Anchor Akshita Nandagopal reports on a crime in Tamil Nadu where four minors allegedly attacked a migrant worker, Suraj, with sickles to film a video for social media. The report covers the incident where the attackers filmed the assault and flashed victory signs. The program also details the political developments surrounding actor Vijay's entry into politics with his TVK party. This includes analysis of a social media post from Sri Lankan MP Namal Rajapaksa wishing the actor well, which a panel including Shekar Iyer and Dr. Sandeep Shastri discusses as a strategic move. Further segments cover the mobbing of Vijay at Chennai airport after the Malaysia audio launch of his final film, 'Jana Nayagan', and a debate over Tamil Nadu's state debt between Congress leader Praveen Chakravarty and the DMK. The broadcast also notes the death of Tripura student Angel Chakma in Dehradun.

00:00Hello and welcome. Good evening. You're watching Super 6 here on India Today.
00:04I'm Akshita Anandha Gopal. We've got lots lined up for you over the next one hour.
00:08We'll begin by giving you a quick glimpse of what to expect.
00:11We're going to be focusing first on the horrifying story that's come in from Tamil Nadu
00:16of another migrant being attacked and the footage is horrifying by itself.
00:23Nothing can justify this kind of hate.
00:25But four miners involved in this crime are now behind bars.
00:30But they're seen hacking this man, relentlessly shooting it and then releasing it as a reel.
00:36We're going to be getting you details of this crime, of who these monsters were
00:40and why they committed such a gruesome act.
00:43Also coming up on the show, while we speak of the Vijay phenomenon,
00:47we've seen that play out of the weekend with this mega audio launch that takes place in Malaysia.
00:51Interestingly, another big development was that Namal Rajpaksa spoke out,
00:56giving a thumbs up to Vijay.
00:58And it's got everyone wondering what's with this endorsement from Rajpaksa for TVK, for Vijay.
01:05He's even put the hashtag, Jaranayagan, which is Vijay's last film.
01:09We'll break down all of those details.
01:11Those two big stories are much more coming your way.
01:13Let's begin with the top 10 headlines.
01:15No relief for rapist Sengar.
01:20In the Unao case, the Supreme Court has stayed.
01:23The Delhi High Court order, Kuldeep Sengar, will remain in jail, will not walk free.
01:30Top Court's big ruling on Aravali case.
01:33Supreme Court has stayed its own order, defining the Aravalis by height.
01:36The top court has fired multiple questions to the centre, demanding the Environment Ministry to respond.
01:41Shock and anger continues to mount over the fatal assault of 24-year-old Angel Chakma from Tripura.
01:50Uttarakhand's chief minister speaks to the family of the victim.
01:52Rahul Gandhi slams this, calling it a hate crime.
01:58Hate season before pole season in Tamil Nadu.
02:00A migrant worker from Odisha has been brutally attacked by four miners.
02:04They used sickles to repeatedly hit him.
02:07He's now in a critical condition.
02:09After biggest fugitive's taunt with Vijay Malia, Lalit Modi has now apologised to the Indian government.
02:18He said the post was never meant to be taken in the way that it was portrayed.
02:22We wonder which other way it could have been taken.
02:26TVK chief Vijay was mobbed when he reached Chennai after the audio launch in Malaysia.
02:33And upon being mobbed, fell down.
02:36While he was entering, his vehicle supporters mobbed Vijay.
02:39He safely entered his car.
02:40Reportedly has no injuries.
02:42Sri Lankan MP Namal Rajpaksa has wished Talapati Vijay success in the new journey ahead,
02:48saying his energy and presence on the silver screen will be missed.
02:51Gearing up for the battle for Mumbai, Ajit Pawar-led NCPs announced that they will go solo in the upcoming BMC elections.
03:00This comes after Ajit Pawar's NCP and Sharad Pawar's NCP announced an alliance with each other for the municipal polls in Pune.
03:08Bangladesh Students Party joins Islamists.
03:11Fledgling NCP joins hands with Jamaat, posts as reformist, but ties up with radicals.
03:16Donald Trump hosts Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
03:24Both leaders struck an optimistic tone, saying a peace deal is closer than ever.
03:28They did, however, acknowledge several issues over territory and security guarantees.
03:35In a horrifying hate attack, a migrant was targeted again, this time in Tamil Nadu.
03:42A man from Odisha was attacked with sickles by four men.
03:45They're legally minors, but if they're capable of murder, of committing this kind of a crime, I'm sorry,
03:50but they're not minors and cannot be treated legally as minors either.
03:55The video is quite simply horrifying.
03:57We're not screening the full video as it is because it's extremely distressing.
04:02The victim, a 34-year-old, is now fighting for his life.
04:05But let me tell you why this crime happened.
04:08These sickening men with the weapons were in the same coach as the victim
04:12and were using the sickles to shoot reels.
04:15The victim, Suraj, who was in the same coach, objected, say,
04:18because they were placing it against his neck to shoot a video.
04:22So, obviously, he'd object.
