00:00In Venezuela Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez denounced the theft of the
00:16Venezuelan oil tanker and the kidnapping of its crew. The Honduran Prosecutor's Office has
00:24released new audio recordings that will be investigated for election crimes amid allegations
00:29of fraud. And the International Forum on Peace and Trust kicked off in Turkmenistan on Friday
00:38with the participation of representatives from more than 30 countries. Hello, welcome to From
00:46the South. I'm Luis Alberto Matos from Dele Sue Studios in Havana, Cuba. We begin with the news.
00:59In Venezuela Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez denounced the theft of the Venezuelan oil tanker and the
01:08kidnapping of its crew whose whereabouts are known. During the celebration of the 47th anniversary of
01:13the Integrated Area Space Defense Command, the Defense Minister emphasized that the Venezuelan
01:19people have remained united in perfect military police and popular union against US imperialism,
01:23its lies and destructive actions. Padrino also stated that the U.S. government has fabricated
01:28stories about Venezuela, accusing the Bolivarian nation of releasing people from prisons and mental
01:33hospitals to send them to the U.S., which he described as a lack of respect towards the Venezuelan
01:38people. In his regard, Defense Minister Padrino Lopez said that the Bolivarian National Armed Forces must
01:43fulfill their duty to defend the country's maritime, aerial and territorial sovereignty.
01:48On Thursday in Venezuela, the Ministry of Interior, Justice and Peace reported that the United States
01:57government unilaterally decided to suspend the repatriation flights for the Venezuelan national
02:02schedule for this Friday. The flights cancellation interrupts a process that had been developed in a
02:07coordinated manner to facilitate the safe return of detained or irregular nationals in the United States.
02:13In regard, Venezuelan authorities pointed out that the measure creates uncertainty among families,
02:18who were looking forward to the reunion. The Venezuelan government is confident that
02:22Washington will reverse the decision and resume the repatriation plan. At the same time,
02:27it reiterated its willingness to receive its citizens and guarantee support for their
02:31reintegration, reaffirming its commitment to protect Venezuelans inside and outside the country.
02:36Meanwhile, in the United States, senior Democrat lawmakers condemned the Trump administration's
02:46increasingly aggressive military actions in the Caribbean, following the seizure of a Venezuelan
02:50oil tanker off the South American country's coast. Several Democrat senators draw attention to the
02:56attacks allowed by the U.S. government and questioned the seizure order, an action they believe could lead
03:01to war with Venezuela. Maryland Senator Chris Van Hollen warned the seizure indicates that the White House is
03:06being dishonest about its military operations in the region and called for a congressional vote on the
03:12president's actions. In addition, Van Hollen assured Trump's alleged war on drugs is an excuse to
03:17interfere in Venezuela's internal affairs.
03:20I think it's an escalation. You could look at just that and say, well, what about the rationale for that?
03:29But it's all part of a pattern. You know, the boat strikes, the threats, land invasion could be next, seizing the oil tanker.
03:35So it is an escalation. And it, you know, continues to demonstrate Congress needs to take this up.
03:42We haven't had a single public hearing either in foreign relations or armed services.
03:46And we shouldn't be at war without a vote of Congress.
03:49Their claims that this is about going after drugs or holding people accountable for drugs is just a bunch of nonsense.
03:54It's a cover story. And what happened with the ship is an example of how that's just a cover story.
04:01The real goal here is clearly regime change in Venezuela and accomplishing regime change by force.
04:08And if that is the case, this requires, obviously, congressional action.
04:16And on Thursday, the United Kingdom Labor Party member of Parliament, Jeremy Corbyn,
04:20called on Prime Minister Keir Starmer's government to speak out against the serious act of piracy
04:25perpetrated by the United States against Venezuela.
04:28Doesn't the minister think responsible for the government is extraordinarily low-key,
04:32acquiescent to a declaration by the U.S. that it gives itself the right to interfere
04:37in the internal affairs of any country around the world that it thinks it doesn't agree with?
04:43This is an extraordinary state of affairs. And will she make any comment on the,
04:47what is actually an act of piracy by the U.S. in the Caribbean by seizing an oil tanker
04:53and taking it into its custody with no basis in international law for that action,
04:58no basis on any kind of military threat to the United States being made.
05:02And it seems to me to be wholly illegal within it.
05:06And on Thursday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baguay condemned the U.S. action as illegal
05:12and unjustified. One day after the seizure, Baguay declared that invoking U.S. domestic laws and
05:17unlawful sanctions to justify such an action can in no way alter the illegal and criminal nature of
05:22the armed robbery at sea. Moreover, Baguay stressed that the United States seizure and
05:27confiscation of commercial vessels belonging to other countries constitute a blatant disregard for
05:31international law and a gross violation of the principles governing the security and safety
05:36of international navigation.
05:42And the Chinese Foreign Ministry rejected the unilateral sanctions imposed by the United States
05:46against six of its oil tankers following the seizure of the Venezuelan oil tanker.
