00:00:00Welcome to Match of the Dead.
00:00:30Welcome to Match of the Dead.
00:01:00Liverpool's five defeats was already one more than they lost en route to their title
00:01:04and they have received some criticism along the way.
00:01:07Nottingham Forest were the only team to win at Anfield last season.
00:01:10Your commentator Steve Bauer.
00:01:14Liverpool have been beaten here just once in 22 league games since that famous Forest victory.
00:01:19They'll hope to use Anfield as the foundation for some much-needed immediate consistency.
00:01:24The champions are boosted by the return of Alisson in goal after an eight-game absence,
00:01:29but can't call on Conor Bradley or Florian Witt because of injury.
00:01:33So Gakpo and Jones start as do both Izak and Kerkhez with Eketike and Robertson on the bench.
00:01:40Mo Salah makes his 300th Premier League appearance for the club.
00:01:44Nottingham Forest named the team that beat Leeds 3-1 last time out.
00:01:48Morgan Gibbs-White bids to score in three successive matches for the first time in his career.
00:01:53Callum Hudson-Odoi, the match winner here last season, is back as a substitute.
00:02:00So Liverpool, start of a packed schedule for them, the first of seven games in 22 days.
00:02:06No breaks now, full throttle.
00:02:08Gakpo against Savona, and round the Italian.
00:02:13Still Gakpo, and surely, what a save to deny McAllister.
00:02:23Might have been Selzy, might have been the defender.
00:02:25There's McAllister again.
00:02:27And Forest survive.
00:02:28I think this was a block by the defender to deny Alexis McAllister after this brilliant work from Gakpo.
00:02:36So, it is.
00:02:38It's Elliot Anderson.
00:02:40And that was a crucial block.
00:02:43Four points from nine so far.
00:02:45Plus a win and a draw in the Europa League.
00:02:46Very steady start to life at the club where he began his footballing adventure.
00:02:53Now Salah.
00:02:54Just skip into space.
00:02:56Still going, Mo Salah.
00:02:59And Kerkhez.
00:03:01Just fell slightly behind the Hungarian.
00:03:04Couldn't quite sort his feet out.
00:03:08Vintage Mo Salah here in the build-up.
00:03:11Kerkhez.
00:03:12Just couldn't quite get his balance.
00:03:14Ravenberg overran that.
00:03:24Now Loving and Forest were looking for a foul there.
00:03:27By McAllister.
00:03:29On Sangare.
00:03:32Andy Madley wasn't interested.
00:03:33Liverpool trying to break.
00:03:35Gakpo doesn't get his foul either.
00:03:36James Bell in VAR is having a close look at this.
00:03:47And he has checked and cleared it.
00:03:49Isak.
00:03:58It's a boss lay on to his left and deflected over.
00:04:04Montelliot-Anderson.
00:04:07He's been heavily involved in defensive duty so far.
00:04:10Liverpool pressure continues.
00:04:19Kerkhez with the cross.
00:04:21All the way through to Salah.
00:04:24Murillo.
00:04:25This time in the way.
00:04:27Jesus for Forest.
00:04:34Waiting for some support.
00:04:36And Doi was trying to offer it.
00:04:38But Forest not only have relieved the pressure.
00:04:41But they've got their first corner of the game in the process.
00:04:45Heavy touch from Canate.
00:04:49Elliott Anderson with it.
00:04:51Oh, it was an inviting one.
00:04:53Still might be.
00:04:53And it is.
00:04:57Murillo.
00:04:59With just his third ever Premier League goal.
00:05:03To stun Anfield and the champions.
00:05:06Their first corner of the game.
00:05:08Results in the first goal of the game.
00:05:11Let's check this.
00:05:12In from Anderson.
00:05:14Endoy.
00:05:15In front of the goalkeeper.
00:05:16Is he onside?
00:05:17That's what VAR will look at.
00:05:20Very smart finish.
00:05:22From the central defender.
00:05:23Is Endoy impeding Alisson's view.
00:05:26He appeals straight away.
00:05:27The Liverpool goalkeeper.
00:05:31Well, James Bell has looked at it.
00:05:34And he confirms the goal.
00:05:36And Nottingham Forest.
00:05:38Lead 1-0 at Anfield.
00:05:40Now, this will be interesting.
00:05:41Because we know 13 days ago.
00:05:45What Liverpool's gripe was at the Etihad.
00:05:48With that man involved.
00:05:49And Arna Slott.
00:05:52Will point to an identical situation.
00:05:55When Van Dijk's goal didn't stand.
00:05:57But Murillo's does.
00:06:02Here come Forest again.
00:06:04And Kyrgyz sliding in.
00:06:07To halt the progress of Danendoy.
00:06:16Sangares cross.
00:06:17Jesus!
00:06:192-0!
00:06:22Liverpool appealing for handball.
00:06:24Andy Madley has cut Forest short.
00:06:28And he's denied another Brazilian a goal.
00:06:32Ooh.
00:06:33Might need another angle to see if that hits hand or chest here.
00:06:37That looks like chest to me.
00:06:40Anfield holds its breath.
00:06:42Andy Madley has ruled this out.
00:06:44On field.
00:06:45And now James Bell.
00:06:46In VAR.
00:06:47Will have the final say.
00:06:51And.
00:06:53VAR.
00:06:54Has confirmed that.
00:06:55As accidental handball.
00:06:58And no goal.
00:07:01But I think if Liverpool are rightly aggrieved.
00:07:03With the first goal standing.
00:07:05They might be slightly fortunate with the second goal not.
00:07:10Salah.
00:07:11He's got away from Williams this time.
00:07:13He's got McAllister in support.
00:07:14Went alone.
00:07:16And the cells.
00:07:17Made absolutely sure it is near post.
00:07:20Had to squeeze it home at that near post.
00:07:23Gave the goalkeeper the eyes.
00:07:26So Nottingham Forest get us underway in the second half.
00:07:28Yet to win away from home in the Premier League this season.
00:07:32Leading the champions.
00:07:33Who themselves.
00:07:35Are behind at half time.
00:07:38For the eighth time.
00:07:39In the last eleven games.
00:07:41And incidentally I haven't won any of those.
00:07:43Previous seven.
00:07:45Savona's cross straight away for Forest here.
00:07:51Dominguez.
00:07:51Back to Anderson.
00:07:57Oh there could be danger here.
00:08:04There is.
00:08:05Oh Nottingham Forest have scored.
00:08:0739 seconds.
00:08:09Into the second half.
00:08:11And it's Nicolo Savona.
00:08:13And it's Nicolo Savona.
00:08:14The Italian.
00:08:16Who silences Anfield.
00:08:19He's added to his first goal for the club against Manchester United.
00:08:24By scoring against Liverpool.
00:08:26And their summer signing from Juventus.
00:08:29Cannot believe it.
00:08:31Nico Williams.
00:08:32Got around McAllister.
00:08:34Pulled it back.
00:08:35And the fullback couldn't believe his luck.
00:08:37And Nottingham Forest are halfway to back-to-back league wins at Anfield.
00:08:45For the first time since 1963.
00:08:48Liverpool nil.
00:08:50Nottingham Forest two.
00:08:51Lovely touch from Saboslai.
00:08:58It's Salah.
00:08:58And it's wide.
00:09:03Couldn't mark his 300th Premier League appearance for Liverpool.
00:09:07With an all-important goal back.
00:09:10That look says it all.
00:09:16Jesus.
00:09:18With the hold at play.
00:09:19That forces the free kick and.
00:09:21Oh Slat's latest roll of the dice is the 17-year-old.
00:09:26Rio Engamaua.
00:09:28And it is Liverpool's number 17.
00:09:32Curtis Jones.
00:09:34That makes way.
00:09:37Engamaua's fifth Premier League appearance.
00:09:42Hutchinson for Forest.
00:09:45Might have a shooting opportunity.
00:09:47Good save from Alisson.
00:09:49Gibbs-White.
00:09:503-0 Nottingham Forest.
00:09:53Morgan Gibbs-White.
00:09:55Scores in three successive league games.
00:09:58For the first time in his career.
00:09:59For the first time in his career.
00:10:00And piles more misery.
00:10:03On Arna Slott and the champions.
00:10:08Amari Hutchinson.
00:10:10At the heart of it.
00:10:11He drew the save from Alisson.
00:10:13And then Gibbs-White.
00:10:14Alive.
00:10:15Cool and clinical.
00:10:17To sweep it home.
00:10:19What a scoreline from the team that started the weekend.
00:10:23Second from bottom.
00:10:24They are heading for back-to-back league wins.
00:10:27At Anfield.
00:10:29For the first time since 1963.
00:10:31It's broken to Salah.
00:10:40They're queuing up here.
00:10:41And Forest still got in the way.
00:10:43It's another day at Anfield for Nottingham Forest to remember.
00:10:55This time under Sean Dyche.
00:10:57Who piles more misery on Arna Slott.
00:11:01And the reigning champions.
00:11:02Who've now lost six of their last seven Premier League games.
00:11:07Liverpool 0.
00:11:09Nottingham Forest 3.
00:11:11I must ask you about 1-0.
00:11:1213 days on from the Etihad.
00:11:15Did you have a thought that it might have been similar to Andy Robertson?
00:11:19I don't know.
00:11:20The thing I heard was that it wasn't offside.
00:11:23So it's not offside.
00:11:25There's nothing to debate.
00:11:27So yeah.
00:11:29After half an hour.
00:11:31I think we were a better team.
00:11:33We were creating, creating.
00:11:34But then the game completely changed.
00:11:36By that set piece.
00:11:37Because the hour afterwards.
00:11:40Yeah.
00:11:40We were maybe trying.
00:11:41But hardly created any chance.
00:11:44And I tried a few things that didn't work out.
00:11:46And that's why I say.
00:11:47In the end if things go well or don't go well.
00:11:49It's my responsibility.
00:11:50We were just not good.
00:11:51Good.
00:11:51In terms of the battles.
00:11:53The challenges.
00:11:54The second ball fight.
00:11:56Too rushed.
00:11:59So it's a very, very difficult situation at the moment.
00:12:02Eight goals in the league under you.
