00:00An incident in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, members of the Bajrang Dal disrupted a birthday party at a cafe and allegedly assaulted students.
00:18On the 27th of December 2025, a nursing student was celebrating her birthday with nine friends at a cafe in Prem Nagar.
00:27Among them were two Muslim youths. Over a dozen right-wing activists reportedly stormed the cafe, accusing the group of Love Jihad and creating a ruckus.
00:36During the chaos, at least one Muslim youth was assaulted, along with the birthday girl when she tried to intervene.
00:43Police reached the spot soon after, but their initial action has come under criticism.
00:47The Bareilly police issued challenge to the two Muslim youths, identified as Shan and Waqif, and to a cafe staffer for breach of peace, even while stating that the students had done nothing wrong and were only fined for disturbing public order.
01:02In contrast, the Bajrang Dal members, who allegedly led the attack, were reportedly only advised to disperse and were not immediately detained.
01:11The matter escalated after strong reactions on social media.
01:15On the 28th of December 2025 SP, Siti Manush Parikh said that an FIR is now being registered against the unidentified attackers.
01:24He also sought an explanation from the local SHO for failing to take immediate action against the main aggressors.
