00:03The HBO drama's co-showrunner and director Miguel Sapochnik is stepping down from the series.
00:09Sources say Sapochnik is exiting the show after pouring into the Game of Thrones prequel for an exhausting three years.
00:16Co-creator Ryan Condell will now serve as the sole showrunner.
00:20Sapochnik has also entered into a first-look deal with HBO to develop new projects
00:24and will remain an executive producer on the series.
00:27Production has also hired another Thrones veteran, Alan Taylor,
00:31to serve as an executive producer and to direct multiple episodes.
00:35Sapochnik said in part,
00:36The move comes on the heels of the Dragon series premiere,
00:45which had 25 million viewers in its first week since release,
00:49and scoring the Game of Thrones prequel a quick season 2 renewal.
