snowblower
Transcript
00:00Welcome to the chilly night and my garage. Actually I built myself, my brother and my friend, three lofts.
00:18But today, it's on the snowblower. The snowblower must prepare. Now this one's going to be tough because you need the light.
00:32But, if you ever have the snowblower and the blade doesn't turn, check in back.
00:48Because I found this piece of wood there. The past couple years, I've been trying to move it with my hand.
00:55I thought it was just locked up from the gear. The one side worked. So that's what this video is about.
01:03One side doesn't work, one side works. I've put bands on it.
01:09But you can see that small hole there. The problem I have is inside that hole, you'll see part of a nail.
01:18Um, I've used nails over the years. I didn't know about the pegs for the snowblowers until my brother told me about it.
01:29But, uh, there's the peg right there on the ground.
01:32So I got the peg.
01:35But, I'm going to probably spend more time trying to get that hole cleared out.
01:42Um, you can see it spins freely now.
01:49But, you've got to line up the hole with the other hole.
01:58And eventually, I'm hoping that nail will come out.
02:03Um, let's see if I can do this here.
02:12I can, I can, I'm able to get it from the back.
02:21Maybe I'll have to use a punch.
02:27But these bolts, or pegs, are made.
02:31So when they break,
02:33they don't stay in.
02:36Like the, the nails that I've been putting in.
02:39And, you know, these ends break off.
02:41But, uh, the peg, uh,
02:45will always be sticking out so you can take pliers to it.
02:49So right now,
02:50if, uh,
02:52I didn't have the peg,
02:53I would use this.
02:58You know,
02:59but the thing is, once,
03:01try not to use that.
03:03Because once that breaks,
03:05um,
03:07then that'll be wrapped around the metal in there.
03:10Um, so it'll only work for a while
03:13until the next rock you hit,
03:14or hard ice.
03:18Um,
03:19better just fix it correctly.
03:21But,
03:22I remember this thing,
03:23brand new,
03:25was so good,
03:28I could actually, uh,
03:31shovel a path for the mailman,
03:32right across the lawn.
03:34I mean,
03:36doing my neighbors,
03:37I can't do that anymore
03:38because I gotta keep going right
03:40in a circle,
03:42or left in a circle,
03:45um,
03:46just because the one side works.
03:49So before the snow,
03:52I'm gonna keep you updated on this,
03:55on what I used to get it out,
03:57or if it fell out.
03:58And that'll be this video.
04:04The short one today.
04:07Um,
04:07we also have the rider mower.
04:11I've changed the blade.
04:15I've changed
04:16the, uh,
04:20uh,
04:21battery went out years ago.
04:25Now you can see I got,
04:27let me get this down here.
04:33Uh,
04:34power pack.
04:35I haven't used a,
04:38a real,
04:38real battery in years
04:40for this.
04:41The power pack seems to have,
04:43uh,
04:44just buy one of those
04:45because I always need the power pack.
04:47Um,
04:48that's the way to,
04:49get around that.
04:52The engines in these
04:54snowblower and
04:55lawn tractors still,
04:57they work
04:59after many years,
05:00over a decade.
05:03So,
05:05this chute over here
05:09needs to be repaired.
05:13Um,
05:14I've used duct tape.
05:15It's,
05:16it's gone.
05:16You can see the
05:20grass sticking out.
05:23That,
05:23that comes up.
05:24That's not good.
05:25That could
05:25shoot you in the arm
05:27or the hand
05:28or wherever.
05:29Uh,
05:30you know,
05:30stones come up
05:31through there.
05:33So,
05:33the best thing
05:34is to just
05:34to buy a new tube
05:35there.
05:37But,
05:38uh,
05:38to lay that thing
05:43down
05:44and
05:46disconnect it
05:47to change the blades.
05:49Wow,
05:49what a job that is.
05:51I actually had to lift
05:53the front of the tractor
05:55because I couldn't get it
05:56to slide out.
05:58I'll have to still learn that.
06:01But,
06:02uh,
06:02changed the blades
06:03twice
06:04on that.
06:05That whole guard
06:06is gone too.
06:07you can see the,
06:08see the
06:10chips
06:12and the ends
06:13just rusted out.
06:18But,
06:19well,
06:20maybe a new
06:20lawn tractor
06:21someday.
06:23Just doesn't seem
06:24to be around
06:25right now.
06:27And that's
06:28the video
06:28for today,
06:29folks.
06:31Enjoy your,
06:32uh,
06:32garage toys.
