look at the game was there
00:26:24the three points was there to take
00:26:26you can felt the environment
00:26:27we were comfortable in the game
00:26:29I think we can be so much better
00:26:32and to understand what's happening in the game
00:26:34but we fight in every adversity
00:26:37we lost Terry Maguire
00:26:39we lost Casimir with Payne
00:26:41we lost Cesc
00:26:42we suffered two goals
00:26:43and we managed to draw the game
00:26:45and that is a good sign
00:26:47of course
00:26:48of course it's not that I'm going away from here
00:26:50and not be disappointed when you're leading 2-1
00:26:53with one minute to go
00:26:55and you don't win
00:26:56that will always be the case
00:26:58to stay in the game
00:27:00do the right thing
00:27:01keep pushing
00:27:03because in games like this
00:27:04where two teams are neutralizing a little bit
00:27:06you don't create so much
00:27:08you know that's natural
00:27:10but how the boys kept fighting
00:27:12kept doing the right thing
00:27:13I was thinking was hugely impressive
00:27:15I will stay positive
00:27:16because the reaction in the second half
00:27:18was very very good
00:27:19we showed a great mentality
00:27:21so yeah I'm very happy to
00:27:23score this goal ahead with my team
00:27:25and I think we need to stay positive on this game
00:27:28They did improve as the game went on Tottenham
00:27:31Theo, did Thomas Frank get his substitutions right?
00:27:32well I don't think the Tottenham fans felt he got the substitutions right when he made them to be honest
00:27:37but what he did do was
00:27:39he created a
00:27:41they were getting too predictable
00:27:43I felt Tottenham in the first half
00:27:45and you can see here first half compared to the second half
00:27:47where all the players on the right hand side were actually Manchester United were very strong
00:27:51and the big part for that was Odubar
00:27:53Odubar was absolutely outstanding when he came on
00:27:56a player that
00:27:58who has to be able to take risks and play with that freedom
00:27:59and the energy
00:28:00and that's what you have to do as a substitution
00:28:03you need to be able to commit bodies
00:28:04but what I like about him
00:28:05he likes to put the ball in when you have space
00:28:07he likes to change his game
00:28:08and this is what I'm talking about
00:28:09not being predictable
00:28:10when you give players
00:28:12who are ball carriers in this amount of space
00:28:14Manchester United start dropping
00:28:16and Doggy was fantastic as well
00:28:17all three substitutions who came on actually contributed
00:28:19and Theo
00:28:21just watch the finish, the spin
00:28:23gets a bit of luck with the deflection
00:28:24however it's the hard work that counts
00:28:26Odubar again outside on the
00:28:29isolating
00:28:31Ahmad
00:28:32who I felt defensively struggled when
00:28:35Maserari actually went off the field
00:28:36I felt Odubar probably got hit into the game a lot more
00:28:39and that created the corner
00:28:41and Odubar comes out of course more space
00:28:43and just has to guide him for Charleston
00:28:45but it's fantastic and it just shows
00:28:47trust the managers process
00:28:49I think that's one thing as fans when you watch games
00:28:51you're always frustrated in the moment
00:28:52however look, they're there for a reason
00:28:55Thomas Frank's a good manager
00:28:56he knows exactly what he's doing
00:28:57and he's made the right decision
00:28:59Having said that, on the flip side
00:29:01not all of Manchester United's substitutions worked perfectly
00:29:04certainly one in particular Alan
00:29:06Yeah, Sheshkov struggled again
00:29:08he's only scored twice in his 12 appearances
00:29:10and he came on today with just over half an hour to go
00:29:14and had two really really good chances
00:29:16and should have scored to be honest
00:29:18they worked really well Man United
00:29:21for him to get in there with a 1-2 touch
00:29:23and that's a good ball in behind
00:29:25now, he's either got to get his shot away early
00:29:28or he's got to push that ball forward quicker
00:29:31he's not going to get that amount of time in the Premier League
00:29:33to work it and try and get it back onto his right foot
00:29:36this one's the bigger puzzle for me
00:29:38I know he was struggling for confidence
00:29:40but any centre forward knows
00:29:42you cannot allow the centre half to come back at you
00:29:47you've got to get across Van de Ven
00:29:49so if Van de Ven's going to tackle him
00:29:51he makes sure he fouls them
00:29:53and you should also by that time
00:29:56have a picture in your head
00:29:58of where the keeper is and what you are wanting to do
00:30:01and I don't think he has a clue what he wants to do
00:30:03because I don't think he even knows Van de Ven is there
00:30:07and chasing him
00:30:09so now he should be looking at the keeper
00:30:11thinking what am I going to do, where am I going to go
00:30:12and he wants to work it again
00:30:13he wants to work it again
00:30:14he's got to come across again
00:30:16he's trying to work it onto his right foot
