British Medical Association chairman, Dr Jack Fletcher, says it's a "shame we've got to this stage" as resident doctors in England consider whether a new "last minute" offer from the government on working conditions is enough for them to call off a strike planned for later this month.

00:00Potentially, but what I would say is it's a real shame that we've got to this stage at such a late stage in the process.
00:05We first wrote to the Secretary of State hours after our last round of industrial action ended,
00:10and he didn't reply to the letter for well over a week.
00:13We've then had sporadic talks, and it's a real shame that we are where we are.
00:17We would have preferred to have been in a situation where we had a real negotiation to get to a deal,
00:22but sadly, Mrs Streeton has put this on to us at the 11th hour.
00:25We think that members should have their say, or a member-led organisation, and they will ultimately have their say about next week's action.
