00:00I'll just do a little preventative maintenance on the trucks, grease them up.
00:12Kind of expected Ryan to show up every time now. There you go.
00:17Though it is ridiculous to be here without a mechanic.
00:20Oh look at that, there he is.
00:25Look at this guy. My man. Fresh out of the road?
00:32That drive never gets shorter. What is that, 50?
00:36It's about 56, 57 hours.
00:39Rick Ness is ready to mine some gold and has called in critical crew mechanic Ryan Kent.
00:49So you're ready for work?
00:51Yeah, yeah, let's go. Sorry I'm late.
00:54With all the unknowns up here, it didn't make any sense for you to rush up here.
00:58I think there's opportunities here. There's a lot of ground to explore.
01:01We can go check it out.
01:02Show me now?
01:03Yep.
01:07Rick spent 200 ounces of gold to buy a new opportunity, Lightning Creek.
01:13He paid half up front, but needs to pay the second 100 ounces to seller Troy Taylor in two weeks' time.
01:24The claim covers more than 1,600 acres.
01:28And after a quick prospect, Rick rolled the dice and decided where to mine.
01:34This is the diamond cut here.
01:37So the good news is it's already down to pay it.
01:40The bad news is we're not a solution.
01:43What's the season total?
01:441,800.
01:45Is there going to be a stretch down here?
01:48I've been talking to Troy about it. I think we could pull it off.
01:51And I assume they gave you all the drill results for everything that they've done here?
01:55Yeah, yeah.
01:56There is some drilling.
01:57It's not, but it had a ton of mining on it.
01:59Are you happy with the test results?
02:01If we could actually get the ground here to stay consistent with the test that we got, it'd be good.
02:06You know, an ounce for 100 yards is what we're looking for.
02:08And with gold prices the way they are, like holy , man.
02:12To me, you're taking a pretty big gamble buying another piece of ground.
02:15That's, you know, the only thing that's been tested is by word of mouth from somebody else.
02:19And you just spend a ton of money to buy out the ground that you're on.
02:23You're right.
02:24That's the last thing I wanted to do.
02:26And I don't know, I probably did jump the gun.
02:29You know, my family relies heavily on how we do here.
02:34You know, I'm nervous as hell.
02:36The bottom line is we've got ground.
02:38We've got a water license.
02:39We need to get the gold coming in now.
02:41Looks like we need to get a plant ready then.
02:43Yeah.
02:45Hey guys, come on down with 750.
02:48We got a visitor.
02:49You finally show up?
02:50And it's the Yukon's best dirt mover.
02:52Hey, buddy.
02:53How you doing, man?
02:54Yeah, looks like you've been busy.
02:55Our new employees.
02:56What's up, buddy?
02:57Hey, Kai, this is Ryan.
02:58Hey, Ryan, nice to be here.
02:59We tried to set the plant up, but there's just not a lot of room down here.
03:03And I just, I didn't like the looks of it.
03:05There wasn't enough space.
03:06The bank was starting to erode right away.
03:08Last week, Rick's crew fired up WashBland Rocky for the first time this season.
03:18We got water.
03:19Woo!
03:20Woo!
03:21When disaster struck.
03:23The bank's eroding way too fast.
03:25Shut up!
03:26Shut up!
03:27It's already gone too far.
03:29Rick moved Rocky off the pad, rebuilt the foundation, and is finally ready to run again.
03:41Yep, I'm gonna stand away.
03:42Yeah.
03:43Once that's in, then we'll get the water and the pumps and the generator all hooked up.
03:54I think that's good.
04:03That's nuts on level.
04:06Next!
04:11This gen shack right here, and that's what provides the power for our plant.
04:15We've got the generator over here.
04:16We're gonna get the water pump next.
04:22Good?
04:23Looks pretty level to be, don't you?
04:24Yeah.
04:25Very nice to see this coming together.
04:28By the end of the day, we might even see some gold.
04:29Let me rephrase that.
04:30By the end of the day, we better see some gold.
04:31Clear.
04:32Woo!
04:33Clear!
04:34Yep.
04:35Yeah.
04:36Looks like we never shut it off.
04:37Makes a sense of how we cut it off, it's not right.
04:40It's greenery.
04:41Very nice.
04:42The heat is coming together.
04:43By the end of the day, we might even see some gold.
04:46Let me rephrase that, by the end of the day, we better see some gold.
04:47Clear!
04:56Woo!
04:57Clear!
04:58Yep.
05:00Yeah!
05:01It's like we never shut it off.
05:04It makes the same noise.
05:05There's nothing in it.
05:06Get the water going.
05:13There she goes.
05:16I'm super excited to see my first bucket put in the plan.
