00:00Hi, how are you doing? I'm good. How are you? Yeah, good. Thank you. You are really kind. Thank you. You are too. Where are you from? I'm German. Guten Tag. That was very nice. Thank you.
00:28How long is your stay in Vietnam? So I came here on the 7th. So that was like, I think 15 days ago. I went to Hanoi and then straight to the Ha Giang Loop. That was my personal favorite in Vietnam so far. But I'm very looking forward to Ho Chi Minh too. But the loop is just incredible. I think I would recommend it to anyone. It's very, very good. Did you ride a motorbike? Oh, I didn't ride myself. But you can go with easy riders. So it's a little safer because they know the roads.
00:58best, you know. Yeah. You are traveling all over the world. Yeah, I traveled a couple countries. Graduated last year. Went to Thailand. Went to Australia. Worked in Australia for a while.
01:12Then Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia. Now back to Vietnam because I liked it so much. How long is your whole trip? 11 months in total.
01:21I planned to stay six months, but now it's 11. You know how it is sometimes. Yeah, you're like an almost full-time traveler.
01:31Yeah, just one year abroad. I think I would advise everyone to do that. Like it's very life-changing. It opens doors and changes you a lot as a person. Yeah.
01:43What's your favorite place in Vietnam? I would definitely say the loop. So Ha Giang in the area. The mountains are just incredible. People are amazing.
01:52To go through like tiny villages and stuff. It's very, very, very beautiful. But just Vietnam itself. It's like a very nice place. I love the people here. Everyone is very kind. Culture and food is amazing, of course. So I think Vietnam is one of my top countries so far that I've seen in the world.
02:13I eat some stuff that I don't even know what it is. You just like sit down in the street with random people and have food and it's like good 99% of the time. That's what I would recommend anybody that comes to Vietnam. Don't like just look up on TikTok the most famous places. Just go out in the streets and where you see like a lot of local people or whatever and they have like the tiny chairs on the ground. This is where you eat and this is where you get the best food, of course.
02:41What's your best memory in Vietnam?
02:45Yeah, it was. Sorry, I've been mentioning it all the time, but it was definitely my favorite. I would recommend to go with like a smaller company, not with one of the big ones. So it's like more intimate. You get to know the people better. For me, it was just a group of four good homestays, good food, good people. Just an amazing experience. I would recommend Hanoi. I loved Hanoi.
03:08It was beautiful, like a lot of culture, like the museums. Just like very different to everything that I've seen so far. I think maybe since it's a communist country too. It's very different, but amazing. I love it.
03:23You enjoy a lot.
03:25Thank you for your time.
03:26No worries. Thank you so much.
03:30Hello, how are you doing?
03:31I'm good. How are you?
03:33Good, thank you.
03:33Where are you from?
03:34I'm from England.
03:35What's your favorite place in Vietnam so far?
03:38Hai Giang. We did the Hai Giang loop. That was so fun. That was definitely my favorite, but I also really like it here in Da Nang as well.
03:44You rode a motorbike there.
03:46Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It was so fun. Some of the roads were a bit dodgy, but it was really, really fun. And all the people in our group were really, really nice and friendly and we all got on really well.
03:56What do you do for a living?
03:57I work in a pub at home. Yeah, just pouring pints.
04:02Do you like drinking?
04:03Yes, I do. I'm actually quite hung over today.
04:06Because we went out last night, so we came to recover at the beach today.
04:11Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like very calm.
04:13Nice and calm, relaxing, yeah.
04:15What's your best memory in Vietnam?
04:17Probably the first day of the Hai Giang loop. We stayed at like a homestay with some like local people and it was really nice. We all had dinner together and we all had drinks and it was like, yeah, it was really nice just to get to know everybody.
04:33We hadn't stayed in a homestay like that before. Like it was just a really nice memory.
04:37You are friendly, so I think you can make friends easily.
04:40Yeah, I think so. I think so.
04:42What advice would you give to other Western travelers in Vietnam?
04:46Just speak to people. If you're traveling on your own, go for like party hostels or just more social hostels. Just read the reviews about the hostels.
04:55If you're trying to make friends, just put yourself out there and go to the events or whatever. The best way to make friends is just by going for it because people aren't necessarily going to come up to you.
05:05You've got to push yourself out of your comfort zone a little bit.
05:08Thank you for time.
05:09You're welcome.
05:10Have a nice trip.
05:13Hi, how are you doing?
05:14Oh, I'm great. That's my first vacation on Vietnam. I'm so glad to be here. So cool. I love this place.
05:22Where are you from?
05:23I'm from Ukraine.
05:24Privit.
05:25Privit.
05:26Yakslava.
05:27Ah, dobra. Spravo dosu dobra.
05:28Why did you decide to come to Vietnam?
05:31Oh, I had so hard work. So this is finally my time to vacation. So I didn't have a vacation more than I feel like two or three years. So I'm really happy to finally came here. And this is the first time that I visited Vietnam.
05:46What do you do for a living?
