00:00D'Amico Ryans, he spoke to the media yesterday, and listening to him and now listening to him over the years, I thoroughly can relate to him.
00:13This was him talking about his defense in Sunday's performance against the Cardinals.
00:18From that game, defensively, that game was not up to our standard.
00:22So there are a ton of things that we can improve upon, a ton of things that we need to get better at,
00:27things that we worked and we didn't play up to our standard defensively.
00:32So we have a lot to go out and improve.
00:36Fellas, I have three children.
00:42My oldest son, same.
00:46Ronald, Trey, maybe you do this.
00:50My youngest, Nicholas.
00:53And then my baby girl in the middle, Lauren.
00:57And what D'Amico does with his two sides of the ball, and I can admit I don't love it, but I know it's the case, is what I do to my boys and my daughter.
01:12Oh, damn, so.
01:13Explain.
01:14I don't need you to explain this.
01:15I'm just saying, like, you heard him right there.
01:18Now, that defense has been the best defense in football.
01:22They gave up, oh, 20 points in a game that was a laugher the whole way.
01:28They got multiple sacks in the game.
01:31They got a turnover.
01:33Yeah, maybe they didn't play, you know, as great as you want.
01:36This is the one time, maybe all year, right?
01:4020 points.
01:41My man out here, I mean, you hear him right now.
01:45He sound like he's about to, like, they're getting cussed to smooth out, like they're about to run bleachers.
01:52You guys good?
01:53That offense out there, hey, man, they're getting better every day, guys.
01:57Hey, man, it's all right.
01:59They're getting better.
02:00They're getting, I'm not saying he doesn't ever call out the offense.
02:02But, man, he clearly treats those two sides of the ball different.
02:10Clearly, there are, to me, the way that I handle Lauren sometimes.
02:17Lauren strikes out in softball and her head's flying all over the place and she's not keeping her head down.
02:22It's all right.
02:23You know, it's a little different than when Ronald does it.
02:27What do you hit Ronald?
02:28Hey, son, head down.
02:30We've been talking about this.
02:32Head down.
02:33You got my ball wrong?
02:34Right?
02:34Like, I am that way.
02:37It is clearly the defense, the son for D'Amico.
02:44Clearly.
02:45Offensively, he's a young daughter, huh?
02:47Offensively, kid gloves.
02:49Yeah.
02:49Offensively, like, his patience seems to be a lot more, right?
02:55And, listen, he's been incredible for the first three years.
03:01This will be the third consecutive year that I think D'Amico is going to deservedly get votes to be the coach of the year.
03:11But, man, I wonder when or if it will ever happen that the offense will get the same level of treatment that he does there.
03:23I don't think it's going to happen.
03:24I think that's because, I mean, he is a – probably the same reason that you – there's a difference in yours.
03:30Like, he is a defense – so he knows when he's getting in that ass, he knows exactly what he's getting in that ass.
03:35I don't like to act like I'm doing it on purpose, but I can't – like, I can't –
03:38I'm going to tell you, I've got to admit it, Ron.
03:41Mine aren't boy-girl issues, but my four-year-old – my four-year-old gets it the way D'Amico gets that defense.
03:48My two-year-old, she gets treated like that offense.
03:52I'm going to tell you, man, Liv, I was going to say, hey, I ain't got no dog in the fight until you told me how you deal with Trey.
03:58Yeah, yeah.
03:58Oh, that's exactly how I deal with Liv.
04:00Now, it's obviously not on the baseball dime, and it's – you should hit him or something.
04:03I'm like, we've talked about this 14 times.
04:06What the hell are you doing?
04:07Like – and then the little one does it, and I'm like, hey, Laney, no.
04:10All right, man.
04:12That gave him up 20 points, man.
04:13You hear him?
04:14I mean, you're how pissed he is.
04:1620 points in a game where from jump that Jacoby Brissett was having to play catch-up,
04:21so they were aggressive and just bombs away.
04:24We don't like that.
04:24Later on, I believe he said something to the extent of, like, the offense playing the way they do
04:31has no bearing on the way that our defense performs.
04:35The lollygagging.
04:37Up to standard.
04:39Like, God, man.
04:42Damn, Coach, we can't allow 20.
04:45Oh, no.
04:46Like, yeah, we've held down tight ends all year.
04:49McBride comes at just the best in the game.
04:51We get stunned.
04:53Shoot.
04:54We didn't put 31 on him.
04:56Hey, the one night we get a 17-point lead, the one night we get 40 out of our offense,
05:00we can't chill for a bit.
05:03Someone said that four-year-old – is that the same one you took to that horror movie?
05:07Yes.