04:24But when he did, they got offended.
04:25So, what did they do?
04:26They dragged him out of the train, shot a video of them, then attacking him.
04:32That's the video there.
04:33And they released it as a reel.
04:35This is where they're literally cracking his skull open.
04:38But they edited it.
04:39They actually put some Tamil background music.
04:42And one of these monsters then shows a victory sign after attacking him.
04:47The four boys, the four men in the video, have been arrested.
04:51Turns out they were drunk.
04:52The government has been swift in identifying these murderers and putting them behind bars.
04:56But imagine this.
04:57A man who objected to a bunch of youngsters threatening him with a sickle is attacked in this sickening manner.
05:04And I have to ask, how is it that these boys have no fear of the law?
05:08Has the hate against migrant workers become so ingrained, so normalized,
05:13that they think this kind of an attack is okay?
05:15And have we as a society normalized this regionalism, this discrimination so much
05:19that it's now leading to these kind of crimes?
05:22Attacked with a machete.
05:43Stabbed with a knife.
05:45Youth verbally abuse a migrant worker, who's seen begging for his life.
05:59These shocking images are from Thiruvallurda in Tamil Nadu.
06:03A migrant worker from Urisha identified as Suraj was targeted by a group of youth abused and mercilessly hit.
06:11Suraj was taken to a secluded spot by their silence.
06:16Attacked with sickles, machetes and left to glee.
06:24One of the attackers also flashed a victory sign after the assault.
06:31Suraj was first targeted while traveling on a train.
06:35The accused minors allegedly threatened him with machetes during the journey.
06:39Even as they recorded a video.
06:43What began as intimidation soon escalated into a violent assault.
06:48Suraj sustained severe injuries in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment at hospital.
06:55His condition is said to be critical.
06:57The police have now taken cognizance of the assault on migrant worker and begun a probe.
07:03The ruling DMK has vowed strictest action against the accused.
07:07All four minor accused have been detained and sent to a juvenile home in Chengalpattu.
07:13It's very horrific.
07:15The incident is very horrific.
07:18The investigation is going on.
07:20Whoever is behind this, I think they themselves have uploaded this video.
07:24They have taken this out.
07:25And what is the reason?
07:27What is the motive?
07:27I think the investigation will find out all these things.
07:29The Congress accused the DMK government of failing to maintain law and order in the state and called for strict policing.
07:38The BGB also hit out of the Stalin government over law and order in the state.
07:43The DMK has been ruining the state, you know, in terms of region, religion, caste and also the race and also the north-south divide everything.
07:57So, this is totally, we charge, we accuse the DMK and the government.
08:03This incident that's coming in from Tamil Nadu's territory is utterly shocking because the miners have confessed to have been intoxicated when this incident happened.
08:13Certainly has raised a lot of questions about drugs being rampant in the state of Tamil Nadu and little measure being taken up by the state government.
08:22With camera person Irfan and Agar Keshiv reporting for India Today from Chennai.
08:26And there's endless politics also over the migrant workers' attack.
08:37Now, EPS has lashed out at the DMK over this.
08:41You've got Edapadi Parani Swami saying this is utterly shameful and that those who, in fact, the hands that should be holding school books are now wielding machetes.
08:51That's the statement that's come in from the AIA-DMK.
08:54As they've called out this particular incident and highlighted the fact that these are minors who are involved in this particular crime.
09:02Now, EPS, in fact, is blaming the DMK saying that this is a result of lawlessness in the state.
09:10As we get to all of, in fact, those reactions at this point, we can tell you that EPS has also reacted saying that those who should be holding school books are now wielding machetes.
09:22EPS has therefore put the blame of the DMK government saying Tamil Nadu has been pushed into such a barbaric state.
09:29And so these are the reactions that are coming in.
09:31Remember that the four accused in this particular case, they've been taken into custody.
09:36The police have also confirmed that they were in an inebriated condition with politics playing out as expected considering we're months away from an election.
09:45Anagar Keshav is joining us live from Chennai with more details on this.
09:49Anagar, political reactions trickling in.
09:51What is the DMK government really saying about what transpired?
09:54In fact, most of the DMK ministers and leaders are at a Maghilaire event, a woman-related event that's happening.
10:07It's a party event that's happening near Tirupur.
10:10So all of them have gone to that.
10:11But what the DMK is of the view is that they are saying that action will be taken against the accused.
10:17This is what the DMK is saying and on the same lines, three accused have been sent into juvenile shelter home and one has been released.
10:27All four accused are minors.
10:30All of them are 17-year-olds.
10:31The victim is about 34-year-old.
10:33His name is Sura.
10:34She hails from Orissa.
10:36He was here for work, we believe.
10:38What happened on the train was that he resisted posing for the real where the concept was he would be assaulted by these four youngsters.
10:45But when he resisted, all the four accused, they took him to a nearby secluded area which is very close to Tirutani's railway quarters and then brutally thrashed him up.
10:55It's unbearable to even watch these videos.
