A survey of Queenslanders with disabilities has found around one in three lives in housing that does not meet their needs. The disability community and real estate sector are working together to address those issues.

00:17She's lived in six rentals in three decades.
00:21Those rentals have sometimes been really difficult to come across.
00:24The rental and the housing crisis is affecting everybody but it doesn't affect everybody equally.
00:32It has been really challenging for people with disability.
00:35The disability community has partnered with the real estate sector to launch a campaign to improve those options.

00:55We feel that as a peak body it's our role to be able to convey some of those learnings.
01:00More than 480 Queenslanders with a disability were surveyed last year.
01:05About one in three reporting they didn't live in a home that met their needs.
01:09With one of the main challenges being the lack of modifications.
01:13It's important that tenants understand that they are allowed to make a request for a modification to a property.

01:22We're likely to be very good, reliable and often long term tenants.
01:28Because we don't want to leave something behind that we have found that can work for us.
