What does this data from the third quarter tell us?

Well, it tells the Fed that the labor market was a little bit looser maybe in the third quarter

because we didn't see a big rise in wages and salaries.

It comes down from what we had seen in the second quarter.

The overall ECI comes in up eight-tenths of a percent.

The forecast was for nine-tenths, the same as in the second quarter.

Wages and salaries were up eight-tenths of a percent.

They were up a full percentage point.

In the second quarter, and benefit costs increased eight-tenths of a percent.