05:24A little shake.
05:25A little bit.
05:26Whoo!
05:28There we go.
05:29First bucket, 2025.
05:32Oh, listen to that.
05:37I say it every year.
05:38It's just some dirt, just some rocks, just some steel,
05:42all rattling together.
05:44But it sounds like gold to me.
05:49You can see the excitement in every one of these guys right now
05:51finally getting to see some gold go through the box.
05:531,800 ounces isn't going to come easy,
05:55so we definitely got to stay at it,
05:57keep the equipment good, and get to work.
06:00There's always an overwhelming amount of work to be done
06:03to get to this point.
06:04And when you finally do,
06:06you really got to take the time to celebrate it.
06:08But there's going to be someone sitting in this seat now
06:11every hour of every day for the next five months
06:15until we get out of here.
06:16You know, we'll push it as hard as we can,
06:18maybe get 120 yards an hour out of it,
06:20and we're going to make it work.
06:22You know, hopefully this right now is the start
06:24one hell of a season.
06:26We started early.
06:44But lately the pace has been a little bit slow,
06:47so once in a while we're going to have to get on it
06:51and breathe a little bit alive in the outfit.
06:57Mikey asked right a bit to do the get paradise hill up and gone.
07:02I was losing the early bird cut right now.
07:08King of the Klondike, Tony Beetz, has mined 1,400 ounces
07:13of his 6,500-ounce target,
07:17all of it from his early bird cut using one wash plant,
07:21sluice-a-lot.
07:25I like to move my ass a little bit.
07:27Get some new ground to open up.
07:29Open ground is better than money in the bank.
07:32I always have piggy banks.
07:34The whole corner cut is one of them.
07:37Tony's doubling down on his fast start
07:40by opening new ground he prospected last year.
07:45We have to get this great big corner cut ready.
07:49There's storm from Mike, his night shift guys.
07:52Get a couple of rock trucks and an excavator.
07:55I don't want to have this sluice box
07:57to sit down on an idle, not sluicing at all.
08:00We're going to try to avoid that at all costs.
08:03The plan is to strip at least, claim and a half
08:06for the end of the week.
08:08A mile east of the early bird cuts,
08:11the massive 46-acre corner cut
08:14will be Tony's biggest cut to date.
08:17He needs to strip a 10-acre section of overburden
08:2210 feet deep to reach pay,
08:26and he wants it done in just seven days.
08:32So we got to strip like crazy,
08:35so that means lots of new people.
08:37Tony has a big plan.
08:39Let's jump up and learn.
08:40That's how that works here.
08:41But nearly a month on the job,
08:44some of the Greenhorns are still struggling.
08:48We're a little bit behind,
08:51so I have 10 new people.
08:53Most of them have never driven a rock truck,
08:55so we give them ample time to learn.
08:58But there is a limit to how many times
09:00you can tip the truck, right?
09:02If they don't get it, well, then they got to go.
09:07I learned more in this last month
09:09than I feel like I've known in my whole life,
09:11to be honest with you, yeah.
09:14Tony, as a boss,
09:15is the most straightforward man I've ever met.
09:18He lets you know where you lie, for sure.
09:21It can get a little crazy when Tony shows up.
09:24We usually get a lot of stuff done,
09:25so that's always good.
09:28Tony, he's a great boss.
09:30He tells you what to do,
09:31and he's pretty hands-off if you do it right.
09:34Well, you know, if you do it wrong,
09:36then you're going to hear about it.
09:38Tony is keeping a close eye on his rookie crew.
09:43I told that idiot to get that over that anyway.
09:47I said, quit with that cat truck.
10:04What in the you trying to do?
10:06Two greenhorns are driving through a waterlogged section
10:11of the cut,
10:13taking unnecessary risks
10:15with Tony's expensive rock trucks.
10:18Go back, go back.
10:21Are you a little stupid or something?
10:23No, that transports.
10:29Okay, this sit there, don't go anywhere.
10:31Do not even move.
10:37F***ing idiot.
10:42What's that f*** with that cat truck?
10:44What's that f***ing idiot?
10:46He's got to tip that f***ing thing, that idiot.
10:50Tony spots another rookie mishandling his rock truck
10:54across the cut at the dump site.
10:56Instead of somebody calling,
10:59they got to f*** around, f*** around.
11:02And then they got to twist
11:03and turn the piss out of your f***ing truck,
11:05trying to f*** it up.
11:07None of them still have a clue as to what is happening.
11:09So I'm going to go direct traffic assault.
11:19What an idiot.
11:20Back it up.
11:21Straight, straight, straight.
11:23Back it up.
