00:00Hello, how are you doing? Good. We're very good. Where are you from? We're both from the
00:19Netherlands. We live in Amsterdam, so from Amsterdam. Yeah, beautiful country. Yes. How
00:25long is your stay in Thailand? Well, we both booked a one-way ticket, so we don't know yet. Maybe
00:31months, maybe years, maybe our whole life. We don't know. We're here for the Muay Thai, so we're gonna
00:36do the boxing training for like a month, we think, and from there we will see. We started in Phuket,
00:42and now we are here for two days, I think, in Aonang, and we want to go to Koh Phi Phi tomorrow,
00:48and after that, probably some islands like Koh Tao, Koh Samui. We like the beaches, so yeah,
00:56we're gonna explore. Islands, we love the islands, we're island girls. Yeah, actually, you look really
01:02happy on the beach. We are, we are very happy. We like to swim, feed in the sand, then we're happy.
01:09We don't have a beach in the Netherlands, so we enjoy it. Why did you decide to come to Thailand?
01:15We wanted to escape the rat race. In the Netherlands, it's all very career-focused,
01:19and we were living in a bubble for a long time, so we really wanted to have some change to find
01:26ourselves, though. That's the wider one-way ticket, I think. We just sold our clothes, our stuff, and
01:32we're just here for the adventure. Yeah. We're still young, so this is the time to do it, I think.
01:37Yeah, it's like a pre-retirement. Now we're still young and beautiful, so. Yes.
01:45What did you do for it? Well, what did you do for it? Before this, I did marketing. Like,
01:51it was my first year of working after studying, so I did one year of working, but I didn't like
01:56working in an office. I needed to go, be a bird, fly away. Yeah, I did the same thing. I worked for a
02:03year. I did communication science, but I think the office life is not for us right now, maybe later.
02:10Not yet. Just, yeah, no, enjoying the sun for now. What's your favorite place in Thailand so far?
02:18Well, I think I've been here before, like a year ago. I went to Thailand for two months,
02:24and I spent a lot of the time in Koh Tao because of the diving. I love to dive. I did the scuba diving
02:30there, so I think that's my favorite place. It's just very chill, and you just can travel around
02:36with the scooter and with the motorbike, and I don't know, it's like the best feeling of freedom,
02:40I think, over there. Yeah. I haven't been in a lot of places in Thailand yet. I've been in Bangkok,
02:47Chiang Mai, Pai, Phuket, and here. But I think I love Pai because you can just rent a scooter,
02:52scooter around through the beautiful mountains, waterfalls, like just the freedom of being on
02:57a scooter. I really love it, but I also love it here. We also went on a scooter yesterday. It was
03:02the best feeling ever. You are riding scooters. Yeah, she is. I'm passenger princess. I'm the
03:07driver. I'm the driver. I'm the driver. She's the baddie. I'm a little scared still, but you know,
03:13we're only here for a few days still, so yeah, but it's nice. What's your best memory in Thailand so far?
03:19I mean, there's so many good memories, but it is. I think the connections you make with people,
03:24they're the best like memories I have. Of course, it's about the place, but like the people and the
03:30connections also with the Thai people. I think that's what I enjoy the most. So for example,
03:35yesterday we went to a Thai party with all like Thai people and they're so kind and
03:41happy and we dance with them. And I think that was a really nice experience. Yeah, totally agree. And I,
03:46yeah, just what I said, like, I really like the motorcycle through the mountains and the nature.
03:51I really love that. Thank you for your time. Thank you so much. Thank you very much. I should leave.
