00:19Today I'll be using all my skills house hunting with Paul and his daughter Holly,
00:23helping them find the dream holiday home for Paul and his partner Sue and he's keen to find lots of
00:29space.
00:30This feels a bit enclosed.

00:36But not for him, for other people.
00:39This is a great space for entertainment because we do like to socialise and entertain.
00:43Oh you've only mentioned that once or twice.
00:46I find my place at a luxury pad.

00:54But at the end of the day, do I find my house hunters their perfect place in the sun?

01:09Retired couple Sue and Paul went on their first date together just three years ago and they've been inseparable ever
01:16since.
01:17Now they've decided to take the plunge and buy their first property together right here in southern Spain.
01:24Paul was a data analyst while Sue worked in accounting.
01:28They met online, both live in Manchester and as well as Paul's daughter Holly have three more children between them
01:34and six grandchildren.
01:35Everybody's been very happy for us both.
01:38Yeah absolutely.
01:39I've been widowed twice so to find someone to love again is absolutely wonderful and we've found each other at
01:46the right time of life I think.
01:47We've still got plenty of time to enjoy our golden years together.
01:51Exactly golden years being the operative word.
01:55With that seize the day attitude they want to focus this search around the stunning coastal town of La Dekesa
02:01at the southern end of the Costa del Sol and have a budget of £180,000.
02:10La Dekesa is just over an hour's drive south west of Malaga Airport also known as the gateway to the
02:16Costa del Sol.
02:18Lots of airlines fly here directly from across the UK taking around two and a half hours.
02:27At this quieter end of the Sunshine Coast, La Dekesa remains fairly peaceful and traditional with its beaches, promenade and
02:35of course stunning marina which everything is focused around.
02:41Away from La Dekesa itself there are a number of towns, villages and resorts on the coast like La Chiera
02:47and Playa Pariso as well as set back a little inland Manilva Pueblo.
02:55The Costa del Sol has some of the most expensive properties in the whole of mainland Spain with some homes
03:01selling for over £30 million.
03:04But if you're saving your millions for something else then La Dekesa offers great value for money.
03:10Two bedroom apartments close to the shops with access to a communal pool can start from around £155,000.
03:18So I should have some great options for Sue and Paul.
03:21But before we can start checking them out, I need to nail the brief.
03:25So we're meeting up for a chat on one of the beaches that framed the marina.

08:02It's been on the market for two weeks, though, and because of the location, the agents believe
08:06it will go fast.

08:30While this is a fairly big complex, it means you get access to all the pools and facilities,
08:36with the beach right on your doorstep and the marina not far away.
08:40The apartment itself has a balcony that does look onto a busy road, but has been glazed,
08:45so it's pretty usable.
08:48Inside, there's a living dining room, a separate kitchen, and a utility space.
08:53The main bedroom has its own small balcony that's been glazed, and an ensuite bathroom.
08:59The second bedroom is a great size, and there's a shower room.

10:32This Ladikessa apartment with two bedrooms will be staying on the market for now at just
10:37over £176,000.
10:42While the idea of being right in Ladikessa might have to be put on the back burner for
10:47a while, there are some amazing locations within easy reach to rival it.
10:52The first of them I want to try is Las Colinas.
10:55Still only a five minute drive or 25 minute walk from the marina.
10:59Before we see the property, I've lined up a chat with a chap called Phil, who's had a
11:03place out here for quite some time.
11:05What made you relocate out to Spain?
11:07Well, we had a holiday apartment, first of all, from 2008.
11:11And then in 2016, we decided to live here permanently.
11:15And so we're now living the dream in the sunshine.
11:18Fantastic.
11:19Is there golf here?
11:20Yes, there is.
11:21I'm captain of Ladikessa Golf Club at the moment.
11:24Ooh, very good.
11:25And we have competitions every month.
11:27So, and we're very welcome to come and join us anytime you like.

11:32What's it like for families here?
11:33Oh, it's excellent for families.
11:35You've got the beaches for a start and also you have the play areas.
11:38There's water parks you can go to.
11:40There's animal parks to go to.

11:43So there's an awful lot of things very, very close to you, which you can go with a family.

12:23Today, I'm on Spain's glorious Costa del Sol, house hunting in and around La Ducasa, helping Paul and Sue find
12:31their dream holiday home.
12:32With Sue unable to join him, Paul's daughter Holly has come along to help him with the search.
12:37But so far, it's not so good.
12:40As my first place, this apartment right in La Ducasa and a short walk from its wonderful marina was simply
12:46too small.
12:47While I'm disappointed, it was a great test of how important that La Ducasa location is to my house hunters.
12:53As working with their budget of up to £190,000, they're certainly going to get more for their money if
13:00we branch out to surrounding areas.
13:05We're all agreed that's exactly what we're going to do now with my next place in Las Colinas.
13:11More an extension of La Ducasa rather than an area in itself, Las Colinas is centred around a golf course
13:17just inland from the town.
13:21All right, guys. Take a look at this pool.
13:24It looks good. It looks good, doesn't it?
13:26Very nice, yes. And what would the grandkids think of this?
13:28Oh, they'd love it, wouldn't they? Love it.

15:42Sue, I think, would like it as well.
15:44She'd like the fact that there's more room, more space, because we are bringing the family here as well,
15:49so we need to be able to fit in comfortably. Right, exactly.

17:59I suppose there is that, yeah. So that's actually giving you even more sleeping space.
18:03You wouldn't have to worry so much about bunk beds and a double bed in the room.
18:07And actually, the parents can have a bit of privacy, couldn't you, Holly? Even better.

18:51But to achieve all that, we're going to have to head a little further from La Juquesa
18:55to a development called Playa Paraíso.
18:58Just under a ten-minute drive south and built along a stunning stretch of beach
19:02with a handful of shops and restaurants to keep Paul happy.
19:05It's lovely. It's really nice.
19:08It's a really lovely beach. It's quiet. It's more chilled vibes here as well.
19:14Yeah. And really, it's almost kind of semi-private
19:16because it's only used by these people in this apartment block here, really.
19:20But it's a public beach that anyone can come to.
19:23Yeah. It'd be great for the children. Yeah.

19:27and we'll be spending a lot more time at the beach
19:29because the boys just love it, don't they?

20:22around the beautiful beaches of La Gucasa in Spain
20:25with the help of Paul's daughter, Holly.
20:28So far, I've got zero contenders,
20:30but I'm hoping my next property closer to the coast
20:33will really impress them.
20:35Working with our budget of up to £190,000,
20:39Paul and daughter Holly loved the location of my first
20:42in La Gucasa itself, but felt it was lacking in space.
20:46While my next, just outside the town, certainly felt more roomy for them,
20:51it was just too far away from the action at the top of a steep hill.
20:56We're now just under a ten-minute drive south in Playa Paraiso,
21:00a location where I can offer the middle ground
21:03with a fair bit of space inside and out,
21:05alongside proximity to the beach with all its amenities.
21:10All right, before we head into the property, which is that way,
21:13just coming off the beach, and this would be your communal pool.
