00:00A Hilton Hotel in Minnesota, which canceled bookings made by DHS and ICE, is no longer a
00:05Hilton Hotel. The Hampton Inn by Hilton in Lakeville, Minnesota, an independently owned
00:11franchise, was outed by Homeland Security after the department shared an email in which the hotel
00:16had notified the DHS that it was canceling bookings by agents ahead of an immigration
00:21enforcement deployment. Hilton said in a statement that the hotel's independent owner,
00:25Everspeak Hospitality, assured them that the problem was fixed, but it wasn't. In Hilton's
00:31statement, they also referenced this video shot by a conservative influencer, apparently recorded
00:37hours after the promised policy reversal. Now, in the video, the influencer, Nick Sartor,
00:43goes to the front desk and is told that reservations under DHS or ICE were not allowed by management.
00:49Now, Hilton, for its part, is trying to distance itself from the whole political controversy,
00:53saying that the brand, quote, is and has always been a welcoming place for all. Hilton added that
00:58the corporate office is engaging with franchises to reinforce company standards across the board.