00:12:04The great entertainers.
00:12:05Well.
00:12:06As if by my cheek.
00:12:08No I don't think it's quite that easy.
00:12:10I like them boring 1-0s.
00:12:11Trust me.
00:12:12Them clean sheets.
00:12:12Them 1-0s.
00:12:13They'll do me.
00:12:13But no.
00:12:14It's great for the fans.
00:12:15And it's another step though.
00:12:16I reminded the players.
00:12:17They said another day off tomorrow.
00:12:18I said I don't think so.
00:12:20They know.
00:12:20They're learning quickly.
00:12:21What's he had you doing to put in a performance like that today?
00:12:25Defending.
00:12:26A bit of running?
00:12:27Yeah.
00:12:27Running.
00:12:28Defending.
00:12:29All the hard stuff.
00:12:31Not the pretty stuff.
00:12:33But listen it works.
00:12:34And we showed that today.
00:12:36Forest isn't it?
00:12:37That bad isn't it?
00:12:37I've never got a chance to play in the kit.
00:12:39I'm certainly wearing it now.
00:12:40Well done today.
00:12:41Cheers.
00:12:41He's loving it.
00:12:43The hard work is evidently paying off.
00:12:45Back-to-back wins in the league.
00:12:47Just the fourth visiting side to win a Premier League game at Anfield by three goals.
00:12:51And they took advantage of so many of the weaknesses that Liverpool have that Virgil van Dijk spoke about there.
00:12:58Yeah, they did.
00:12:58And I think that's a concern when your captain's speaking like that about the players lacking fights and not winning second balls and winning the challenges.
00:13:06But if we have a look here at how Nottingham Forest prepared themselves against Liverpool, they allowed Liverpool to come on to them early on, as we see here.
00:13:16And they were sucking Liverpool into traps all afternoon.
00:13:20And then as we look here, the ball gets cleared out of the box.
00:13:24Forest winning the second ball.
00:13:26And now running forwards, running off the back of the Liverpool players with pace making it difficult for Liverpool.
00:13:31Liverpool not getting back quick enough.
00:13:33And then Canarte actually gets there.
00:13:34He's in a good position, but sloppy.
00:13:37He kicks the ball out for the easy corner.
00:13:39And then from the corner, Liverpool are tied to the Forest players.
00:13:44But then as the ball comes into the box, Morelo, he's just hanging around the back here.
00:13:53Van Dijk gets a bit of a head on it.
00:13:55It falls to him.
00:13:56He's got a lot of space, a lot of time in the penalty area.
00:13:58And it's a really good finish.
00:14:00And then here from a throw in, again, it's sloppy.
00:14:04You look at Jesus in the box.
00:14:05He's just pulling off the back of Canarte.
00:14:07He makes a little movement, gets across the front to him.
00:14:09And he's very unlucky that he didn't get another goal from this.
00:14:14Again here, Forest running off the back of Salah here.
00:14:19McAllister gets sucked out.
00:14:20He has to get out then to try and get on the ball.
00:14:23This is 30, 35 seconds into the second half.
00:14:28Cut back into the box.
00:14:302-0.
00:14:31Forest in a very comfortable position.
00:14:33And then here you see Arnie Slott, as he's mentioned after the game, he tried to change rope.
00:14:37He tried to make changes to try and get Liverpool back into the game.
00:14:40But you see, they're switched off.
00:14:42They're not concentrated.
00:14:44They're not talking.
00:14:45They're not communicating with each other.
00:14:47And Forest play a quick free kick.
00:14:51Hutchinson has loads of space.
00:14:52Hutchinson, they don't get close enough to him.
00:14:54They allow his pick-up speed.
00:14:56He runs into the box.
00:14:57Gets a shot off.
00:14:58And Gibbs-White gets the rebound.
00:15:003-0.
00:15:00And a well-deserved victory for Nautical Forest, who I thought were excellent.
00:15:03And for that hour, as Arnie Slott says, they were comfortable.
00:15:07And to be fair to Arnie Slott as well, he didn't make a big thing of the first goal.
00:15:12And it's kind of sod's law, isn't it?
00:15:15That two weeks ago, they have one disallowed in similar circumstances.
00:15:19And now this one's allowed.
00:15:22Yeah.
00:15:22And it's a goal.
00:15:23And in my opinion, two weeks ago, it was a goal.
00:15:25And you're looking at this and you're saying, well, you know, there's no debating whether in front of Becker, Alisson Becker, he's offside.
00:15:33But if we can zoom around, you're looking at the strike and the lack of movement from Ndoy on impact.
00:15:41Becker, Alisson can see the ball.
00:15:42He can see the strike.
00:15:44And from there, the main difference.
00:15:46There, he's got a view there, yeah?
00:15:47He's got a view.
00:15:48The main difference, as you look at Ndoy, he makes no movement whatsoever.
00:15:53And there's no chance of Alisson to make the save.
00:15:56There's not making an impact on him and his ability to make the save.
00:16:00That's one of the key things.
00:16:01The other thing is the lack of movement.
00:16:03Andy Robertson ducked.
00:16:05That arguably has a difference.
00:16:07In my opinion, they're both goals.
00:16:08But that one definitely was.
00:16:10You've both played in teams that have struggled.
00:16:13You've been in teams that have been successful and then struggled.
00:16:17There is no doubt Liverpool are struggling.
00:16:18When a captain of a team comes out and talks about losing battles and losing challenges and them not being on it and the second balls, is that a message for the dressing room more than the fans?
00:16:32That's a clear message to his teammates.
00:16:35To his teammates, I think Liverpool are a very good team.
00:16:39I mean, they're going through a very difficult moment at the minute.
00:16:41And Van Dijk is the captain.
00:16:43He is the leader.
00:16:44And that is a strong message to his teammates.
00:16:46And maybe to the players who haven't been there, who wasn't there last year, who didn't win the Premier League, would have pulled out a message.
00:16:51The standards at Liverpool need to be higher than what they are at the minute.
00:16:55It's the basics.
00:16:56You give yourself the best chance possible and are looking at the individuals in there.
00:16:59Are you playing well?
00:17:00Are you individually playing well?
00:17:02Before you even start, is everyone at the top of their game?
00:17:04And there's not many out there in a red shirt today that turn around and say, yeah, I was.
00:17:08And that's really fundamental basic of football is, are you playing quite well right now?
00:17:13And they're not.
00:17:14You talk about the newer players.
00:17:16It's also some of the established players that look to be struggling at the moment.
00:17:19I mean, you highlighted the second goal.
00:17:22Salah, McAllister, it's the established players as well that look off it.
00:17:27Yeah, it is.
00:17:27And I think, you know, they've been going through a tough time for all season, really.
00:17:31Even at the beginning of the season, they won games, but they were struggling with performances.
00:17:35And I've said this, you know, throughout the season, it's them leaders in that session who have to pick the players up.
00:17:42Because if not, then, you know, we've seen it over the last few years with Manchester United and we've seen it last season with Tottenham.
00:17:48They can slip down the table.
00:17:50You don't panic just yet, do you?
00:17:52I go back three years.
00:17:53They actually had a worse start on Jurgen Klopp three years ago.
00:17:56They ended up finishing fifth.
00:17:58I know they weren't better than finishing fifth, but you don't panic yet.
00:18:01Well, they need to go back to basics.
00:18:02You look at what Sean Dyche was saying and you look at it and you say, look, the results haven't been good enough.
00:18:08Now, for the standards, the results weren't good enough for Nottingham Forest.
00:18:11They've gone back to basics and Nico Williams is there touching on it saying, we're doing the running, we're doing the hard yards.
00:18:16But Liverpool, it feels like, just have to go back to the basics and it's defending solidly as a group, defending as a unit.
00:18:23Individual responsibility isn't there right now.
00:18:26Is that the biggest problem to solve defensively?
00:18:28Yeah, I think the easiest thing to do when you're struggling is get back in a shape, get compact and Liverpool are very open at the minute and easy to play against.
00:18:39Right.
00:18:39Manchester City had the chance to move within a point of lead as Arsenal.
00:18:43They play Spurs on Sunday.
00:18:44Newcastle sat just two points above the bottom three.
00:18:47Stephen Wyeth was at St. James's Park.
00:18:4932 goals already for club and country this season inspires confidence of an Erling Haaland milestone today.
00:18:58However, only one of his quickfire 99 in the Premier League has come against Newcastle.
00:19:04The hosts make three changes.
00:19:05Tino Libramento and Lewis Hall return after injuries, replacing the absent Kieran Trippier and suspended Dan Byrne.
00:19:12Fabian Scherr comes in for Sven Bottmann.
00:19:15No need for Pep Guardiola to tinker in pursuit of a sixth league win in seven to intensify the pressure they're applying.
00:19:22Theirs is the same XI that started the statement victory over Liverpool.
00:19:30After the international break served up arguably the week of the season so far,
00:19:35this is a good chance for some drama in the Premier League and nearly immediately from the very start,
00:19:42Gianluigi Donnarumma forced into a mistake and so close to being punished.
00:19:47Harvey Barnes loitering with intent, but unable to get the better of the Manchester City goalkeeper
00:19:54who would have been culpable if he'd conceded.
00:19:58Home support encouraged by the opening exchanges.
00:20:01Now, though, a chance for City.
00:20:04Doku for Haaland, first opportunity.
00:20:09Uncharacteristically fluffed.
00:20:11This looked all set for a quintessential Haaland goal.
00:20:15Doku releasing him.
00:20:16Perhaps he looked up and was surprised to see Nick Pope had advanced as far as he had.
00:20:22An early flurry of activity at both ends of the field.
00:20:25It's been more considered since.
00:20:27Here's Murphy.
00:20:33Voltemada's there!
00:20:36It's a sensational save from Donnarumma.
00:20:39Looks certain to be a goal.
00:20:42Worked this really nicely, Newcastle.
00:20:45Got their pieces into position.
00:20:46Voltemada got between defenders.
00:20:49Donnarumma down really sharply.
00:20:51And then a big, strong hand was required as well.
00:20:54Here's Ruben Diaz.
00:20:58Doku.
00:21:00Foden.
