Hello and welcome back to another exciting episode. Today we are going to unbox the Little Mighty Handy Heater.
00:10
Now this handy heater I got because it's only 350 watts.
00:18
And the reason why I did that is because if we have a power outage, I do have that Ryobi backup battery power source.
00:34
Yes, I have the bigger heater and I've tested it out and it lasts about two hours with four batteries on it.
00:44
However, this thing, being only 350 watts, oh by the way, the big one is like, I think it's 1300 watts.
00:54
So it does pull a lot of juice.
00:56
But this little thing being 350 watts, I can put it into a bedroom and it should take care of a few hours.
01:06
So more than two hours anyway.
01:09
We hope.
01:11
I'll test that out maybe at the end of this video or see.
01:15
Open this thing up.
01:16
See what we got here.
01:19
It says quick and easy heat anywhere.
01:22
Plugs directly into the wall.
01:24
It has an adjustable thermostat.
01:27
Programmable 12 hour timer.
01:30
It's great for garages, bedrooms, bathrooms and more.
01:33
So it's not meant for the whole house, obviously.
01:36
Now some of the reviews that I've seen has said, oh, it does not heat the whole house.
01:45
Well, it's not meant to heat the whole house.
01:47
It's meant to heat one room in an emergency situation.
01:52
Well, at least in my case, in an emergency situation.
01:58
So, let's see.
02:01
What's this?
02:02
Oh, there's no safety tape.
02:04
That's interesting.
02:07
Handy heater deluxe.
02:10
Distributed by Ontel.
02:13
In Fairfield, New Jersey.
02:16
But it is made in China.
02:19
So that matters to you.
02:21
There you go.
02:24
So it does have temperature up and down.
02:27
We'll see that a little bit later.
02:29
Or fan speed.
02:32
Digital display.
02:34
Timer button.
02:36
On-off switch.
02:38
Oh, and the plug does rotate, it says here.
02:40
That's nice.
02:42
Gives you operating instructions.
02:47
How to turn the prongs.
02:50
Setting the timer.
02:52
Care and maintenance.
02:54
Do not let liquid enter the heater.
02:57
Well, duh.
02:59
Alrighty.
03:00
And that's about it.
03:03
Oh, it is designed for in-wall outlet use only.
03:07
Oh, it has a little remote here.
03:10
Which has power button, timing button, wind speed.
03:15
So I believe this is just low and high.
03:17
But we'll find out a little bit later.
03:19
Heat up and heat down.
03:26
Oh, it does have that little safety thing in there.
03:28
So I'm not going to detach that at the moment.
03:33
And then...
03:38
Dun, dun, dun.
03:40
Dun.
03:44
There it is.
03:47
That was packaged pretty well.
03:51
I don't see any damage.
03:53
Oh.
03:54
There's the fan.
03:55
There's the heating elements in there.
04:01
Oh, they look pretty beefy.
04:03
From what I can see.
04:05
There's the on-off switch.
04:07
And then...
04:08
You have for the...
04:11
Oh.
04:12
It could be sideways.
04:13
It could be upside down.
04:18
Or the normal way.
04:21
That way.
04:23
So you have to go back around.
04:25
And then...
04:26
With the...
04:28
Neutral up.
04:30
Which is where the new houses...
04:32
Are now.
04:34
They make them with the neutral up.
04:37
And...
04:37
Where...
04:38
Like industrial places.
04:40
Like businesses and stuff.
04:41
You usually have the...
04:43
The little hole.
04:44
The little hole.
04:45
It's at the top.
04:47
And by the way.
04:48
Anybody know why that's like that?
04:51
I do.
04:52
At least I was told by...
04:55
Somebody.
04:57
An actual expert.
04:59
So...
05:00
The reason why...
05:02
With the old one.
05:03
The prongs are up top.
05:05
And the neutrals in the bottom.
05:06
Well...
05:08
If something were to fall...
05:10
On it.
05:12
Like...
05:12
You know...
05:12
This isn't plugged in the hallway.
05:14
It's a little bit out.
05:15
Let's say.
05:17
And something would fall on the two prongs.
05:19
It could short out the prongs.
05:21
And cause a fire in the unit.
05:23
It could...
05:24
Cause a fire in the outlet.
05:25
Or most likely...
05:27
It would just blow a fuse.
05:28
And of course in...
05:29
Industrial places.
05:31
That...
05:32
Could be a bad thing.
05:33
Because it...
05:34
Decreases productivity and all that.
05:36
So now...
05:37
In the new houses.
05:40
And...
05:40
In workplaces.
05:42
Usually they have the prong...
05:44
The neutral prong up.
05:46
So if something does...
05:47
Hit the neutral.
05:49
Nothing really happens.
05:51
So...
05:52
There's your answer.
05:53
All right.
05:54
So let's plug this thing in.
05:56
And see if it works.
05:59
All righty.
06:01
So we got the...
06:02
Battery pack on.
06:04
And I did put two batteries in there.
06:06
Both of them as you see are...
06:10
Nice and charged.
06:14
Turn on the power supply.
06:16
Turn on the outlets.
06:17
Plug in the unit.
06:22
Oop.
06:22
Got to turn that around.
06:24
And the way you do that is very easy.
06:26
There's a little button on the side here.
06:30
And...
06:30
You just turn it.
06:32
Till you get it to the spot that you want.
06:35
And that's it.
06:37
Plug it in.
06:39
Turn on the power button.
06:40
There we go.
06:44
Taking 20% load.
06:49
Let's see if we can bring the speed down.
06:53
Hello.
06:55
That brings the power...
06:59
Total load level down to 17%.
07:02
And of course...
07:06
Don't need it at 80%.
07:07
Because this is going to be for emergency.
07:11
So...
07:12
It's a 70%.
07:13
Let's see how long it takes.
07:18
Okay.
07:18
Put this thing in the living room.
07:21
Because if I put it into...
07:22
My small area of my...
07:25
Editing suite.
07:26
It's going to get really hot really quick.
07:28
So...
07:29
I did have to turn this sideways.
07:32
So it doesn't hit the ground.
07:36
So...
07:36
Turn that on.
07:40
Bring it down to 70%.
07:42
Low power.
07:46
Again...
07:46
The load is 17%.
07:49
Oops.
07:49
Excuse me.
07:50
16%.
07:51
And let's see how long...
07:55
Two batteries...
07:57
Will last.
07:59
And for those of you who are asking...
08:01
Yes.
08:02
I did turn the house thermostat down.
08:06
So it would not interfere...
08:08
With a thermostat on...
08:11
The unit.
08:12
Okay.
08:13
There you have it.
08:15
Round it up.
08:17
Two hours.
08:20
So that means...
08:22
Four hours...
08:23
For four batteries.
08:25
Not bad.
08:26
I'll take that.
08:27
Well, thank you for coming along with us...
08:30
To unbox...
08:32
The Handy Heater.
08:35
And as always...
08:37
Have a great day.