03:59Hi, how are you doing? Good, thank you. Where are you from? We're from Norwich. Yeah,
04:05Norwich, England. There are so many British people in Thailand. Yeah, so many British people. We've
04:11literally like, we've met so many and we've like taken over the islands, which is kind of bad, but
04:17there's also a lot of Dutch people here though. Yeah, loads of people. So many Dutch people. We
04:22haven't seen that many Australians, which is slightly disappointing, but they seem the most fun,
04:28I think. Yeah. Why did you decide to come to Thailand? Well, we're all on a gap year. So we've just
04:34finished A-levels and we thought we'd like work at the start of the year and then come out here and
04:39like that loose. It just looks so beautiful. It looks so amazing. Everyone, I think a lot of people
04:46choose to go to like Southeast Asia in their gap years, especially in England. So we've kind of just
04:51like followed the crowd. What's your favourite place in Thailand so far? So far, Chiang Mai, yeah. But we
04:59haven't really explored like much of the islands yet. We've, this is only the second place that we've
05:04been to. So I'm sure we'll love the rest of the islands once we go there. Yeah, I think we're all
05:09really excited for Koh Tao. Koh Samui. Koh Samui. Yeah, 100%. We want to go horse riding on the beach. Yeah.
05:19What advice would you give to other Western travelers in Thailand? I don't know if we're the best people to
05:24give advice, but I mean, if you're in Chiang Mai or the north of Thailand, try, um, Khao Soi. Oh yeah,
05:31Khao Soi is amazing. That's such a good dish. That's like a special dish from the north of Thailand. Yeah.
05:37And I think they also do it in Laos and Vietnam, but it's amazing. It's like these fried like crispy
05:43noodles and then there are normal noodles underneath and it's got like this amazing curry sauce. Yeah.
05:49That's really good. Also, oh, eating out is definitely, I feel like people kind of get
05:57scared when they go traveling to Southeast Asia because like a lot of people get food poisoning.
06:02Yeah. From places, which is like, we've been fine. We've been out here for two months.
06:06I got food poisoning, but yeah. Yeah. Well, she got it in Laos, but in Thailand so far,
06:10we've been okay. I think like. If you eat more locally. Yeah. Then you'll probably be fine.
06:15Yeah. I think Western food is more likely to have food poisoning. Yeah. Because they can't like,
06:20they don't know how to cook it as well as the like traditional. Just make sure you read reviews
06:27of places. Don't overpack because there's so much stuff here to buy. Oh my God. Yeah. We turn way too
06:33much. Like our backpacks are literally like 80 liters and then another 20 liters and it is like far too
06:40much. So like buy a smaller backpack because you think you'll wear all these outfits
06:45and then you end up wearing like two outfits. Like that's it. Just pack a good amount of shorts.
06:50And bikini. Yeah. Or trunks. You're a boy. You could come out here with no bikinis to be fair
06:56because there are lots on the beach near us. There are lots of schools here that sell them.
07:00What's your best memory in Thailand? This sounds so uncultured, but I really loved the water park.
07:06I like, there's a water park. Oh my God. The Grand Canyon water park. Yeah. In Chiang Mai they have a
07:12water park and it's like amazing. It's so much fun. Also, if you're in Pai, go to Nars Kitchen.
07:19It's literally the best Thai food we've ever had. Like it was 10 out of 10 amazing. That was amazing.
07:25Every time we're hungry, we're like, oh, I want Nars Kitchen. Yeah. It's so nice. Get the pad mama from Nars Kitchen.
07:31That was like the best meal. We ordered all this Thai food and then we just like split it between us
07:36and it was really good. I really liked the sticky waterfall in Chiang Mai. That was amazing.
07:41There's also like the artist village in Chiang Mai. Oh yeah, the artist village. Such a good memory.
07:47It's like we bought all this jewelry and stuff and it was like really nice. You can like make your own
07:51postcards there and everything. Yeah. And it was all like local people doing it, which was really nice.
07:56Thank you for your time. Thank you so much. It's nice to meet you. Nice to meet you too and have a nice trip.
08:01You too. Thank you. Hi, how are you doing? Good. Where are you from? We're from New Zealand.
08:08We're from Whangarei, which is north of Auckland. How long is your stay in Thailand? A month? Yeah.