00:21:01Good chance this.
00:21:04It looked like there might have been some heroic defending in there.
00:21:08It was Cher who reacted and it was Cher who was sliding in.
00:21:12And play is being delayed to assess whether or not Cher on Foden.
00:21:18And is a challenge worthy of a penalty.
00:21:22Checked and cleared.
00:21:24Now by VAR.
00:21:27Cher relieved.
00:21:28Foden mystified.
00:21:30Bernardo Silva.
00:21:41Gradually City squeeze forward.
00:21:43Now Doku looks to explode into life.
00:21:45Doku.
00:21:46Drove the shot goalwards and appealed for a penalty without much support from those around him.
00:21:52Going to get another chance now.
00:21:53Doku.
00:21:53Doku.
00:21:53Tiao across to deal with the danger on that occasion.
00:22:04Jeremy Doku was about the only player in blue who thought that there was a case for a penalty here.
00:22:10It did strike the arm of Nalek Tiao.
00:22:14But considering the proximity to his body it's been checked and cleared.
00:22:18It was inducted into Newcastle United's Hall of Fame this week.
00:22:24Eddie Howe.
00:22:25And we would dearly love to have a first ever Premier League win against Manchester City to that particular accolade.
00:22:34Vultimada.
00:22:36Oh that's brilliant from Brinigan Maresh.
00:22:38Murphy in towards Barnes.
00:22:39A glorious opportunity.
00:22:44Murphy across the face of goal.
00:22:47The job presented to Barnes looked straight forward.
00:22:50But instead he skewed it wide.
00:22:56Foden.
00:22:57Takes it on the turn and has options.
00:23:00Foden.
00:23:01For Cherky.
00:23:03For Foden.
00:23:06Everything but the finishing touch.
00:23:09Foden the creator of the opportunity and the one that should have taken it as well.
00:23:15But somehow was just ever so slightly off target.
00:23:19Further disbelief that this game remains goalless.
00:23:23Opportunities spurned at both ends of the field.
00:23:25Brinigan Maresh.
00:23:35Brinigan Maresh.
00:23:37Barnes.
00:23:38Brinigan Maresh.
00:23:40For Barnes.
00:23:43Newcastle in front.
00:23:45And they have cut through Manchester City.
00:23:48They're superbly.
00:23:51Jubilation around the majority of St James' Park.
00:23:54O'Reilly just played it straight back to Joel Inton.
00:24:00Brinigan Maresh took over.
00:24:01Swap passes with Barnes.
00:24:03And once the ball was back in front of Harvey Barnes.
00:24:07It was just the case of letting it roll into a position from which he could get away a first-time shot.
00:24:13And this time Donnarumma couldn't get there.
00:24:17Eddie Howe amongst those celebrating.
00:24:19Pep Guardiola's reaction has much perhaps to do with his defender's failure to deal with that as the chances that haven't been taken at the other end.
00:24:32There's Doku.
00:24:36It's only the closest to him.
00:24:42And it's Hoftiau for a corner kick.
00:24:44Chirky's corner.
00:24:56Voltemada's there.
00:24:59Doku recovers the ball in towards Haaland.
00:25:02Ray and Chirky fall as far as Ruben Diaz.
00:25:08The response from Manchester City instantaneous.
00:25:13An unlikely goal scorer for Manchester City.
00:25:16But a very welcome one.
00:25:18And it's squeezed helplessly through the legs of Fabian Scherr.
00:25:23Ruben Diaz has his first Premier League goal in very nearly four years since one here against Newcastle in December of 2021.
00:25:39Newcastle's turn to try and turn it back around again.
00:25:50Tomali with the Newcastle corner.
00:25:52And it's heading off the line.
00:25:54Donnarumma was beaten.
00:25:56Ball back into the penalty area.
00:25:58Barnes.
00:26:00Murphy.
00:26:02Really good cross.
00:26:05And eventually in.
00:26:08Incredible.
00:26:10It's Harvey Barnes once more.
00:26:13Sheer will to get the ball over the line.
00:26:17Newcastle United are back in front.
00:26:20After the long wait for a goal in this game.
00:26:23It has exploded into life.
00:26:26Voltemada's towering header.
00:26:29Brunicke Mares was in there.
00:26:31I think Manchester City think he might have been offside as he headed the ball against the crossbar.
00:26:36Or perhaps a suggestion that Voltemada was applying downward pressure on the player marking him.
00:26:43Barnes just did what was needed.
00:26:45Stayed alive.
00:26:47Stayed alert.
00:26:50Check complete.
00:26:51Goal stands.
00:26:52Newcastle do lead again.
00:26:55Just to dot the I's and cross the T's from Luigi.
00:26:58Donnarumma was cautioned in amongst City's protests about the goal.
00:27:03And Newcastle resign themselves to soaking up pressure.
00:27:09Savinho's cross beyond the reach of Pope.
00:27:14Corner kick.
00:27:23Cloden's corner.
00:27:25Tim helped Tom.
00:27:26Savinho!
00:27:29Snatched at it.
00:27:30Newcastle have done it for just the second time in two decades.
00:27:41They have beaten Manchester City in a Premier League game.
00:27:46Full-time at St James' Park.
00:27:47Newcastle United 2, Manchester City 1.
00:27:50We know how good they are and they proved today that they can be really dangerous and still very strong.
00:27:57So to beat them, I think, should give us the confidence that we need.
00:28:00And we need to try and use this result as a turning point in our season, both home and away, to get consistent results.
00:28:05I don't think Cal was the most popular man at half-time.
00:28:08But, you know, glad to make up for it in the second half with a couple of good goals.
00:28:12And it's probably the sort of fixture we need after a couple of bad results and a break in, obviously, the fixture list.
00:28:19So to get the result we did against a top, top team, it gives you even more confidence than a normal win.
00:28:26It shows that when we do play at our best and we're at our top level, we can compete with everyone.
00:28:30You and your team seem particularly frustrated by the second Newcastle goal.
00:28:34What did you feel in particular might have been wrong with that goal?
00:28:38It happened against Bournemouth's game.
00:28:40It happened today, again.
00:28:41So that's where it is.
00:28:42And after VAR decide what they decide in the decisions in the first half and the decisions in the second.
00:28:47So they know perfectly.
00:28:50Did Gianluigi feel he was impeded or was it somebody else?
00:28:53Otherwise, I will not complain.
00:28:56All right, well, we'll come on to some of those decisions in just a moment.
00:28:59But there's been lots of analysis on Manchester City in recent weeks about how they've created overloads through the middle.
00:29:04And that's how they've dominated games.
00:29:06So how did Newcastle counter that?
00:29:07Yeah, it was really interesting.
00:29:08And they were terrific today.
00:29:09They negated that.
00:29:11But with one of their strengths, which was the fullbacks and the wide men and how their mobility of Liv Memento and Hall from left back and right back allowed them to negate that.
00:29:21And you're looking, they look to press wide as well as high.
00:29:24And you're looking at the direction of the press.
00:29:26It's not just the first press, but you're looking at this ball here.
00:29:30Liv Memento, because he goes high on Doku, he's allowing that space in the knowledge to say, I can cover that.
00:29:38I can get there.
00:29:39I can be aggressive.
00:29:40Tiao was brave.
00:29:41He's up against Haaland one on one.
00:29:43And that allowed everybody to press and press wide, which was the key thing today, keeping the ball out of the centre of the pitch and keeping the ball away from Manchester City's men.
00:29:52Again, we're looking at Liv Memento allowing that space in there.
00:29:56And he's saying, OK, I can get there.
00:29:59I can cut that out.
00:30:00And from there, can we get our wide men to go and play?
00:30:04Murphy was terrific all afternoon, putting in a wonderful ball.
00:30:08Harvey Barnes touched on it himself.
00:30:09Should have had a hat-trick.
00:30:11And then we're looking on the other side and Barnes and Hall.
00:30:14Hall had the energy until he went off and they went to back five to solidify.
00:30:19He had the energy to get forward.
00:30:21And then you go out, you can recycle.
00:30:23Because you've got two men out wide, you've got the options to play and carry on.
00:30:28The overlap gives that bit of space.
00:30:30And it is a terrific save, a brilliant chance from Valdemar.
00:30:33And then you go again in the second half.
00:30:35The energy of Liv Memento.
00:30:37Get forward.
00:30:38Doesn't receive it.
00:30:39But it's a wonderful ball in and another brilliant opportunity.
00:30:43And to cap this all off, Barnes, who did get the couple of goals.
00:30:46He owes a big bit of gratitude to his teammate, his man outside with him.
00:30:50And just his run, just drags Nunes, creates that little bit of gap.
00:30:55And then the link-up play with Bruno Gemma Rice.
00:30:57He drives into that space.
00:30:59It's a wonderful little layoff for a brilliant finish.
00:31:02It was a brilliant afternoon for all four players of Newcastle.
00:31:05Which means it's tactically spot on.
00:31:07But also having what you would probably say their first-choice full-backs back.
00:31:10They're most mobile.
00:31:11In terms of both forwards and backwards, they could get up there.
00:31:15They could get in support.
00:31:16They can really be brave off the ball as well.
00:31:18Let's deal with the contentious decisions.
00:31:21Then could Phil Frayden have had a penalty?
00:31:23Is this a penalty in your view?
00:31:25I think it is, yeah.
00:31:26I think it's a good play for Manchester City.
00:31:28It's Oku getting in the pocket.
00:31:30Plays a lovely ball to Phil Frayden.
00:31:31And from there, you think he's maybe just snatched at it.
00:31:33But from this angle, you see he's stretching for the ball.
00:31:37The defender comes across, clearly doesn't take the ball and hits Phil Frayden on top of his foot.
00:31:41So I think that's a penalty.
00:31:42So the considerations that the ref have to take into account is as follows.
00:31:46Where there is contact following an attacker, either passing the ball or taking a shot at goal, where the contact is inevitable or a consequence of momentum, play should typically be allowed to continue.
00:31:58Where the contact is either reckless or serious foul play, then a penalty kick should be awarded.
00:32:05So you would say, Wayne, that that is more reckless than it is inevitable or a consequence of momentum.