11:24Back it up.
11:25Back it up.
11:26Let's go.
11:27Now you're done with me.
11:31You don't have to be nice.
11:33If you can't tell somebody's f***ing stupid,
11:35how would he know?
11:44They will wreck your equipment.
11:46There's nothing funny about it.
11:47They don't give that f***, right?
11:56So them two trucks that I told to stay there,
11:58where the f*** did they go?
12:10There was a cat truck and a Volvo truck
12:12that told to stay there.
12:13Where did you two go?
12:14Where did you two go?
12:21There are ten rock truck drivers now.
12:24We'll find out.
12:28But soon, there might be eight.
12:31We'll find out.
12:32We'll get rid of them.
12:33Believe me.
12:34There was a cat truck and a Volvo truck that told to stay there.
12:38Where did you two go?
12:39At Indian River, Tony's on the hunt for two rock truck drivers
12:42who ignored his instruction to stop and wait for him in the corner cut.
12:45The truck that I told to stay there was a cat truck and a Volvo truck that told to stay there.
12:56Where did you two go?
13:01At Indian River, Tony's on the hunt for two rock truck drivers
13:06who ignored his instruction to stop and wait for him in the corner cut.
13:11The truck that I told to stay there, where are you?
13:22I'm back in the cut now.
13:23I managed to make it up the hill and dump the load I had.
13:26So there's something wrong with you hearing?
13:28Because if you can't listen, maybe you should go home and think about it.
13:31So park the truck, get out, go to camp, we'll see you in the morning.
13:35When I say something, you should learn a lesson.
13:42Yes, sir.
13:44Where is the other guy that was behind you?
13:48I'm not sure who is behind me, sir.
13:50Well, that guy better speak up.
13:52Who the was behind him with the load that they told to stay there?
13:55There was a Volvo truck.
14:00I want to know which one it is.
14:13So there's a weasel in the crowd, huh?
14:15You're going to have a little chat out there.
14:31That woman, get over there.
14:35Get the out of the truck.
14:36You get the out of the truck.
14:40Who the was the second truck?
14:43Because when I'll find him, I'll fire the .
14:50Because if you see how that was twisting up the road down there, gentlemen,
14:53that's not how it works.
14:55When they sit in your ass, don't get thinking, OK?
14:58OK, go load the gravel, get the out of the way.
15:02I'm pretty pissed off.
15:04There's a weasel in the crowd.
15:06Just make a challenge.
15:08I'll find that .
15:09We'll fire that .
15:11And the other one can go sit in camp for the day.
15:17The second driver has gotten away with disobeying Tony.
15:22For now.
15:24Tony is driving around like madman.
15:25It scared me to death.
15:26Tony has been on a bit of a firing spree.
15:29I'm not going to say anything.
15:30The best I can do is just keep my head down and hope everything else goes OK.
15:36I hope he forgot a little bit.
15:37We have a big goal this year, 2,000 ounces.
15:44The plant looks really nice sitting up on the way site.
15:47Pretty happy with that.
15:48We have a massive pay pile, which is excellent.
15:50Second year mine boss, Kevin Beads, has banked 162 ounces of gold.
15:54For the last week and a half, he's been stockpiling pay from his newly opened pyramid cut and repairing his wash plant.
16:01We'll take our time.
16:02We're going to do it right.
16:03Do it once.
16:04And then when we get sluicing, we never have to turn the off.
16:06With Brennan gone, we're down to Foreman.
16:13Now with Kaden leaving as well and now down to the Sniper.
16:15It's not going to be as much as thorough.
16:17It's going to be와.
16:22It's going to be a problem.
16:24Four-min.
16:25We'll take our time.
16:26We're going to do it right.
16:27Do it once.
16:28And then when we get sluicing, we never have to turn the f – off.
16:31With Brennan gone, we're down to Foreman.
16:34And with Caden leaving his wall and now down a mechanic, thankfully Buzz has been able to take a lot of the welding-related projects, which has been a great help.
16:43Now, I don't think Tony would really take as much time to get sluicing as we are.
16:48He'd probably ram it through as quickly as f***ing possible.
16:54Hey, lad. Go for a ride, see what he's up there.
16:57Well, first we have to find him.
16:59We'll find him.
17:00While making his rounds, Tony brings wife Minnie to check in on their eldest son's operation.
17:11I see his plan. What is he doing with it?
17:18They jump out.
17:20You have to park it before they can jump out.
17:26Hello.
17:27Oh, you can see we got the plant moved.
17:31Yeah.
17:32Nice and high.
17:35So you haven't been sluicing for a while, huh?
17:37No, I've been down for about a week and a half, I'd say.