10:58In fact, the accused have confessed in front of the police that they were intoxicated when the assault happened.
11:05Very, very shocking.
11:06All three of them have been sent to juvenile shelter home and one accused has been released.
11:11Alright, thanks Anika for those details.
11:15Let's move on now.
11:18As Tamil Nadu gears up for the 2026 elections, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's government is facing questions over the state's finances.
11:27And from within, you've got a Congress leader, Praveen Chakravarti, who's gone to social media and said that Tamil Nadu has the highest outstanding debt of all states.
11:37A claim that's been countered now by the DMK, a claim that's been countered by many of his own colleagues in the Tamil Nadu Congress.
11:44As Tamil Nadu gears up for the 2026 Assembly polls, the M.K. Stalin government is facing questions over state finances.
12:03That too from its allies.
12:04Congress leader, Praveen Chakravarti has triggered a major debate on state finances by claiming that Tamil Nadu has the highest debt among all states.
12:15He said that in 2010, Uttar Pradesh had more than double the debt of Tamil Nadu.
12:20But now, Tamil Nadu's interest burden is the third highest in the country.
12:24Praveen Chakravarti's post did not go down well with Tamil Nadu Congress leaders.
12:29Party MPs said that it was unfair to compare Tamil Nadu with Uttar Pradesh and argued that judging Tamil Nadu only by its absolute debt was like judging fitness solely by body weight.
12:42DMK also took a swipe at Praveen's post, calling the criticism an unwanted distraction.
12:50When the BJP makes these allegations and the ADMK makes these allegations, it's laughable, it's farcical.
12:56The most important aspect is how we have been sidelined, how we have been given an impartial treatment by the union government.
13:08The BJP hit out, claiming that Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's lies stand exposed.
13:15There is absolutely no doubt that a growing state will borrow more.
13:21That is not the problem.
13:22You may say GDP is more, that is everything, but what have you invested?
13:29And it is going to affect the Tamil Nadu and the next generation a long way.
13:36The political sparring is expected to continue as the state heads towards the assembly elections.
13:42But criticism from its own ally has come as an embarrassment for the DMK.
13:48With Anaga Kesha, Bureau Report, India Today.
13:52Now, after Congress's Praveen Chakravati called out the Tamil Nadu government, the DMK government, over rising debt,
14:05you've now got the Tamil Nadu Congress officially distensing themselves from the remark.
14:09The Tamil Nadu Congress chief has spoken out, saying that Praveen Chakravati doesn't speak for the party
14:16and that there are certain forces working for the BJP at Dabarana Rojas, a clear taunt at his own colleague at Praveen Chakravati.
14:23But the question that will be asked is, what stopped the Congress then from cracking the whip against the leader?
14:27The Congress is the same.
14:28The Congress is the same.
14:29Congress colaborates in the United States.
17:01to Vijay, came as a complete surprise
17:04and many raised eyebrows over what this actually means.
17:07Remember, Vijay's final film, Jananayagan,
17:09is set to release soon.
17:10And the message from an international political figure
17:12where he's essentially endorsing Vijay's film
17:15has sparked intense discussion among fans
17:17and on social media.
17:18Sri Lanka, of course, has traditionally been
17:20an extremely sensitive political subject in Tamil Nadu.
17:24And several Tamil Nadu leaders have repeatedly questioned
17:26Sri Lanka on issues ranging from fishermen's rights
17:28to territorial concerns.
17:30LTT being one of those.
17:33And this praise comes just when, you know,
17:35we're a few months away from Tamil Nadu elections.
17:38And so there will be questions about whether this also means
17:40a setback for Vijay.
17:43I want you to listen in to exactly what the TVK chief
17:46had actually said on the Sri Lankan government
17:48on Kachatibu a few months ago.
17:54Mr. Prime Minister,
17:55our Tamil Nadu
17:58Okay, let me open this up to kind of understand
18:07what this actually means.
18:22Shekhar Iyer, senior journalist, is with us on this broadcast.
18:25We have Dr. Sandeep Shastri, political analyst,
18:28and Ramakrishnan Rajagopal,
18:30who is a BJP leader, but joining us this evening
18:33in the capacity of a retired IAS former Home Secretary
18:36in Jailalita's government from 2011 to 2013.
18:40Good evening.
18:41Vanakam, gentlemen.
18:41Thank you all very much for your time.
18:43Mr. Rajagopal,
18:44you're the expert in the room.
18:46So, I'd like to begin with you
18:47on whether we've ever seen anything like this,
18:50this kind of an endorsement for a politician in Tamil Nadu
18:54from a Lankan politician.
18:57Well, maybe it's the first time.
18:59It was always there for MGR,
19:01but that was at a different time
19:02when we were actually supporting the Tamils in Sri Lanka.
19:06But now, I think any praise from the Sri Lankan side
19:11for Vijay is going to be a liability for Vijay
19:13because the Tamils are definitely agonized
19:17about the way the atrocities were committed
19:19on Sri Lankan Tamils in 2009.
19:24And I don't think this is going to help Vijay at all.
