00:00Still a bit warm here in Florida, but really, all things considered, a wonderful fall afternoon for football here in Tampa at Raymond James Stadium.
00:15Today it's week four, and we've got what should be a great one here, as it'll be the Philadelphia Eagles taking on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
00:30On the Eagles sideline, head coach Nick Sirianni. He's got his guys in midseason form already, an impressive 3-0 start to the year.
00:40Across from him on the Bucs sideline, Tom Bowles. His guys have also started 3-0, so this a battle between two of the hottest teams in football over the first month of the season.
00:53The pair of 3-0 teams set to lock horns for the right to remain unbeaten, and we're off in week four.
01:03And he'll go down as his drive will start at the 25-yard line. So out come the Bucs now for their first drive.
01:11They'll be let out by the number one overall pick in the 2018 draft, the Oklahoma Sooner, Baker Mayfield.
01:19And it felt like him watching the game tape. He got everyone involved last week, you know?
01:23He was a manager.
01:24He really was. It's a great way to put it, because they ran the ball some, they threw it accurately.
01:29One touchdown pass, so he didn't, you know, break the bank doing that, but he didn't throw any interceptions.
01:34That's the bottom line. That's why a defense loves a quarterback like that. Doesn't put them in bad situations.
01:41This running game's so important for them, and they know that. It helped lead them to a victory last week when he was over 100 yards.
01:47Let's face it, it's their identity. And that's what they want to play to. They want to be that team that runs the ball really well each and every week.
01:55You might see a pretty good pattern of that happening. Yeah, he stopped immediately there.
02:02And you see the numbers for Irving in last week's ball game. There isn't a coach alive who wouldn't like those numbers.
02:08Well over 100 yards and a touchdown, too.
02:11Partner, I think all the coaches who are in that great coaching box in the sky would take those numbers.
02:17So dead or alive. Either way, they would take that kind of production.
02:22Now he's going to step up and run toward the sideline. It's complete an athletic grab, but still well short of the first.
02:29They do get a couple, but they'll be left staring at a third and eight coming up.
02:42Play action now. Here's Mayfield.
02:45Will try and do this himself.

02:50And he has another first down as they'll get the ball down to the Eagles' 44-yard line.

03:19And, gosh, this early in the season, Charles, injuries already accumulating for this squad.
03:24You got to wonder, in this organization, are they just saying to themselves,
03:27the home player just getting out of the way early so they can make a late-season push when we have everyone back?
03:33It certainly feels that way with the number of injuries they've had already.
03:37Seventh play in the drive, forthcoming on third and eight.
03:41And now Mayfield on the bootleg.
03:45Will try and do this himself.
03:47Finding Sterling Shepard for his first catch.
03:51Give him a gain of five on the completion.
03:54And that's going to bring up a fourth down.

04:04And the Bucs take a three-nothing lead.
04:08So he's been automatic to this point of the season, and he connects on the field goal there.
04:13And what a luxury it is to have a kicker you can depend upon, partner, because he hasn't missed all year long.

04:44The second-round pick who started his career at Alabama, then finished with an electric senior season in Oklahoma.
04:50Led his team to one of the best regular seasons in the NFL last season.
04:54But really elevated his play during the postseason.
04:57And once again, he's a must during the Super Bowl.
05:00He's led his team to at least 11 wins in each of the last three seasons.
05:04He doesn't expect this year to be any different.

08:49You look at this Eagle defense.
08:51They are number two in the NFL against the run right now, Charles.
08:54Most of their challenges have come in the passing game because against the run,
08:58they've been pretty darn good.
09:00Now they've got to figure out a way to slow down those receivers before they get downfield
09:04and maybe make a few more plays on the ball when it's in the air.
09:08Now he'll dump it underneath to his running back complete.
09:11And this effort will not get it done.
09:14He's stopped well short of the first down at the 29.
09:17Dixon, the punter, is on as he sends it away.
09:26Fair catch, single four, and taken just shy of the 30-yard line.

09:45That's not what they wanted.
09:46They wanted six, but they got at least something.