17:39What the f***?
17:43You have to make money.
17:45Yep.
17:45You know?
17:46Very much.
17:47Very much.
17:47Instead of spending all your savings.
17:50Yeah, yeah.
17:52But we're getting repairs done, so hopefully we won't have to fix s*** for a good s*** amount of time.
18:00And get running next week.
18:03That's no s***.
18:03No, you don't.
18:05Get going.
18:07You have to lose and go on.
18:08We'll get going today, tomorrow.
18:16Okay, that'd be good.
18:18We'll come and check out on our royalties.
18:22Get it rolling.
18:23Later.
18:23I mean, he's going to make money too, right?
18:29Everybody's got bills.
18:30Everybody's got bills.
18:35Kevin always has been a bit of a perfectionist.
18:37It was like that when he was young too.
18:40Then it's like you kind of go, really, dude?
18:42The price of gold is s*** high.
18:45So you think you'd be on it?
18:46You would think?
18:47Yeah.
18:48No sluicing, no money.
18:50Still money going out?
18:52Yeah.
18:53Lots of s*** on the plant.
19:02You think it's fixed up now?
19:04We've got to go through this thing.
19:06Make sure this plant is tip-top-shaped.
19:08Get this up and running.
19:10Need a whole lot longer.
19:12To get his wash plant running,
19:14Kevin has tasked expectant father, Buzz Legault, with the repairs.
19:20We're going to be leaving soon here.
19:22We're freaking having a little baby girl come up, so.
19:27Very excited.
19:29You've got to treasure every moment that you have with your children.
19:37Buzz has been able to take a lot off my plate,
19:39but I know he's going to have to head off.
19:41I've got to go talk to Buzz so we can get sluicing again,
19:44so let's see what we can make s*** work.
19:57Hey, Buzz.
19:58Hey, Kevin.
19:59Ready to s*** go?
20:03Quite a bit more stuff that needs to be fixed up.
20:06Okay.
20:07Uh, so Tony and Mimi stopped by.
20:12But I really, really do want to get sluicing ASAP.
20:19But there's still more s*** around.
20:22Okay.
20:22The birth of my daughter is something that I'm definitely not going to miss.
20:33Well, like you said, make it s*** happen.
20:35The pressure is on, but you've got a couple of days.
20:37Yeah.
20:41Okay.
20:42Thanks, man.
20:43Best of luck.
20:48I'm definitely going to see some gold in the box before I take off,
20:53but, you know, things are looking a little bleak right now.
20:58I'm going to get my house in gear and get this done as quick as I can.
21:01I'm freaking before I have to go.
21:04But, uh, when it's time to go, I'm going.
21:07Buzz is on the plant, so we have a couple of days.
21:17He's going to have his work cut out for him.
21:33We've got a lot of hurdles here, and, you know,
21:36if this one's going to be a success, it's going to be hard fought,
21:40but, f*** me, are we going to deserve it?
21:44I gave Troy a down payment, and I told him I'd have him another 100 houses.
21:48You know, I'm betting our future on this.
21:53Rick Ness is finally on the gold,
21:56with wash plant rocky churning through 120 yards of pay an hour.
22:06Now it's business as usual.
22:07Now it's like we keep that plant running like it's our f***ing job.
22:12Right now, that's Kyle's job, so we're leaving him here to do it.
22:14By the end of the week, Rick and his crew will know
22:18whether his $700,000 gamble on Lightning Creek will pay out.
22:25We're not really going to know for sure what's in there.
22:28It's going to be our second full day of running rocky here.
22:31For s***, that don't look good.
22:52That end spray bar is not doing s***.
22:57There's way too much water coming over the s*** end of that.
23:00We're losing material out the side,
23:02and there could be gold in it.
23:08I think the pump's just too high.
23:10All right, I've got to walk you now.
23:11We're going to go over there and check.
23:13I'm good.
23:15Yeah, that's as low as she goes.
23:16I'm going to jump up there and look real quick.
23:19That's as low as it goes?
23:21That's it, man.
23:27All the water pressure's getting back up
23:29and going up through the pre-washed instead.
23:32Yeah, there's one up here and nothing new is coming out of it.
23:35We've got to shut it down.
23:36All right, I think I'll get the pump.
23:40We shut down when we're trying to get 1,800 ounces.
23:44It's not ideal.
23:46No, Rick won't like that.
23:47Right now, we're not really washing anything
23:49going across that shaker deck.
23:50Yeah, a bunch of s**t stuck in it.
24:03We're sucking in a bunch of rocks.
24:05And that's blocking the water flow.
24:08It's back to, you know, there's a lot of pressure left on it,
24:11so the pressure has nowhere else to go
24:12but back up to the spray bars.