19:29See, Jailalita took a very clear stand
19:31against the Sri Lankan government's actions of 2009
19:35when she came to power in 2011.
19:38She maybe had taken a different stand in 2009,
19:41but when she came to power in 2011,
19:44she decided that she will take the side
19:47of the Tamils of Sri Lanka entirely.
19:50And I thought that was a pragmatic step
19:53because as the chief minister,
19:54she couldn't have taken a different stand.
19:57The atrocities had been committed
19:58and the atrocities were gruesome.
20:01And as the chief minister of Tamil Nadu,
20:04she had to speak up for the Tamils.
20:06It proved to be wise politically also
20:08because she won the 2014 Lok Sabha election hands down.
20:12The first time when the ADMK stood as a single party
20:16and won the elections without any support whatsoever.
20:20And she won 37 out of the 39 seats.
20:22So, I think politically speaking,
20:25what Jailalita did was the right one to do.
20:28And I can tell you that I was the architect
20:32of this policy at that time
20:33when I was with her
20:34because we discussed this quite a lot
20:37and we took a clear stand against Rajapaksha.
20:40Now, Rajapaksha's son praising Vijaya
20:43is not going to help Vijaya at all.
20:44You make a very, very important point there.
20:48So, Dr. Sandeep Shastri,
20:49what do you make of this post?
20:50You know, it came as a complete surprise.
20:53I think many people were completely taken aback
20:55that you had a Namal Rajapaksha
20:56putting out this kind of comment.
20:58Do you think that this was just a fanboy moment
21:01or is there a lot more than what meets the eye here?
21:05What we heard just now,
21:06I think is a very appropriate analysis
21:08of what has happened.
21:09What I would suggest is
21:13we have to put the current content
21:16which we are discussing in a wider context.
21:19Let's remember the maker of the comment
21:21and about whom the comment is made,
21:24both are not in government
21:26in their respective countries.
21:28That makes a lot of difference.
21:30Yes, this is an election year
21:32and in an election year,
21:34every political party
21:35will try to take advantage of the situation
21:38and as was just now said by Mr. Rajagopal,
21:42I don't think that this comment
21:46would in any way help
21:48Vijay's prospects in the election.
21:52Let's also concede it's a comment on his film
21:55and one need not therefore assume
21:58that a comment on a film
22:00would impact on elections.
22:02But then it's very, very clear
22:04that this comment will be used
22:08by those opposing him
22:10to indicate the type of support
22:12or the type of following
22:15that he has outside the country
22:18and that would be something very,
22:20which would be a little difficult
22:22and a little complicated
22:23to be able to defend for Vijay.
22:26You know, it is a very, very emotive issue
22:28in Tamil Nadu
22:29and that's something I'm sure Vijay
22:30is very mindful of.
22:31A lot of TVK members
22:33have been sharing the post largely,
22:35not perhaps understanding
22:36the repercussions
22:37of what such a post
22:38could actually mean
22:39for the TVK and for Vijay.
22:41Mr. Shekar Raya,
22:42your opening comments,
22:43do you think that this
22:43is actually a body blow for Vijay?
22:46The fact that you've got
22:47this endorsement
22:48from a Rajapaksha?
22:51Well, Lakshita, you know,
22:52this cannot be made an issue
22:53by the DMK
22:54because soon after the civil war
22:56ended in 2009,
22:58a delegation of DMK leaders
23:01went to Colombo,
23:03visited the relief camps
23:04and then called on
23:06Mahendra Rajapaksha,
23:08the father of Daman Rajapaksha,
23:09who was then the president.
23:11You know, at that time,
23:12the big controversy was
23:14that in the liquidation of LTT,
23:17did the DMK government play a part?
23:20Did the UPA government
23:21at the center look askance
23:23when the Sri Lankan security forces
23:25completely, you know,
23:27annihilated the LTT cadres?
23:29And apart from that,
23:30many innocent people
23:32were also killed.
23:33At that time,
23:34this became a big issue.
23:35So, Tamil Nadu issue
23:36is no longer current.
23:39And if they were to make
23:40this an issue,
23:41it would be a,
23:42it would again fire back on them
23:44because all the,
23:45their visit will come
23:46because the delegation that went,
23:48it included TR Balu,
23:49it included Kani Muli also.
23:51They even were seeing,
23:53felicitating Mahendra Rajapaksha.
23:55So, therefore,
23:56I don't think this itself
23:57will become an issue.
23:59Not a, you know,
24:00may not necessarily become
24:02a poll issue,
24:02but like Mr. Rajagopal said,
24:05it's not a good look for Vijay.
24:06You know, the fact that you have
24:07this kind of support coming in.
24:09But I also want to understand,
24:10Mr. Rajagopal,
24:11what do you think would have prompted
24:12an Amal Rajapaksha
24:13to take to social media,
24:15put out the statement?
24:16You know, as much as
24:16it's not a good look for Vijay,
24:18it doesn't really cater
24:19to his politics either
24:20in Sri Lanka.