00:30:18but as I said he has to get across
00:30:19or take it onto his left foot to finish
00:30:21there's not once he knows that Van de Ven is actually
00:30:24tracking him and chasing him
00:30:26and preparing to put a tackle in
00:30:28he's got to get his shot away
00:30:30I know as I said he's struggling with confidence
00:30:32but it's a big must do better
00:30:34and no one likes to see him coming off injured
00:30:37and we hope his knee is ok
00:30:38but there are two chances that you'd expect at that level
00:30:42that someone has to put away
00:30:44Thomas Frank was saying obviously you're going to be disappointed
00:30:46when you concede that late on in a game
00:30:49when you've been leading 2-1
00:30:51but their home record Tottenham is so poor
00:30:53and has been since before Thomas Frank as well
00:30:56when you look at the results since the start of 2025
00:31:00they are bottom of that particular team
00:31:03Well I think what they have to get used to now under Thomas Frank
00:31:05is that teams are going to come to their stadium
00:31:08and they're going to sit and defend
00:31:10and then they've got to try and find and work their way out
00:31:12whereas when Tottenham are going away from home
00:31:14teams will attack them and that suits them better
00:31:17As for Manchester United injuries
00:31:19they're going to be a problem continuing for them
00:31:21and there were more in today's game Theo
00:31:24Yeah of course but look the international break always comes at a good time for certain clubs
00:31:27but certainly right now it's coming at a good time for United
00:31:30Yeah
00:31:32Now last weekend's win against Newcastle was West Ham's first
00:31:35since Nuno Espirito Santo took over
00:31:37and their first at home this season
00:31:39Burnley with the visitors this time looking for back-to-back away wins
00:31:43Your commentator Jonathan Pearce
00:31:44Despite last weekend's win over Newcastle
00:31:49once again West Ham fans have staged a protest against the club hierarchy
00:31:53with a petition calling for David Sullivan and Karen Brady to step down
00:31:57reportedly signed by more than 16,000
00:31:59and the West Ham fan advisory board passing a vote of no confidence in the board
00:32:04There were definite signs of improvement last week for Nuno Espirito Santo's side
00:32:08who were looking for back-to-back wins for the first time since February
00:32:10and unsurprisingly they're unchanged
00:32:13Jarrah Bowen plays his 250th game for the club
00:32:16Burnley make one change from the home defeat by Arsenal
00:32:19and revert to a back-four by bringing in Lume Chona and rotating Laurent to the bench
00:32:25Burnley have won just two of the last 11 top-flight away games against West Ham
00:32:28so the omens favour the home side
00:32:33but you never know with West Ham
00:32:35Walker
00:32:37goes long
00:32:39look for a Quilinchi Hartman
00:32:40it's a good ball in the middle
00:32:42really well played that Burnley
00:32:44just too far ahead of Jan Fleming
00:32:47from 15 yards inside their own half
00:32:50they were inside the West Ham six-yard box with two touches
00:32:53Scott Parker
00:32:57five years as a player here between his Newcastle and Tottenham days
00:33:00won the Footballer of the Year award while he was here
00:33:02and the England Player of the Year award as well
00:33:05he had 129 games for West Ham
00:33:08Hartman
00:33:09long up to Fleming who did well
00:33:16Chona
00:33:20nice cross in
00:33:23lovely header, Burnley are ahead
00:33:25West Ham have seven defenders back in the box
00:33:29and yet it was far too easy for Sian Fleming to head home his fourth of the season
00:33:34big question was Fleming onside
00:33:36as he heads back
00:33:39Chona
00:33:40then rolls it wide to Ugachukwu
00:33:42this is a measured lovely bending cross
00:33:45straight onto his forehead
00:33:47good centre forwards header
00:33:49they're checking though for offside
00:33:50and my first thoughts
00:33:52are he looked offside in the build up
00:33:55the goal is given
00:33:57Burnley are ahead
00:33:59West Ham's confidence very brittle
00:34:02Burnley have been the better side
00:34:03it's a better side
00:34:05Bowen
00:34:06stricken his way through
00:34:08and sneaking a shot at goal that nearly crept in
00:34:11deflected wide from Jarrod Bowen
00:34:14promising link up between Wilson and him
00:34:17I thought for Burnley they hold on here until half time
00:34:21oh there's a header on goal
00:34:22I think it was Kilman up from the back that was blocked
00:34:27and they're looking for back to back away wins of course having triumphs at Wolves 3-2
00:34:34but they're under pressure here now coming to the end of the first half
00:34:38opportunity to get the crossing here now through Juve right footed towards that back post area pressure from Kilman
00:34:43Walker gets it away
00:34:45Walker gets it away
00:34:51Walker was shouting at Florentino there who allowed the cross to come in
00:34:56corner taken very quickly
00:34:57Somerville
00:34:59it's in! Wilson!