24:15I mean, we cannot afford this downtime.
24:17We're going to go widen out the nozzle tips a little bit.
24:20That way, if we get any little bit of rock,
24:22it still shoots through.
24:23Water from the nearby creek
24:26is pumped to wash plant rocky
24:29and fed into two spray bars that wash the pay.
24:33But small rocks from the creek
24:35have blocked the plant's nozzles on one side,
24:39raising the water pressure in the pre-wash spray bars,
24:43blasting pay out of the plant.
24:47Ryan's simple fix?
24:48Widen the shaker deck spray bar nozzles
24:51so the rocks can pass through
24:53and the gold-rich pay can be cleaned properly.
24:59Yeah, because there's some big ones in there.
25:03There's our problem.
25:04We've got a pry bar stuck in there.
25:06Hey, where'd that crap from?
25:08Yeah, that's better.
25:10So we're going from that to that.
25:12Yeah.
25:15I'll get them clipped on.
25:16We'll fire up the water,
25:17but downtime kind of kicking our ass.
25:20Get them fixed.
25:21We'll get them fixed up.
25:22All right.
25:23I like it.
25:25Well, I'll get that shaker deck.
25:27Yeah, I'll go ahead and get the pump fired up
25:28when you give a thumbs up.
25:29Great.
25:29After a 30-minute shutdown, Rick's crew are back on the gold.
25:51Now that we've got those rocks cleared out of those spray bars,
25:57the water pressure seems nice and even now.
26:01It looks better.
26:01It's running better.
26:02Luckily, it wasn't for that long.
26:07Success.
26:08Yeah, no.
26:09The water looks a lot better.
26:11It's not blasting over the backside anymore.
26:13I don't want to shut down again.
26:14Rick don't want to shut down again.
26:15We're moving a lot of dirt.
26:31We're moving more dirt than we ever have before.
26:33We've got to stay ahead, stripping-wise.
26:43At Indian River, Tony is pushing foreman Cousin Mike and his crew
26:49to open up a 10-acre section of the corner cut by the end of the week.
27:00They don't really have the corner cut ready,
27:03so I got driving around there this morning.
27:06We've got to keep an eye on these truck drivers.
27:11There's a weasel in the crowd.
27:13I'll find that and I'll get rid of him, believe me.
27:15Tony's watching his crew like a hawk
27:21after a rock truck driver disobeyed him earlier in the week.
27:27People come in and say they can do things,
27:30and, boy, they must think you're stupid.
27:33You've got to get rid of them because they cost you money.
27:37If I don't light the fire on the people,
27:40then it's going to get only worse and worse and worse.
27:43Next thing you know, there's a whole happening.
27:50Who did the up?
27:52Okay, who's in that rock truck?
28:00I was not paying attention.
28:02Sometimes I say, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
28:04I know exactly.
28:05I'm a not a damn thing.
28:06I was out very late last night drinking, so.
28:19That's 48 hours now without sleep.
28:25Oh, I went the wrong way.
28:27I went the wrong way.
28:27What the are you doing?
28:37Where's this truck going?
28:41me.
28:43everything up.
28:44Are you having troubles?
28:56No answer.
28:59Is this guy trying to talk to me?
29:07Ah, ah.
29:09I'm trying to take it.
29:11I've seen a couple of weird behaviors from him.
29:14Oh, I think he's drinking on the job.
29:21I'm pretty sure Jared's face is at work.
29:26He can't be having that around yet.
29:29He's going to hurt himself or hurt somebody else.
29:40me.
29:44I don't know what's going on with Jared, but I think he's drunk or something.
29:57He can't go home.
30:00I have no idea where the hell I'm going right now.
30:13There he is.
30:20Jared.
30:20You're drunk or something?
30:25Look at me.
30:27You're drunk?
30:30I don't think you're fine.
30:31Here, stop the truck.
30:32Stop the truck.
30:34Yeah, stop it.
30:35Park it.
30:36Get out.
30:38You're in the truck.
30:39In the truck.
30:46Jared.
30:48You're drunk?
30:48No.
30:49Hey, look at me.
30:56You're drunk?
30:57No.
30:57You're being goofy all day.
31:00Hey, look at me.
31:04You can't even look at me straight.
31:07You're driving like an idiot, hunting, like you're not right in the head.
31:11You smell like alcohol, too.
31:12I'll, uh, get to the camp.
31:18Grab your s***.
31:20At Indian River, Beats foreman, cousin Mike, has pulled rock truck driver Jared off the job.
31:28I think this guy is drunk.
31:35You're going to be lippy with me because then you're going to guarantee.