24:23It could be both ways.
24:25Vijay's wife is from Sri Lanka.
24:27Maybe it was just
24:28an expression of goodwill.
24:30But it could also be looked at
24:32as something where,
24:33you know,
24:34the Rajapaksha's are looking
24:35for a kind of settlement
24:36with a Tamil government
24:39if Vijay happens to be
24:40anywhere there in the government
24:42after 2026.
24:44So, it could also be termed
24:45as a strategic move.
24:46So, I think
24:48if it's to be looked at
24:49as a strategic move,
24:50I think it's high time
24:51Vijay openly,
24:52you know,
24:53rebutted this
24:53and comes out clearly
24:55saying that
24:55I don't support
24:56the statement at all.
24:57Do you think
24:58it's an olive branch?
24:59It looks like it
25:01because Rajapaksha did extend
25:03an olive branch to Jailalitha
25:04and we rejected it.
25:07So, you're seeing
25:08something similar
25:09but I think the difference
25:10largely would be
25:11that Vijay is not in power.
25:13This is going to be,
25:14you know,
25:14his pole debut
25:15in a few months from now.
25:16So, it's interesting
25:17that Namal Rajapaksha
25:18has chosen to jump the gun
25:19and go ahead
25:20and extend the olive branch already.
25:22Dr. Sandeep Shastri,
25:23how do you,
25:25should Vijay really
25:25attempt damage control now?
25:27You know,
25:27it's not in his hands
25:28who comes out
25:29and wishes him well.
25:30It's not in his hands
25:31who puts out posts
25:32endorsing him.
25:33But in such a situation,
25:35this isn't something
25:36that's going to,
25:36you know,
25:37work out in his favour.
25:38So, how do you think
25:39he should actually
25:39be addressing this?
25:41Akshita, two points.
25:43One,
25:44what has happened
25:45in the past
25:46on these matters
25:47need not really be
25:49a mirror
25:50on what is likely
25:51to happen this time
25:52because
25:52today's political context
25:54is very,
25:56very different
25:57both in terms
25:58of Tamil Nadu
25:58and in terms
25:59of India's
26:00global reach
26:02and its reach out
26:02to its neighbours.
26:03So, I would make
26:04that preliminary comment.
26:06What should Vijay do
26:07at this stage?
26:08I think
26:08I think we've lost
26:13that connection
26:13with Dr. Shastri.
26:14I'll go back to him
26:15once we're able
26:16to re-establish
26:17that link.
26:17What I will add here,
26:18however,
26:19is that yes,
26:20politics may be different,
26:21Mr. Shekhar Raya.
26:22The politics of Tamil Nadu
26:23and Sri Lanka
26:24may be very different
26:25from what it was,
26:26let's say,
26:27you know,
26:27five to ten years ago,
26:28even.
26:28But the situation
26:30is still the same
26:30with regards
26:31to the emotions
26:32involved with
26:33ILAM,
26:33with emotions
26:34with regards
26:36to the LTTE
26:36or with Sri Lanka.
26:38So, in that aspect
26:39and when you look
26:40at it from that
26:41particular aspect,
26:42you know,
26:42perhaps the best strategy
26:44for Vijay right now
26:45would be come out,
26:46clarify,
26:47speak out
26:47whether he accepts
26:49this kind of endorsement.
26:53No, well,
26:54that would be
26:55what I would say
26:56a prudent approach.
26:58But we must
26:59understand one thing.
27:00There is only one leader
27:01who can benefit
27:02from this,
27:03who can make
27:04an issue out of it.
27:05That is Seeman.
27:07Namta Kamriya Karchi
27:11leader Seeman,
27:12he is the only man
27:13because he has been
27:14consistently,
27:15you know,
27:16talking about
27:17the atrocities
27:17committed on Tamils
27:18under the Dravidian
27:20party rule.
27:20He is the only one
27:21who can make out.
27:22And one more thing,
27:23Akshita,
27:23this is not so much
27:24about Mahindar Rajapaksha
27:26looking about relation
27:28between India
27:29and Sri Lanka
27:30and then,
27:31no, no, no.
27:31This is purely
27:32business interest.
27:33Rajapaksha family
27:34is heavily invested
27:35in films,
27:36in the film industry.
27:38And I would not
27:38be surprised
27:39if they have investments
27:40in film industry
27:41in Tamil Nadu
27:42also promoting
27:43some films.
27:44This is more
27:44of a personal friendship
27:46guided by business interest.
27:48That is the reason
27:48it has happened.
27:49Though it does not
27:50agree well for Vijay
27:51at this juncture,
27:52but then as I told you,
27:54DNK leaders
27:55have been guests
27:59at Rajapaksha's place
28:00at the height
28:00of soon after the war.
28:02So they can't
28:03make a big deal
28:04out of this.
28:05No, but you know,
28:05you look at it
28:06from one aspect
28:06which is that
28:07Namal Rajapaksha,
28:08I'll read out
28:08what he said.
