00:00So you got Alabama and Oklahoma.
00:03Oklahoma, really good defense.
00:05Alabama, not able to really establish the run all season.
00:08You have a quarterback potentially that could be injured.
00:11Where are you leaning on this game?
00:14Because this is the feeder to Indiana in their first game.
00:19Yeah, it's a great way to start the college football playoff on a Friday night.
00:22A rematch of a game we saw just over a month ago in Tuscaloosa.
00:26So that Oklahoma won outright as the underdog because they forced three turnovers resulting
00:30in 17 points, including that pick six for Eli Bowen and that OU defense.
00:35You guys have heard me say this constantly throughout the season.
00:38I am incredibly high on this Sooners defense led by Brett Venables because of the production
00:43from last year in 2024 and what they have replicated here in 2025.
00:48Top 10 scoring defense, top five rushing defense, and Schlegs, you hit the nail on the head.
00:52Alabama's lack of a dynamic offense, of a two-fold offense, their inability to run the football
00:59this year has been astounding.
01:02116 rushing yards per game.
01:04You can't even find in the historical stats and trends when Alabama last averaged just 116
01:10yards per game.
01:11It doesn't matter if it was year one under Kalen DeBoer or, of course, in the 17-year run
01:15under Nick Saban.
01:17And that really hurts a guy like Ty Simpson against this Oklahoma defense that in that
01:22regular season matchup in Brian Denny, OU had four sacks, five TFLs under constant pressure
01:28for Ty Simpson.
01:29Four of his five INTs this year in the last three games for Alabama, including against
01:35Oklahoma.
01:36A lot of public money on OU, but a lot of the sharp money on Alabama and the over.
01:42A lot of people thinking this game is a slugfest built on the defensive side of the ball.
01:47The sharp wise guy money, if you will, kind of thinking the exact opposite.
01:52It is one of those unique spots.
01:54Eileen, Oklahoma, winning this game outright now at home in Norman.
01:59But the reason that would not happen is because Oklahoma's offense continues to be stagnant.
02:04We talk about Ty Simpson.
02:06John Mateer just has not been the same since injuring that right thumb.
02:09Uh, before we take a break here, you start talking about this thing being a slugfest.
02:15I want to say I saw the point total in the low forties.
02:18Yeah.
02:18Uh, Ben, I mean, reminiscent almost of a Cy Hawk battle with just this offensive, uh, this
02:25lack of offensive output.
02:26I know like Ty Simpson, he has the potential.
02:29He's been good at times.
02:30Johnny Mateer, really good.
02:33First four weeks of the season, early Heisman, a favorite after the thumb surgery, not as good.
02:38Are you leaning, do you think that that could be an over?
02:41I mean, I know it was defensive big time.
02:42The first game was, uh, his 41 and a half is what we're seeing on FanDuel.
02:47Do you like the over or potentially the under on that?
02:5040 and a half for most of the last two weeks, Bobby.
02:52So you're starting to see some of that buyback, perhaps because of a large money coming in
02:56from the sharps on the over, not the way the public is thinking about this game, expecting
03:01it to be defense first.
03:03We are not talking about a monumental total by any means.
03:06I would probably lean somewhere right around there.
03:09I don't think we get into the fifties or mid fifties, if anything, into the high forties
03:13over this number of 40.
03:15I really do wonder how the time off for Oklahoma offensively for John Mateer starting to find
03:20his groove.
03:21The only time we saw John Mateer in his final seven games of the year, put up more than
03:25250 yards of total offense was in the finale against LSU.
03:30318 passing yards, two touchdowns, but three INTs.
03:34Oklahoma is going to have to be good on the offensive side against an Alabama defense that
03:39really improved against the run in the final month and a half of the regular season.
03:42See you soon.