00:32:11Yeah, it's reckless.
00:32:12If you look at the moment of impact, the defender's leg is straight and a stud.
00:32:17So it's a straight leg and a stud on Phil Frayden's foot.
00:32:19I think it's a clear penalty.
00:32:20The handball?
00:32:22Not for me.
00:32:22I think it's very close to him.
00:32:27And his arm isn't out.
00:32:29His arm is still in by his body.
00:32:30And yet he's got his hand facing up.
00:32:33But it's very close to his body.
00:32:34So I think it would be very harsh to give a penalty for that.
00:32:37OK.
00:32:37You can see it on this angle as well.
00:32:39The closeness of Chiao to that shot from Doku.
00:32:43And the one that they were probably aggrieved about most, but Pep Guardiola didn't want to say they were aggrieved about most,
00:32:49was whether this is a foul on Donnarumma.
00:32:51And you would say?
00:32:53It's a goal.
00:32:53And you're looking, Donnarumma.
00:32:55And this is happening time and time again with goalkeepers now.
00:32:57They're getting drawn in with all the players at the near post.
00:33:00They rush across.
00:33:01And you're desperately keen to get involved.
00:33:04And it is so hard psychologically not to do that.
00:33:07And Donnarumma falls for it because he goes before Barnes makes contact with him.
00:33:11The offsides aren't offsides.
00:33:13They're factual.
00:33:14It's all fine.
00:33:15But if you watch Donnarumma, he starts to go before Barnes even gets involved with him.
00:33:18If he stands still, where Vardyol heads the ball, he would have caught it above his head.
00:33:23Just stand still.
00:33:24It's so hard as a keeper to be brave and not get dragged into it.
00:33:28He got dragged into it.
00:33:29Yeah, there's a nudge.
00:33:30That's twice now.
00:33:31You've got to think, well, actually, we've got to change.
00:33:34Donnarumma's got to change because that's the Premier League.
00:33:37All right.
00:33:38West Ham had won their last two matches.
00:33:40Bournemouth had lost both of theirs.
00:33:41Mark Scott was at the Vitality Stadium.
00:33:43Bournemouth are hoping for more home comforts after those back-to-back defeats.
00:33:50With the Cherries, four wins and a draw here in the league this season, only bettered by Manchester City.
00:33:57They'll have to cope without Clivert and Semenho today, though, due to injury.
00:34:02Brooks and Kruppi come into the attack, while Diakite and Cook are preferred to Mila Savlevic and Smith at the back.
00:34:09If West Ham are winners again, it'll be the first time in almost two years that they've managed three in a row in the league.
00:34:17They're also without some regular starters in Paquetá and Somerville, who were replaced by Igor Julio and Luis Guilherme.
00:34:25With this, only the 19-year-old's second Premier League start and his first since April, as Nuno switches to a back three.
00:34:33Kruppi.
00:34:36Hammered forwards by Seneci.
00:34:40Kruppi.
00:34:43Brooks.
00:34:44Evan Nilsson was waiting.
00:34:47He's nearly made something of it.
00:34:48Picked up by Alex Scott.
00:34:50Promising!
00:34:51And Areola had to get in the way of that.
00:34:54It's a bit sloppy, this, from the Hammers.
00:34:56Allowing Evan Nilsson to eventually get there after Tadibo won the initial ball.
00:35:03Antonio Iriolo says he's not worried by recent reports claiming Antoine Semenyo's got a £65m release clause
00:35:10that can be triggered in the first few weeks of the January window,
00:35:14as he doesn't think the Cherries are expecting to lose him.
00:35:19Wilson took that nicely.
00:35:21Hit it well!
00:35:22And it's in!
00:35:23A cracking goal from Callum Wilson!
00:35:26The former Bournemouth man gives the Hammers the early lead with a superbly taken strike.
00:35:37He's spoken this week about having the target of making England's World Cup squad next summer.
00:35:44This kind of goal might make Thomas Tuchel sit up and take notice.
00:35:48And is West Ham's renaissance set to continue?
00:35:52Bournemouth 0.
00:35:53West Ham United 1.
00:35:57Quite a turnaround that Nuno looks like he's engineering with the Hammers.
00:36:04Here's Truffair.
00:36:08Truffair caught off the ball, but advantage played.
00:36:11Here's Tavernier.
00:36:12And it might be an advantage!
00:36:15Brooks should have made it one each.
00:36:20Kruppi's attempt to control it actually set up Brooks nicely.
00:36:24And he drags it wide.
00:36:32Callum Wilson now upended, so it's a West Ham free kick.
00:36:36Trilled across towards Jarrod Bowen.
00:36:47And it will reach him.
00:36:49Tadibo's in there.
00:36:50Wilson 2.
00:36:51Dangerous and in!
00:36:52Callum Wilson again!
00:36:56Two terrifically taken goals from Callum Wilson.
00:37:00And Nuno's all smiles with West Ham 2 up.
00:37:04Bowen kept it alive.
00:37:07Tadibo popped it further towards goal.
00:37:09And then Callum Wilson hooked it into the goal.
00:37:13A couple of expert finishes from the X-Cherry
00:37:18has put West Ham well on course for a third straight win.
00:37:25Jimenez.
00:37:28Adams.
00:37:29Christy's hit on target, but too close to the West Ham keeper, who made sure that he got enough in the way.
00:37:43Jimenez.
00:37:45Way by Fernandez, back in from Adams.
00:37:51Christy's hit on target, but too close to the West Ham keeper, who made sure that he got enough in the way.
00:37:58Jimenez.
00:37:59Galloping forwards.
00:38:03Evan Nielsen!
00:38:06Is it a handball?
00:38:08It is!
00:38:09Bournemouth penalty.
00:38:11And a potential way back into the game.
00:38:14All came about after a really positive run from Jimenez.
00:38:18Evan Nielsen's definitely onside.
00:38:20Looked like the chance had gone after his touch wasn't the best.
00:38:23But Kilman then, sliding in, saw his arm brush the ball, and Bournemouth have a penalty.
00:38:32Thomas Bramall only gave the spot kick.
00:38:35Michael Oliver is now double-checking, and he says a penalty will suffice.
00:38:43Marcus Tavernier against Alphonse Sarriola.
00:38:46Scores!
00:38:47The right way to take it in these conditions.
00:38:53Absolutely leathered down the middle by Marcus Tavernier.
00:38:58And Bournemouth are back in business.
00:39:00Not much thought about this from Tavernier.
00:39:03Wallop.
00:39:04And it's Bournemouth 1.
00:39:06West Ham 2.
00:39:11Christy.
00:39:12Handy pass for Tavernier.
00:39:14Oh, and surely!
00:39:15What a save from Arreola to keep out Kruppi.
00:39:20That is astonishing from Alphonse Sarriola.
00:39:25Look for all the world.
00:39:27As though Eli Kruppi was going to make it to each.
00:39:31But Alphonse Sarriola got the vital touch to keep it out.
00:39:36Lewis Cook.
00:39:40Sinesi.
00:39:41Lovely pass.
00:39:43Unel!
00:39:442-2!
00:39:47Immediate impact from Enes Unel!
00:39:51And Bournemouth are back on terms.
00:39:56On for little more than a minute.
00:39:59Enes Unel has made it to each.
00:40:02Credit to Sinesi for the pass.
00:40:04That was a beauty.
00:40:06And it's a very composed finish from the substitute as well.
00:40:11Bournemouth 2.
00:40:12West Ham 2.
00:40:13And what a climax we could have now.
00:40:18Truefair.
00:40:18Oh, brilliant from Truefair and not so good from Wan-Bissaka.
00:40:23Free kick and the yellow card for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
00:40:32Cook to take.
00:40:33Christie.
00:40:34Training grand routine doesn't come off.
00:40:36But Sinesi has got it.
00:40:37And got it in!
00:40:38Great save, Arreola!
00:40:40And the rebound from Tavernier.
00:40:42Clears the crossbar.
00:40:44Was that the chance for Bournemouth to win it from two down?
00:40:48Well, that didn't quite come off the way they planned, but Sinesi kept it moving.
00:40:52And Tavernier should be finding the net from there.
00:40:56Well, from two down, his side have roared back into it.
00:40:59And they'll actually feel disappointed not to win the game.
00:41:02One.
00:41:05Wan-Bissaka a little bit hesitant!
00:41:08Arreola to the rescue for West Ham again.
00:41:12Smith.
00:41:15Gusty conditions and his side whipping up a storm later on.
00:41:25It's Christie.
00:41:27It's deflected.
00:41:28And it's Unal again!
00:41:30And it's Arreola again.
00:41:32It's a one-man wall that's stopping Bournemouth, taking all three points.
00:41:36How many times has Alphonse Areola pulled off an important save?
00:41:41And normally with his legs as well.
00:41:44We should have won. Also, I have to complain about the penalty.
00:41:47It's a clear red card. I don't understand why it's not a red card.
00:41:50Because they say he scoops the ball with the hand and it cannot be a clear chance to score.
00:41:55Evan Nilsson in the six-yard box against the keeper, you know,
00:41:57I don't understand the decision not to send Kilman out.
00:42:01Tough game. A tough game for both teams.
00:42:03I think in the first half we punished Bournemouth's mistakes.
00:42:07And in the second half they punished our mistakes.
00:42:09But it was a good fight, a good game.
00:42:12We got the lead, slipped away from our hands.
00:42:14But look, you knew that it was tough to come here at Bournemouth.
00:42:19They are a fantastic team. They put you against the ropes.
00:42:22So, positive. We keep building.
00:42:24And obviously for Enesu now, after what he's been through, what a great story.
00:42:28Yes, very happy for Enes. Very long injury, second time ACL in the same knee.
00:42:34If we put him close to the opposition box, normally he's a really good finisher.
00:42:38And today even he had another chance almost to score the third one.
00:42:42But good news and I'm happy for him, yes.
00:42:45It was a really entertaining game.
00:42:48And there was such a contrast between the first half and the second half.
00:42:53The stats are startling from Bournemouth's point of view.
00:42:56Do you know what they did in the first and the second half?
00:42:59So what changed, Rob?