28:09He says,
28:10Talapati Vijay
28:10has always been
28:11one of my favorite
28:11performers.
28:12Fine, maybe that's
28:13his personal preference.
28:14He says his journey
28:14in cinema and the energy
28:15he brought to the
28:16silver screen
28:17are truly special
28:18and unforgettable.
28:19As he closes
28:20this chapter
28:20and steps into
28:21a new journey,
28:22cinema will definitely
28:23miss his presence
28:24and vibrancy,
28:25wishing him
28:25nothing but success
28:26and the very best
28:27in everything
28:27that lies ahead.
28:29So, you know,
28:29it transcends
28:29beyond cinema here.
28:30He's making a reference
28:31to the fact that
28:32Vijay is also
28:33entering politics
28:34which is dangerous
28:34territory for Vijay
28:36if Rajapaksha
28:37is actually referring
28:38to the fact
28:38that he's entering
28:39politics.
28:39Dr. Shastri,
28:40we lost your
28:41connection earlier
28:41but just to the
28:42point you were making
28:43about how politics
28:44in Tamil Nadu
28:44and Sri Lanka
28:45is very different.
28:46Yes, it's different,
28:47sir, from
28:48five to ten years ago
28:49but I think the emotions
28:50still are very raw
28:52on this issue.
28:52Beyond a shadow
28:55of doubt,
28:55Akshita.
28:56And to respond
28:57to your other question
28:58you raised,
28:59if Vijay were to
29:00control whatever
29:02possible damage
29:03could come from this,
29:04I think he should
29:05encourage his supporters
29:06not to make it
29:07a major social media issue.
29:08he will have to handle
29:10this very carefully
29:11as part of his campaign
29:13because fan following
29:15on the one hand
29:16and political support
29:18on the other,
29:19there is a very,
29:20very thin line
29:21of distinction
29:22between the two
29:23especially in
29:24Tamil Nadu politics.
29:25So while it may be
29:26a fan supporting
29:27his favorite actor,
29:30people will not
29:31look at it only
29:32that way
29:32especially when
29:33that actor has
29:34got into public life.
29:35So this distinction
29:36between films
29:37and politics
29:39especially in Tamil Nadu
29:40I personally believe
29:41does not hold good.
29:42Your final comments
29:43Mr. Rajagopala
29:44what we are seeing
29:45right now,
29:46you know,
29:46if this was
29:47any other
29:47Sri Lankan politician
29:48perhaps may not
29:49have triggered
29:49as much buzz.
29:50The fact that
29:51it's a Rajapaksha
29:52is perhaps
29:52what's made
29:53this headlines
29:54because we know
29:55the kind of relationship
29:56that's been
29:57existent between
29:58Tamil Nadu politicians
29:59and this family.
29:59Yeah, there are
30:02a few names
30:02in Tamil Nadu
30:03which are
30:04abhorred.
30:05One name is
30:06Polakeshi
30:07and the other
30:08is Rajapaksha.
30:09So, I mean,
30:10I don't think
30:11anybody connected
30:11with the Rajapaksha
30:12family would be
30:13welcome in Tamil Nadu.
30:15And I think
30:15we are looking
30:17at a situation
30:18when closer
30:19to the elections
30:20politically
30:21it is the ADMK
30:22which will benefit
30:22from this statement
30:23because the ADMK
30:25took the right stand.
30:27The DMK
30:27and Congress
30:28were very much
30:29in power
30:30when all these
30:30atrocities took place
30:32and, well,
30:34maybe Seaman
30:35can also
30:36get some
30:37brownie points
30:38earn some brownie points
30:39here.
30:40But overall,
30:41I think
30:41it's something
30:43it's a political
30:44advantage for the ADMK
30:45and a disadvantage
30:46for Vijay.
30:48Okay.
30:48Mr. Rajagopal,
30:49Dr. Sandeep Shastra,
30:50Mr. Shekarayar,
30:51thank you very much
30:52for joining us
30:53with your views
30:53on this.
30:55Whatever's said and done,
30:55the fact that TVK
30:56is sharing that widely
30:58considering it
30:59an endorsement,
31:01that most definitely
31:01is going to backfire
31:02considering this is
31:03Rajapak Shah
31:04who's coming out
31:04to back Vijay.
31:06Absolutely bizarre.
31:11After a mega show
31:13in Malaysia,
31:14perhaps his last,
31:15Vijay touched down
31:16in Chennai
31:16to more than
31:17a rousing welcome.
31:18It was pure chaos.
31:20At the airport,
31:21Vijay was mobbed.
31:22He fell down,
31:23tripped amid the chaos
31:24and there was barely
31:25enough space
31:26for him to even
31:27get back on his feet.
31:28And it's again
31:29put the focus
31:29on the rampant
31:30mob culture
31:31in the country
31:32because this is
31:32the third such incident
31:34of stars being hounded
31:36where they have
31:36nowhere to go,
31:38nowhere to escape.
