00:00Upgraded bus shelters across Tobago, carried out by the Division of Infrastructure.
00:07This one located at Gardenside is fully equipped with CCTV cameras and electronic bus schedules.
00:15However, there is a limited supply of buses across Tobago.
00:20We caught one member of the public observing the upgraded bus shelters in Scarborough,
00:25labeled a transit lounge.
00:27Which bus are you waiting for?
00:29Waiting on the Charlottesville bus. I'm going to Roxborough actually.
00:32Oh. And how often do you take the bus?
00:35Well, only once I want actually. I'm not an everyday user.
00:39Bus woes in Tobago as members of the travelling public are complaining of a limited number of buses operating,
00:46sometimes a long wait and at times no buses arrive.
00:50When you use the various buses in Tobago, is it a very long wait?
00:55Well, sometimes it's really not dependable because last time I was going to Charlottesville,
00:59the bus didn't come at all, so I had to take a maxi.
01:02Yeah, so at times you can't get a maxi.
01:05The timing is not always accurate.
01:07So sometimes you come and you get the bus on time,
01:09sometimes again the just pass and say, well, no bus coming today.
01:12TV6 News contacted the General Manager of the Public Transport Service Corporation, Patrick Gomez,
01:19who in a statement confirmed the shortage of buses in Tobago.
01:24Mr. Gomez said, quote,
01:26The PTSC advises that it currently has an average of four buses operating out of Tobago.
01:34The PTSC has been experiencing supply chain delays in acquiring essential parts for buses that were out of service.
01:43However, some parts were recently received and the PTSC will begin deploying those parts
01:48and the necessary additional labour from Trinidad this week to restore additional units to service.
01:55This activity is expected to return three to four additional buses to service over the next two weeks.
02:03He said other unserviceable buses have also been transferred to the corporation's main workshop in Port of Spain for medium-term repairs.
02:12Some of these units are currently awaiting parts and once received and the repairs are completed,
02:19the units will be returned to service in Tobago.
