A former soldier who brought Paul Doyle’s car to a stop when he climbed into the back seat and moved the gearstick to park mode has said he does not think he did anything special.Dan Barr has been described as a “hero” who stopped Doyle, who injured 134 people, from continuing to drive through the crowds on Water Street in Liverpool city centre after Liverpool FC’s victory parade on May 26.The 41-year-old, who suffered cuts to his head following a “scuffle” with the driver, said he only did what most other people on the street were trying to do.

00:00It hasn't sunk in, maybe it never will, but I'll do it again.
00:04Move! Move! Move! Move!
00:14That's just ruined and affected so many lives.
00:20I crawled inside, bear in mind all the screaming and shouting and panic,
00:26and as soon as I got into the back seat, he accelerated off and the door slammed immediately behind me,
00:34as far as I remember anyway. I remember seeing the automatic gear stick,
00:39so from the back seat I've reached through and I've pushed it as far as I could,
00:46as hard as I could, into P, which has brought the car to the start.

01:07And do the same. It's standard, I think it's standard that you've...
01:12to me that you do what you can.
01:16I don't think it's...
01:17...anything special. I know it sounds mad.
01:20It hasn't sunk in.
01:21Maybe it never will, but...
01:23I'll do it again.
01:25All right, thank you.
01:26All right.
01:28All right.