05:47I'm working as a real estate broker in Tokyo.
05:50You live in Tokyo?
05:51Yeah, I live in Tokyo.
05:52I live in Tokyo.
05:53And do you speak Japanese?
05:54Ah, so isne.
05:55Oh, so isne.
05:56Oh, so isne.
05:57I'll check my Japanese.
05:58Oh, so isne.
05:59Oh, so isne.
06:00Oh, so isne.
06:01Yeah, you're like a Japanese.
06:02No, no, no, no, no. I'm just, but I work a lot with the Japanese. So I feel that's give me more like power to learn the Japanese language.
06:14How many languages do you speak?
06:16I speak Ukrainian, English, Japanese, Russian, and I speak a little bit Italian, but I already forgot a lot.
06:24So many languages.
06:25Yeah, but I wanted to learn maybe some other languages, maybe like some European in the future.
06:32I don't know, maybe to like learn more Italian. I don't know. I will think about that later.
06:37I try to learn more, explore the world, like discover the new cities, new countries, learn something new. I love it.
06:44What's your impression of Vietnam?
06:46So nice atmosphere. So relaxing compared like, for example, to the Tokyo. So relaxing. The people are nice and kind. And I feel like everything like more like chill. No one runs somewhere or like hurry up. Everything like, like this, like relaxing. Yes. So nice vibes.
07:07What are your plans in Vietnam?
07:08Right now, after maybe like 30 minutes, we're planning to go to a mountain and then to back to the beach again. So yeah, I want to like more relaxed vacation, but tomorrow we'll go to gold bridge with the hands like, yes.
07:26So I want to visit this place and they're a really nice, good park, like around. So I really wanted to visit this place.
07:34But I feel nothing special, just like discover around and just relaxing.
07:39How did you learn Japanese and English?
07:41English, I started to learn when I was like six years old or something like that. So from like childhood, like I started to learn English. And then I finished the university as an English teacher, like for kids.
07:56And then when I came to Japan the first time, so I went to Japanese language school and I studied there like around two years for learning the Japanese language.
08:06Thank you for your time. Thank you so much. Yes. Everyone come to Vietnam and have a nice vacation. Thank you.
08:12Thank you. Thank you.
08:15Hi, how are you doing?
08:16Good. How are you?
08:17Yeah, good. Thank you. Where are you from?
08:18I'm from in the U.S. Ohio.
08:20What do you do for a living?
08:21Nothing right now. I usually work seasonally. I used to teach swim lessons and I taught English.
08:27What's your favorite place in Vietnam?
08:29I would actually say the north, like near Ha Giang. It's beautiful. The loop that people normally do by motorbike.
08:36Aren't you scared or were you okay? I was okay. I actually have my motorbike license. I love it. Yeah.
08:43Oh, you are brave. Are you traveling to other countries as well?
08:47Yes. This trip I went to Thailand, Laos, and then I came to Vietnam. And then I met my boyfriend in Indonesia. And I went to New Zealand. And then we went to Japan. And then I went to South Korea. And now back to Vietnam.
09:03Wow. So many countries.
09:04Yeah. Wow. What advice would you give to other Western travelers in Vietnam?
09:09In Vietnam, I would probably say to make sure that you're respectful of the culture. Because I think it's very important to not take over when you're traveling, but to enjoy it.
09:22Because it's a beautiful country and the people are so happy and welcoming. So just make sure that you respect it and enjoy it because everyone's happy to help you.
09:32Thank you for your time. Thank you. Have a nice trip. You too.
09:35Okay. Hi. How are you doing? Good. How are you? Yeah. Good. Thank you. Yeah. You're really kind. Yeah. Thank you. Where are you from?
09:42I'm from Australia. And I'm from Ireland. Oh, okay. Okay. Yeah. International. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Do you like beer? Yeah. Yeah. I do. Okay. Okay. Okay. How did you meet each other?
09:52We met in Cat Bat on a cruise?