31:39These repeated incidents
31:40of actors being mobbed,
31:42grabbed,
31:43shoved,
31:43physically overwhelmed
31:44by fans
31:45should outrage anyone
31:46who believes
31:46in basic human dignity.
31:48Admiration does not
31:50grant ownership,
31:51fame is most definitely
31:52not an invite
31:53to invade someone's
31:54body or personal space.
31:56It's happened today
31:57to Vijay,
31:58previously to actor
31:59Nidhi Agarwal,
32:00to Samantha too
32:01and through it
32:02all these actors
32:03maintained their calm
32:03but why should they?
32:05A single actor
32:06surrounded by dozens
32:07in some cases
32:08hundreds of fans
32:09and they crazed.
32:11If they ever push back,
32:12if they ever defend themselves,
32:13they're framed as arrogant,
32:15they're referred to
32:17as not having gratitude.
32:19So there's a mindset
32:19in India
32:20that because these are stars,
32:21they're public property
32:23and so this kind of mobbing
32:24is normalized,
32:26very often
32:26even romanticized.
32:28But look for a moment
32:29at how much
32:30Vijay is struggling there
32:31to be able to even
32:32stand in one place,
32:34to be able to get safely
32:35to his car.
32:37Fortunately,
32:38Vijay was unheard
32:39despite falling face down
32:40courtesy the shoving
32:42by the crowd there.
32:45I'll also contrast that
32:47to what happened
32:48in Malaysia
32:48where lakhs of fans
32:50came together
32:50but it was completely
32:52smooth,
32:52well-managed,
32:53everyone had come together
32:54for this mega event,
32:56a talapati frenzy.
32:58Vijay launched the audio
32:59of his last film,
33:00Jananayagan,
33:01in Malaysia
33:01on Saturday.
33:02It was attended
33:03by thousands of fans.
33:05It was a trip down
33:06memory lane
33:06in a sense
33:07with some of his biggest hits
33:08being dished out.
33:10Vijay also gave
33:11a rather emotional speech.
33:12Here are those highlights.
33:13If you think this was in India,
33:32then you are completely wrong.
33:38The talapati craze
33:40was evident in Malaysia.
33:46Jananayagan's audio launch event,
33:48also referred to
33:49as Talapati Tiroviza,
33:51entered Malaysian book
33:52of records
33:53for highest number
33:54of attendees.
34:00Reports suggest
34:01that over one lakh people
34:03gathered to get
34:03a glimpse of Vijay.
34:05Videos of Vijay
34:09making a grand entry
34:10on stage
34:11amid thundering cheers
34:12and fireworks
34:13went viral
34:14on social media.
34:22Some call Vijay
34:24the biggest crowd puller
34:25in the world.
34:27These people
34:28have arrived here
34:29to give a farewell
34:30to Talapati Vijay.
34:33Jananayagan,
34:33which is releasing
34:34on the 9th of January,
34:36is believed to be
34:36Vijay's last film
34:37as he wants to focus
34:39on his political career.
34:40She's not done for the
35:10Thank you very much.
35:40I love you too.
35:42That's why I like this.
35:45I love you too.
35:47I love you too.
35:51I love you too.
35:57I love you too.
36:01I love you too.
36:07While praising Vijay's work ethics, director Attlee added that Talapati is an emotion to the people.
36:23Soon after this, Attlee ran towards Vijay and hugged him.
36:41Composer Anirudh Ravi Chandra also performed a few songs from Vijay's films and the crowd went wild.
37:11In another clip, Vijay's mother, singer Shova Chandrasekar, also gave a surprise performance.
37:22Alongside Vijay, Attlee and Anirudh, actor Pooja Hegade, Priyamani, lyricist Vivek, Shobi Master and Shekhar Master also attended the event.
37:42A day ago, the moment Talapati Vijay landed in Kuala Lumpur, it wasn't an arrival. It was a celebration.
38:01The frenzy followed him all the way to the hotel.
38:12Vijay's last film, Jananayagan, is slated for a worldwide release on the 9th of January, perfectly timed with the Pongal Weekend, when celebrations move from homes to cinema halls.
38:33Bureau Report, India Today.
38:42Let's get to your reaction coming in from the Karnataka government over the bulldozer politics that's playing out in Bengaluru.
38:53Remember that Kerala Chief Minister Pinerai Vijayan had called out the Karnataka government over a demolition drive in Bengaluru,
39:01where he'd said, in fact, that the normalization of bulldozer raj is being practiced by the Karnataka government.
39:07D.K. Shivkumar has responded, saying that this is cheap politics being played by the Kerala Chief Minister in lieu of the upcoming elections in Kerala.
39:16Listen in to what the Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister said.
39:19Kerala CM is doing politics.
39:21His election is in a time of losing his election.
39:26He's trying to do politics.
39:27We don't want to involve him.
39:29I'm requesting him.
39:31You should be aware of this.
39:32This is a local issue.
39:33We have to safeguard the interest of the health hazard.
39:36We don't want illegal people to occupy in a government property.
39:41That is why there is a lot of you and cry in this one.