31:40I don't give a s***.
31:42Can I be honest with you?
31:44Yeah.
31:45I drank too much last night.
31:47Will you give me another shot?
31:50You can go let me sleep this off.
31:53Or am I fired?
31:56Well, I just got to see because I think you're drunk right now.
32:03Take your bag.
32:04Yeah, I'll go.
32:10Tony, do you copy?
32:12I have someone here.
32:16I think he's drunk.
32:17Who is it?
32:19Jared.
32:20Smell the alcohol here.
32:23Come on, bye.
32:23Okay.
32:25Okay.
32:25You stay here.
32:28Through yours.
32:28I agree to leave.
32:30I agree to leave.
32:32You're drunk?
32:33Yeah.
32:33You have been drinking?
32:33I'm just...
32:34So you were lying too?
32:35You're drunk and lying.
32:36No, you were lying.
32:36I told you.
32:37I told you.
32:37I said I'm f***ing.
32:38You told me you were hungover from last night.
32:40I was hungover from last night.
32:42If I didn't stop drinking, I would have f***ing not been able to make it to work.
32:46Anyway, take me back to Dawson City.
32:48That's fine.
32:48No, no, no.
32:49That's not how that works.
32:50You don't make the call.
32:51So you f*** up while you get fired, you've got 30 minutes to get the f*** out of here.
32:54I'm trying to work to get here.
32:55You're trying to work with me being drunk?
32:57What?
32:58You're running a piece of heavy equipment, people around, and you're being drunk.
33:02Sorry?
33:03Like, give your head a shake.
33:04I don't know how old you are.
33:05Can I take...
33:06We'll go to your room.
33:07Can I just have a f***ing nap and come back?
33:08No.
33:0930 minutes, you're out.
33:10Is that one out?
33:12Yeah.
33:1330 minutes?
33:14F***ing idiot.
33:15Yep.
33:16I've seen that f***ing driver doing funny, so get the f*** out, don't get f***ing drunk.
33:20Get out.
33:21Get out.
33:30I really don't give a f*** for them f***ing f*** out.
33:34Get the f***ing rid of it.
33:37Yeah, I was just pretty happy nothing serious happened.
33:40I mean, these people drink, they sit in the truck, I'll just fire them.
33:43I'm just always very grateful and happy that nobody got hurt and nothing happened.
33:48Because you can always get another rock truck or whatever you'll kill somebody.
33:52That's far from f***ing funny when people get hurt or worse.
33:56So when you have one of that, you're just happy you cut it in time and get rid of them.
34:05I really, really do want to get sluicing ASAP.
34:12The pressure is on to try and get as much as possible this year, as fast as possible.
34:17Perfectionist Kevin Beetz is under pressure from his landlord parents, Tony and Minnie, to get sluicing and deliver their royalties.
34:27With the plant, there's a lot of just maintenance that we need to do.
34:32Buzz has a whole f***ing list that we just need to do so it doesn't become big f*** off projects.
34:38There's no f***ing time to get this f*** done.
34:44Buzz is trying to complete Kevin's maintenance repairs.
34:49Kevin wants to get this plant all in chipped off shape here before I leave.
35:02I'll get that crack all sealed up.
35:04But that there is the last piece of the puzzle.
35:10Hey, man, it's all fixed up now.
35:12He can get this plant put back together and get it back into action, man.
35:23Buzz's ready to rumble!
35:26Yeah.
35:27Alrighty.
35:28The loader's on the way.
35:29It's been a couple of weeks since we had gold coming in.
35:32It'd be nice and start paying bills.
35:34That would be nice, yes.
35:35Yes.
35:36Hey, Buzz.
35:37Hey, guys.
35:38Hey, Buzz.
35:39There she goes.
35:40Oh, there you go.
35:42It's all freaking ready.
35:44Oh, Gary's here.
35:45Well, let's get her fired up.
35:46Let's do it.
35:48Kevin is finally ready to start running his stockpile of pyramid cut pay dirt.
36:03Beauty.
36:04Alright, now on switches.
36:05First things first, discharge conveyor.
36:09On.
36:13There we go.
36:15Screen deck.
36:21We are shaking.
36:25Okay, everybody's ready.
36:34First bucket is on his way.
36:35First bucket is on his way.
36:38First bucket is.
36:51There we go.
36:52Where's the pickup?
36:53There we go.
36:54There we go.
37:03Wait, wait, kill the beater.
37:06Kill the beater, please.
37:07Kill the beater.
37:10How did I kill the beater?
37:11I'm good, and I forgot.
37:18There was a pile of dirt left in the pre-wash
37:21from when we shut down.