05:08Yes.
05:09By the way, the last two nights has had nightmares.
05:13I'm not real sure if that has anything to do with that night sliding off that metal table.
05:17Someone texted in.
05:18D'Amico's going to break out that I'm not mad.
05:20I'm disappointed.
05:21No, he's going to say that to the offense.
05:22He's going to let that defense know he is.
05:25He's high, no doubt.
05:2720 points?
05:28I got the 20 to them?
05:31To Jacoby Percet?
05:32Practice this week is going to be a little rougher than me.
05:34They didn't have Marvin.
05:36You're going to get hit hard if you're pressing yourself.
05:38I said, damn.
05:40Hey, man.
05:41Take it easy a little bit, man.
05:43Your offense scored 36 yards and a half.
05:47Yeah, guys.
05:48Hey, man.
05:49They complimented our defense well.
05:51Special teams.
05:52Jacoby Percet was in two minutes from the first five minutes of the game on, too.
05:57Yeah, he was.
05:58He was.
05:59Man, that got to me, man.
06:02I feel you, man.
06:03I feel you, man.
06:04Because, hey, Ronald is definitely that defense over here.
06:08I'd have to back off a little.
06:09Mom, go ahead and take it here.
06:10You tag in here, because I'm about to drive this.
06:12He's going to eat my ass here in a second.
06:16He ate my ass.
06:17All right, coming up.
06:21E-mail you, Doka.
06:23His pockets are going to be a little lighter after what he did.
06:25If you missed what he had to say after yesterday's game, he did not mince any words.
06:33He let it be known very clear.
06:35And I had some thoughts on what he had to say.
06:37We'll be coming up.
06:38All right, look.
06:38For a lot of y'all out there, it's happening, man.
06:40Your hair's thinning.
06:41Your crown's disappearing.
06:41You're throwing a hat on every time you leave the house because you've got that hair loss issue
06:45that has you feeling like you've lost your identity altogether, man.
06:48Well, luckily, you're listening to Sports Radio 610, and you're listening to The Drive today
06:52because I've got good news.
06:53Look, it's an incredible yet simple one-day treatment.
06:56Starts re-
06:56and you're listening to Sports Radio 610, and you're listening to The Drive today.
07:11I'm your host, man.
07:13You're listening to Sports Radio 710, which is a win-win.
07:15You're listening to Sports Radio 610, and you're listening to Sports Radio 610, and you're listening to Sports Radio 610, and we're listening to Sports Radio 610.
07:25The Drive today is a $19.
15:29He's a big man.
15:31Yeah, he's the kind of person that gets big mad, but don't really look like or act like he's big mad.
15:37He just, he's saying it, but you can tell, you can tell he's pissed.
15:40I think, you know, I think, you know, I think he has a point, you know, I think he has a point.
16:10I think, you know, I think, you know, I think, you know, I think, you know, I think, you know, I think, you know, I think he went overboard with the second part of it, that first part, it is, it has happened from Phil Jackson to Pat Riley to Steve Kerr. We've seen it a lot where coaches will go through the media and say stuff about officiating.
16:40And go, we're two people out there that don't deserve to be there. And then the crew tree chief, Zach Zarba is one of the most respected officials of the game. Does the NBA finals. Does he's out there starstruck? And that's the, that's the way he's at it.
16:56I think at that point, like them dudes are human. Oh, okay. That's what we're doing. Okay. You go, you go first and come out and go to the space of we don't deserve to be out here. And now we're starstruck. Like, I think, I don't think that helps your team in the, in the future with officials. I don't think it helps you. Like if I'm Zach Zarba, I'm telling you, man, I got a short leash, but you keep going. I'm teeing your ass up immediately. If you think I'm starstruck, I'm sure I'm certainly not starstruck against you. And those guys are like, I just, I just don't.
17:26I think when he went past the, Hey man, that's the worst officiating game I've seen. It's unacceptable. We got to be better. When you go past that and then start talking about, I mean, he's got two people out here. I don't care how hard they've worked. They don't deserve to be the hell out here. Like I, I, I just, I don't, I don't think he put his team in a, in a good situation. And then my man later on then went ahead and said, and we ain't going to adjust to officiating. We're just going to keep doing what we do.
17:56I do. I'd like it, whether he was right or wrong, whether he was to go publicly and then to hit, to hit them with the, yeah, man, y'all need to deserve to be out here. Like that, like that to me, I'm just saying you, you just, you just know, when you say stuff like that, they're, they're potentially going to be consequences.
18:16Oh, is that not going nowhere? They're going to, they're going to be out there. They're going to officiate more rockets game.
