00:00made a video in a while had some car problems is a 2007 Ford Focus and the
00:12brakes went I'm gonna tell you what I've learned from a lot of your videos out
00:25there one sec first with these Fords they have the special caps for the nuts to get
00:36the tire off the first thing I did you can see these bent up caps went out and got
00:47the lug nuts or got them as a gift anyhow that started me off
00:58there I got the two-ton jack also a gift now this four-way I used since I was a
01:09teenager and none of these would work I tried a lot of sockets that wouldn't work
01:16but with the lug nuts got them off very easy make sure you know where your jack
01:26points are and this right here is a wheel cylinder
01:43and I noticed the brakes were shot at the same time
01:53so after I took the tire off and I'll tell you I needed to go around the tire it was
02:03so rusted on
02:06a little hammer screwdriver or chisel whatever you have and spray some of this
02:17PB blaster or you could use WD-40 PB blaster should take more of the rust and if you have
02:26to leave it on
02:27overnight do so it's a good tip right there have a container or something so if
02:35you're leaking brake fluid you can put it back in I used a little shot glass or a
02:45little jar here and then as it filled up you know what if you can get the lines out
02:53then you can pour it into the container then this cap comes off so let's go out to the car
03:01and I'll show
03:01you there this here was the problem there's two threaded nuts at the end I just went to Napa for
03:15nine ten
03:15dollars and the screws were already already on you have to bend it this is for this last part anyhow
03:28now
03:28there's other videos I seen that take this part this is like a you pull this out with pliers and
03:40then
03:40there's another part going there there's plenty of videos out there or on YouTube I seen but maybe
03:48there's nothing on daily motion here we got the solenoid I put in again this screws in the back PB
04:02blaster
04:05and these rear adjusters are very expensive you're supposed to be able to put a screwdriver
04:16in between here and it wasn't moving now you can see it's moving a little and as these come together
04:25you can push your brake shoes in this is to be able to get the drum on and this spring
04:36here take a good
04:37look take pictures of which end goes where which hook goes in which groove because there's two different
04:48style hook so you don't want to mess that up right here and there's another one here's the two clips
04:57now on
04:58the other side I used the screwdriver to take these off and these pins are put they come in back
05:12a lot of videos
05:14on there this bottom spring here that comes out and this is your emergency brake cable and you have to
05:24take
05:24pliers to two pliers how it fits in there you see and you pull the spring with one pair of
05:34pliers and it'll show
05:36the thin part of the wire that goes from the big space right here so you can slide it over
05:47to the small space and it sort of
05:50flips around so make sure when you take this off you know to put it back on you know it's
05:58along the back side this is in the bag flip it out
06:02front and then you can pry up on the brake pads get your new pads in and they'll have since
06:12you have
06:12more pads you want to be able like I said was to push this in where the drum won't go
06:18back on
06:22okay now we're working on bleeding the bleeder screw in the back here with stepping on the pedal but the
06:31thing
06:31with this is the drum won't come off and they had to take the there's the wire back there for
06:40the
06:42PBA or you know that thing on your dashboard or the a a something okay that cable is inside I'm
07:00gonna show
07:01you that right now and you can see that goes on this side and it plugs into a wire back
07:10there that I
07:11haven't seen yet but uh okay let's go back in the garage here's that wire here you can see that
07:23goes
07:25plugs in that should be an easy plug-in and here's the little bolt that goes on
07:43where's the slot here okay you can see you need the tool
07:55or first I bought some pry bars when the tire came off you could see how rusted it was so
08:04you can put
08:05spray some cleaner on there or whatever and you put this tool on here just like that it'll fit one
08:22away and then this just happen to be the same size on the four-way
08:34see that but you put a couple lug nuts on first let's see where's the lug nut like right here
08:43one and two
08:46tighten them down and then this point will push the drum off now this is like my second time doing
08:59it
09:00I did brakes long long ago but uh that was easier than hitting it with a hammer or whatever it
09:08came came
09:09right off this is the spindle and where I had to tap out the ABS I hope I'm saying it
09:22right see how that
09:27went right through the hole there like so and just lightly tap it on the other side
09:35and I have the four screws for the spindle as well and that screw that just dropped here
09:44it goes right in there
09:48so now I want to try to put this back on the car or when I have time and try
09:56to separate the spindle
09:58because I have a new one coming from geeks uh this I don't know if it has the ABS or
10:05the
10:07or not I hope so because then the light would stay on on my car
10:13um
10:16and the drum is coming a new drum but the other one
10:20I got off and there was no damage to it so I I just put it back on so I
10:27already did the other side
10:29and the tires back on and everything now the tools that I bought that you guys had on your videos
10:40and here's uh 1314 what see the end there that'll help you out here's another one
10:50that doesn't have the three points on the end though and here's uh 11
11:00then this socket set that I've had forever
11:04you got the smaller ones here since the latch broke off um you press these in
11:15so the brake shoes hit this
11:20and you can get them closer so your
11:25the drum will go back on easier and I bought these
11:32little liquid wrench when I didn't have nothing at first
11:38um here's the pliers I use one of these to uh stretch that emergency brake hold it with one
11:47and have the other pull it down to show the wire on the emergency brake
11:53then put it in and let it go and this here an extender half inch I bought with uh
12:08some say 30 and this is a 29 so I hammered not a little with this to take that nut
12:16off
12:17so after the tire comes off that's under here
12:25then you pop this out with a screwdriver
12:32and this is not here
12:36took off with that tool nice leverage I'm glad I bought it and here's some pry bars
12:44here's a big one
12:47here's a big one we'll reuse both of these it's got the little caps on it
12:55you can see
12:58gives you some nice leverage there like if you don't have one of those um pullers
13:06then you would probably use a couple of these but it's really tough
13:12okay and here's the brakes
13:16show you here's the good side one side usually bigger than the other at least on this
13:29that one still has a little pad on it but I have a couple more
13:33that are inside that right down to the metal so I actually
13:40I'm good there hope it all works out
13:47and maybe I'll make another video
13:51here's the uh where the bleeder screw goes in if you're changing the wheel cylinder
14:03and make sure the threads when you go to the store to get the pipe I mean they sell them
14:11on ebay and stuff
14:11but they're real expensive it's just a ten dollar part
14:16for that back that back one and here we had to cut the bolts here
14:24see that because there's no way even with lubrication uh the nut worked but
14:31yeah it was just rusted on the inside okay
14:35hope that helps you out there and as I know more you will know more thanks for watching the video
14:42take care