00:43:00Well, there's a tale of two subs for West Ham and one for Bournemouth.
00:43:04And you're looking at a tale of emphasis, changing emphasis for West Ham.
00:43:08And we're looking at them in the first half.
00:43:10They went to a back three this week.
00:43:12And you're looking at the three centre-backs in Killman, Igor Julio and Tadibo.
00:43:17Killman was kind of on a one-to-one situation with Kruppi.
00:43:20And the other two dealt with Evan Nielsen really, really well in the first half.
00:43:24Allowed them to be aggressive.
00:43:25Allowed them to be on the front foot.
00:43:26And from there, West Ham could be quite offensive and direct in their counter-attacking play.
00:43:32And again, we're looking.
00:43:33They're allowed to be aggressive on the front foot and really take control of the situation,
00:43:38take control of the game.
00:43:40And then from early in the second half, this is only five, six minutes into the second half,
00:43:45Sochek goes up front.
00:43:46And it was a change of emphasis of just to sit in and see the game out.
00:43:49And the workload became greater and greater for the back three.
00:43:53Mistakes started to happen.
00:43:54And you're seeing both of them deciding to go to Evan Nielsen.
00:43:58Killman coming round and giving away the penalty.
00:44:00And from there, you're looking at Unel coming on.
00:44:03Another centre-forward coming up, making a difference.
00:44:06The two centre-halves are doing the same job here against Evan Nielsen.
00:44:10This is less than 60 seconds after Unel's come on.
00:44:14We can see Killman pointing out.
00:44:16He's still got Kruppi.
00:44:17He's saying there's an extra man here.
00:44:19Get across and mark him.
00:44:20The realisation isn't there.
00:44:22It's a fantastic ball in.
00:44:24A wonderful touch and finish.
00:44:26And it really was a tale of two halves.
00:44:28West Ham dangerous in the first half.
00:44:31One shot in the second half.
00:44:32And then an absolute barrage from Bournemouth.
00:44:35I mean, I don't know if we're being generous,
00:44:37including the one that nearly hit the corner flag as a shot.
00:44:40But I've got a point to just give you another decision to look at,
00:44:44whether Max Killman is lucky not to get a red here.
00:44:47I don't think he was even booked for this.
00:44:49Yeah, he's very lucky.
00:44:50I think it's, you know, he gets himself in a position
00:44:53where he's trying to cover and he slides past the player.
00:44:56And you see, as we see on this angle here,
00:44:58you see a movement with his right hand towards the ball.
00:45:01And it's a penalty and it has to be a red card.
00:45:03He's six yards out.
00:45:05It's a clear goal to get an opportunity.
00:45:07So it baffles me that that's not a red card.
00:45:11OK.
00:45:12Now, Burnley hadn't beaten Chelsea at Turf Moor since 1983.
00:45:16So that was in the old second division.
00:45:18Billy Hamilton scored twice in a 3-0 win.
00:45:21You see, there was football before the Premier League.
00:45:23Guy Mowbray, watch this one.
00:45:27It's not always been a comfortable place for visiting teams.
00:45:31Indeed, Burnley were unbeaten at home
00:45:32all last season in the Championship.
00:45:35But Chelsea, well, they do enjoy a trip to Turf Moor.
00:45:38They've won their last six here,
00:45:40scoring 19 goals in the last five.
00:45:43The Burnley side is the same one
00:45:45that started at West Ham two weeks ago
00:45:47as manager Scott Parker again comes up against a former club.
00:45:51The same is true for midfielder Leslie Ugachukwu
00:45:53who joined the Clarets in the summer
00:45:55having only played 15 first-team games for Chelsea.
00:45:59As he left Stamford Bridge, Liam de Lappe arrived.
00:46:02He scored a dozen Premier League goals for Ipswich last season
00:46:05but his only Chelsea goal so far came at the Club World Cup.
00:46:09Perhaps today's the day.
00:46:10An early start, something that Chelsea very much enjoyed
00:46:19and have won all of their last seven Saturday 12.30 kick-offs.
00:46:24That's not a bad ball at all and it's kept alive
00:46:31but Rhys James was on hand standing in front of Zian Fleming.
00:46:35Oh, what's Sanchez done here?
00:46:36The referee didn't see anything wrong.
00:46:41Play goes on with Ugachukwu.
00:46:45Walker.
00:46:46Well, the boos are Burnley boos
00:46:53because Peter Banks has seen fit to stop the play.
00:46:57Scott Parker's livid about that.
00:46:59It was all down to Sanchez
00:47:01rather rushed attempt to get the ball downfield.
00:47:04That's why he's hurt
00:47:05and that's why Burnley feel slightly aggrieved.
00:47:08It's nothing to do with them.
00:47:10Well, there's never a weekend goes by
00:47:11without a curiosity you've never seen before.
00:47:17Burnley
00:47:17arguing there that
00:47:20it was played by
00:47:22Robert Sanchez
00:47:23and it was in play when
00:47:25Chaneva put his hand on it.
00:47:28This was a curious one.
00:47:32I think the Reds used common sense.
00:47:34No, they weren't restarting.
00:47:36They were just putting the ball back to the place
00:47:37where it would be restarted from.
00:47:39Kukureya
00:47:42still going
00:47:45courtesy of a fortunate ricochet or two.
00:47:48Gittens
00:47:48that's a lovely lift in
00:47:49and Chelsea are in front
00:47:51headed in front by Pedro Neto.
00:47:56Not a lot Dubravka could do about that.
00:47:59Burnley are hoping that
00:48:00there may have been a hint of handball in the buildup.
00:48:03That's the basis of the discussion between
00:48:06Josh Cullen and referee Peter Banks.
00:48:09Was that where there may have been handball?
00:48:12There's certainly a bit of an ask about it from Uga Chukwu.
00:48:15For the rest of the move it was
00:48:17well, simply super from Chelsea.
00:48:21I didn't see a handball in there.
00:48:25Cracking ball across from Gittens.
00:48:28Enzo Fernandes then.
00:48:30Or was it by accident or by design that he left it?
00:48:32Never mind, Pedro Neto profited.
00:48:39Scott Parker will still believe that his team
00:48:41are in with a chance of getting something today.
00:48:48Uga Chukwu was waiting for it.
00:48:49Andrei Santos simply stepped in front of him.
00:48:52Fernandes on to Pedro Neto.
00:48:54Neto!
00:48:55Dubravka was beaten and Colin has to put it behind for a corner.
00:49:00Only a matter of an inch or two away from doubling up for the day.
00:49:05Just getting the feeling that this has all been a little too comfortable for Chelsea.
00:49:08Certainly in this second half
00:49:10needs something to
00:49:11just get them revved up a little bit more.
00:49:16I don't think Zerbe will sort that out
00:49:17or should have done
00:49:18and has done in a roundabout way.
00:49:20Uga Chukwu
00:49:21being held on to.
00:49:23It's got to be a free kick.
00:49:26And it will be a yellow card as well.
00:49:30Clear foul by João Pedro
00:49:32to prevent a promising
00:49:34or potentially promising Burnley attack.
00:49:38There's Hartman
00:49:43and there's Fleming.
00:49:45He's got in here.
00:49:47He's had to wait an eternity for that chance today.
00:49:52This is the Premier League
00:49:54and when you get that chance
00:49:55you've got to take it.
00:49:59This is Brun Larsson.
00:50:02Foster.
00:50:04Hartman.
00:50:05Andrei Santos with the block.
00:50:07Burnley have a corner.
00:50:08Burnley have belief again.
00:50:15And it's going to be delayed.
00:50:19Nadia Shield was involved.
00:50:20He had hold of Esteve.
00:50:22I'm sure they'll do it again.
00:50:27I'm sure they'll do it again.
00:50:33Brun Larsson.
00:50:34Well, this time he does kick it
00:50:35but the whistle's gone once more.
00:50:37And the referee's patience has run out.
00:50:39Same players.
00:50:41Badia Shield.
00:50:42Yellow card.
00:50:43How about a step?
00:50:44No, just Badia Shield.
00:50:46And that's why.
00:50:48VAR are getting involved now
00:50:50having a look to see if there's anything in there
00:50:51that constitutes a penalty.
00:50:54There isn't.
00:50:55There isn't.
00:51:00Here's Hannibal.
00:51:02Nobody there.
00:51:04Easy for Melo Gusto and Sanchez.
00:51:06Well, should have been easy.
00:51:07And here's Pedro Neto.
00:51:14Neto finds Guillaume.
00:51:18Guillaume is taking on Twanzebi
00:51:20and beating him
00:51:20and pulling it back
00:51:22for Fernandes
00:51:23to seal the win for Chelsea.
00:51:25into the Chelsea fans to celebrate.
00:51:37There will have been
00:51:38quite a few lingering feelings of anxiety
00:51:42that they hadn't got the points won yet.
00:51:44They have now.
00:51:47Pedro Neto finding Marc Guillaume.
00:51:49Guillaume did brilliantly
00:51:50strength and determination
00:51:52to hold off Twanzebi.
00:51:55Enzo Fernandes' fifth goal of the season.
00:51:58Chelsea's second goal of the afternoon.
00:52:01And it's Burnley-Nil-Chelsea-2.
00:52:04I think we need this kind of win
00:52:05after the international break,
00:52:0812 o'clock in the morning,
00:52:09you know, Burnley away.
00:52:11This type of pitch, small pitch,
00:52:13you know, it's complicated.
00:52:14So, very happy with the result
00:52:17and with the performance.
00:52:19It seemed quite a hard game to get going in.
00:52:21Is that due to the international break
00:52:23and plenty of players being away all over the world?
00:52:26Yeah, I think it's definitely a factor.
00:52:28Everyone comes from different places in the world
00:52:29and if they come back and play at 12.30
00:52:31on Saturday is not easy.
00:52:33And the first goal seemed to make all the difference
00:52:35to the pattern of the game.
00:52:36You played a key part in this.
00:52:38Tell us about your cross that led to it.
00:52:39I looked up and I'd seen Enzo and Pedro
00:52:42at the back post.
00:52:43I thought either of them are going to try
00:52:44and attack the ball.
