Dan Barr received the High Sheriff’s Award for Bravery after stopping a car that drove into crowds during a Liverpool FC title parade.

00:00Daniel Barr, 41, was presented with the High Sheriff's Award for Bravery at Liverpool Crown Court for his intervention during
00:08last year's Liverpool FC title parade on the 26th of May, 2025.
00:13At the event, Paul Doyle, 54, drove into crowds on Water Street, injuring 134 people.
00:20Mr Barr, a former Royal Engineers soldier from Birkenhead, climbed into Doyle's car through the rear passenger window, moved the
00:29gear stick to park and helped bring the vehicle to a stop.
00:32Recorder Andrew Mennery Casey highlighted the importance of his actions for the injured, their families and emergency services, describing them
00:41as courageous and selfless.
00:43During the ceremony, Mr Barr received a framed certificate recognising his calm courage, concern for others and willingness to place
00:51himself in danger to reduce further harm.
00:54He also received a monetary award of £250.
00:58Mr Barr stated that he felt privileged and proud to be recognised.
