00:15But the Kansas City Chiefs losing to the Los Angeles Chargers
00:18officially ended their playoff chances.
00:21They are eliminated flatly.
00:24Before the final three weeks of the season,
00:26we know the Chiefs who have been to the AFC Championship game
00:31every single season with Patrick Mahomes as the starter
00:36don't make the playoffs this year.
00:40And what, there are so many things we can point to as to why, right?
00:47And I know some injuries hit this team.
00:50I think it is very important to understand that this is a group
00:53who has lost five of six, and they were favored
00:57in every single one of those games, and all but one of them, Joe,
01:04favored by more than a field goal.
01:07So, we can talk why, and not that you were going to give them,
01:11but I guess this is for people in other places.
01:15There should be no excuses here.
01:17This is a nightmare of a season from the Kansas City Chiefs.
01:23We'll get to the Mahomes injury, no doubt.
01:25But this team missing the playoffs is not excusable.
01:29No, it's not.
01:30And I'll point to the offense, and the defense kept them in it
01:33the last two weeks against Houston and Sunday against the L.A. Chargers.
01:38But the offensive identity, all we heard at the start of the year
01:41when Mahomes was putting up numbers,
01:43and even though they weren't winning as much as they used to,
01:46was that this was an MVP type of caliber season for Pat Mahomes.
01:50And when the chips were in the middle of the table
01:52with two critical matchups, they failed to step up.
01:55They couldn't beat the Bills on the road.
01:57The offensive conservativeness, I'll say,
02:00with Andy Reid and Matt Nagy is unbelievable.
02:05It's remarkable when you think that you have potentially
02:08the best quarterback modern day in the NFL
02:10in Pat Mahomes with three Super Bowls,
02:13and Andy Reid and Matt Nagy are afraid,
02:16afraid to take the governor off the offense.
02:19I've said it.
02:20You had a healthy Marquise Brown this year.
02:23You had Xavier Worthy, an emerging star that came on
02:26at the end of the regular season.
02:28Travis Kelsey potentially was in his best shape of his life, right?
02:32Rasheed Rice came back in the middle part of the year
02:34that rejuvenated that offense.
02:37There was no excuse for this offense not to put up
02:41at least 24 points per game.
02:44When you look at the year that L.A. and Matt Stafford have had,
02:49that should be a similar type of productivity,
02:52and you could only blame it on two people,
02:54Matt Nagy and the head coach, Andy Reid.
02:57And what I'm saying is this.
03:03There were glaring weaknesses prior to this season, right,
03:08where we said this offense wasn't the same,
03:13but their defense kept them in it.
03:15Pat Mahomes was more of a game manager, right?
03:18And then all of a sudden we saw the emergence of Xavier Worthy
03:21at the end of the regular season.
03:22They got knocked around by the Eagles in the Super Bowl,
03:25and they had a fresh, healthy group, minus Rasheed Rice,
03:30and they were scoring much more at the start of the year
03:33than they are now.
03:34So I think the thing for Kansas City is this is,
03:38sometimes we talk about Super Bowl hangovers, right?
03:41And it's usually to the losing team.
03:44The Kansas City Chiefs last year put forward
03:46one of the most successful, concerning seasons we've ever seen.
03:50They lost one regular season game with starters.
03:54They went to the Super Bowl.
03:57And despite that, I was a little bit man on an island.
04:01This doesn't look right.
04:02They keep beating bad teams by walk-off field goals
04:06blocked or made by them.
04:09And this should be better.
04:11And specifically the quarterback,
04:13who is a consensus top five player at his position ever,
04:20much less presently,
04:22who hasn't looked like that
04:24outside of a couple of moments in years now.
04:28And they were smashed by the Eagles.