00:35:03Burnley licked to a flag that hasn't come yet
00:35:05at West Ham at level
00:35:07and that is what he does
00:35:09he poaches goals
00:35:11penalty box
00:35:12pellet up
00:35:14Callum Wilson only a second since joining the club
00:35:16how many of his 143 club career goals has he snuffled up like that
00:35:22gambling that the ball might come to it
00:35:27Cullen
00:35:28point for Burnley
00:35:30we'll give them 11 from 11 games
00:35:32it's a really good return
00:35:34the promoted side
00:35:35they want more though
00:35:37Guarantino
00:35:39Anthony with the cross
00:35:40looking for Flemming
00:35:42we've already seen what he can do in the air with his headed goal
00:35:45can he outlet the defence
00:35:48this time can't allow crosses to come in like this
00:35:52Burnley on the attack
00:35:54looking here for Breuer
00:35:55he's there again
00:36:00Armando Breuer
00:36:01into the penalty is strong
00:36:02so too though was
00:36:03Juan Bersaca
00:36:06Anthony has stayed down for Burnley
00:36:14West Ham counter
00:36:16and here's Somerville
00:36:18nice ledger with the defender
00:36:20Glenn for the near post angle
00:36:21this is an opportunity
00:36:23he chose the wrong option really
00:36:25I think
00:36:26Bowen wanted it in the middle
00:36:27that's
00:36:28too tight an angle
00:36:29to beat the goalkeeper
00:36:34Fernandes
00:36:35a good game for West Ham
00:36:36purposeful
00:36:38Somerville
00:36:39in their brightest spark perhaps
00:36:41Fernandes into the middle
00:36:43swatched away by Twanzaby for a corner
00:36:46the London Stadium roars
00:36:47the Burnley fans away to the right-hand side
00:36:51hope their team can cling on
00:36:56Somerville with the corner kick
00:37:01comes out of Paquette
00:37:02placed and it's in
00:37:03Zocic
00:37:04West Ham had the lead
00:37:06Burnley stood
00:37:08looked
00:37:09lift arms
00:37:10looking for upside
00:37:11it's a similar goal to West Ham's first in many ways
00:37:1314 minutes to go
00:37:15a precious moment for West Ham
00:37:18the goalkeeper does not cover himself with distinction there
00:37:22pushed out by Dubravka
00:37:24straight onto the body of Socek
00:37:27the protests have gone on
00:37:30but on the pitch it smiles now
00:37:34Florentino
00:37:37Cullen doesn't deserve to be on the losing side
00:37:40Hannibal Mabry
00:37:41Walker
00:37:46Walker
00:37:48low cross in
00:37:49came off Arreola
00:37:50managed to block it
00:37:52he was very nearly forced in by Florentino's touch
00:37:56Arreola spread himself well to make a really important save
00:38:01lively ending to the game
00:38:03Lively ending to the game
00:38:08Fernandes
00:38:09hungry for the ball
00:38:10good sign that
00:38:12to Diba
00:38:14to Igor
00:38:17Socek
00:38:21Ron Bissaka's out wide
00:38:22goes for goal
00:38:23keeper spilt it
00:38:25it's in
00:38:26Bowen steps for it
00:38:28so too for West Ham United
00:38:30did Karl Walker-Peters
00:38:32and he's celebrating as if he got the final touch
00:38:36and when the final whistle comes West Ham will have won it
00:38:39a third goal
00:38:41to put the game beyond Burnley
00:38:43and once again they'll have to look at the keeper Martin Dubravka
00:38:45Walker-Peters
00:38:46Walker-Peters got there just ahead of his teammate Bowen to nudge home his first for the club
00:38:553-1 for West Ham for the second week running here
00:39:00played out wide
00:39:11need to get it into Broje in the box surely
00:39:13Brun Larsson there
00:39:14Socek's gone down for West Ham
00:39:17hobbling a little bit
00:39:18Annabelle's gone for goal
00:39:19Arreola spilt it
00:39:21and it's forced in by Cullen
00:39:24and the former West Ham United youngster has breathed new life into the game
00:39:28but I don't think they'll have enough time
00:39:31well I don't think anyone could see a 3-2 scoreline
00:39:35early on in the game
00:39:39that last glass dramatic goal for Burnley means nothing in the end
00:39:43for West Ham it's back-to-back wins for the first time since February
00:39:47all smiles now have they turned the corner
00:39:50It was a big game
00:39:51we knew the magnitude of it and going behind wasn't ideal
00:39:54but we showed last week we got good character once we have gone behind
00:39:57we've started sticking together as a group more
00:40:01we know we have to dig in, work harder for each other and become a team
00:40:04and I feel like we've done that last week and we've built on it again this week
00:40:07Unfortunately again we react to the goal that we can see
00:40:11the reaction was good but this is not the way that we wanted
00:40:14but again I think we proved that we want to change things
00:40:18we want to be strong characters in the pitch and the boys
00:40:21I think slowly are giving these small steps towards what I think should be a team
00:40:27Do you blame individuals? The goalkeeper is obviously going to come under scrutiny
00:40:31or do you just take it as a team?