08:14A month. And we just kind of extended yesterday another six weeks. We can't leave. You can't get us away.
08:22What's your impression of Thailand? I love it. Very, very cool. We're having so much fun.
08:28Yeah. Maybe possibly more than the north because love all the beaches and the islands. It's very cool.
08:33It's so chill and the party life is great and the culture is really cool and the food is amazing.
08:40Yeah. We just love everything about it. Yeah. No complaints whatsoever. Yeah, like a pad thai and
08:46the green curry. Green curry is my favorite. Yeah, that's exactly what we had for lunch. Yeah.
08:51We did a cooking class and we learned how to make mango sticky rice. So when we get home,
08:55we'll be making that all the time. What do you do for a living? Well, I quit my job to come traveling,
09:02but I was just working at a dairy, like a convenience store kind of thing. Yeah. And I also quit my job
09:10to come traveling. But I was a barista, so I worked in a cafe. You have freedom now. Yeah, I have freedom.
09:19You have nice necklaces. Yeah. Yeah, they're stacking up. Getting more and more. This one's actually
09:26a ponamu from New Zealand. So it's a New Zealand greenstone necklace and you can get different shapes
09:32that mean different things. What's your favorite place in Thailand so far? It's been Koh Tao. Yeah, I would have to
09:39say Koh Tao. And we did our diving course there as well. Which was absolutely amazing. Never been
09:45diving in my life and it was so, so cool. You are brave. It was very fun. I was honestly a little
09:51bit scared. It was scary to start with, but it was pretty awesome. Yeah, very enjoyable. What advice
09:57would you give to other travelers in Thailand? Go to Koh Tao. Go to Koh Tao. Don't plan too much. Yeah,
10:03don't like pre-book too many things. We stitched ourselves up by doing that. You want to be able to stay in
10:09the places you like and you want to be able to, yeah, go to the places that you hear about from
10:14other travelers. Yeah. Yeah. Don't plan anything basically. Just go with the flow. Yeah. That's all we're doing.
10:21Thank you for your time. That's all right. Have a nice trip. Thank you. Yeah, thank you. You too.
10:25Hello, how are you doing? I'm nice. Thank you. Where are you from? Russia. Privet. Privet. Всем привет.
10:33How long is your stay in Thailand? Now about one week, so yes. And tomorrow we will
10:41back again to Russia. This is last day. Where did you visit in Thailand so far? Elephant park and LA.
10:49About two or three times, so we really like. We fly to Phuket and then go to Krabi. What's your favorite place in
10:58Thailand? I really like Raleigh Island. It's perfect, so picturesque, yes. Why did you decide to come to
11:08Thailand? Just to relax, so because I have a weekend, yes, and I want to relax from work. What's your
11:16impression of Thailand? I like this country, so unusual for me after Russia, so different people,
11:23different locations, and the climate. First time it was difficult because of wet air and hot weather,
11:32but after some days, you used to do it normally, so food, food amazing. I like Thai cuisine, so yes.
11:41Pattai and green curry and that? Oh, yes. The favorite one is rice in pineapple, yes, and shrimps in any type of
11:51Yes. What do you do for a living? Advertisement, so I work with internet advertising, yes. Thank you for
11:59your time. Thank you. You're welcome. Yeah. Hi, how are you doing? We're very good, thank you. How are you?
12:06Yeah, good, thank you. Good. You're really kind. We're kind, thank you. Thank you. We try. Where are you from?
12:11We're from Oxford, England. In England. Oxford, yeah. Yeah, clever girls. What brought you to Thailand?
12:17Love. Just love. Love for Thailand. What brought you to Thailand, Tilly? I don't know. Beaches, swimming.