18:21Well, at that point, you've obviously accepted, Hey, I'm fixing it. I'm just going to, I'm going to eat this fine.
18:27Yeah. Well, yeah, but yeah, fine. But yeah, he's going to get fine for the criticism to begin.
18:31So, so, so he's just, he's going to go ahead and get his money's worth. And, and, and I, I didn't,
18:36I did not watch enough of the game outside of the highlights and the very ending to, to,
18:42to understand whether he is or he isn't to understand if there's a message that he's like
18:49the starstruck thing. That's telling me that obviously he's treating, he's treating, you know,
18:54a couple of guys in a certain way. And he didn't appreciate that, that his group wasn't getting
18:59the same treatment, even though your player, one on your team, you got the biggest star in the game.
19:03Yeah. I mean, yeah, I, yeah, but I like, I didn't watch the game close enough throughout to see
19:09like how much of it, how much was Jokic kind of still treatment throughout the game?
19:15Based on the highlights and based on the conversations that I heard you guys having,
19:18and I heard, I heard Lopez having, it sounds like hell, they could have been real sweet to
19:22that superstar on the other team and kept them in the game and not called to foul. So I don't know
19:28enough really to have a real strong opinion of, of what is, what messages could he potentially be
19:32trying to send outside of obviously just cutting, cutting low on the, on the, but I'm just saying
19:38when you cut low, like when you, when you, like, it's just like, you, you know, all of
19:45you, you know, you've got yourself in potential either altercations or potential issues with
19:51people, you know, I'm going to say this and there's potentially going to, I need to be
19:57potentially ready for, you know, issues. Right.
20:01Like I do it with my wife all the time. Yeah. I mean, I mean, you got, you got her and say,
20:07all right, man, sure. You want this? These, like you said, like you just said right there,
20:11Todd, these amateurs, they don't need to be out here.
20:14What is this amateur hour? Not just, they don't need to be out here. They don't deserve to be out
20:18here. Go ref an upward league star, star struck. Like when you do that, I mean, I'm just saying like,
20:26okay. I, I hope that those humans will look at it and say, all right, man, he was just mad. But I,
20:33I, I don't know. Cause I'm telling you, I ain't going to cheat you, but I guess I, Hey, I, my,
20:38my, my leash is short with you. Like I'm, I'm going, I'm like, I'm going to tee you up. I ain't
20:45going to deal with you. Right. Remember right here, man. I'm star struck. Well, he's not his
20:50delivery. And he, and to be honest with you, he himself, he's not a guy that like,
20:54if it were me, like, I don't, I don't view his temperament and his personality as a guy
20:58like, like, Oh man, he just, he was just hotheaded in the moment. It got the moment
21:02got the best of him. Like you said, it appears to be measured, calculated it like he, he meant
21:07to cut deep and he don't give a damn what you think about it. And so it is, it is one
21:11that's going to be on the, on the difficult side to forgive. If you're, if you're any part of
21:15that, that crew. Oh yeah. You may, you shake him up, but it's, it's, it's, it's,
21:18it's human nature. Well, I just said, damn dog. Come on, man. Don't put your team in
21:23like, don't someone texting, you don't, uh, uh, I'd, I'd rather he have done that than
21:27not. Like cool, man. All right. Yeah. I know him. A, you dope is not soft. I don't think
21:33any of those officials think he's soft. I don't see no bitches. No, I think I, I can
21:38completely see fellas with what happened in the game, especially how it ended with two
21:45calls on a men Thompson that, uh, one was just a really bad call. The other one
21:50was, I could see the frustration from him, but, but I can, I can see why he said, all
21:58right, mama go up here and I'm going to address this. Like I, I can see him get to
22:02a point of saying, let me address this. I I'm going to say, but then to take it to
22:08where, like, I, like I talked to B Scott earlier. He says, sometimes you got to flip
22:12the table over. Yeah. He flipped the table over and then he went up there and
22:16walked right up to them and gave them all the double birds. He, after he flipped
22:22the table over, he walked up and, and, and, and gave them all the double birds and
22:27you're going to have to see them cats again. And they're going to officiate your
22:30games again. And maybe not just them. Like, like I would imagine in their line of
22:36work, that's really disrespectful of the, Hey man, they've probably worked really
22:40hard to get to the point where they become an NBA official and you all
22:43going to be young. Y'all don't, you don't even deserve to be out here.
22:48You don't even deserve to be out here. So I don't know, man, my man, my man, I, I, I
22:53hope that doesn't affect them down the line, but that, that seemed like he, he
22:57went over, he went overboard to me on that one. I get the first part of it, but
23:01damn, man, you had to get personal.
