00:08at the Australian Catholic University in Brisbane. They go to classes with subjects from a first
00:14year Bachelor of Business and exercise sessions run by students.
00:20It's a wonderful partnership between the university and our charity.
00:24The initiative has been running for five years.
00:27I remember talking to friends and I've been talking about it for a long time about how
00:30we might have to make something up for our kids when they finish school.
00:34Her son Rory was a part of the first cohort. Using a text-to-speech device, he says
00:40I think really there were no options. I feel very proud.
00:44Around 480 people took part in the latest Voices of Queenslanders with Disabilities survey.
00:50Half said they could access courses and training, which is down 15%. While the number of people
00:55with a job had also dropped.
00:57There is some urgent need to address unemployment and especially income inequality for people
01:03with disability.
01:04Before joining the program, Kelsey Blakey received rejection after rejection when trying
01:10to find a job.
01:11The campus has really helped me build my confidence in working.

01:17Kathy Harris has seen the change in her son, who has since transitioned into a work program.
01:22He used to be very compliant. He'd wait for instruction all the time. Now he's sort of
01:28defying me. It's fantastic.
01:42Appreciate it.