13:29They want to see how the game's played that way.
13:31You know how I'm going to view it, right?
13:33The defenses, to me, have responded well in this game.
13:36Like what I'm seeing from them,
13:38both of them hoping to keep it to field goals and not give up the touchdowns.
13:42And able to get this out to the 25.
13:46Here comes the Tampa Bay offense now heading back out onto the field.
13:50Charles, a very uninspired effort.
13:52The last time we saw them out there was a quick three and out.
13:55Then they punted the football.
13:56Yeah, and you never want to get stopped so soundly during a series.
13:59But what would be even worse now is letting it happen again right here.
14:03They've got to get it going.
14:05And he is met in his tracks behind the line of scrimmage.
14:09They'll lose a yard there, and it's second and 11.
14:12Yeah, another negative play in an early down situation.
14:15This is going to start the drive.
14:17You're putting a lot of pressure on your quarterback to bail you out when you're in second and long yardage.
14:23Mayfield off the play fake.
14:26Now a run here off the RPO.
14:28He'll keep it.
14:29The flag comes in.
14:31It's incomplete.
14:32And I'm not sure he was still behind the line when he let that one go.
14:41Yeah, we kind of sensed that one.
14:43He got a little too far forward before throwing, and that one will set them back.
14:47And remember, at the NFL level, being aware of where the line of scrimmage is is crucial.
14:52And here's the other part.
14:54Any part of the quarterback's body that's near that line of scrimmage, he's going to get the benefit of the doubt.
14:59So he was clear over the line.
15:01The loss of a yard, and it brings up fourth.
15:05Fourth down, so on is the putter, Riley Dixon.
15:18Fair catch taken just inside the 40-yard line.
15:21A 40-yard punt, no return.
15:24And the Eagles will have it taking over first and 10.
15:31Already at the line, this Philly offense set to go.
15:36Their drive last time, it stalled out, and they were forced to take the short field goal.
15:40And the key phrase, you nailed it.
15:42Forced to, because you know coaches look at these short field goals as a last resort, right, to them.
15:48That's not how a driver's supposed to end.

16:29He got it barely as it will officially go down as a gain of five yards.

16:58It's going to be a gain of six on the keeper, but it leads to a third down.
17:06And that looked like some pretty easy yardage there right up the gut.
17:09And he's a guy that has some height to him.
17:11So when you don't have to drop a shoulder or create or get through contact or trash,
17:16makes it a lot easier to stay upright, see the field, and make a run as we just saw there.
17:21Could be four down territory even if they don't get this, but they need just a few inches here on third.
17:32Now this time he'll look to throw.
17:36These guys running back out of the backfield.
17:39And this is going to lead to another first down as the tackle's made at the Bucs' 24-yard line.

23:34In the game you're watching, it's been tight throughout.

24:08So the Eagles with the lead and they're going to get this football first as the third quarter gets underway.

24:28They're on a three-game winning streak and right now looking good in this one as well.

24:49Offensive linemen love creating space for their guys carrying the ball.

25:03Looking for a cutback lane but nothing there as he's met at the line of scrimmage.
25:09Only a yard there on the keeper and that's going to leave him with a third down.
25:13Still very early in the season, obviously, CD, but already key injuries that they've had to deal with.
25:20And what's really difficult for a team is to try and maintain their focus when they feel like they've been a little bit snakey.
25:25And it feels like every time they turn around, another injury pops up.
25:29How do they manage to hang together, get guys to put a little bit above their heads,
25:34and make sure that they're still afloat when their starters make it back.
25:38The Eagles send out their punter now as he's on to punt for the first time this afternoon.
25:44And the win last week punted four times as this one's away.
25:48Johnson to return it.
25:51They'll net only 35 here following a 43-yard boot, 8-yard return.
25:56And the Bucs will get ready to go on offense.
25:59Now we take a glance at the offense as they work their way back out
26:03for their first possession of the second half.
26:06And Charles, they're certainly still right in this game,
26:09but they need that offense to wake up and in a hurry.

26:13They certainly did seem to sleepwalk a bit in the first half.
26:16Now that their defense has done its job, it's their turn now to go out
26:20and try and get some breaks.
26:22And he'll be taken down, but not before they work it across midfield.

29:40In a hard way susceptible performance from these ace pass rushers.
29:44The Eagles send out their punter now.
29:47As he'll punt it away for the second time.
29:51His first punt, 45 yards.
29:53This looks good as well.
29:58A 40-yard punt, five yards on the return.
30:01And it will be first to 10 as they take over.
30:05And the Buccaneers getting ready to go as they take the field.
30:09And, Charles, they're certainly still right in this game.
30:12They need that offense to wake up and in a hurry.
30:14Yeah, I like the way you put it.
30:15They certainly did seem to sleepwalk a bit in the first half.
30:18Now that their defense has done its job, it's their turn now to go out and try and get some Bucs.
30:24And this is going to go to Bucs' first down as he's got this up to about the 34-yard line.
30:30That time a little misdirection really seemed to fool the defense.
30:34And think of it this way.
30:35From the time you're in high school, you're taught to watch, film, and pick up tendencies.
30:39Sometimes they can use those against you, though, when they break their own tendencies and hit you back the opposite direction.
30:45And he sneaks his way forward only for a couple here.
30:48Second down.
30:50That's just a pile of bodies there.
30:52And that's when you kind of find out who's a tough guy, right?
30:55Who can stand up and make a play?
30:56It was only a three-yard run.
30:58But for both sides, they had to walk away from that and feel like, okay, I can stand up when the goal gets tough in here.
31:05And he'll be taken down, but not before he works it past the 50.
31:09It's a gain of 14 yards.
31:10The result's a first down as the quick slant gets him 14.
31:14And that's a more than acceptable read right there because it's zone coverage, so timing is everything.
31:20This time he waits for his man to come open, puts it right on him, and he picked up the first down.
31:25And he edges forward, but only gets a pair of yards out of it.
31:29And it's second down.
31:31That's a good play by the guys on the defensive side of the ball.
31:34Held him to a gain of two.
31:35And that changes the playbook a little bit now for the guy calling plays.
31:39Second and eight.
31:40Now he's got to probably think about going to the air instead of maybe staying at the ground game.
31:45And he's going to have to eat this one as down he goes.
31:50They'll wind up losing ten on the sack.
31:53And it'll lead to a third and long.
31:57We'll see where they go for this play call.
31:59Obviously tough in this spot, backed up.

