00:00Let's get right to it.
00:01Yeah.
00:01Although on a later Mongo, we might get, you know, somebody who's more agitated,
00:06maybe a little bit more inebriated.
00:08I'm not sure if that's how he rolls.
00:09Maybe.
00:10Yeah.
00:10Maybe.
00:11Or maybe at this hour we get someone whose kids are still at the park.
00:16I don't know.
00:17They might be.
00:18See if I can't set him off today with some of my take-a-ry.
00:22Let's try.
00:23All right.
00:23It's Mongo.
00:25John Feliciano with the Niners the last two years.
00:29He joins us on the River Islands guest line.
00:31He's got the Jam and New podcast, the Not Our Fault podcast,
00:35which over the last few weeks has super-duper been true, right?
00:39The offensive line.
00:41Nobody's mad at the offensive line right now, John.
00:43What do you see?
00:44What do you see with this group?
00:47Oh, man.
00:48I can't wait to hear what Baldy's got for me.
00:53We've got to tell everybody that Baldy means something different when you said.
00:57No, different Baldy.
00:58Oh, yeah.
00:59That would be your dibs.
01:00I mean, you'll be there in about 12 years, John,
01:02based on what I'm seeing from your hairline, but go ahead.
01:05No, no, no, no.
01:06I have thin hair.
01:07I have thin hair, dude.
01:08And I'm going to borrow from Chris Berman,
01:10because your hairline is going back, back, back, back, back.
01:12But go ahead.
01:16Yes.
01:17I love it.
01:19That was a good one.
01:20It's just good.
01:21Nice job.
01:22Hell yeah.
01:22All right.
01:23Yeah, the O-line's been playing great, man.
01:25You know, Trent is looking like Trent again.
01:32I think Spence has came in and done a fantastic job.
01:37Our boy Jake's balling out.
01:40And, you know, McKivitt and I think Pune.
01:42You know, Pune's had an up and down year, but when he's doing good,
01:46he's top guard in the league.
01:49I think he's playing at a higher level more consistently as of late.
01:55How important is it to have five guys who play together week in and week out?
01:59Mark and I were talking off the air about, like, continuity versus talent.
02:03Is continuity almost more important than having, like,
02:06a super talented guy out there?
02:12Talk to me, John.
02:13That depends.
02:17If you're, like, uberly talented, like Trent, then the continuity doesn't matter as much.
02:25But, yeah, I'd say so.
02:27I think continuity along the offensive line is one of the most important things.
02:31It's those milliseconds that you can gain when you know what that guy next to you is doing.
02:37It makes the world for us fat guys who are not athletic like the people we're trying to block.
02:43John, did you watch the Eagles last night?
02:46It was out of the game.
02:48Well, like, their offensive line, along with the Chiefs,
02:52who lost most of their offensive line, like these last two primetime games,
02:55these are the two most famous offensive lines in football right now.
02:59The Chiefs because they're allowed to false start,
03:02and the Eagles because of this tush-push thing.
03:06But they've got injuries a little bit there, departures.
03:09Like, I just wonder what you see when you see the Eagles,
03:13because that was really built on their O-line, and now they, I don't know,
03:17they kind of stink now, John.
03:19Yeah, they're not having the success as they've had in years prior.
03:25You know, I know their offensive line coaches there, Jeff Stallone.
03:27He's a great coach.
03:29He recruited me to go to Miami.
03:32He was there for one year, and then he skedaddled.
03:33And he got fired, same thing.
03:37Got it.
03:41But, yeah, he's a great offensive line coach.
03:43And, like you said, they haven't been performing well this year.
03:49It's just, you know, I don't think their guard play is where it's been at
03:53in years prior.
03:55And, I mean, the Chiefs, I don't know if you saw their left tackle,
03:59Esa Pole, that's my guy right there.
04:01I was trying to get, I was in first year's ear, the A first year, like,
04:06Esa Pole, he can play.
04:10And that didn't go well.
04:12But shout out Esa, the undrafted guy, bounced around a little bit,
04:18was on the Jets active, and then he got cut, signed back with the Chiefs P squad.
04:23And ended up starting, well, he didn't start, but he played the whole game.
04:26I think the starter got injured in the first play.
04:29He played the whole game and really balled out against Hunter
04:32and those guys over there in Houston.
04:35You mentioned Furster, and I want to ask you about how important he is to this team
04:40because Mark and I were talking about, oh, Shanahan, what a year,
04:43and Salah and the special teams.
04:45But to me, the position coaches matter a ton.
04:47How much has Furster meant to this team, especially this year?
04:51Man, Chris is, he's the man, man.
04:57I wish, you know, I love all my other line coaches,
05:00but I always told the guys like, damn, I wish I came out here earlier,
05:04just, you know, with the style of play, with the outside zone,
05:08and Furster's the grandfather of that.
05:12He's super old.
05:13But he's still, he can still connect with the guys at his old age.
05:23Furster's wife was battling cancer, the Super Bowl run.
05:29Yep.
05:29And, man, the amount of respect that he has in that building just,
05:39he hates any kind of credit or he doesn't want to be in the limelight.
05:46He hates doing interviews.
05:49But, man, when I tell you, Furster means a lot to that building,
05:53and he's up there, man.
05:57He's a great guy.
05:59I love that dude.
06:00John Feliciano with us, Willard and Dibs, here on 95.7 The Game.
06:03Speaking of old age, John, the Colts just signed a quarterback
06:06who is 11 years older than you.
06:08Your thoughts.
06:10What the hell is going on?
06:12There's still hope for me after all.
06:14I know.
06:15What are you doing?
06:16You slouch, like, get off the chair, drop your podcast, and come play.