05:51In this context, the Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jia-kun said that the unilateral illegal measures
05:56imposed by the White House pose a threat to national security and violate international law.
06:00The spokesman also assured that China opposes the abusive use of so-called sanctions
06:05as a tool for political or economic pressure. Since the United States began its military deployment
06:10in the Caribbean near Venezuela, China has rejected interference in internal affairs that affect
06:14sovereignty, security, and stability following its strategic partnership with Caracas.
06:23Colombian President Gustavo Petro denounced the United States' intention to interfere in the
06:27upcoming elections in the South American country. The Colombian head of state made this accusation
06:32after statements by the Governor of the Department of Antioquia about his visit to the United States
06:36and Trump's threats to his administration. The Colombian leader is suspicious of the frequent
06:41visits by Colombian politicians to U.S. territory and points out that the Trump administration is
06:45seeking to interfere in some way in the upcoming 2026 elections. Petro has been one of the most critical
06:51voices of the Trump administration following the attacks in the Caribbean and Pacific waters,
06:56where more than 80 civilians were killed, increasing the tensions between Washington and Bogota.

07:14Welcome back. New Honduran Prosecutor's Office has released new audio recordings that will be
07:21investigated for election crimes amid allegations of fraud. The investigation focuses on three new
07:26audio recordings attributed to the counsel of the National Electoral Council, Cosette Lopez,
07:30which suggests an alleged plan to control voting records and coordinate with political actors to
07:35influence the results of the general elections on November 30th. The spokesperson for the Public
07:39Prosecutor's Office, Yuri Moda, explained that one of the audio files reveals that vote counting records
07:43were altered in the interest of the National Party. In addition, alleged instructions related to
07:51transmission systems parallel to those of the National Electoral Council are also mentioned.
08:06We are here with the Specialized Unit Against Electoral Crimes because new audio recording has been
08:12received by the Public Prosecutor's Office. As criminal evidence, they must be investigated. That is why
08:18we have called you here today, as these are new investigations. These are new audio recordings
08:24that the Prosecutor's Office or the Specialized Unit Against Electoral Crimes will look into.
08:33In Ecuador, seven ministers from President Novoa's administration are reported to the contentious
08:38electoral court, violating the silence period prior to the November 16th consultative process.
08:43This later, for the Citizens Revolutionary Movement, Christian Hernandez accused the seven
08:47magistrates of influencing voters during the election blackout period. In this regard, Hernandez
08:52emphasized that the ministers committed an electoral violation by sharing their electoral preferences
08:56in the digital media. For its part, the National Electoral Council pointed out that the body
09:01cannot control campaigns on social media during the election silence period and therefore could not
09:05sanction this conduct. In Haiti, 43 national police officers lost their lives between January and
09:16November 2025 in the fight against criminal groups. Haitian authorities reported the death of police
09:22officers in the line of duty amidst the intense wave of violence facing the Caribbean country. Also added
09:28to the list of casualties are seven soldiers from the Haitian Armed Forces and two agents from the former
09:32Mutant National Security Support Force. In this sense, the insecurities resulting from violent actions by
09:37criminal groups and institutional collapse have kept the nation in a deep social crisis in recent years.
09:48In Bolivia, the Prosecutor's Office investigating an alleged embezzlement of the Indigenous Fund has
09:53requested three months of preventive detention for former President Luis Arce, who was arrested Wednesday in
09:58in La Paz. Analysts warned that reviving this case may amount to an early act of political persecution by the new
10:03government. A correspondent, Freddy Morales, has the details.
10:09Former President Luis Arce remains in custody at this police facility following his arrest on Wednesday.
10:16The Prosecutor handling the case has requested that he be held for three months in a prison located 30 kilometers outside the city.
10:23The investigations established responsibility on the part of Mr. Luis Arce as former minister,
10:32since he was the one who financed, executed, and approved disbursements into private accounts for projects that we
10:38never completed. As for the economic damage based on the documentation currently held by the Public Prosecutor's Office,
10:44we are talking about nine minutes, but that's only a preliminary figure. The total amount is still no.
10:49The investigation into the case known as the Indigenous Fund dates back more than eight years,
10:58and has already been examined both in court and by the Legislative Assembly. It has now been reopened with
11:04former President Luis Arce as the main accused, along with arrest warrants issued for five other individuals.
11:10We don't want to believe that the government of Rodrigo Paz carried out this arrest as smoking to cover up the crisis
11:17that continues to affect the Bolivian people. We're still standing in lines, this is still shorter of a few,
11:25and this is what this should be focusing on.
11:28Political analysis has warned that the arrest of former President Luis Arce to reopen investigations was an early and ill-advised decision.
11:38Rodrigo Paz has repeatedly said that first there should be an investigation and then prosecution.
11:46It is that first there should be an investigation and then prosecution.
11:50But in this case, what has been done is to first arrest the former President and now, presumably, investigate.
12:01I do not believe that this is a viable political course of action.