00:40:33Well definitely there's individuals, keeper definitely not
00:40:35but there's definitely individuals and I think as a group as well
00:40:38in terms of when we score the goal there's definitely areas where we just
00:40:41we turn the game into exactly what West Ham want it to be
00:40:43they want it to be end-to-end, they want it to be a basketball match and we turn it into that
00:40:47when for 30 odd minutes we just literally controlled every bit of them, nunified them in every way
00:40:52and got our nose in front and we fell away from that
00:40:55now that's players on the pitch and understanding that which we need to improve
00:40:59That wasn't pretty today by any means but it's something to go from
00:41:03Tell you what it wasn't pretty, I tried the Sochek goal celebration last Friday night
00:41:06coming out of the pub at 11 o'clock it ended very ugly I can tell you, don't try it
00:41:10No, I have my own but if he keeps coming on, nicking goals like that for us it's a massive help
00:41:17And if you're watching, having been at the pub, please don't try that celebration at home
00:41:22we need to say that just to make sure everybody stays safe
00:41:25Look, it was a game that took a little while to catch fire and struggled to at times, Alan
00:41:30apart from one player in particular, Mateus Fernandes
00:41:33Yeah, I thought he was outstanding and the stats will tell you, he was without doubt, I thought the best player on the park
00:41:41You're right, the standard wasn't great at times today but he was the standout for the vast majority of the game
00:41:48He was the one that was at least trying to drive his team forward
00:41:51whatever he did, I thought he did very well, whether that was attacking, playing balls in behind
00:41:56doing his bit defensively, which of course he has to do, I thought he did that really, really well
00:42:01and I thought he set a great example of what the West Ham fans want
00:42:06and did really well in forward positions, whether that was a little give-go, little balls around the corner
00:42:11this one here, when he just gives and then follows the pass in behind
00:42:15and it's not a bad ball in either
00:42:18so, yeah, he was the excellent player
00:42:21but then, they didn't really have that much of a threat
00:42:24but I thought Suchek, when he came on, it was better
00:42:28because he gives them something different
00:42:30he gives them a threat in that box when balls are coming in
00:42:34alright, they got a little bit of a warning here
00:42:36Fernandes again, driving forward
00:42:38nothing comes of it other than, I say, a corner
00:42:42and that's exactly what they want
00:42:44and they actually score from the corner
00:42:46but it's him again that's driving his team forward
00:42:49I mean, Dubravka won't want to watch this again
00:42:52because it's an absolute howler from him
00:42:54but, they didn't really have that threat, you know
00:42:57Callum Wilson, I know, but Suchek certainly changed out there
00:43:00ball goes into him, gets his goal, gets the assist as well
00:43:04with that much space to run into, I don't care who you are
00:43:06you're going to put the team under pressure
00:43:09and that's what happened, and then Walker Peters
00:43:11and Bowen are fighting over the ball
00:43:13it doesn't matter who puts it in, it's just someone has to
00:43:16and Walker Peters did that
00:43:18and that is a huge win for West Ham
00:43:20back-to-back wins, you can see what it means to Nuno
00:43:22The club say about 2-3 thousand fans were protesting before the game
00:43:26about the board, in terms of what's happening on the pitch
00:43:29Nuno said small steps, can you start to see the progress?
00:43:32I mean, they've come from behind to win two weeks running now
00:43:35Yeah, that's right, I think that would be the real positive
00:43:38going 1-0 behind last week to Newcastle
00:43:40coming back and getting the points
00:43:42doing exactly the same thing today
00:43:44so I think in terms of he thinks, at least I've got a squad that's reacting to me
00:43:47wants to work for me and fight for me
00:43:49so they've shown their attitude
00:43:51but I certainly understand their fans
00:43:53and they're doing the protest absolutely
00:43:55because at times West Ham haven't been good enough, it's been a while
00:43:58Now there are five games in a bumper Sunday match of the day
00:44:02match of the day
00:44:06He finishes yet another
00:44:08It secures the points for the champions
00:44:11Villa swing into the lead
00:44:14That was very sweet indeed
00:44:16It's a chance to go
00:44:20Oh, that's brilliant
00:44:22That was pinpoint stuff
00:44:24That is a bangers
00:44:27You won't see a better header this weekend
00:44:30Fabulous strike from Welbeck
00:44:33And you can follow all those games on 5 Live and BBC Sounds tomorrow
00:44:42Premier League Sunday kicks off at 12

00:45:03And you can also find the goals from every Premier League match
00:45:07Everton and Fulham were separated by just a single point coming into their game
00:45:12With both sides struggling to score this season
00:45:15Commentary comes from Connor McNamara
00:45:16This is the first home game here since Everton lost at their new stadium for the very first time against Spurs two weeks ago
00:45:27You have to go back to 2011 for the last time Everton lost back to back home games under David Moyes
00:45:34There is one change from the draw at Sunderland last time out
00:45:39Tim Iribunum comes into the midfield
00:45:41James Garner moves back to right back
00:45:44And Jake O'Brien who had started every Premier League game this season before today
00:45:48Drops to the bench
00:45:50Fulham also make one change from their much needed win against Wolves last weekend
00:45:54Sasha Lukic comes in to replace Josh King
00:45:57Alex Iwobi starts against his old club
00:46:00Iwobi scored against Everton in this game last season
00:46:05Last time Everton beat Fulham in a Premier League home game
00:46:09Marco Silva was the Everton manager that was all the way back in 2018
00:46:13Barry, nicely done, chesting it down for Dewsbury Hall
00:46:17Sasha Lukic leads in and gives away the free kick
00:46:20And Sasha Lukic who has committed more fouls this season than any other player in the Premier League
00:46:26And he picks up an early yellow card here today
00:46:30Body language would suggest James Garner might even fancy this
00:46:34Oh he does
00:46:36And it was on target too
00:46:38Best save of the early stages from Bert Leno
00:46:40Tell you what, that's really well struck isn't it?