00:52:45So, Pedro got in.
00:52:47Overall, from where we were last week to today,
00:52:49I'm immensely pleased with that.
00:52:51We're with the performance.
00:52:52I say that lightly.
00:52:53We've not won the game.
00:52:54So, of course, I'm disappointed.
00:52:56But I see things in us where we learnt from last week.
00:52:59We've improved, definitely.
00:53:01We need to now maintain that.
00:53:02That's the main message.
00:53:03We have to maintain that performance
00:53:05and hopefully we can do that.
00:53:07Talk Burnley in just a moment.
00:53:10But how Chelsea build up from the back
00:53:12is crucial to how they play.
00:53:14And Tosin was so influential for them.
00:53:17Yeah, he's a chosen one
00:53:18since a long-term injury absentee
00:53:21of Levi Colwell.
00:53:23And we're looking at him to say,
00:53:24well, who's going to progress it?
00:53:26How are you going to progress it?
00:53:27He was afforded time on the ball by Burnley today.
00:53:31Burnley didn't really want to commit.
00:53:32They just wanted to cut off lines.
00:53:34You see the front three really are cutting off the line.
00:53:36So, where's the space?
00:53:37Where's the options?
00:53:39Liam Dillap comes in short
00:53:40and the ball for Neto's on.
00:53:43And we've seen Tosin afforded that time and space
00:53:46and to say, where are you going to go?
00:53:48What are the passes?
00:53:49What are your options?
00:53:50Highlighting this one again,
00:53:52Burnley just looking at cutting off the options to him.
00:53:55They know he's going to be the man on the ball.
00:53:57He's the spare man.
00:53:59This time it was Dillap.
00:54:00He didn't have a great afternoon.
00:54:01He's caught offside for this one.
00:54:03Nothing particularly worked
00:54:05as he was up against the centre-halves.
00:54:07Cucurea made the difference for him.
00:54:09He roamed.
00:54:11We've seen the lines being cut off.
00:54:13Cucurea was in midfield.
00:54:15He was going up front.
00:54:16This time, not up against one of the centre-halves.
00:54:19Found the space.
00:54:20Found that little bit of time for an option.
00:54:23Gittins, with a wonderful bit of quality,
00:54:25that made the difference within the game.
00:54:28He dictated the play today.
00:54:29Scott Parker, not too disappointed with the performance.
00:54:34He's talked about how important their spirit and togetherness is going to be this season.
00:54:38The underlying numbers would suggest plenty of areas of concern, though.
00:54:44Would you be worried?
00:54:45Yeah, I think I would be worried.
00:54:48I know they're on 11 points,
00:54:51so they've done okay from that point of view.
00:54:53But when you look at the data and the stats and the numbers,
00:54:57which has all gone against them,
00:54:58then I think if I was a Burnley fan, I'd be a bit content.
00:55:00Okay.
00:55:01Two games in Sunday's match of the day.
00:55:04We'll be across all the action from midday.
00:55:31You can listen to that on BBC Sounds as well.
00:55:33Champions League returns midweek.
00:55:34All the goals are on the BBC Sport website from 10.
00:55:37BBC One at 10.40.
00:55:39And Bakaya Saka is this week's football indie.
00:55:41Follows us tonight, or you can watch on the iPlayer.
00:55:45As you can if you missed the start of the show,
00:55:47it's available now on iPlayer,
00:55:48along with highlights of every game.
00:55:51Now, Rob Edwards took charge of Wolves for the first time,
00:55:53with them bottom and eight points from safety.
00:55:56Crystal Palace, their opponents,
00:55:57and Vicky Sparks was at Molineux.
00:55:59This job has always been the aim.
00:56:05This is the dream.
00:56:07So says Rob Edwards,
00:56:09who enjoyed the best days of his playing career here,
00:56:12and now returns for his fourth spell
00:56:14to take the manager's job on a permanent basis for the first time.
00:56:18He makes four changes from the defeat at Chelsea,
00:56:21including a start for Tolu Arakadare,
00:56:24alongside Jürgen Strun-Larsen up top.
00:56:26Palace, who've won just once in their last five Premier League games.
00:56:30Welcome back.
00:56:30Captain Mark Gay from injury.
00:56:32Jeremy Pino also starts as Cambo and Lerma drop out.
00:56:36And the flag stays down.
00:56:50And Mateta misses.
00:56:54That is very unlike Jean-Philippe Mateta.
00:56:57And you would have banked on him,
00:57:01rolling that into the bottom corner.
00:57:07Water.
00:57:09Now starting to tick Crystal Palace.
00:57:12And that layoff from Pino just ahead of Mateta.
00:57:15He will keep it alive.
00:57:16Munoz queuing up.
00:57:19And beaten away by Johnston.
00:57:23Cambo with the effort.
00:57:25And Johnston with the smart stop against his former club.
00:57:32Andre forwards.
00:57:35Over the head of Arakadare.
00:57:36Strun-Larsen goes down.
00:57:39Pre-kick, says referee Anthony Taylor.
00:57:44But he does catch Strun-Larsen.
00:57:46And he's already on the yellow card.
00:57:49He may well be making that point with Edwards.
00:57:54Well, Gomez to take it.
00:57:56Unorthodox.
00:57:57And what a miss from Krejci.
00:58:03Dean Henderson did the job in his own fashion.
00:58:07And Krejci scoops it over.
00:58:13Here's Walton.
00:58:17Pino.
00:58:19Teta's on the move.
00:58:20It's behind him.
00:58:21And Metpaisar.
00:58:26Another chance.
00:58:27Goes begging for Crystal Palace.
00:58:30And Zotti just doing enough to put off his Mila.
00:58:33So.
00:58:33Kamada's flick on.
00:58:38And Ketia.
00:58:39Ketia.
00:58:39And out of it.
00:58:40Filled by Arakadare.
00:58:41Straight to Mongehi.
00:58:43And now Pino.
00:58:44And now Pino.
00:58:44That's a lovely back heel.
00:58:46And Ketia can't quite force his way through.
00:58:49Will win the corner.
00:58:50Or Sotti Gomez.
00:58:51And his delivery is short to Pino.
00:59:04Warton in space.
00:59:05And space.
00:59:06Ricochet.
00:59:07Munoz with the opener for Crystal Palace.
00:59:11And Wolves are behind at Molyneux.
00:59:18And he's asking for a reaction.
00:59:21Nicely worked by Crystal Palace.
00:59:27Warton with the effort.
00:59:28Is there a suspicion of offside there?
00:59:31Well if there was.
00:59:32It might have been against Gai.
00:59:33Who I don't think got involved.
00:59:34What a finish for Munoz.
00:59:39Super reactions.
00:59:42No wonder he congratulates Jeremy Pino for his role in that.
00:59:47Warton.
00:59:50Here's Pino.
00:59:54Mitchell.
00:59:56Feet away by Andre.
00:59:58And Joel Gomez.
01:00:00Wang.
01:00:02Warton.
01:00:03Pino.
01:00:03Oh he deserves that.
01:00:07What a peach of a goal.
01:00:10From Jeremy Pino.
01:00:12He has shone for Crystal Palace this afternoon.
01:00:17And caps that performance.
01:00:20With something very special indeed.
01:00:23His first Premier League goal.
01:00:27What a stunner.
01:00:30And in a flash.
01:00:31Crystal Palace lead by two goals to nil.
01:00:36Almost took himself out in the celebration there.
01:00:39Oliver Glasner.
01:00:40Same old story for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
01:00:45A familiar feeling at Molyneux.
01:00:50How on earth do they get out of this?
01:00:53Andrei.
01:00:53Andrei.
01:00:53Andrei.
01:01:00Wolves.
01:01:01Give themselves a bit of hope.
01:01:04It's Molyneux.
01:01:05It's a great delivery.
01:01:07And Arias.
01:01:08Has made a real mess of it.
01:01:10Oh he couldn't have asked for a better chance.
01:01:15It was on a plate.
01:01:27Here's Mitchell.
01:01:27Deveni.
01:01:33Pushed off it by Totti.
01:01:34Oh and then Molyneux down.
01:01:37Right on the edge of the penalty area.
01:01:40Oh that is very close indeed.
01:01:47So penalty area.
01:01:49We do have Molyneux and Deveni.
01:01:51In the edge of the box.
01:01:53Deveni now making his way into the area.
01:01:57There they go.
01:01:57Instead for Eddie and Ketia.
01:01:58Oh that was close.
01:02:05Almost.
01:02:06Vitalis is third.
01:02:08It was a tight game.
01:02:09And we expected it.
01:02:10They are very highly motivated.
01:02:12Wolves team.
01:02:14And then it was.
01:02:14It looked like okay.
01:02:16Who takes one of the few chances.
01:02:18And credit to my assistants.
01:02:21For the adjustment in the set place.
01:02:23Because they played a completely different set up.
01:02:25Again we didn't know.
01:02:26Because it's a new manager.
01:02:27We arrived in the first half.
01:02:28We struggled in our set place.
01:02:30We hit plenty.
01:02:31But yeah.
01:02:32Clean sheet.
01:02:33Three points here at Wolves.
01:02:34So always good to start with a win.
01:02:36It's never going to be a quick fix.
01:02:38Obviously we're disappointed with the result today.
01:02:41But we've got to try and build on the things.
01:02:42There were some glimpses there.
01:02:44We created some big chances.
01:02:46There was moments there.
01:02:47You look at the actual stats.
01:02:49There's not much in it.
01:02:52It's probably why they are where they are.
01:02:54And why we are where we are.
01:02:55Right now at the moment.
01:02:56And that's what we've got to try and reverse.
01:02:58Well Oliver Glasner praised their set of pieces.
01:03:01But Jeremy Pino made them tick.
01:03:02Didn't he?
01:03:04Yeah he did.
01:03:05And there's a lot of pressure on him.
01:03:06Coming into this Palace team.
01:03:07Obviously he's come in as a replacement for Eze.
01:03:10Obviously he went to Arsenal.
01:03:11But I think he started the season really well.
01:03:14For Crystal Palace.
01:03:15And we see today the positions he was picking up.
