Ontel Handy Heater Deluxe - Unboxing and Review
Transcript
00:00Hello and welcome back to another exciting episode. Today we are going to unbox the Little Mighty Handy Heater.
00:10Now this handy heater I got because it's only 350 watts.
00:18And the reason why I did that is because if we have a power outage, I do have that Ryobi backup battery power source.
00:34Yes, I have the bigger heater and I've tested it out and it lasts about two hours with four batteries on it.
00:44However, this thing, being only 350 watts, oh by the way, the big one is like, I think it's 1300 watts.
00:54So it does pull a lot of juice.
00:56But this little thing being 350 watts, I can put it into a bedroom and it should take care of a few hours.
01:06So more than two hours anyway.
01:09We hope.
01:11I'll test that out maybe at the end of this video or see.
01:15Open this thing up.
01:16See what we got here.
01:19It says quick and easy heat anywhere.
01:22Plugs directly into the wall.
01:24It has an adjustable thermostat.
01:27Programmable 12 hour timer.
01:30It's great for garages, bedrooms, bathrooms and more.
01:33So it's not meant for the whole house, obviously.
01:36Now some of the reviews that I've seen has said, oh, it does not heat the whole house.
01:45Well, it's not meant to heat the whole house.
01:47It's meant to heat one room in an emergency situation.
01:52Well, at least in my case, in an emergency situation.
01:58So, let's see.
02:01What's this?
02:02Oh, there's no safety tape.
02:04That's interesting.
02:07Handy heater deluxe.
02:10Distributed by Ontel.
02:13In Fairfield, New Jersey.
02:16But it is made in China.
02:19So that matters to you.
02:21There you go.
02:24So it does have temperature up and down.
02:27We'll see that a little bit later.
02:29Or fan speed.
02:32Digital display.
02:34Timer button.
02:36On-off switch.
02:38Oh, and the plug does rotate, it says here.
02:40That's nice.
02:42Gives you operating instructions.
02:47How to turn the prongs.
02:50Setting the timer.
02:52Care and maintenance.
02:54Do not let liquid enter the heater.
02:57Well, duh.
02:59Alrighty.
03:00And that's about it.
03:03Oh, it is designed for in-wall outlet use only.
03:07Oh, it has a little remote here.
03:10Which has power button, timing button, wind speed.
03:15So I believe this is just low and high.
03:17But we'll find out a little bit later.
03:19Heat up and heat down.
03:26Oh, it does have that little safety thing in there.
03:28So I'm not going to detach that at the moment.
03:33And then...
03:38Dun, dun, dun.
03:40Dun.
03:44There it is.
03:47That was packaged pretty well.
03:51I don't see any damage.
03:53Oh.
03:54There's the fan.
03:55There's the heating elements in there.
04:01Oh, they look pretty beefy.
04:03From what I can see.
04:05There's the on-off switch.
04:07And then...
04:08You have for the...
04:11Oh.
04:12It could be sideways.
04:13It could be upside down.
04:18Or the normal way.
04:21That way.
04:23So you have to go back around.
04:25And then...
04:26With the...
04:28Neutral up.
04:30Which is where the new houses...
04:32Are now.
04:34They make them with the neutral up.
04:37And...
04:37Where...
04:38Like industrial places.
04:40Like businesses and stuff.
04:41You usually have the...
04:43The little hole.
04:44The little hole.
04:45It's at the top.
04:47And by the way.
04:48Anybody know why that's like that?
04:51I do.
04:52At least I was told by...
04:55Somebody.
04:57An actual expert.
04:59So...
05:00The reason why...
05:02With the old one.
05:03The prongs are up top.
05:05And the neutrals in the bottom.
05:06Well...
05:08If something were to fall...
05:10On it.
05:12Like...
05:12You know...
05:12This isn't plugged in the hallway.
05:14It's a little bit out.
05:15Let's say.
05:17And something would fall on the two prongs.
05:19It could short out the prongs.
05:21And cause a fire in the unit.
05:23It could...
05:24Cause a fire in the outlet.
05:25Or most likely...
05:27It would just blow a fuse.
05:28And of course in...
05:29Industrial places.
05:31That...
05:32Could be a bad thing.
05:33Because it...
05:34Decreases productivity and all that.
05:36So now...
05:37In the new houses.
05:40And...
05:40In workplaces.
05:42Usually they have the prong...
05:44The neutral prong up.
05:46So if something does...
05:47Hit the neutral.
05:49Nothing really happens.
05:51So...
05:52There's your answer.
05:53All right.
05:54So let's plug this thing in.
05:56And see if it works.
05:59All righty.
06:01So we got the...
06:02Battery pack on.
06:04And I did put two batteries in there.
06:06Both of them as you see are...
06:10Nice and charged.
06:14Turn on the power supply.
06:16Turn on the outlets.
06:17Plug in the unit.
06:22Oop.
06:22Got to turn that around.
06:24And the way you do that is very easy.
06:26There's a little button on the side here.
06:30And...
06:30You just turn it.
06:32Till you get it to the spot that you want.
06:35And that's it.
06:37Plug it in.
06:39Turn on the power button.
06:40There we go.
06:44Taking 20% load.
06:49Let's see if we can bring the speed down.
06:53Hello.
06:55That brings the power...
06:59Total load level down to 17%.
07:02And of course...
07:06Don't need it at 80%.
07:07Because this is going to be for emergency.
07:11So...
07:12It's a 70%.
07:13Let's see how long it takes.
07:18Okay.
07:18Put this thing in the living room.
07:21Because if I put it into...
07:22My small area of my...
07:25Editing suite.
07:26It's going to get really hot really quick.
07:28So...
07:29I did have to turn this sideways.
07:32So it doesn't hit the ground.
07:36So...
07:36Turn that on.
07:40Bring it down to 70%.
07:42Low power.
07:46Again...
07:46The load is 17%.
07:49Oops.
07:49Excuse me.
07:5016%.
07:51And let's see how long...
07:55Two batteries...
07:57Will last.
07:59And for those of you who are asking...
08:01Yes.
08:02I did turn the house thermostat down.
08:06So it would not interfere...
08:08With a thermostat on...
08:11The unit.
08:12Okay.
08:13There you have it.
08:15Round it up.
08:17Two hours.
08:20So that means...
08:22Four hours...
08:23For four batteries.
08:25Not bad.
08:26I'll take that.
08:27Well, thank you for coming along with us...
08:30To unbox...
08:32The Handy Heater.
08:35And as always...
08:37Have a great day.