12:04Following the arrest of the former President, allies of the center-right government launched a campaign
12:14calling for former President Evo Morales, who governed the country in 2018, to also be included in the case, and detained.
12:22Evo Morales is also being summoned, initially as a witness. But when a prosecutor says, first as a witness,
12:31it is clear that later he'll be treated as a defendant. It is unfortunate that the Paz Pereira government
12:36has chosen to take these accelerated steps at a time when it could have played a different role.
12:42The administration has a very contradictory internal composition. It is not a cohesive government.
12:48It even has a major rival within its own ranks, the Vice President himself. I believe this is
12:54a political mistake, regardless of the legal form they try to give it.
13:03Conflicting figures surround the Indigenous Fund case. The Minister of Government stated that there was
13:09mismanagement of about 50 million dollars, a sum that could rise to 700 million, and said former
13:15President Luis Sars would face charges for five crimes. In contrast, the prosecutor's indictment
13:22cites to alleged offenses, and an economic loss of just over one million dollars.
13:32In Nicaragua, the Ministry of Development, Industry and Trade reported record exports.
13:37The country earned eight billion dollars in the areas from January to November 2025.
13:43According to the Ministry's Director of Foreign Trade, Maricruz Pietro, the figure represents a 16%
13:48increase in the same period in 2024. According to the report, exports total almost five billion
13:53dollars in the general regime alone, excluding free trade zones, which is another historic high
13:58for that segment. Although December has yet to be accounted for, the institution maintains
14:03verbal expectations regarding export growth. Among the most dynamic products are coffee, beef, gold,
14:09textiles, and lobster. We have now our second break coming up. Before we invite you to visit our

14:39Welcome back. The International Forum on Peace and Trust kicked off in Turkmenistan on Friday with the
14:44participation of representatives from more than 30 countries, including regional heads of states and
14:48government. Dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust and the 30th anniversary of the
14:53declaration of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan. The forum's agenda includes debates, plenaries,
14:58and a series of parallel high-level bilateral meetings. Discussions are focused on the search
15:02for consensus-based solutions to international problems and the implementation of multilateral
15:07agreements. In this scenario, the Russian President Blind reporting praised the meeting's final document,
15:11known as the Ashgabat Declaration, highlighting its commitment to peace, non-interference,
15:16and respect for nations' right to self-determination.
15:26I would like to highly appreciate the draft Ashgabat Declaration prepared by our Turkmen colleagues.
15:31It is intended to be an important outcome of our joint work during this forum. Russia unequivocally
15:38support this document and its firm commitment to the key principle of the international relation
15:44enshrined in the UN Charter. This includes the commitment to peaceful relations and non-interference
15:50in internal affairs, as well as respect for the rise of all nations and peoples to pursue their own
15:56models of growth and development, their own worldviews, traditions, and religions.
16:05Also in the context of the Forum on Peace and Trust, a meeting took place between Russia and President
16:09Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The leaders discussed the European
16:14Union's attempts to confiscate Russian assets to support Ukraine. In this regard, President Putin
16:18informed Erdogan of a plan to counter these measures. There is a call that the Russian Central Bank
16:22reported that it had filed a lawsuit against EuroClear, the financial services company based in
16:27Belgium, which controls 185 million euros in Russian assets, which it intends to use without Moscow's consent.
16:39In other topics, in Italy, the General Confederation of Labour is leading a general strike to demand
16:44labour rights. The action includes strikes in the transportation health and education sectors,
16:50as well as demonstrations and rallies in all regions of the country. In this scenario,
16:54workers reject the Italian government's current budget plan and demand wage and pension increases,
16:59an end to the increase in the retirement age and elimination of precarious work. In addition,
17:04the strike seeks to redirect funds allocated to military spending to priority areas such as health
17:10and education, and calls from the government to implement effective policies for the industrial and
17:15non-service sectors.
17:27In Palestine, a severe storm hit the Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours, killing over 10 people
17:45and injuring several more due to the collapse of buildings and flooding. Civil defense teams in Gaza
17:50reported that at least 10 houses collapsed due to the storm. The low-pressure system also caused flooding in
17:55camps in Han Yunis and damage to wide areas of Gaza City. In addition, the storm affected shelters and
18:02buildings, many of which have damage due to Israeli attacks. In this scenario, the United Nations denounced
18:07that the Stalinist regime is blocking the entry of essential materials needed to repair and reinforce
18:12shelters in the face of continuous rain and mitigate flooding in the settlements.
18:17The Israeli military launched several airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Friday amid its ongoing violation of the
18:28agreed ceasefire. Southern East occupation troops conducted the attacks with warplanes and drones,
18:34along with intense low-altitude flights. The Miso's hit area such as the Autufa region, the Rihan Highlands,
18:40Jabal al-Rafi, and the outskirts of the Slaya territory in the western Breka Valley. The strikes are part of
18:46Israel's continued violations of the recreation of the cessation of facilities, established on November 27, 2024.