37:23That is forming a pile, so it's not able to flow.
37:26Can I get you to bring me one of those long shovels?
37:29Failure to clean out the pre-wash has left concrete-like dirt
37:34that can't be broken down by the spray bars,
37:38creating a blockage and causing the new pay to pile up.
37:42So I should fix this for good.
37:46You're going to have to shut down to clean out the pre-wash
37:49and have somebody in here for the shovel cleaning out
37:51the rocks.
37:53But we need to get solution again, so we just
37:57need to do Tony's, ah, it, run it mentality.
38:01Fighting his perfectionist need to shut down,
38:04Kevin's opting for a temporary fix.
38:07So rather than pile this dirt up 60 feet,
38:14I have to shovel it.
38:18Can someone go turn up the pump, please?
38:23Can you get it up to 1,600, please?
38:25OK, 1,600, coming up.
38:27OK, 1,600, coming up.
38:28We're getting it.
38:29Just a few minor adjustments.
38:31There we go.
38:36Get this at least moving.
38:40Ah, that's looking way better.
38:45Perfect.
38:46OK, now we can turn on the feeder, but set it at 3, please.
38:53Kevin's efforts clear the blockage.
39:11Well, good to be sleucing, guys.
39:13Well, it looks good, Buzz.
39:14I think you did a good job getting it ready to run.
39:16Oh, thanks, man.
39:17I appreciate that.
39:18I'll just do my best.
39:20That's all we can do.
39:21Yeah.
39:22Yeah.
39:23Looking good.
39:29Kevin's baby's going, so that's a good thing.
39:32I just hope everything goes a lot smoother
39:35than it was my baby than it did here.
39:39All the repairs seem to be holding, so yeah, it looks good.
39:43Ah, you got a rip.
39:48So I am well aware of this tendency.
39:51I like to get everything just right.
39:55I guess Tony is right.
39:58I've had to learn to be good enough is good enough.
40:00You know what I mean?
40:01Instead of just, it has to be right.
40:16It's the first mat pull of the season.
40:18Moment of truth, we'll pull the mats,
40:19and I'm going to actually finally see if the diamond cut's
40:22got any gold.
40:23What's going on?
40:24First clean up.
40:25I figured it's your first time, so I might as well jump
40:28in the rock truck, give you a chance to get over there,
40:29kind of see what it's like.
40:30All right.
40:34Is it everything you imagined, Kai?
40:36Glamour.
40:37And more.
40:39These clean ups are on my shoulders.
40:40You know what I mean?
40:40I'm always worried about letting them down.
40:42It's one of the nice things about having a small group.
40:44It makes me feel like we're all in it together.
40:47In my eyes, the absolute perfect team.
40:49You guys are the real gold.
40:52Did you hear that, Kai?
40:52You're the real gold.
40:54Who?
40:54You.
40:55Well, I'm the real gold.
40:56You guys are the real gold out here for me.
40:59Oh, don't break my new expensive buckets.
41:03Are we buying buckets?
41:04We got that bucket money now?
41:17Well, it's looking pretty good.
41:20Water's doing what it's supposed to.
41:22And just nice and consistent.
41:26I'm pretty happy that we got the plant going.
41:29Takes a lot of stress off my mind.
41:31It has a whole different kind, but at least
41:33the stress makes money.
41:34So it was a step in the right direction.
41:38Kevin's wash plant is up and running.
41:42That's it, all packed up, ready to go.
41:46But he's losing another valuable crew member.
41:57Hey, Buzz.
41:57How's it going?
41:58Not too bad, not too bad.
42:00So yeah, it must be about time for you to get going, eh?
42:02The little one's real close coming now, so it's countdown
42:06gone, eh?
42:07Yep, the real one.
42:08Yeah, I just want to say thanks, Buzz, for all you've done.
42:10No, it's been pretty cool, man.
42:12Pretty good.
42:12No, I appreciate the opportunity, definitely.
42:15I think it's worked out, honestly.
42:16So we have a little bit of luck on our side.
42:20Found a bit of gold when we fired up and it runs.
42:22Right on, man.
42:23That was awesome.
42:24Right?
42:25You're coming back after, I assume, right?
42:27Yes, sir.
42:29Safe travels.
42:30Thanks, man.
42:31And best of luck.
42:32Hope it all goes smooth for you.
42:33Yep.
42:38Hi, guys.
42:47So another gold way?
42:50No, we're just here to see you because we missed you so much,
42:53Dad.
42:54Good, good, good, Mike.
42:56How is it in the Indian?
42:58You just went in the corner cut here.
43:00That'll be a youth's cut.
43:01So now you stole my people and you've been hiring a lot.