00:46:43Moving away from the goalkeeper
00:46:45Too hot for Bert Leno to handle
00:46:46Once a blue, always a blue
00:46:50Wayne Rooney sitting behind Peter Reid
00:46:55He's got very impressive headwear
00:46:57Michael Keane beaten by Raul Jimenez
00:47:03This is Alex Iwobi
00:47:05Jimenez, shot on target but comfortable for Pickford
00:47:08Some distribution by Jordan Pickford
00:47:14The pick out Jack Grealish
00:47:18Against Kelly Tete
00:47:22Finds Dewsbury Hall
00:47:26Picking by Andy Segei
00:47:28And it must be Tino Barry but the flag is up
00:47:31Everton are offside
00:47:33Really nice build up you have to say
00:47:35Ujjay who is in front of Bassey as the pass was played in
00:47:41The on-field call is confirmed
00:47:44Everton were offside
00:47:48James Garner Hall
00:47:52Now the foul
00:47:54Cesar Lugic is already on the yellow card from Ember
00:47:57And the Everton fans are doing their best
00:48:00To remind referee Andy Madley of that fact
00:48:02Cesar Lugic fortunate
00:48:05Not to have seen a second yellow there
00:48:08He's certainly on the tightrope now
00:48:11This is Grealish
00:48:15Sells the dummy to Wilson
00:48:17Now he delivers
00:48:19Just too high for Tarkovsky
00:48:21In jive, Garner
00:48:23Michael Keane
00:48:25Saved by Leno Tarkovsky
00:48:26But the flag is up again
00:48:29For the second time in this first half
00:48:33An Everton goal is ruled out for offside
00:48:37James Tarkovsky who initially was in an offside position there
00:48:42As Grealish sent it in
00:48:44And the same player
00:48:46Who wants to kick the ball into the back of the net
00:48:48But the assistant
00:48:50Pinging the offside for the earlier encroachment
00:48:53Behind the Fulham defence
00:48:55Grealish
00:48:59Blocked by Wilson
00:49:01Irobutum though
00:49:02Is kept it alive for Everton
00:49:04This is Mikelenko
00:49:06And it's Tarkovsky
00:49:08And Irobutum couldn't follow up
00:49:10But Andresa Gay does
00:49:12And after two goals disallowed in this first half
00:49:17Everton finally take the lead
00:49:20It's stoppage time ahead of the break
00:49:22Time ahead of the break
00:49:24It's his second Premier League goal of the season
00:49:27Scored in the Merseyside derby in September
00:49:30As persistence pays here for Everton
00:49:33They kept plucking away
00:49:34Tarkovsky
00:49:35Off the crossbar
00:49:36Irobutum misfiring
00:49:38But it was sure and it was true
00:49:41From Andresa Gay
00:49:43Everton one Fulham nil
00:49:46Passi
00:49:49Picks out Josh King
00:49:54Wilson
00:49:57Looking for the angle
00:49:58Harry Wilson
00:49:59Oh it takes a deflection
00:50:00And it was looping over Pickford
00:50:02And that's one of the more nervous moments
00:50:05For the England international keeper today
00:50:07Early stages of the second half
00:50:09Fulham have come out in a much more determined mood
00:50:11It would seem
00:50:15Mikelenko
00:50:18Injai's at the back post
00:50:21Dewsbury hole
00:50:23Everton got their second
00:50:24But the flag is up again
00:50:27For the third time today
00:50:29And Everton goal
00:50:30Gets disallowed
00:50:33Nick Hopton the assistant
00:50:35Seem to be mouthing the word Barry there
00:50:38As Injai
00:50:40Trying to pull it back here
00:50:41At this moment there
00:50:42Tino Barry is
00:50:43Offside of the ball
00:50:44Played towards him
00:50:45He's certainly in an active position
00:50:46Challenging for the ball
00:50:49Marcus Silva made one
00:50:50Substitution at
00:50:51Half-time
00:50:53No further two
00:50:54But his team are not firing all cylinders today
00:51:00King
00:51:02Muniz
00:51:03First chance for him since coming on
00:51:04Good save for Pickford
00:51:06Pickford
00:51:07That's exactly the sort of impact that
00:51:08That's exactly the sort of impact that
00:51:10Marcus Silva was hoping for bringing on
00:51:12Rodrigo Muniz
00:51:14Immediately played into a shooting position
00:51:17Good stop from Pickford
00:51:18Good reaction
00:51:20First chance for Beto since coming on
00:51:23Bassey in hot pursuit
00:51:24Roule
00:51:25Well blocked again by Sissi
00:51:26And Sissi appealing with the last touch came off Merlin Roule
00:51:39The on-field decision here is corner
00:51:41Fulham conceded a late 90th minute winning goal
00:51:47When they lost to Newcastle
00:51:48The most recent Premier League away game
00:51:51Marcus Silva will be hoping they don't concede late here
00:51:54Keenan Dewsbury Hall sends it in
00:51:55Michael Keane
00:51:56Keane
00:51:57And it's in
00:51:59That's the second goal
00:52:01That Everton so desperately craved
00:52:06And after three disallowed goals today
00:52:09Everton now have two on the scoreboard that stand
00:52:13On his 350th league appearance on his career
00:52:19Michael Keane makes it Everton 2
00:52:22Full of nil
00:52:24Off his shoulder