10:13and things like that we went from um the loop like yeah and then we went down south and then we
10:19realized we had the same route so we're like oh we'll meet up yeah yeah keep going together so you
10:25rode a motorbike yes yeah yeah yeah you are brave yeah we were on the loop we had easy riders so
10:32yeah yeah yeah on the back yeah what's your favorite place in Vietnam so far oh probably
10:39i really like Kat Bat but i also really like Danang so yeah they're probably my two favorite
10:43places so far yeah i liked Sapa Sapa was really nice i only stayed there a couple days but it
10:49was just a nice little relaxing yeah what are your plans i just booked this morning i just booked my
10:54flights to the Philippines on Thursday yeah so i'm going to the Philippines for a month and i'm going
10:59to island hop around the Philippines and then after that maybe Thailand and i'm doing a different route
11:04i'm going into Cambodia and then South Thailand so we might see each other yeah might meet up again
11:10in South Thailand so yeah yeah what do you do for living um i own a hairdressing business in Australia
11:16yeah yeah yeah you're stylish thank you and i'm an occupational therapist i help i help make people's
11:23life a little bit more easier and more independent and things like that so yeah what advice would you
11:27give to other western travelers oh that's crazy oh my god i don't know i think just like be free with
11:33your plans like kind of don't come into it so kind of plan orientated because things just change so
11:39dramatically so i think just having a free plan like open plan yeah kind of helps you meet more
11:43people and things like that too so just being adaptable yeah yeah i think mine is like it's gonna just
11:49it's a roller coaster yeah like it's never linear you're not it's not a trip that goes from here to here
11:54and yeah it's a good time every time like i think you you're learning and growing and it's constant
12:00up and downs but you just have to like keep pushing through because it always i always think when you're
12:05feeling like it's a low point there's a high point right around the corner yeah definitely 100 so i feel
12:09like that's a really good yeah lesson great advice i've noticed like you kind of what you're wearing
12:17is a bit different yeah place like i think in um when i was in Cambodia it wasn't as um conservative
12:24as vietnam i did actually i went and bought clothes that were a little bit more conservative just
12:28because it was a little bit more like i don't know everyone else was a little bit more modest and
12:32i think it depends on like an island and the city i think your what you wear and how you're
12:39perceived is a bit different each place yeah i think as a traveler yeah yeah but not overly not
12:44a lot too much no not everyone's been so friendly yeah everyone's really really friendly yeah thank you
12:48for time thank you thank you so much thank you so much thank you thanks where are you from we're
12:53from france bonjour why did you decide to come to vietnam i like the trees here what about you the

14:09the feet how long is a stay in vietnam um vietnam yeah for a month and we've been in denang probably
14:16we're gonna do about three nights i think so are you traveling to other countries as well yes so we've
14:21done the classic route of english travelers we've done north thailand lao now we're going down vietnam
14:28and then we're gonna go cambodia and south thailand what brought you to southeast asia or vietnam
14:32oh i mean it's very massively traveled like for people leaving uni or like a gap year it's like a
14:41good place to go but yeah it's cheap good food beautiful yeah it's got everything yeah the people
14:47are lovely yeah in vietnam especially it's much cheaper than in english yeah it's so much cheaper it's
14:52crazy it's like a couple pence for a beer it's nice why wouldn't you love it it's not what i used to
14:58yeah and lao lao was incredibly cheap and beautiful yeah very hot but yeah yeah here's great with the
15:07sea breeze yeah and actually having the sea but because lao was very landlocked obviously so it's
15:12like yeah kind of unbearable yeah yeah still nice yeah do you surf or do you do any sports wow
15:20um i don't surf in sri lanka yeah i've done a surf camp so i'm still a beginner but it's fun
15:29yeah i wanted to teach me yeah you can't really get a surfboard yeah the waves aren't great
15:33do you surf here no yeah you couldn't really today do you do any sports i actually went on a run this
15:39morning which was very hot but nice because it's flat here's like perfect and then being able to swim
15:45after what about you guys um i don't really do much sports yeah run a little bit at home but
15:52not really what's your favorite place in vietnam hanoi hi jang hanoi yeah i just loved hanoi so much
15:59the city the vibe but like trees in the light streets you know yeah we really liked hanoi but we're
16:05excited to go to hoi an as well yeah hoi an will be really some good shopping yeah saving space for that
16:12yeah what advice would you give to other travelers in vietnam oh one do the hi jang loop yeah of
16:19course and give yourself a lot of time here yeah don't rush it yeah because there's so much to do
16:25i feel like at first we were rushing thinking we didn't have time but we are but now we're gonna
16:29have loads to enjoy it so yeah go chill i'd say embrace the culture as well like yeah the food and
16:36yeah don't just go to the western yeah like don't just have a burger because there still is a lot of
16:41western food but like yeah yeah you can have it when you want it but the local food is good amazing
16:51it's all great thank you for time thank you
16:57where are you from i am from the wirral in the uk how long is your stay in vietnam my stay in vietnam is

17:15international school oh wow yeah so you are stylish why did you decide to come to vietnam i started
17:23traveling like over a year ago doing australia and then southeast asia was always on my list and then i
17:29kind of just fell in love with vietnam and the culture and i love the food um so that's why i

18:00really cool place to experience have you faced any culture shock in vietnam i think well before i came to
18:06southeast asia i did india so i think that was a bit more of a culture shock and then coming here it's
18:13been um i kind of feel like i was used to the the differences yeah what's your best memory in vietnam
18:20oh my best memory i think one of my favorite memories was doing the ha zhang lu in hanoi

33:59of times like in england when people flash it means that they're letting you go but here it's not it
34:06doesn't mean that so a couple of times i've seen like a lorry coming at me and it's flash and i've
34:12just thought in my mind that that's my signal to go so it's things like that getting used to the roads
34:17and there doesn't seem to be any pedestrian right-of-way so that took a little bit of time
34:24to adjust to but um i think i've yeah it's kind of normal now thank you for your time my pleasure my
