00:29it's time for today's conversation here's meltdown hey it's meltdown here with dad and tony they're

00:36the the proud owners of the soon to be uh rock and brews coming up in royal oak and uh uh dan we're

00:42just talking about this off the air so tell us some of the other places that you guys own in royal oak

00:45as well yeah we own fifth avenue um we've had that for 15 years and we also have five to six main

00:51which is a dueling piano bar and tequila blue which is at sixth in in main and we've had that since

00:572018 so this will be our third venture um we're very very excited we think it's a absolutely

01:03outstanding concept that it's going to fit royal oak like a glove yeah and uh tony um when did this

01:09all when did this concept like come about how long ago danny danny and i just with danny's family

01:18discovered it in orlando florida i don't know maybe last year there's a rock and brews very cool we felt

01:24like it's this is this feels so royal oak and uh and we said you know we're gonna pursue this and we

01:31did we met the guys uh we met paul stanley on facetime and that kind of uh that sealed it for

01:39us uh and and uh we we've been working on this design for this building where we have a design

01:45call every week this design in decor and art package is going to blow people away okay so uh well tony since

01:53you brought it up uh what were your thoughts about uh uh you know facetiming with a rock legend

01:57immediately you can and maybe he would say the same thing about us i don't know but immediately

02:03you felt the aura of of just just rock and roll royalty and he said he said to us uh nice to meet

02:12you guys we're looking forward to coming to royal oak it was just very cool and dan you're on that call

02:18as well i was i was and uh he couldn't have been nicer um he was just uh just a great guy very

02:26excited and of course they have such a connection to detroit um so they're really really pumped about

02:31coming into the market they're really looking forward to it it's just such a good fit and did

02:36he have his makeup on he actually did not he did not have the makeup on did you guys have makeup

02:42well yeah i have to tell him danny i don't know how i could send you a picture actually

02:48if you if you'd like if if you were at fifth avenue or tequila blue this past halloween i i donned the

02:56kiss makeup and stood in front of the building and said we're ready he was in full gene simmons

03:03garb is pretty good costume i was impressed now wait a second was this was this like a hint as to

03:08what was coming or or was this yeah yeah it was a prelude yes for sure a little bit of a hint now

03:15how many times have you guys both uh seen kiss uh dan i'll start with you how many times have you

03:19i saw him once at pine knob i'm a i'm a little younger not as young as i'd like to be but um and

03:26they they were you know they're rock legends unbelievable performance they they crushed it it was

03:32awesome and what about you tony i i was with danny and uh yeah we had a lot of

03:38fun uh i wish i was at that tiger stadium we have this cool poster of them at tiger stadium i wasn't

03:45there um but i you know their songs are amazing i just uh that's all i sing in the car now just songs

03:53all right well remind me not to drive anywhere with you uh you singing especially but uh uh no that

04:00kiss show that was uh when i first got to detroit 1995 that was the first major event i went to

04:06and uh that's coming up on 30 years i think i want to say june 25th or june 26 you guys should

04:11do something special around that day yeah yeah absolutely yeah it's a great idea yeah so i got

04:17a lot of ideas so you could have hired me to do your decor and everything who needs drew we got you

04:22right that's right i don't even know who this drew guy is who is that okay no it's cool that you

04:27work with drew he's a great guy uh dan so you went down to rock and bruise in florida you said now

04:32did you go down there to go there or did you just happen to kind of stumble across it we were uh on

04:36a family trip disney world and kind of stumbled across it and and when we uh when we purchased

04:41the building we were looking for a concept and it just it just kind of all fell into place it is

04:46kind of wild that here in detroit rock city there's really not a you know something devoted to kiss

04:50like that or or to rock and roll in general so this is gonna be really cool so tony he tells you

04:54about this and how long does it take to really get the the wheels turning and this whole thing to come

04:59to fruition we met we met the uh the franchisee in florida this this is a franchise obviously and

05:07uh they were very nice and connected us to the franchisor and uh we met the ceo they invited us

05:15out to they're so nice they invited us out to la uh and hosted us for the lions rams game and and

05:22and just embarrassed us uh you know in in front of in front of all the rams fans but uh yeah it was

05:30um they've been great they they were very excited to meet us and they once they i think they probably

05:37looked at what you know what we who we are in royal oak and what royal oak's all about and and this is

05:43the first time they have done a second generation they they've all their prior stores have been ground

05:51up so they flew out here they looked at the store at the building and they uh they said after we

05:58walked through they said we loved it and to be honest we weren't sure we were going to go forward

