00:00had the worst four-day run of any team in the NFL this year.
00:05If you're trying to win, I think, your fifth consecutive division title
00:09and lock up a playoff berth and another home playoff game,
00:13which they've done every year for the last four years,
00:15how do you lose back-to-back games in four days
00:18to the New Orleans Saints and the Atlanta Falcons?
00:21Can somebody please walk me through that?
00:24It's impossible.
00:27A couple bad fumbles late.
00:29The Baker made for the interception with eight minutes to go.
00:32And then when you've got the game locked up in one,
00:36you're up by 14 points in the fourth quarter against an offense,
00:40although better with Kirk Cousins, certainly,
00:43that has been zero all year long.
00:46How do you blow a 14-point lead in the final 10 minutes of a game
00:51that really amounted in a lot of ways to a playoff game
00:54because the Carolina Panthers are lurking?
00:56And Carolina right now is a half game ahead of you.
00:59And if it ended today, which it doesn't, obviously,
01:02Tampa Bay is not playing postseason football,
01:05and they've given up the division to a dwarf quarterback
01:08and the Carolina Panthers?
01:11Like, that's going to happen right now?
01:13The other thing about this game that made it almost unwatchable
01:17outside of, you know, the poor play, the turnovers, all that stuff,
01:20the Atlanta Falcons, and I am not exaggerating this,
01:24and it was impossible to watch,
01:26and I don't even want to blame the referees for it
01:29because every replay confirmed that the call they made was the right call.
01:33Yeah.
01:3519 penalties.
01:36That is not an exaggeration.
01:39The Atlanta Falcons committed 19 penalties last night
01:43and still found a way to win with a Kirk Cousins miracle drive.
01:47Now, let's talk about that drive for a second
01:49because Todd Bowles is a defensive-minded coach.
01:52Yes.
01:53He was a defensive coordinator prior to becoming head coach in New York,
01:56and then, of course, down to Tampa,
01:58was their D.C. before he became their head coach,
02:01Tom Brady era, right?
02:04It's a fourth and 23rd and 28 final drive of the game
02:09for the Atlanta Falcons.
02:11Third and 28.
02:13On third down, they're in some kind of weird zone defense,
02:17no pressure at all on Kirk Cousins,
02:20and everybody's open.
02:22It's impossible.
02:23And they gained 14 yards.
02:24Right, so they get half.
02:25So they get half.
02:26So they get half.
02:27Game on the line, maybe the season on the line.
02:30It's now fourth and 14.
02:32And again, no pressure at all on Kirk Cousins.
02:37Everybody's wide open,
02:38and they convert and get a first down to keep the drive alive
02:42to kick the field goal, obviously,
02:44to ultimately win the game.
02:46And I'm watching it going,
02:47this game's a wrap, guys.
02:49It's third and 28,
02:51and Kirk Cousins can't move.
02:53Can't move at all.
02:54So if you blitz, he cannot escape.
02:56He has no escapability left.
02:57He's on one leg.
02:58And I'm saying to myself,
02:59okay, so no pressure on Kirk Cousins.
03:01I think that's stupid.
03:03And it's, again, prevent defense prevents you from winning.
03:06But then the flip side of it is,
03:07if you're dropping everybody back,
03:09which is essentially what they did,
03:11or it appeared to me that they did,
03:13how is everybody wide open?
03:16Everybody.
03:16Like, I honestly think in that spot,
03:19and again, I'm well known for having a howitzer for an arm.
03:22Everybody knows that right now.
03:24Like, I honestly.
03:26More than Kirk Cousins.
03:27More than Kirk Cousins, for sure.
03:29I honestly think I could have completed one of those passes
03:33on third and 28 and fourth and 14.
03:36It was mind-boggling.
03:37That was legitimately pitching catch football, wasn't it?
03:40It was late,
03:41and they allowed the tight end, Pitts,
03:43to have his career best game.
03:44You can't let that happen.
03:46He had three touchdowns.
03:46He had like 900 yards.
03:47The last time a tight end had that many yards
03:50and three touchdowns was 1996.
03:52That's a long time.
03:53That's a long time.
03:5330 years ago.
03:5430 years ago.
03:55Shannon Sharp was the last time a tight end
03:57had that many yards and three touchdowns.
03:58And by the way,
03:59while the Falcons aren't playing for anything
04:01other than to be the spoilers here,
04:02and I respect that.
04:03They didn't roll over and die.
04:04They fought back.
04:05And there's certainly a better team
04:06than Kirk Cousins playing.
04:08And he's their quarterback next year.
04:10He should be, at least.
04:11But that's another story for another day.
04:13Todd Bowles is also known
04:14as one of the most mild-mannered,
04:17I'd say easy-going,
04:18but mild-mannered head coaches
04:20in football history.
04:22I want to play something for you,
04:23and I acknowledge there's a lot of beeps.
04:25More so, and I know Todd,
04:28and I'm friendly with Todd.
04:29At least I was when he was with the Jets,
04:31and I like him a great deal.
04:32I have never in my life
04:34heard Todd Bowles speak this way.
04:35And I respect it.
04:37This is Todd Bowles
04:38after they blow a 14-point lead
04:41in the fourth quarter.
04:43You had fumbles.
04:44You had the Baker interception.
04:46And you had a defense
04:47that had no idea what he was doing
04:49on the final two plays
04:51prior to the field goal.
04:52Here's Todd Bowles.
04:54I say unedited.
04:55We had to beep it so we could air it.
04:57That's the only edit in this.
04:59And you'll be shocked by it.
05:00Go ahead.
05:01What do you tell them
05:01in the locker room after a game like this?
05:03It's inexcusable.
05:04You don't make excuses.
05:06You've got to f***ing care enough
05:08where the s*** hurts.
05:10You've got to f***ing care enough
05:11where the s*** hurts.
05:12It's got to f***ing mean something to you.
05:14It's more than a job.
05:15It's your f***ing livelihood.
05:17How well do you know your job?
05:18How well can you do your job?
05:20Well, you can't sugarcoat that s***.
05:21It was in the f***ing excusable.
05:23There's no f***ing answer for it.
05:25There's no excuse for it.
05:27That's what you tell them in the locker room.
05:29I love that.
05:29So, 10.
05:3010 beeps in a 10-second press conference there.
05:34And he's right.
