Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi raised alarm over toxic air in major cities, stressing rising diseases among children and the elderly. He called air pollution a non-ideological issue needing unity. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju assured that the government is ready for open discussion and solutions with full cooperation.

00:35This is an interesting issue because I'm certain that there will be full agreement between the government and us on this issue.
00:47This is not an ideological issue.
00:51Everybody in this house would agree that air pollution, the damage it is doing to our people, is something that we would like to cooperate on.
01:02In our position, Rahul Gandhiji has made a statement in the form of suggestion.
01:08The member of the Congress party in the Business Advisory Committee had also raised this issue and some other parties and from the government side also.
01:17And government from day one had made our position very clear that on all important matters,
01:23government is ready to discuss and also to find out solution, taking along the suggestions from all the members including the Principal Opposition Party led by Rahul Gandhiji.
01:35So, the matter was placed in the Business Advisory Committee as we had discussed about the election reforms including the Special Intensive Division.
01:45Under the, you know, various laws, various rules, we will see how we will take up this discussion.
01:54But, please, the matter was brought in the BAC, so let us take dispatch to the BAC.
02:01We are ready to discuss, then you can understand.
02:05Government is always prepared to have discussion under any rule,
02:14but only what the point I want to make is, since the matter was brought in the BAC,
02:18we will come back and let us see how we can structure the discussion into,
02:23and then we are ready to take up this matter.