32:04Now Mayfield.
32:08That is caught.

32:10And he has another first down as he'll get the ball down to the Eagles' 39.

32:21And that's the kind of part his offense needs to maybe kick them into gear a little bit.
32:26They've been stuck in neutral much of the game.
32:28Perhaps that can give them a little bit of confidence that big plays are out there.

32:37He's immediately taken down at the line of scrimmage.
32:39No gain on the play there.

32:44You don't see that a ton, do you?
32:45With a cornerback coming over to the middle of the field to make a run tackle.
32:49That's someone with a ton of confidence to feel like nothing is pressuring him on his side of the field.
32:54Sees that the ball has moved to the middle and just sprints over there to help out.
32:59He ends up getting the tackle.
33:00Well played.
33:01And that'll fall incomplete.
33:03He was hit just as he let that go.
33:06And now it's third down.
33:08Now right where this set of downs started, they need a full ten here to pick up the first down and move the chains.
33:15Mayfield looks to throw.

33:18They set up the screen.
33:20And he gets this down inside the 35 before going out of bounds.
33:24And the attempt at three will have to come from the other end of the field as time has run out on this third corner.

34:26But now the entire defense has to pay the price and try and rise up and overcome it.
34:32Just a yard on the pick up there and it will bring up a second and none.
34:36We talk about defenders specifically linebackers keeping their eyes in the right spot.
34:41He had that eye down the entire time.
34:43And you know that's not easily done because they throw a lot of misdirection at you.
34:47They try and fool you and get your eyes in the wrong place.
34:51But you're right about that one.
34:52He correctly figured that one out and made a really nice play.
34:56We know it's not an easy job to go out and catch passes when people are trying to tackle you and knock the ball away.
35:01But the bottom line is that's a pass he's got to have and a pass he should have caught.
35:06This offense so far on third down they've struggled to the tune of two for eight so far.
35:11This is third and nine.
35:13Mayfield down.
35:15He'll get that out to the flat to right.
35:20Joey Scott for no gain.
35:23And it'll be fourth down.

35:43And it's so important for any offense to have an ace like him up their sleeve isn't it?

35:50And as soon as your offense gets there you're pretty much counting on three points going up on the board.
35:54Now this one's setting up for a great finish.

42:42But it also right now ties him with Hall of Famer Fred Belenikoff.
42:46And we remember Fred Belenikoff well because of the way he went about his business in catching the football.
42:51And we're seeing something similar here.
42:52Someone who runs precise routes, has excellent hands, and knows how to get the ball to the end zone.

49:37Turn around and make sure the quarterback sees your numbers and set yourself up for the pass.

49:50And he gets forward up to Miller, but only for a couple would it be second down.

49:58because not only does it take up the space and let the linebackers run free,
50:02they can also make plays himself as we just saw there.
50:08Straight ahead, it's Irving.
50:10And he stopped immediately there.
50:12Two runs in a row, but only two yards to show for him.
50:16Well done to sniff that out defensively.
50:18He had it diagnosed pretty quickly.
50:20I love that description because diagnosed is perfect on that one.
50:24Read his keys, made the play, and he couldn't even get going moving the football.

50:38Another nice job there defensively.
50:40They've really stymied their passing attention, and it continues in overtime.
50:44And for them to do that, that means they've had to be cohesive on defense.

50:50Good coverage of not just the wide receivers, but the tight end, the running backs when they try and slip out.
50:55And making sure they're at the point of attack.
50:58When the ball's in the air, they get there and help force some of those incompletions.
51:02They're able to put three on the board here on the opening drive of OT, and now up to their defense to try and see if they can hold this one.
51:10I like how you framed it up because obviously this game is not over, right?
51:14They go down and kick a field goal, then we head to sudden death.
51:17But if the defense can hold, take the ball away, turn it over on downs, this game's over.
51:23And he returns this to the 22.
51:27Philadelphia getting sent to take the field.
51:30Well, it's pretty simple now.
51:32They need a field goal out of this drive to extend overtime, or obviously a touchdown will win it.
51:46Now a first throw here in overtime.

51:52And his play caller does a nice job of giving it an easy throw to start this drive, and he takes advantage of it.
51:59The completion sets up a manageable second down.