01:03:18And he's always in the middle of players.
01:03:21He's never easy to mark for the defenders.
01:03:24And here he's got the intelligence to play the first time pass around the corner for Mateta.
01:03:28Who should go through and go and score.
01:03:31And again here I really like this.
01:03:33His little movement to make the run in behind.
01:03:35Keeping the Wolves defenders on their toes.
01:03:37And again he's really unlucky to not put Mateta in on goal again.
01:03:42Looking in behind again.
01:03:43Takes the ball down.
01:03:47A good cut back.
01:03:48Another day to get a goal.
01:03:51And then here showing us bits of flares.
01:03:53Back heel which I'm sure the Crystal Palace fans would like to see.
01:03:56Especially when they're winning.
01:03:59But then here again always in space.
01:04:02No Wolves player within 10 yards of him.
01:04:05He takes a lovely touch and a fantastic finish.
01:04:08It's how he finds that space that impresses you.
01:04:10Yeah he is and sometimes it's by standing still as well.
01:04:13Which is very difficult to do.
01:04:15It's hard to find that space with a lot of bodies around there.
01:04:18But if we look here at the stats from Eze to Pino.
01:04:23Pino's goals and assists are a little bit down to Eze.
01:04:26But everything else is touches in the opponent's box.
01:04:29His passes played into the box is all well up there.
01:04:32So I think he's got a bright future.
01:04:34No team has survived with two points from 12 games in the Premier League.
01:04:39Can Wolves?
01:04:40Nope.
01:04:41I think it's...
01:04:42I thought you were ending it there.
01:04:44Right, go on.
01:04:45I think the only interesting thing for me really was the conversation between Rob Edwards and the owners.
01:04:50To say, right, what's the plan?
01:04:53Are we planning for this season?
01:04:54Are we planning for next season in the Championship?
01:04:56I don't see any other outcome.
01:04:58Okay.
01:04:59It doesn't get much more mid-table than 11th versus 12th.
01:05:03Jonathan Pearce was at the Amex for Brighton-Brentford.
01:05:05Fabian Hertzler becomes the youngest manager to reach 50 games in the Premier League.
01:05:12Knowing a win will propel his side from mid-table to the European challenging positions.
01:05:17But he watches from the stands serving a touchline suspension.
01:05:20Having named an unchanged side in the league for the first time in their pre-international break,
01:05:240-0 at Palace, he makes one change, enforced.
01:05:27Olivier Boscaglia makes his league debut, having signed in the summer.
01:05:31Lewis Dunk is only fit enough for the bench because of a slight injury problem.
01:05:35They're looking for a 10th unbeaten league home match on the bounce.
01:05:39Brentford, also strong at home, have lost four of their opening five away this season.
01:05:42They also make one change from their pre-break win over Newcastle, with Ayer returning for Hickey.
01:05:48They're winless here in four Premier League visits.
01:05:56Switched by Gomez.
01:05:57Well, that's a lovely pass.
01:05:59Mintec.
01:06:00Twisting, turning.
01:06:02Oh, he's gone again.
01:06:04He's gone again.
01:06:05Was that a mistake?
01:06:05Weeper drives it.
01:06:07Well, they got a shot out of it, and it was well parried by Keller.
01:06:09That's a neat back heel.
01:06:16And Keller had to save.
01:06:19Tough place to come, this now.
01:06:22Right, with low of Stoney, three of their last 24 home league games.
01:06:26And the Arsenal, Villa and Liverpool have a better record in that time.
01:06:29But here come Brentford into the penalty.
01:06:30Oh, that's risky.
01:06:31That's a penalty.
01:06:32That's a penalty all day long.
01:06:34Well, Leva stretching in to try and catch Wattara, but not in that way.
01:06:42On a wet, slithery surface.
01:06:44If you're going to go to ground like that, you have to be perfect with your timing.
01:06:49And he was far from that.
01:06:51Penalty to Brentford.
01:06:52And for Thiago, three penalties this season.
01:06:59Wrong footed the keeper.
01:07:01Brighton nil, Brentford one.
01:07:02Ever so slightly against the run of play.
01:07:05But they look such a mature Premier League team these days.
01:07:07And he cannot stop scoring.
01:07:09Ten goals this season in all.
01:07:14Nine in the Premier League.
01:07:15Only Erling Haaland has more.
01:07:21Two changes for Brighton at half-time.
01:07:25He knows his team has to do a lot better in this second half.
01:07:30Ruta's pass drop short.
01:07:32It came off Coyote.
01:07:34The Kuiper.
01:07:35Ruta back to him.
01:07:36There's a good ball in.
01:07:39There's a chance.
01:07:40Weefa.
01:07:41Have they overpassed again?
01:07:42Welbeck.
01:07:42There was the chance to level.
01:07:44And it was a big chance.
01:07:47He's been in such good form for them.
01:07:50And from there really has to hit the target.
01:07:53That should have been 1-1.
01:07:58And there's not a good ball from him at this stage of the game.
01:08:00Van Hecker.
01:08:02Chipped by Thiago.
01:08:06Rukic is taken quickly.
01:08:08Here's Kadiyoglu.
01:08:09The Kuiper on the outside.
01:08:12Look at Brentford's defence.
01:08:14Already set.
01:08:15Very quick to set.
01:08:16Really impressive.
01:08:19Mince.
01:08:20Foraging.
01:08:21Took a good save to stop him.
01:08:22That's Brighton's best moment of the game.
01:08:25And he wants a clean sheet to celebrate his birthday tomorrow.
01:08:28There's Kadeen Kelleher.
01:08:29Acrobatic goalkeeping.
01:08:36Seven months since they last lost a game here in the league.
01:08:41Here's Mincey.
01:08:42Perhaps warming to the task now.
01:08:44Better ball in for Welbeck.
01:08:451-1.
01:08:47Oh, that's a pitch of a goal.
01:08:49Well, he's gradually grown into the game.
01:08:53Mincey has taken him a long, long time to deliver a killer ball.
01:08:57But, goodness me, that was a killer ball.
01:09:00And it's a fine finish as well.
01:09:02Look at this for a cross.
01:09:04Went inside Ayer.
01:09:05Beautifully bent right onto the foot of Welbeck.
01:09:08But that's some finish.
01:09:10Perfect, perfect cross.
01:09:12And an astute finish.
01:09:14For his seventh in eight games.
01:09:19Henderson.
01:09:19And a forward-looking ball up to Shada.
01:09:24Sort of playing 4-4-2 now.
01:09:26Brentford at times.
01:09:28Out by Ayari.
01:09:35Hinshawood.
01:09:37Now, the referee's allowing this to go on.
01:09:39Although the official on the near side flag for offside,
01:09:43the referee looked at it, nearly put his whistle to his lips.
01:09:46Here's Mincey at the other end.
01:09:47He's shot his block.
01:09:49Comes back.
01:09:50And it's in!
01:09:51Hinshawood!
01:09:53Brighton Lee!
01:09:54Well, he has this happy knack of popping up and scoring.
01:09:58Important goals.
01:10:00And in his return from the ankle injury,
01:10:02that has kept in sideline since September the 13th,
01:10:06Jack Hinshawood gives Brighton the lead.
01:10:09There's the big ball.
01:10:10He started out wide to Minty.
01:10:12Brentford will upside it.
01:10:13Inti did really well.
01:10:18Block comes out and Hinshawood hits it.
01:10:21And Coyote's playing them onside in the middle.
01:10:24And it's 2-1 to Brighton and Hove Albion.
01:10:27That's good refereeing, though,
01:10:31because the attention of Chris Cavanaugh was called by the assistant referee for offside
01:10:37right at the start of that.
01:10:38And he looked and he saw the flag and he nearly blew.
01:10:42And then he saw Brighton's brake building and allowed it to go on.
01:10:46Across from Lewis Potter, he's dangerous into the box.
01:10:53Brentford appealing for a penalty and they get one.
01:10:56Sharder impeded in the middle.
01:10:57And just when it looked as if Brighton were going to turn this around and win the game,
01:11:03they've given away a second penalty.
01:11:06Shard in the middle.
01:11:07There's hands on there and a tug back by De Kuyper.
01:11:12But so many, many, many times in games you see that offence go unpunished.
01:11:17Can Brentford get the equalising goal?
01:11:22It's a yellow card for the goalkeeper for Bruggan.
01:11:25Trying to intimidate Thiago.
01:11:27Difficult job to intimidate Thiago, by the way.
01:11:30Took the first one brilliantly.
01:11:31Sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.
01:11:34And it's staying!
01:11:36Run this side by Bart for Bruggan!
01:11:39It's the Bart man!
01:11:41Who is Brighton's hero?
01:11:44Little stuttering run.
01:11:47And it was well-read by Verbruggan.
01:11:49This time went the right way.
01:11:51And comfortably saved.
01:11:52It was a rotten penalty, really.
01:11:56Wow, what a dramatic ending to the game.
01:12:00It's football.
01:12:01And it's football in this day and age as well,
01:12:03where from the time it's given until the time it's taken,
01:12:07it's ridiculous how long they have to wait.
01:12:10The difference now compared to when penalties were given back in the day,
01:12:13I think it's a different challenge for players.
01:12:15How they deal with that.
01:12:16And all the commotion that goes with it,
01:12:18and all the furore and the checks,
01:12:19and then the behaviour of the goalkeeper who subsequently gets booked.
01:12:22He also had already taken one,
01:12:24so there's a bit of mind games with the keeper.
01:12:26But Thiago's been immense for us this season.
01:12:28About time I'll say one.
01:12:30Nah, obviously, you have a plan together with the other goalies
01:12:34and the goalie coach for the penalties.
01:12:36Unfortunately, the first time it didn't work out.
01:12:39Second time it did.
01:12:40So, yeah, happy.
01:12:42He's remarkable for you, isn't he, Danny Welbeck?
01:12:45Yeah, I think we speak a lot about him during the season.
01:12:48I always say he's like a good red wine.
01:12:51The all he gets, the better he gets.
01:12:52And we are very pleased to have him in our squad as a leader,
01:12:56as a player, as a personality.