06:02um because we've never done this before but they love the building they said it's going to be a great

06:07fit the the rock and roll themed restaurant on the main floor live music on the second floor and just

06:14this design of the rooftop is is going to be it's really going to be a flagship this this this uh rock

06:21and bruise is going to be a flagship for downtown royal oak and i think the whole metro detroit area

06:26now uh dan is this like just like pretty much just kiss stuff or is it just like rock and roll in

06:31general rock and roll in general it's all rock obviously there is there is a kiss component to it

06:36because paul and gene you know are part of the founders but it's it's all rock so you'll have

06:41beatles you'll have nirvana you'll have guns and roses chili peppers and there will be a um a

06:48a focus on detroit music people people that are from the area that are you know very uh much into the

06:57rock history of rock and roll and um so we're really looking forward to to people um coming to

07:04the venue seeing um seeing all these different artists especially the detroit artists and and it's

07:10going to be it's almost like a rock and roll museum with some of these pieces and and what

07:15we're going to have in store for everyone it's very cool stuff and dan you're talking about pieces did

07:19did does kiss so they have like like the rock and roll hall of fame has like uh extra stuff they kind

07:24of switch around in stores you're gonna have something like that yeah it's going to be more like

07:27artwork or uh posters of um concerts memorabilia not so much memorabilia um so it's not like a hard rock

07:37kind of vibe it's more more art and and we'll have um concerts going on the tvs when sports aren't on

07:44of like a beatles concert from the from the 70s or or um guns and roses concerts so it'll be all music

07:52all the time like just to give an example of one of the art pieces we're going to have a 27 section and

07:58what that is going to be are going to be murals of of artists that sadly lost their lives at the age

08:03of 27 so it'll be hendrix it'll be um cobain um who else amy winehouse amy winehouse exactly right

08:12so that'll be on the morrison yeah yeah morrison things like that just really cool things that

08:18people that just love rock and roll will really appreciate now of course you guys are starting

08:23to stop but do you guys have a um tony do you have an opening date yet or is that kind of still in flux

08:27we're the first week of march uh we don't have a date uh hopefully the first or second week of

08:34march and and it looks like we're we're going to be good we're we're pushing hard and the and the

08:40franchisor is pushing us hard and uh and we're not you know we're not doing a lot of construction it's

08:45art and decor and it's just it's just going to come together and and uh and be it'd be very exciting

08:51for everybody in in uh in the area and of course tony you're looking for uh employees or i guess

08:57as they call them roadies so how can people get a hold of you if they want to work at rock and

09:01brews yeah we can't do much with this beautiful uh space without people to bring it alive so uh all

09:08this week and next week uh monday through saturday 2 p.m to 5 p.m they can go to 208 west fifth avenue

09:16in royal oak go to the location or they can go to royal oak at rock and brews dot com royal oak at

09:26rock and brews dot com and uh and communicate with us there but we're looking for some from some new

09:33rock and roll uh stars uh in in the area to uh to join us in this in this uh this very cool endeavor

09:41now are you actually in rock and brews right now tony i'm at fifth avenue right now that's what i

09:47thought okay you said here i didn't know if you were like actually in there so well i'm looking i'm

09:52looking at rock and brews okay gotcha well my my birthday is on march 10th so you can open it up on

09:57my birthday and that'd be great and then we can we have the first major event be your birthday at rock

10:02and brews see there you go perfect i couldn't have said it better myself uh make sure they make sure

10:07that drew signs off on it we can have we can have drew jump out of a cake or something okay that's

10:13enough for this conversation uh but uh no seriously uh dan and tony thank you guys so much uh for talking

10:18to us about this this is really cool and i saw this pop up on my uh feed a couple weeks ago i'm like

10:23why hasn't somebody done this before yeah and and a few comments that we've heard uh we're about that

10:31why why hasn't this happened because of of kiss and detroit rock city uh i guess i guess we're glad

10:38it hasn't i guess i guess we're uh meant to be it's destiny and uh we love royal oak we love metro

10:45detroit and so we're going to spread that love into the rock and roll world and i don't know if you guys

10:50know this or not but john five who's now the guitar player for motley crew is from uh gross point

10:54and really he actually has a kiss museum he's he's collected so much stuff he's got a kiss museum

11:01and i know you said you weren't doing a you know memorabilia and that kind of thing but uh john is

11:05one of the biggest kiss fans in all of the metro detroit area we have to meet them yeah we have to meet

11:11them yeah well good luck with everything guys we'll uh post this we'll give you guys a good shout and
