A controversy has erupted after a video surfaced showing students of Mesco Public School in Amroha dancing on stage while wearing burqas and hijabs during a school carnival. The incident took place on December 29 during a carnival festival held at the school, located in the Naugawan Sadat police station area.
The viral video shows three boys dressed in burqas entering the stage and dancing to the song “FA9LA” from the film Dhurandhar. Soon after, several other boys climbed onto the stage and joined the performance, as students in the audience clapped and cheered.
Reacting strongly, Advocate and Muslim Committee leader Mansoor Ahmed termed the act “against Islamic values” and demanded strict action, including revocation of the school’s recognition.
Meanwhile, the school principal issued a written apology, calling the incident “unfortunate and unintentional.” She clarified that the act was not part of the official programme and was allegedly performed to entertain the audience. The school stated that such conduct does not reflect its values, discipline, or culture, and condemned the act, while apologising if sentiments were hurt.
Police have taken note of the viral video. Amroha Police, in a post on X, said the Naugawan Sadat station in-charge has been directed to take appropriate action in the matter.
