00:00The worst feeling in life to have is that you said you were going to do something and you
00:11believed it was the thing you wanted and then you didn't really try and then afterwards you
00:17have that feeling of regret like what would my life would have been like if I tried to do that
00:21I've put myself through some like real serious physical tests and one of the things that you
00:32learn there is that your body's just capable of way more than what you think or anybody else thinks
00:37it's capable of doing but one other thing that you learn in gambling is that like there's certain
00:43things that sound like a good bet that just aren't I got into poker primarily because I loved games
00:53throughout my childhood whether it was card games or video games especially games that involved
00:59strategic thinking and planning was kind of hooked from the beginning because it's you know I could
01:03go to the casino and make money playing a game I'm sorry Phil I have the nuts I call he makes the call
01:09the most athletic I can ever got was my sophomore year I really was practicing and trying to make
01:17the basketball team and I was one of the last two kids that got cut so I was like I was like okay
01:23but no like was I athletic no pretty average
01:26I met Dan I think in like a poker game in Las Vegas it was hard to miss Dan
01:39because even back then you know before the fame and the millions of Instagram followers Dan was a
01:45huge loudmouth brash guy and you kind of don't think of a fool talking about a bunch of crazy
01:51stories with women and drugs and whatever that's probably not a guy who's going to be playing good
01:55poker but I learned pretty quick that Dan was actually a better poker player than it seemed
02:00I think the bet went down a little bit like this Dan was hanging out with Bill Perkins
02:06I wasn't there and they made this biking bet Dan's bet was he had to bike the Vegas sign to his house
02:14in Beverly Hills he had 48 hours to do it and Dan did it in like just over 30 hours totally crushed it
02:22I know that there was some controversy surrounding his bet because he ended up drafting behind a vehicle
02:28for a decent stretch of it so yeah so what happened is I told Dan I could have done it man I'm telling
02:36you I would have done it and Dan's like oh you and my brother you guys all think it's so fucking easy
02:41and then like he started throwing a bet out at me but obviously Dan he was changing it quite a bit
02:47Dan had an arsenal of bikes recumbent bike or road bike or whatever
02:52I had just a road bike significantly harder Dan could draft which does matter quite a bit
02:59turns out there's a headwind which sucks Dan had somewhere between like four and six weeks
03:06to train I had like 30 hours to leave by
03:09Rass thinks he can bike it there's no way no way and he talks to his trainer and the biking
03:16professional is like there's no way he can do it no way he has zero percent chance not one percent
03:21zero percent chance doing it the winds across the desert and I'm like okay I'll bet he can't do
03:26it the bike coach was like man you need to try to get out of this he's not a cyclist if he does this
03:32it'll be a super human feat I called up Dan and tried to get a buyout I would have bought out for like
03:38five maybe like ten thousand and they were like no one of the last things Nate told me is well you
03:43might as well give it a college try because like he just literally told me I had no chance so yeah I
03:48was I was super nervous about it at this point
03:50first leg went smoother than I thought it would biking out of Las Vegas I was making good time I
04:05was feeling good he actually fell uh like when he started he fell and we were like oh my god he's
04:12never gonna make it it was going smooth I felt like I was biking strong I got down to the border
04:17which is right before you kind of start going up towards Mountain Pass which is the biggest climb
04:22of the whole journey Ras plows through this steep hill and he keeps going he keeps going and I'm
04:28like I don't like our bet that was a great moment top of Mountain Pass I was like super charged up
04:34super happy I'm like I got this
04:36as the headwind got stronger the pace we were going at was getting glacial I started having to take breaks
04:51more frequently my ass was super sore my legs just like jello I was not making the kind of time where
05:01it was like I was gonna be able to finish right so I wasn't in a good mood there was a moment where I
05:09went in the RV to take a break at one point and maybe I was like a little bit snappy you know my wife was
05:15like kind of snap back at me a little bit for for being snappy and I just kind of like broke down crying he
05:23can't go anymore his legs are seizing his prostate is swollen he can't pee he has to stop and walk and
05:30he lays down we figure oh we won we're counting the money we're about to spend the money
05:34I was giving it everything I had I just wasn't sure I was going to be able to do it
05:41it wasn't going to be because I wasn't going to try that was for sure but you know just because you try
05:48hard in life doesn't always mean that you can get it done sure enough he lays down for like an hour and
05:55a half maybe maybe two hours gets up and starts plowing again and I'm like we are dead I had mental
06:07moments where I was literally telling myself that I was never getting off this bike I would have to fall
06:13off the bike and like break legs for me to stop going on this trip I turned to Dan I was like you
06:18can have all my action if you want he's like really when I was biking down through the canyon I started
06:25to have a really big problem with my left knee Antonio who made a big bet on me himself found a
06:31doctor who actually met on the side of the road and just gave me a cortisone injection in my ass and I
06:37kept going at this point I had a decent amount of drugs inside me caffeine from the coffee or Adderall
06:44or Percocet at some point in LA between the heat and the exhaustion and probably whatever cocktail I
06:54basically had some weird overheating moment that kind of like turned into a panic attack that slowed
07:01me down quite a bit I needed like 30 45 minutes off my wife who had already been on her way to Dan's
07:07house in the RV because like basically they were expecting me to show up rode back and I was just
07:11sitting waiting on the side of the road my wife has had panic attacks before and she was able to
07:17kind of like talk me through it those last 20 miles I knew I was close and my mind mentally was starting
07:24to let my body break down a little bit or something but the very last part literally the last like five
07:29miles before Dan's he lives in like Beverly Hills so there were some crazy hills Dan drove down and tried
07:36to talk me into some kind of last-minute buyout oh man I know you're tired and fucked up it could be
07:42over now you still might not make it I was in some weird state of mind too I just need to just push a
07:48little farther just make it to the goal so Dan coming down there and processing that and just being
07:53like buyout like there's just like no way there are some things in life which happen over a very long
08:21period of time and so I don't want to compare that to something like this like the amount of effort
08:25I put into my job or into a marriage or like raising a kid but in terms of like I'm doing this for the
08:32next day or two you know I'm putting myself through the grinder on it no this was like by far bar none the
08:38hardest thing I've ever put myself through it's a weird thing like after I did this experience for the
08:46next couple weeks I was super sensitive and with like raw emotions like all the time like if I would
08:52watch like anything remotely sensitive like with my wife like a movie I'd be crying I was just ready
08:59to to just like connect and emote which was cool in a way but it's different it's like a different
09:04experience how much money did you win on the bet with Dan I won 600 minus minus expenses $600,000 yes yeah
09:34you