00:52:26Michael Keane gives Everton some breathing space
00:52:30I thought we played well enough today to win the game
00:52:33But Fulham were always a threat
00:52:35I think all the teams in the Premier League at the moment
00:52:36Offer some form of threat
00:52:38And you never know how things are going to go
00:52:40But I thought today we warranted it
00:52:42We got a couple of other goals ruled out
00:52:44So it gave us great highs
00:52:46But ultimately we didn't get anything from them
00:52:48To be fair I knew it hit my shoulder
00:52:49I think I've had it at first
00:52:50But I knew it hit my shoulder
00:52:51I knew it wasn't my arm
00:52:52So I knew it was safe
00:52:54But obviously disallowed
00:52:55But five goals
00:52:56Shows the pressure we were putting on
00:52:57I know a lot of them were set players
00:52:58Getting the ball in the box
00:52:59But I think that was part of the plan
00:53:01To put pressure on
00:53:02Especially at home
00:53:03Get the fans behind us
00:53:04And I thought we did that well today
00:53:05We played 20 minutes
00:53:06The first and 20 minutes of the second half
00:53:08Nothing more
00:53:09We played the game that we should
00:53:10We played with the aggressiveness on the ball
00:53:12And off the ball
00:53:13That this type of games we should play
00:53:15All the other moments of the game
00:53:17Was not good enough at all
00:53:18Unfortunately Rodrigo felt something again
00:53:21To protect himself and ourselves
00:53:23He was not in conditions to keep on the game
00:53:25And of course changed completely the plan again
00:53:27We went with a different profile of our number nine
00:53:31And it was more difficult after that for us
00:53:33I was actually very pleased with Tiano Barry today
00:53:35I thought that he had won his better games
00:53:38And he was a bit unlucky not to get the goal
00:53:40Which was ruled out
00:53:41But I thought he'd done a great job for the team today
00:53:43And what he's pressing was really positive for us
00:53:47We will talk about Tiano Barry in just a second
00:53:50But overall from Everton
00:53:52They've come away with a 2-0 win
00:53:53Where do you think they were most effective?
00:53:55They were most effective I felt
00:53:57Most of the time when you talk about teams
00:53:59You look at the spine of a team
00:54:00But for me it was more the midfield three
00:54:02With a heartbeat to everything that was good about Everton today
00:54:05In a game that needed a lot of energy
00:54:07And balance and desire
00:54:09And that's all the Everton fans really want in a team
00:54:12But Idrissa Gay has always been at Everton
00:54:16Evertonian at heart
00:54:17But what I really like with Drewsby Hall
00:54:18He's getting the minutes
00:54:19He's getting the time
00:54:20And he's the winning one out of the three
00:54:21Who's always willing to be
00:54:23To be able to create these chances out of nothing
00:54:26Technically on the ball as well
00:54:28Fantastic
00:54:29This is what I'm talking about
00:54:30He's the player that likes to carry the ball
00:54:33Ball carries, wins three kicks
00:54:34And we know how important three kicks are this season particularly
00:54:37I think he's playing with a lot more confidence as well
00:54:39This is the goal that actually leads to being offside with Endaye
00:54:43But you can just see the creating is coming from the midfield three
00:54:47Barry's a bit unlucky
00:54:48You know, Endaye was offside there
00:54:50This, if you want to call it an assist, is interesting
00:54:55But look, I love the fact they commit the bodies
00:54:57And just couldn't quite sort his feet out
00:55:00But his mate there to back him up to get his goal
00:55:02It does count as an assist
00:55:04It does count as an assist
00:55:05Which actually surprised me
00:55:06Because you don't have to do much these days
00:55:07But look, I really think
00:55:09Again, this was another offside goal
00:55:11Where it just shows they're being in the right positions at the right time
00:55:14Where you're going to be able to get the goals
00:55:16And Drewsby Hall, we know about his quality set-piece is really important
00:55:19It comes off Michael Keane's shoulder
00:55:21But look, I think he's been an absolutely fantastic signing for him
00:55:24I think he's deserved to be in this role
00:55:26And he's playing with a lot more confidence than he ever has done
00:55:28David Moyes wanted to give his support to Tiena Barry
00:55:31And so too did the Everton fans
00:55:33And in fact, he posted on Instagram
00:55:35Talking about the difficult start to the season without scoring
00:55:38But he really appreciated the ovation that he got when he came off
00:55:42He says that he feels that it's shown that he's on the right path
00:55:46Are you seeing that in his performances, Theo?