06:20Phillip Rivers has got a grandkid in his early.
06:23They didn't want me.
06:23I reached out.
06:24They said no.
06:28But that's, I mean,
06:29that's amazing, man.
06:30I'm wishing the best for them.
06:32I think they play the Seahawks, if I'm not mistaking.
06:35That's correct.
06:35So, I would love to see old Phillip Rivers get us closer to the NFC West Championship.
06:46And play the Niners the week after.
06:48Monday Night Football, two weeks from yesterday.
06:51Hopefully, his arm is a little sore that week, because he's dicing up the Seahawks.
06:55I mean, it'll be, I think, five years since he last played, and I know that you're now two years removed.
07:02And when you think about it from years...
07:03Oh, a few months, a few months, a few months.
07:05Yeah.
07:05Okay.
07:06But think about it from your standpoint.
07:08Like, how hard is it in your mind to even come back, if you had to come back in two or three weeks, let alone have it be five years?
07:15I mean, for me, two or three weeks, I'd be ready.
07:20I'd be ready seven to ten days.
07:24But I was talking to my buddy about this.
07:27Like, he's not out there playing a physical game.
07:29He's playing quarterback.
07:32Hopefully, like, he's been throwing the ball around.
07:37He's fine.
07:38And he's, you know, old as hell, so he knows defenses.
07:41Like, he's a smart guy.
07:43I don't think it's going to be hard for him at all.
07:47Can I hear from you what you would do if you did get that call?
07:51You said you need seven to ten days.
07:53What would those seven to ten...
07:54What would they look like?
07:55What would you do?
07:56I would just go there and then just give me, like, five practices, which is less than two weeks' games.
08:03Like, give me a week on Peace Squad or whatever it is.
08:07Give me three practices that week.
08:10You guys play a game.
08:11And then the following week, I'd be fine.
08:13Your workout regimen, your diet and everything is where it needs to be?
08:17The workout regimen is there, yeah.
08:19Okay.
08:20What about the diet, John?
08:22I'm close enough.
08:23I mean, shit.
08:25Yeah!
08:25Oops.
08:28We celebrate these now, John.
08:30It's fine.
08:31The YouTube audience loves it.
08:34Yeah, by the way, that one is your fault.
08:36So, on the podcast...
08:38Yeah, 100%.
08:38Yeah, that one is your fault.
08:40So, I'm only about two dookies away from the goal weight I used to be at.
08:46Okay.
08:46All right.
08:47Great.
08:48I mean, yeah.
08:49Thanks for that.
08:50And probably overly graphic, but is part of your motivation just getting away from a house full of kids?
08:59That's definitely up there.
09:01Kids, in-laws, they're all here right now.
09:06I'm having a lot of FOMO, though.
09:08Man, I miss hanging with the guys, miss talking with the guys.
09:14And, yeah, get me the hell out of this house.
09:15Yeah, I get it.
09:16Watching that Buffalo game and you saw the snow game, how much of those did you love as an offensive lineman, like, playing in those conditions?
09:26Dude, I've never played in snow like that.
09:29I've played with, like, flurries a little bit on the ground.
09:33But, man, that game in 23 when Buffalo beat us, I wish I could have played in that game.
09:42That's the game I'm trying to play in.
09:43Man, that looks like football.
09:46It looks like it hurts, actually.
09:49It definitely does, but I get off on getting pain and keep pushing through.
09:54I guess you probably have to if you're going to do what you do.
09:57Hey, we were just batting around.
09:59I guess the word would be expectations for the 49ers.
10:02I don't know if you can sort of be objective on this, but, like, where do you sit on that idea of expectation not to make the playoffs,
10:12but what they would do once they get there?
10:15Like, still no Fred Warner, still no Nick Bosa.
10:19Do you think the 49ers have a really solid chance to move through the playoffs?
10:24I mean, 100%.
10:26I think our offense is about to start exploding for 30, 40 points a game.
10:32And what do you see from our defense lately?
10:36These young guys are really stepping up.
10:39I think our back end is great.
10:41I love Tig and, jeez, I'm forgetting his name now.
10:46What's the other one?
10:48You're talking about Jair Brown?
10:49You're talking about Mustafa?
10:52Mustafa.
10:52Mustafa.
10:53There we go.
10:53I love the way Mustafa plays the game of football.
10:56I think those two do a really good job of, mind you, it's 2025, so it's not like the good old days when you can smack someone through the middle.
11:06But those guys are out there taking heads off.
11:09And I know receivers and running backs are definitely thinking about that.
11:14If you take the Niners out of your answer here, who do you think wins the NFC?
11:20It's so disgusting.
11:22I think one of the teams in the West are going to end up being in the Super Bowl, whether it's us or the Rams.
11:33The Seahawks, they're in the conversation.
11:38But the Rams, I think they're probably one of the best teams in the league, even though they got smacked by the Panthers.
11:44They're getting Devontae Adams and pairing him with Puka was, we shouldn't let that happen.
11:54I can see it's really hard for you to actually say these words coming out of your mouth.
11:58It's the worst.
12:00My co-host is a big Rams guy, too.
12:02And the game is, the game's at Levi's.
12:05We don't need that.
12:07We don't need it.
12:08We don't need a Puka's house, not yours.
12:11Like, I mean, good Lord, right?
12:13I mean, they don't even have a house.
12:15That's Levi's.
12:17That's exactly what it is.
12:18But you do, and you're in it, and now you have to go talk to your kids.
12:22Ah, thanks.
12:24All right.
12:24Yeah.
12:24All right.
12:25All right.
12:25Thanks, John.
12:26We'll talk to you next week, bud.
12:28Appreciate you guys.
12:28All right.
12:29There he is.
12:29You got it.