01:12:58To be back involved with the boys is just one thing to get on the pitch
01:13:01and, yeah, to pop up with the goal.
01:13:03If it wasn't the cleanest of strikes,
01:13:04but I probably wouldn't be standing there doing this interview
01:13:06if it weren't for Bart.
01:13:07So, all credit goes to him making the save
01:13:09and massively important we got the three points there.
01:13:12Does Keith Andrews have a point on how long players have to wait
01:13:15and all the nonsense they have to put up with
01:13:17before they take a spot, Keith?
01:13:19A little bit, but I think, as players,
01:13:22you should be able to keep your focus.
01:13:24And I had it quite a few years ago against Blackburn
01:13:26and it took about five or six minutes before I took the penalty.
01:13:29So, I just took myself away from everyone
01:13:30and kept my composure.
01:13:34But then, if you look here, it's a really good penalty.
01:13:38Sentence to keep the wrong way, a little stutter
01:13:40and gives the keeper no chance.
01:13:43And then, when we go into the other one,
01:13:45I'm sure you'll have something to say on the keeper.
01:13:47It's a really good save.
01:13:48Yeah, it's a good save.
01:13:49But, I mean, you're looking at him to say,
01:13:51you've got to Thiago, if you're going to do the stutter,
01:13:53if you're going to do the slow run-up,
01:13:55if he's already gone, which he had gone in the first penalty,
01:13:58you've got to have the ability to change it.
01:14:00That's the whole point of having the stutter
01:14:02and the slow run-up, is you're waiting for the goalkeeper.
01:14:04He waits for the goalkeeper,
01:14:06realises and still can't change it in time.
01:14:10That's why it's such a poor penalty,
01:14:11a badly hit one.
01:14:13Whether the time took its toll,
01:14:14the occasion, the timing of the penalty itself,
01:14:18but you look at it and say,
01:14:19well, as a keeper, that's your moment,
01:14:21that's your time.
01:14:21Did you score that penalty at Blackburn, by the way?
01:14:25Yeah, I put it in the top corner.
01:14:25Yeah, I thought you would.
01:14:26We won the league that day as well.
01:14:28That's why you told the story.
01:14:31Sunderland were looking to hold on to a top four place at Fulham,
01:14:34who'd picked up ten of their eleven points at Craven Cottage.
01:14:37Simon Brotherton, watch this one.
01:14:39Not many would have predicted Fulham would be eight points behind
01:14:43newly promoted Sunderland at this stage of the season,
01:14:46but five defeats in six has hampered their progress.
01:14:50Josh King comes into the team today,
01:14:52with Sasha Lukic serving a one-match ban.
01:14:55Sunderland secured a 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out
01:14:58and name the same starting eleven today.
01:15:01Granit Xhaka and Noah Sidiqe are both a booking away from a ban.
01:15:05Wilson Isidore leads the attack.
01:15:07Brian Broby scored the late equaliser against the league leaders,
01:15:10but starts on the bench once again.
01:15:12They've been pretty good at home, Fulham, so far.
01:15:17Three wins, just the one defeat and a draw as well.
01:15:20Good job, too.
01:15:21They're away form.
01:15:22Not quite so clever up to this point.
01:15:26All the noise inside Craven Cottage being made by the Sunderland fans at the moment.
01:15:32An opportunity for Bertrand Traore.
01:15:36Ball played in towards Isidore originally,
01:15:39but Traore then waltzing into the heart of the penalty area.
01:15:42Traore almost skipping all the way through.
01:15:46An important block made by Bernd Leno.
01:15:57Le Fay.
01:15:58Here now comes Renilda Mandava.
01:16:04Good covering.
01:16:08So what can Sunderland do here?
01:16:12In it comes from Le Fay.
01:16:20White shirts looking to break.
01:16:22Tidy pass brings out Harry Wilson.
01:16:24Sessegnon's up there as well.
01:16:26It's Wilson now.
01:16:27Going for goal and almost finding the corner.
01:16:30And Harry Wilson, who scored a hat-trick for Wales in their 7-1 victory over North Macedonia,
01:16:36almost continued in his free-scoring ways here.
01:16:39Jimenez with the little flick.
01:16:43Sunderberger is there, and suddenly Sunderland look a little bit open here as Kevin brings it forward.
01:16:50And still, and that's a good save by Roots.
01:16:54Down quickly with a strong hand.
01:16:56Fulham denied.
01:16:59Well struck.
01:17:01But Robin Roofs was there.
01:17:04Obviously he's looking up at the sky there.
01:17:05Not sure if he's moaning about the rain or the fact that his team haven't scored yet.
01:17:09Berger crafts across, and the header beyond the far post, it's Kevin again.
01:17:18And this time, rather more straightforward for Sunderland's goalkeeper.
01:17:22Well, no changes made by either side at half-time.
01:17:28Sunderland get us underway at the start of the second half.
01:17:33And look to make a fast start as well with Le Fay, who almost finds the bottom corner.
01:17:39Inside the opening 15 seconds of the second half.
01:17:42Sunderland quick to break here.
01:17:44And Le Fay sneaking in, sensing the opportunity, and almost finding the bottom corner.
01:17:52This is Nordi Mukiele.
01:17:57Oh, lovely.
01:18:00Brilliant bit of skill from the Frenchman.
01:18:03Lovely looking pass into Enzo Le Fay, into Isidore.
01:18:12Lovely little flick there, taking a couple of players out of the play.
01:18:18And Isidore almost in.
01:18:20A couple of changes coming for the home team.
01:18:23Kevin is replaced by Samuel Chukwese.
01:18:28Chukwese, the Nigerian international who they've got on loan from Mila.
01:18:33A bit of room here for Berger.
01:18:37Chukwese waiting on the near side, through the middle they go.
01:18:42It's Harry Wilson, and it's wide of the post.
01:18:45Fulham almost finding a way through Sunderland's defence here.
01:18:51It's been that sort of day for Fulham in front of goal.
01:18:53Calvin Bassey.
01:18:57Chukwese on the near side.
01:19:00He's an international team-mate as well.
01:19:05He's looking for...
01:19:07And the challenge coming in from Raul Jimenez on goalkeeper Robin Roofs.
01:19:11Just hung in the air.
01:19:15And Sunderland have a goal kick.
01:19:17Chukwese will have another go into Sessegnon.
01:19:26Oh, it looked inviting for him there.
01:19:30And Ryan Sessegnon on his 100th Premier League appearance.
01:19:36Sends it right across the face of the goal and wide.
01:19:41Time's ticking away here.
01:19:43We're up to 83 minutes.
01:19:46Urged forward by the home crowd.
01:19:52Chukwese.
01:19:54That's an interesting one, and Jimenez is on the end of it.
01:20:01Well, they've waited a long time for a goal this afternoon,
01:20:04but for the home crowd, it was worth the wait.
01:20:08Chukwese's made a difference since he came on.
01:20:11And that delivery was in a corridor of uncertainty for the goalkeeper.
01:20:18And Raul Jimenez pounced.
01:20:24Sunderland lose for only the third time this season in the Premier League.
01:20:27A little bit of an altercation down there on the pitch.
01:20:32Kenny Teta pulling one or two people away.
01:20:35Tempers fraying at the end of that match.
01:20:38When Chukwese took the ball, I tried to be in a good position for me to receive the ball.
01:20:44I think between the goalkeeper and the defender, they were confused who was going to take the ball.
01:20:49And I took advantage of that, and I was able to score.
01:20:53I think they probably deserved to win this game because they imposed their style, their strength.
01:21:00We expected more or less this kind of game.
01:21:05For us, we are still in our journey in this Premier League.
01:21:10We want to improve our way of playing.
01:21:13It wasn't enough today, and we got finished.
01:21:15The home form is being very good.
01:21:18The third clean sheet at home, and we have to try to replicate that situation on the road, for the away games.
01:21:25It's something new for us this season, because if you look and you analyse the last three seasons at this level,
01:21:30you have been very similar away at home.
01:21:33We want to make this place our fortress, to give that consistency that we need,
01:21:37and to give the players the confidence that we are in the right track.
01:21:39Well, they'll get confidence from that, won't they?
01:21:42Because they caused Sunderland more problems than probably any other team this season.
01:21:48Yeah, they did.
01:21:49I thought they were excellent, and they caused Sunderland problems all afternoon,
01:21:54and especially from these running deep, getting numbers into the penalty box,
01:21:58running with power, aggression, making sure they always had the numbers in there,
01:22:03and that was unlucky, five players in the penalty area.
01:22:06Well, you're looking at when Fulham take the game by the scruff of neck,
01:22:11and they really are aggressive with the ball, and aggressive in their attitude,
01:22:15in getting numbers forward, getting wide, and they get the options there.
01:22:18They're a really good side.
01:22:20When they sit back, or they're not, they're kind of passive, and they allow the game to drift,
01:22:25they struggle.
01:22:26That's what they've done away from home, and here today,
01:22:29they really did go out with a fantastic attitude just to take the game to Sunderland.
01:22:34And you're looking at all the numbers, getting in the box, they really didn't hold anything back.
01:22:39They just kept going, and going, and going, and this is just a wonderful quality.
01:22:43This is just a dream for any centre-forward.
01:22:45Obviously, it's good movement, but the cross is incredible,
01:22:48and Imanis in the middle of the goal, right place, gets a nice tap-in, and a good win for Fulham.
01:22:54And they're the stats that prove how much Fulham caused Sunderland problems,
01:23:01more than Nottingham Forest, and more than Arsenal as well.
01:23:05Let's show you the league table, then, before we go.
01:23:09Arsenal can go six points clear at the top when they have Spurs in the North London derby on Sunday.
01:23:15A fifth win in six moves Chelsea up to second.
01:23:19At the bottom, Wolves have now gone 16 Premier League matches without a win.
01:23:24Liverpool are eight points off the top after a sixth defeat in seven.
01:23:29Thanks to Rob and Wayne.
01:23:31Gabby here tomorrow, off home now, to watch the cricket.
01:23:35Oh, goodnight.
01:23:37One, two, one.
01:23:51One, two, one.
01:23:53One, two, one.
01:23:56One, two, one.
01:24:01Run.