00:55:49I was today
00:55:50I think all the Everton fans ask is, you know, energy and hunger
00:55:54And willingness not to give up
00:55:56He scored 11 goals in La Liga
00:55:58And that's the thing that you're going to be judging, of course
00:56:00However, he'd be disappointed in that one
00:56:03But he's in the right position
00:56:04He's a player today, I just felt he wouldn't give up
00:56:06He didn't, you could shy away from things
00:56:08And just the luck's not on his side at this moment in time
00:56:11But look, I think it's important when you come from a different culture
00:56:13A different league, it's the settling quickly
00:56:15And I think the fans at Everton will really play a big part in that
00:56:18So I think that's a big ask for them
00:56:19But look, fantastic today for them
00:56:21And a real concern for Fulham
00:56:22That they can't score
00:56:24Three own goals
00:56:25Is their top scorer
00:56:27There we go then
00:56:29Well, they need to maybe sign those players
00:56:31But look, yeah, it's not good enough for Fulham
00:56:32Because they're a team that might get dragged into it
00:56:34Yeah
00:56:35Now, Chelsea were aiming for a return to the top four
00:56:38As they hosted managerless and winless Wolves
00:56:41In their first game since their sacking of Vito Pereira
00:56:44Commentary comes from Mark Scott
00:56:46The Wolves' hump for a new manager might be over soon
00:56:51With Borough boss Rob Edwards in talks about taking over
00:56:54Meanwhile Chelsea's search for consistency goes on
00:56:57After only managing a draw at Carabag in midweek
00:57:01But Enzo Maresca's not having chat about his regular mass rotation
00:57:05Being the reason behind it
00:57:07There is just one change from the win at Spurs
00:57:09As Liam DeLapp comes in for Rhys James
00:57:11Under-21's coach James Collins has picked the Wolves' side tonight
00:57:15And their fans will no doubt be delighted to see Andre and Jao Gomez return
00:57:19With Chatua and Hwang also coming in
00:57:22It's certainly been eventful recently between these two
00:57:2625 goals scored in the last four meetings in all competitions
00:57:32The latest of which a 4-3 Chelsea win at Molyneux in the League Cup last week
00:57:37Stran Larsson just about got that right
00:57:41Golgant's lost out
00:57:43Could be trouble here
00:57:44Garnacho
00:57:45But there is trouble
00:57:47For Santiago Bueno
00:57:49Cucarea won it back really well
00:57:51Garnacho was direct
00:57:52And Santiago Bueno has to give away the free kick in a useful area
00:57:57Enzo Fernandes
00:58:00Who's gone for goal
00:58:01And Johnston has to tip it away
00:58:03Really good try this from Enzo Fernandes
00:58:09And a smart stop from the Wolves' keeper
00:58:12Wayne Rooney said on his BBC podcast this week
00:58:15That Chelsea's senior players should question Enzo Mureska's rotation policy
00:58:20Mureska's reply was that it's impossible to play the same players all the time
00:58:24Given what a marathon the season is
00:58:26No one complains about it when they're winning
00:58:28Fafana
00:58:32Chau Pedro trying to tickle it round for Dilap
00:58:36He's given away in a bad area
00:58:38Enzo Fernandes
00:58:39Good ball Garnacho
00:58:40Well saved by Johnston
00:58:42But should Alejandro Garnacho have even given him the chance to make the save?
00:58:47Comfortable save for Sam Johnston
00:58:50And I think he should have found the net here
00:58:57Malocusto
00:58:59Not enough on that pass
00:59:01And Cucurea recused by the Wolves' players and fans of a foul
00:59:05But Andrew Kitchen wasn't having it
00:59:08Garnacho
00:59:12Wolves will be fuming if this leads to anything
00:59:15And Johnston's punch not the most convincing
00:59:17Fernandes
00:59:18And Johnston reacts to send it behind
00:59:21But Wolves feel it should be a free kick for them rather than a corner kick for Chelsea
00:59:26First piece of work from Johnston wasn't the most convincing
00:59:29Bit better on the follow-up when Fernandes let fly
00:59:33Enzo Fernandes with a corner kick
00:59:36And a tricky one to deal with which is off the line
00:59:42Johnston didn't get close to it
00:59:43He felt it was being fouled but it needed dealing with from on the goal line
00:59:53Chelsea have scored in all of their last 15 games in all competitions
00:59:58The last time that they drew a blank a goalless draw with Palace here on the opening weekend
01:00:02They have looked a bit short of ideas up top tonight though
01:00:08Garnacho
01:00:13Just delayed by Chatua
01:00:15Now it's Cucurea back for Alejandro Garnacho
01:00:18That's nice
01:00:19So is that
01:00:20Gusto!
