00:10This woman thinks it's unfair and he should be freed.
00:13This is the story of two women.
00:15That's Barkha Trehan, known publicly as the president of an organization called Purush
00:19Ayog, which describes itself as addressing issues facing men and contesting what it views
00:24as misuse of gender-based laws.
00:26Trehan has argued in the past that laws such as POCSO are frequently misused and are often
00:30politically motivated.
00:32In Sanger's case, Trehan argues that former BJP MLA had already suffered inner fears in
00:36custody.
00:39Given the conviction and the history of intimidation in the case, public support for Sanger triggered
00:44widespread confusion and anger online, with many questioning how a convicted rapist could
00:48still find offenders.
00:50But then there's Yogita Bhayana, who heads people against rape in India.
00:54Her organization has been instrumental in ensuring the Unao rape survivor doesn't have to fight
00:58alone.
00:59The Unao rape case dates back to 2017 when a minor girl accused then BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sanger
01:12of kidnapping and raping her in the Uttar Pradesh's Unao district.
01:15The survivor's father died in police custody after being arrested following an altercation
01:20with Sanger Supporters.