12:26She just wants to go out and party this one. She's crazy. Nice parties. Yeah, best partying island. I'm
12:33interviewing you now. Where's your favorite partying place you've been? Koh Tao Jungle Party. What's your favorite
12:40place in Thailand so far? In Thailand? Chiang Mai. I like Chiang Mai. Yeah. And I like Koh Tao. I haven't
12:46been to the south. This is my first place in the south. Because I came from Bangkok, but was in
12:52Cambodia for longer than her. Koh Tao was really nice. We did snorkeling, like swim with turtles.
12:58That was good. And the jungle party and Koh Samui was nice. That was really fun. But in the north,
13:04Chiang Mai was my favorite. We did some nice walks. Yeah. Yeah, we were hiking every day, all day. What advice
13:12would you give to other western travelers? Don't pack as much as you think you need. Because your bag
13:19will be huge. And just like try everything. Try everything. Smile. Just keep smiling. And you have a
13:27good time. Be polite. Be respectful. Don't just speak to other Brits. Yeah. Because they're boring. Like us. Avoid us.
13:41Thank you for your time. Thank you. It was lovely to meet you. And have a nice trip. And you. Enjoy yourself.
13:46How are you doing? I'm good. We started to travel like four weeks ago. We started in Bangkok,
13:55then like Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, Hippie islands. And now we are here. It's really nice. Nice. Yeah. You look
14:02very happy. Yeah. Yeah. First, I jumped on a corral. So we had to get stitches. And then I got really sick,
14:08but now I'm good again. You're fine now. Okay. You jumped. Jumped. Jumped in the water on a corral. We like action.
14:18Where are you from? I'm from Germany, Berlin. Guten Tag. Guten Tag.
14:24I like currywurst. Yeah, currywurst. Very nice. Very delicious. And so many nightclubs. Yeah,
14:30there are a lot of techno clubs in Berlin. Yeah. Do you like drinking beer? Yeah, a bit,
14:36but I'm like a runner. So I'm not drinking so much. You're very healthy. Food. I'm a lot of eating
14:44chocolate and everything, but drinks, I'm worried. Why did you decide to come to Thailand? Because we
14:51finished our bachelor university. And then we just wanted to travel and have a bit of fun. Yeah.
14:58What's your favorite place in Thailand so far? Koh Phangan, I think. And Koh Tao.
15:04Lots of parties in Koh Phangan. Yeah, we liked our hostel very much. It was very nice.
15:10Yes. Did you ride a motorcycle, motorbike? She always rides a motorbike and I'm the passenger princess.
15:21Yeah. You are a student. Yeah, we are finished now.
15:24Oh, yeah. And she's traveling one year and I'm just one like five weeks.
15:29What advice would you give to other travelers in Thailand? Bring a lot of sunscreen.
15:35We started like in Bangkok and traveled to Koh Tao first and then around here.
15:42But the most people we met travel the other way around. So if you want to
15:48go with a lot of people, travel the other way. And a bit earlier because now it's a bit rainy season.
15:55So every day we look at the weather and think, hmm, is it raining today? But it's nice.
16:01Thank you for your time. Thank you very much. Thank you. Thank you. Hi, how are you doing?
16:07I'm good. How are you? Good. Thank you. Where are you from? I'm from Ukraine.
16:12Privit. Privit.
16:15Yak Slava. Dobre. Okay.
16:19Where in Thailand are you visiting? I've already, during this trip,
16:23I've already been to Phuket and currently in Krabi. And also I'm going to visit Chiang Mai,
16:30Chiang Rai and my favorite city of Bangkok. I wish to live here.
16:35So now I'm like exploring everything, how life is going here.
16:40What do you like most about Thailand? It's hard to explain because the most I like
16:47my feeling here. Like I really feel as myself. It's a lifestyle. It's very easy, no rush,
16:56very calming. And also people, very nice people here and food, of course. I know you're from Japan.
17:03I never tried real Japan food, but for now Thai food is my favorite. I'm sorry for that.
17:11Tom yum pineapple rice. Oh my gosh. Papaya salad, my favorite.