01:00:23Malo Gusto's first ever senior goal gives Chelsea the lead
01:00:30What a moment for him
01:00:33And what a surprise it is
01:00:35To see that Malo Gusto's the man
01:00:37To find a way through the Wolves back line
01:00:41Credit to Alejandro Garnacho
01:00:43He is twisting and turning
01:00:45And curling ball in
01:00:47Which was begging to be put away
01:00:49Not the man that they thought would be the one to make it happen
01:00:55But Malo Gusto has made it
01:00:57Chelsea won
01:00:58Wolves nil
01:00:59Wolves nil
01:01:05Belguard
01:01:06Having a go
01:01:08I think Sanchez was always confident it was drifting over the top
01:01:12And that goes down as Wolves first shot in the game
01:01:16Even if it was a fair way off target

01:02:08The boys from Brazil to the business for Chelsea
01:02:11this for chelsea esteval who's been on the pitch for barely two minutes esteval's cut back getting
01:02:19a touch of cretci and then bang from ciao pedro who didn't even think about it instincts took over
01:02:27and that's what chelsea have lacked today there's been too much thinking
01:02:31but ciao pedro trusted his gut there and chelsea now are looking good for the win
01:02:37he's looking for stran larsen another head of shallabara now quickly on for garnacho
01:02:46pantiago bueno outpaced by garnacho and garnacho's cross netto game over now
01:02:56the former warmsman rubber stamps the win for chelsea
01:03:00and again there's credit very quickly for the man who was the provider alejandro
01:03:08garnacho this time the one to tee up a teammate two really good assists tonight from alejandro
01:03:16garnacho the first lap beautiful cross for gusto the second an excellent run and measured cross
01:03:23which again put it on a plate for another in blue pedro netto the beneficiary this time around
01:03:31and chelsea coasting to the win now
01:03:39they can put their feet up with the points in the bag chelsea three wolves now
01:03:45no team's ever stayed up in the premier league after taking just two points from their opening 10 games
01:03:54it's going to be two from 11 for wolves this season
01:04:01i say those rob that estepal now
01:04:03chel pedro in plenty of room garnacho was waiting chel pedro
01:04:08spilled and then mark you who's just come on couldn't convert the rebound
01:04:17all started with kaisedo nicking possession esteval to xao pedro
01:04:20whose effort was deflected that's why johnston made a bit of a meal of it
01:04:25but mark guillo unable to take advantage off the post and out
01:04:38now munetzi searching through the middle and nearly getting them on the board tonight
01:04:45munetzi onto it but half a yard wide at the post that was almost another of the
01:04:51silly goals that chelsea have conceded recently in the words of ento mareska
01:04:58there's sometimes a bit of negativity around the way things are going but right now things are looking
01:05:03good no it's more noise from outside inside we are convinced that we go in the right direction
01:05:12but uh at the same time we can do many things better when we look at the squad do you think
01:05:17there's enough out there to still stay in the premier league yeah i do i really do our season
01:05:22won't be decided on chelsea away like today what i've seen but they've shown they can show spirit
01:05:27they've shown they can so drive determination and then if we can add a little bit quality to it then
01:05:32who knows alejandro garnacho scored for you in the week and two really really good assists tonight
01:05:37as well yeah it was very good it was very good but not only on the ball it was also very good off the
01:05:42ball the way was pressing and this is what we need from our wingers it was really straightforward
01:05:49for chelsea against a team who are without a manager without a win so far in the premier league
01:05:53this season but enzo mareska singled out alejandro garnacho what did you make of him alan yeah i was
01:05:58really impressed with him scored in midweek as he said and i think it was his best game today i
01:06:02thought he caused problems uh all evening down that uh down the left hand side and uh whoever was was
01:06:09coming up against him he had uh he had more pace than we went past them with uh with ease and he was
01:06:15a real threat and putting balls good balls into the uh into the into the box for his uh for his forwards
01:06:20and of course they benefited from that i thought he looked really really comfortable you can see
01:06:25he can see that what he wants to do and all right i think the goalkeeper should do better there but
01:06:29at least he's going past the defender and at least he's getting balls into the box which is what he
01:06:34did really really well here it's a it's a it's a really clever ball in gustos first goal it was like
01:06:40put on a plate but this one for me i mean going past when i look he's just not going to catch him and
01:06:46then sometimes the most difficult pass when someone is free in the middle and there's no one around you but
01:06:51not on that occasion internet offer an absolute tap in how you like them as any forward and i thought
01:06:56he was a real threat all evening theo wolves don't have a manager yet but rob edwards contract at
01:07:01middlesbrough has been suspended because he wanted permission to to talk to wolves the clubs have
01:07:06agreed uh have come to an agreement it's now about agreeing personal terms for rob edwards do you feel
01:07:12that this is a side that can stay up given that no side with two points at this stage of the season
01:07:18has ever survived in the premier league i think it's been too too difficult very difficult as
01:07:22well when a new manager comes in new ideas players can always find that quite difficult to adapt but
01:07:27look i think it's a big ass of wolves to now stay in this league i think it's too much for them now
01:07:31so would it then be a surprising move for rob edwards well i get his connection with wolves and where he
01:07:38is and it has a house in the particular area but i think middlesbrough give him a great opportunity
01:07:44and i think it's very very harsh on them and i think it's a huge risk from his point of view because
01:07:49i don't see them staying up at all i don't see enough ability in that uh in that squad and i don't
01:07:53see it being very inviting for any player to go there in january either so it's a big gamble
01:07:58let's take a look then at the premier league table arsenal are still six points clear at the top
01:08:04chelsea have climbed to second and just two points separate them and eighth place manchester united
01:08:10everton are up three places they're into 11th fulham remain 15th west ham stay in the bottom three
01:08:16only behind burnley on goal difference winners wolves stay bottom thank you very much to alan
01:08:24shirer and theo welcott for your company this evening so arsenal drop points at sunderland
01:08:29who are unbeaten at home their house party continues thanks to mr brobby
