00:01After a mega show in Malaysia, perhaps his last, Vijay touched down in Chennai to more than a rousing welcome.
00:07It was pure chaos. At the airport, Vijay was mobbed. He fell down, tripped amid the chaos and there was barely enough space for him to even get back on his feet.
00:17And it's again put the focus on the rampant mob culture in the country because this is the third such incident of stars being hounded where they have nowhere to go, nowhere to escape.
00:28These repeated incidents of actors being mobbed, grabbed, shoved, physically overwhelmed by fans should outrage anyone who believes in basic human dignity.
00:37Admiration does not grant ownership. Fame is most definitely not an invite to invade someone's body or personal space.
00:45It's happened today to Vijay, previously to actor Nidhi Agarwal, to Samantha too.
00:50And through it all these actors maintain their calm, but why should they?
00:53A single actor surrounded by dozens, in some cases hundreds of fans, and they're crazed.
01:00If they ever push back, if they ever defend themselves, they're framed as arrogant, they're referred to as not having gratitude.
01:08So there's a mindset in India that because these are stars, they're public property.
01:12And so this kind of mobbing is normalized, very often even romanticized.
01:17But look for a moment at how much Vijay is struggling there, to be able to even stand in one place, to be able to get safely to his car.
01:26Fortunately, Vijay was unheard, despite falling face down, courtesy the shoving by the crowd there.
