00:00Welcome to your weekend weather update. It's not quite the calm after the storm, but things are certainly looking a little gentler weather-wise on Saturday.
00:10There is Storm Goretti slowly, and I do mean slowly, pushing away from the east, but it's leaving still some showers coming into parts of eastern England,
00:19particularly Lincolnshire, into Norfolk and Suffolk on Saturday morning, and they may well also still be accompanied by a cold wind,
00:27and could even be a few flakes of snow mixed in with them. Also, the potential for things to be icy as we start with temperatures pretty close to or below freezing.
00:36There'll be some winteriness in the showers across Wales, pretty well scattered, but certainly over the hills we could see a little more snow coming in.
00:42One or two showers around the coast of Scotland, perhaps into the eastern side of Northern Ireland, but many areas will be dry and bright on Saturday,
00:51and crucially, those winds will be lighter. Now, the air is still cold, and particularly if you've got snow lying on the ground,
00:57temperatures are going to struggle to get too high, but we should see those values creeping up to three or four Celsius,
01:02and without those bitter winds, it'll probably feel quite a bit warmer for many compared to Friday.
01:07In the southwest, well, we might get up to seven or eight degrees Celsius.
01:12Through Saturday evening, everything likely to freeze up again, but then eyes turn out to the west as weather systems start to move in.
01:20Now, coming in from the Atlantic, they're going to bring some moisture. The isobar is squeezing together as well,
01:25so the winds will be picking up. There is quite a bit of uncertainty about the timing of these weather fronts,
01:31and that is crucial because if we rewind, you can see that they are bringing milder air.
01:36So it's going to be a cold start to Sunday for many, but this milder air will try and push in.
01:41The big question mark is just when we will see that weather front bring the cloud and the rain in,
01:48because as it hits the colder air, it will bring some snow. So timing is crucial.
01:52Looks like the hills of northern England and the hills mostly of Scotland,
01:56but at lower levels, there's the possibility of seeing some snow for a time.
01:59It all depends on the timing. Certainly from the middle and southwards,
02:02it mostly looks like outbreaks of rain, and parts of eastern England may not see that rain until very late in the day.
02:08So if you've got plans for Sunday, do keep up to date with the details,
02:12because as I say, the timing of this wet weather coming in is still open to doubt.
02:17Still feeling pretty cold, particularly as those winds pick up three, four degrees as the rain is coming in.
02:22That's not going to feel very pleasant, but late in the day, we might get to double digits in the southwest.
02:27Again, it all depends on the timing of that milder air coming in,
02:30but expect some wet weather by the end of Sunday.
