00:00Welcome back. In Honduras, citizens were repressed by a police contingent while protesting at the headquarters of the National Electoral Council,
00:07demanding a vote-by-vote recount after more than two weeks of waiting for electoral results.
00:13Police forces attacked the protesters with water cannons, tear gas, and, according to preliminary reports, around 15 citizens have been arrested so far.
00:22In this context, President Xiomara Castro reaffirmed that the demonstration is a democratic right of free peoples and defended the peaceful protest.
00:30The president also ordered the cessation of repression, the investigation, and the dismissal of those involved in actions against the peaceful demonstration that demanded electoral transparency.