17:19You are traveling to other countries as well. Yes, but I actually haven't seen many countries.
17:26A few countries in Europe, like Romania and Moldova, because it's close to Ukraine,
17:32Poland and Greece. But I really love Asia. So I'm always hoping to come to Asia anytime when it's
17:41possible. So yeah, during this trip, I also visited Malaysia and Hong Kong for the first time in my life.
17:49But still, I'm here in Thailand for one month because I really love it.
17:53What do you do for a living? I'm web designer, UI UX designer. Yeah, I'm doing websites.
17:59Yeah, you're very stylish, actually. Thanks. Yeah, and maybe you like pink.
18:06Why you think so? You're hot.
18:10You worked as a model as well before? Uh, before. Yeah, before COVID. Yeah, so I quitted like
18:18five years ago. Yeah, you stay fit. Thank you so much. What's your best memory in Thailand?
18:24I have so many memories from here and each is very warm. But maybe the best one is each sunset.
18:34Especially, I think it was my best sunset ever in life. One year ago when I came here to Bangkok and I
18:42had a really high condo and there was a rooftop on like 57th floor. Like, you're gonna imagine that.
18:53Yeah. So the sunset there was magical. Thank you for your time. Thank you so much.
18:59Thank you so much. Thank you so much. Thank you so much. Thank you so much.
19:07Hello, how are you doing? I'm doing great. Yeah. Where are you from? I'm from Finland. Do you like
19:12sauna? Yes, of course. How to say hello in Finnish? There's many ways to say hello, but usually I just
19:20say moikka. Moikka. Yeah, moikka. Moikka. Why did you decide to come to Thailand? I just want to see the world
19:27and go to places I've never been to before. What's your impression of Thailand? I really like it here.
19:33It's nice and warm, really different compared to Finland. So yeah, I would say it's a pretty nice place.
19:40What's your favorite place in Thailand so far? Definitely crappy. It's more peaceful here
19:47compared to Bangkok. I have been like only a couple days, so just laying here at the beach and chilling.
19:53You are very relaxed. Yes. What's your popular food in Finland? Oh, salmon soup and everything like
20:01related to reindeer, especially in the northern of Finland, but definitely like everything with fish.
20:07You are traveling to other countries as well. Yes, I'm going to Vietnam and then Japan and Korea.
20:13I'm traveling for two months. Have you faced any culture shock in Asia? I mean, yeah,
20:20because it's really different compared to Europe and Finland. Like they do many things quite
20:27differently here and like old-fashioned way. So thank you for time. Thank you. Have a nice trip.
20:35You too. Thank you. Hi, how are you doing? I'm very good. Thank you. How are you? Good. Thank you.
20:40Where are you from? I'm from Germany. Guten Tag. Guten Tag. Moin. Moin. How did you learn English?
20:46I learned English at school and I spent a couple of years in the UK as well. So that's probably where
20:53I got my accent from. Why did you decide to come to Thailand? One of my best friends did a semester abroad
20:59in Chiang Rai. So that's why I decided to come visit her and yeah, we did some backpacking together,
21:05which was good. Yeah, really like it. What's your favorite place in Thailand so far? I think I like Chiang Mai
21:11the best so far. Yeah, but I think all the places are really beautiful. All the like little islands
21:17and yeah, I really loved visiting them as well and the lovely beaches. But Chiang Mai was,
21:22I preferred the most. It is quite touristy here and so was Chiang Mai, but I loved the nature around
21:28as well and all the big national parks. So it was really interesting. What advice would you give to other
21:34travelers in Thailand? I don't know. Maybe also go to some like less touristy areas because again,
21:39my friend was at uni. So she left a like student accommodation. So I met loads of
21:44Thai people as well. So I think I would recommend going to some areas without so many tourists. So
21:50you can actually have a bit of an authentic experience and try the authentic Thai foods. So not
21:56like the big restaurants rather like the small litter ones. They're usually the best in my opinion.