39:44We don't want to create slums in Bangalore.
39:46This is a city with a lot of this one.
39:48Like, I don't want to comment on other cities.
39:50But it is our duty to protect the government properties.
39:53We are doing it.
39:54If anyone has been affected, if they don't have houses, we have an opportunity.
39:58We have a provision to give them houses.
40:01Definitely we'll help all of them.
40:02Of course, of course, we have given a, we have got a representation.
40:07We have got allegations.
40:08Some of them have collected 1 lakh, 2 lakh rupees to put here this one.
40:13A lot of women have said.
40:14A lot of people also have communicated to me.
40:16They have given some agreement as if they are the owners.
40:19We have collected.
40:20We definitely will take action against all those.
40:22So, what is the interest of Kerala in Karnataka is Kogilusa?
40:27We don't want any Keralites.
40:29Our Chief Minister, let him do his job.
40:32We will do our job.
40:33That's absolutely true.
40:52In fact, DK Shukumar has hit out after Kerala Chief Minister saying, this is the local issue
40:56within the Karnataka state and Karnataka state government will deal with it and Kerala
40:59government has no role to play with it.
41:01So, in fact, Pinaray Vijayan is using this for his local elections is what DK Shukumar said.
41:07But however, the opposition BJP has been attacking the government saying, this Chief Minister
41:11and Deputy Chief Minister are puppets in the hand of the High Command after KC Venagopal
41:14had tweeted that he had spoken to both these leaders to handle the situation very carefully.
41:18And today, Shukumar also visited, but however, the Congress government has defended saying
41:23that with good intention is why KC Venagopal spoke to both leaders.
41:28It's not instructions, but suggestions given by the senior leaders in the Congress party
41:32about how to go with people who are from the marginalized communities and economically
41:36backward communities to ensure that their interests are taken care.
41:41With all of those details, big political fight that's broken out or is not just resonating
41:46in Karnataka, but in Kerala as well.
41:49Let's get to the latest updates this evening also on the Tamil Nadu Deepam controversy,
41:54which has been playing out in Madurai, going across the country.
41:57Remember that the DMK threw impeachment charges against a Madras High Court judge,
42:01Justice J.R. Swaminathan, who passed that order for the lamp to be lit at the Deepatun.
42:06And we're getting you now the first reaction that's come in from the judge,
42:09where he said he was excited initially that there would be this Deepam being lit,
42:15but that it did not happen.
42:17And so he says he's still hopeful it will take place sometime.
42:21Remember that this entire controversy had erupted over the Kartikai Deepam festival,
42:25which is the festival of lighting lamps across Tamil Nadu.
42:28An order was passed by Justice J.R. Swaminathan to ensure that at the Deepatun pillar,
42:33which is very close to a Darga, in the Tiruparakundram hill in Madurai,
42:38the lamp to be lit didn't happen.
42:41Let's get you all of those reactions.
43:03See, the judicial restatement of values,
43:12which was adopted by the Supreme Court in 1997,
43:18clearly states that judges shall maintain aloofness,
43:23which is commensurate with the dignity of their office.
43:27And again, yet another value states that judges will not speak on issues in a public forum
43:37on which they have determined or which may arise for future determination.
43:43It will be improper for a judge to speak about such issues in a public forum.
43:49I saw that video and audio.
43:53So he was referring about an incident that happened in that stage.
43:56I don't know why you people are so enthusiastic to talk about these things.
44:02So whatever happened in the stage, he has spoken. Simple.
44:07That's all we have time for on this edition of Super 6.
44:10Thanks very much for tuning in.
44:11Remember, this week we will mark the end of 2025.
44:15And as we wrap up this broadcast, I'm leaving you with a report
44:18on how prominent destinations across India are seeing a huge influx of tourists.
44:23So if you're yet to plan your end-of-the-year vacation,
44:26I'd suggest stay at home.
44:28Here's why.
44:28India is set to ring in 2026 with celebration and cheer.
44:49From the snow-clad peaks of the north to the sun-kissed coast and plateaus of the south,
44:59tourists are pouring into popular winter destinations in large numbers.
45:06In Gulmark, fresh snowfall has transformed the valley into a winter wonderland,
45:12drawing tourists who are eager to soak in the magic of snow and scenic beauty.
45:19The valley has not seen, it has not been a great 2025 for Kashmir tourism
45:31for obvious reasons, incidents that happened and shattered the tourism season.
45:35So the last hope of the tourism industry was snowfall.
45:39It has snowed considerably.
45:41As you can see, there's a wide blanket of snow everywhere,
45:46giving it an absolutely mesmerizing look.
45:49Goa is buzzing with festive energy as thousands of tourists arrive to celebrate the new year.
46:05With packed beaches and vibrant nightlife, authorities are on high alert,
46:10urging visitors to party responsibly.
46:13In the east, the Darjeeling hills are offering postcard perfect views.
46:37Mountain lovers and foreign tourists are enjoying the crisp weather
46:44and breathtaking glimpses of the majestic Kanchanjunga.