43:04How's it going with all of them?
43:06Well, Mike and me would have certainly appreciated if you
43:09would have trained them a little bit, though.
43:13Because them driving all over the place.
43:15It doesn't seem to matter if it's dry or wet.
43:17They're everywhere.
43:18We got some characters in the crowd,
43:20but you've got to go through them.
43:22We had one driving around drunk, so that they're not.
43:24What?
43:25What?
43:26And then you've got a drunk idiot driving to walking around.
43:28And it's just people more so than anything else,
43:31because they hurt other people, right?
43:32Yeah.
43:33And it won't bother them because they're in a rock truck.
43:35Yeah.
43:36That's scary.
43:37It is.
43:38Yeah.
43:38You've got to go.
43:39That's serious stuff.
43:40Hey, Monica, how's things going in the gold room?
43:43Good.
43:43Keeping busy?
43:45Please, Mike, you'll come because I can't see.
43:48So far, the early bird cut has produced a weekly average
43:53of 250 ounces of gold.
43:59Are you ready, Michael?
43:5960, 70, 100, 110, 120, 130, 450, 60, 70.
44:13190, 200, 220, 330, 40, 350, 70, 80, 90, 300, 310, 320, 330, 340, 350, 360.
44:274, 4, 410, 420, 420, 430, 440, 450, 460, 467.8, 467.8.
44:42Slusalot's record-breaking weekly haul is worth over one and a half million dollars.
44:49That's doing pretty damn good.
44:51It's a pretty good hobby, yeah?
44:52Yeah.
44:53It's you.
44:54We have to take a holiday.
44:56OK.
44:57Where are we going?
44:57I'll book it right now.
44:58Oh, oh, oh, oh.
45:00I'll go make some more.
45:01How's that?
45:12Yeah, yeah.
45:13Rick, Rick, Rick, Rick.
45:15Oh, look at him.
45:16Heep.
45:17Heep.
45:18Heep.
45:19Heep.
45:20Heep.
45:21Heep.
45:22Heep.
45:23Woo.
45:24The Ness crew are waiting for their first gold weigh of the season to see if Rick's diamond
45:30cut will pay out.
45:32This is a weird one.
45:33It's starting on new ground again.
45:35Yeah.
45:36Yeah.
45:37Well, we can't come on new ground and expect to hit Raleigh Valley, Vegas Valley kind of
45:40.
45:41I mean, I know it's going to be a learning deal, but.
45:42Yeah, it's definitely still a risk.
45:43Speaking of that, so we can grab the gold and weigh it up.
45:45Let's see it.
45:46Let's see it.
45:48To be successful, Rick's crew need one ounce per hundred yards.
45:54So at least 40 ounces of gold.
46:00Four days, around 100 yards an hour.
46:02Do you want to count the numbers?
46:03Sure.
46:04First one?
46:05We got it.
46:06One.
46:07Two.
46:08Three.
46:09Four.
46:10Five.
46:11Six.
46:12Seven.
46:13Seven.
46:14Seven point three.
46:15Five.
46:16Worth.
46:17Just $25,000.
46:19That's a big waste of time is what that is.
46:20That's terrible.
46:21Yeah.
46:22Yep.
46:23Yes, that's a.
46:24Not even quite two ounces a day.
46:25That's a big waste of time right there.
46:26Yep.
46:27Does that even pay for.
46:28No, it doesn't even.
46:29I didn't think so.
46:30It doesn't even start the list of things that it has to pay for.
46:31I can't afford to be up here and not bring anything home.
46:32You know, part of me is, yeah, that's some new ground, but the other part's like, dude,
46:37I hope you can figure it out because if you go broke, I go broke.
46:41It hasn't happened yet.
46:42I don't intend it to happen this year.
46:43But yeah, I mean, right now it's, yeah, I'm wondering did I make the right decision, you
47:02know?
47:03We've got over 100 claims on this bunch here.
47:07So, you know, that's, that was obviously the wrong spot for me.
47:12That was obviously the wrong spot to start, but we can move on from that.
47:15F*** it.
47:16First gold way.
47:17We're done.
47:18F*** it.
47:19Yeah, let's go home.
47:21Lightning Creek was definitely a gamble.
47:24Seven ounces, that's not going to pay my bills nor his bills, so hopefully Rick find a new
47:30spot.
47:31That will be the answer.
47:32So unfortunately, the diamond cut, that's a fail.
47:37We'll see what happens next.
47:38We just got to find the gold because the diamond cut did not have it.
47:42We're running out of time to get 100 ounces of Troy, so we got to be ready to pivot.
47:45We got to go up the valley.
47:47We got to look for better gold.