22:02What do you do for them? I'm a physiotherapist. Yeah, so I've just finished uni now. So yeah,
22:09that's why I'm traveling now. Yeah, you look very healthy actually. Yeah, that's good I guess. Yeah.
22:16How much is the budget for the trip in Thailand? I mean the flights were quite expensive and I booked
22:21them really late. So I think I paid like a thousand four hundred euros for that. But then mostly
22:28so staying at hostels here isn't so expensive. The food isn't either. So I mean I haven't really
22:34calculated the total yet. But yeah, I guess you don't spend that much money on food here either. So
22:41I'm not quite sure. Thank you for your time. Oh, thank you so much. No problem.
22:45Yeah, thank you soon. Hello, how are you doing?
22:49Hello. Hello. We are walking on the beach. Where are you from? We are from Russia. From Moscow.
22:57Hello. Hello. How are you doing? Good. Great. Great. How long is your stay in Thailand?
23:08Why did you choose Thailand? Why did you choose Thailand? Why did you choose Thailand?
23:18Do you like Thai food?
23:25Yes, but not spicy.
23:27I love borscht.
23:31Do you like this beach?
23:36Yes, it's very beautiful.
23:39And beautiful mountains?
23:44We didn't see, unfortunately, monkeys, but we came to the beach to see them.
23:50But unfortunately, it's better.
23:54Thank you for the interview.
24:01Where are you from?
24:04Sweden.
24:05Hey, hey.
24:07How long is a stay in Thailand?
24:0936 days.
24:10So we've been here for three weeks now, and the day of tomorrow we're going up to Bangkok.
24:15Where have you visited so far?
24:17We've been to Koh Samoyi.
24:19Phuket, for Songkran.
24:21That was really fun.
24:22Hippie Island, and now here.
24:24What's your favorite place in Thailand so far?
24:26I think Koh Samoyi was really nice, and here are also great.
24:31I would say Koh Samoyi, but doing Songkran in Phuket was just so crazy.
24:36What's your impression of Thailand?
24:38I think it's great.
24:40Yeah.
24:41Very nice weather.
24:42Nice people.
24:43Nice beaches.
24:44Everyone is so friendly and helpful.
24:47Just being here for your first time, and being quite young and traveling together,
24:52I would say it's a really good place to start your first travel.
24:57Have you faced any culture shock in Thailand?
25:00Yeah.
25:01Well, I would say in Sweden we have a lot of different cultures, which is kind of special.
25:05So you get to have to deal with different religion and different people.
25:10So coming here, I would say it's like hard to describe because it's more of one culture.
25:16So I wouldn't say that we had any problems with it, nothing special.
25:21But it's great to learn about something new.
25:24What advice would you give to other travelers in Thailand?
25:27Just be brave.
25:28Ask for help if you need it, because you will get help because people are so nice.
25:32And just do what you want.
25:35Go on the trip.
25:36Believe in yourself and dare to do that.
25:38Try everything.
25:40Just do it.
25:41What's the worst thing that can happen?
25:43Yeah.
25:44Thank you for your time.
25:45Yeah, thank you.
25:46No problem.
25:48Hi, how are you doing?
25:49Good.
25:50I'm good.
25:51I'm on the beach.
25:52I'm good.
25:53Where are you from?
25:54I'm from Manchester, the UK.
25:55What's your favorite football team?
25:57Liverpool.
25:59Why Liverpool?
26:00My boyfriend supports Liverpool, so I support Liverpool.
26:03Okay, okay.
26:04How long is your stay in Thailand?
26:06I've been here for one week, and I'm here until the 7th of May.
26:09I'm gonna go to Koh Samui next.
26:11I actually came to Thailand 10 years ago, so not much has changed.
26:15It's still laid back and beautiful.
26:17I've come from Phuket, Krabi, and then I go to Koh Samui.
