00:00105 on the Browns Detroit, still back here, Poppin' R&B.
00:03It's your boy Showtime, the czar, in the studio with me.
00:05Got some guests returning.
00:07My guys, Kid J, Diamond Cut, they are here together.
00:11Yes, sir.
00:11What's up, though?
00:12That's Poppin' Son. Welcome back, fellas.
00:14What's up?
00:14What's up?
00:15First of all, glad to have y'all here, man.
00:17How is everything going with y'all, first of all?
00:19Going pretty good.
00:20Thanks for having us back, fam.
00:21We've been grinding.
00:22Yeah, just grinding, yeah.
00:23Y'all here today as the Poppin' Son podcast.
00:25First of all, tell people exactly what the Poppin' Son podcast is
00:29and how they can find it, first off.
00:30Well, Poppin' Son, man, it's like it's a family-oriented podcast
00:34that we started on.
00:35It was like some humbug thing.
00:37It was like, oh, we're just going to start it up.
00:39Then we came to 40 shows, and then we just kept going.
00:41So we interview celebrities.
00:43We interview young youth that's coming up in the world
00:46that have motion, and it's got to be positive motion.
00:50And yeah, we're one of them podcasts that I like to say
00:53it's a lot of messy podcasts out there.
00:55But we like shining the light on people.
00:56But it's crazy because the podcast, you know,
00:59it started out just us.
01:01So we didn't start doing guests until like the second
01:04or like third episode.
01:05Third episode, yeah.
01:06But after that, we was like, you know what?
01:08This is something that we can use our platform
01:12to raise other people up on.
01:14So, yeah.
01:15Nice.
01:15Now, you guys got, you talked about the guests.
01:19Most recently, you had two I want to highlight on.
01:22But like you said, you had a bunch of guests on there.
01:24DOC, all right, the legendary DOC.
01:27Yes, sir.
01:27And then Chris Gotti.
01:29So let's start with DOC first.
01:30First off, what was that interview like?
01:32You know, I grew up on him in NWA to my era.
01:36So, you know, I was a little fanicky.
01:38I ain't going to lie.
01:39Nice.
01:40I was a little fanicky.
01:41Fanicky, man.
01:42Straight understanding.
01:45Starstruck, starstruck.
01:45But as a grown man, a grown man, man, you know,
01:49him looking out for my son and his career,
01:53me and DOC got a lot of talks.
01:55You know, we got doing a lot of things.
01:56We got in motion right now.
01:57So, I mean, it was just, it was a blessing to find him.
02:01You had a lot of wisdom.
02:02A lot of wisdom about the game, for sure.
02:04So, I'm sorry.
02:05My bad.
02:06I'm going to ask y'all both the same thing.
02:07And I'm going to start with you, KJ.
02:08What was something that you took from that interview,
02:10being that NWA wasn't necessarily our era,
02:12but he's still an OG.
02:13So, you know, it was something that you took out of that.
02:15Well, I mean, you got to think,
02:16he's a legend, a pioneer in the game.
02:18To me, he's one of the best songwriters of all time.
02:20And I love songwriters, you know what I mean?
02:23So, I was trying to pick his brain on his, you know,
02:26songwriting and creating process and stuff like that.
02:30But, you know, it was just a huge opportunity.
02:33You know, that's somebody that Pops grew up on
02:36and somebody that he introduced me to at a young age.
02:39So, you know, I ain't going to say I was starstruck,
02:41but I was almost there a little bit.
02:43Yeah, yeah.
02:44That's the guy.
02:44What about you, Diamond Cubs?
02:46What was the, what was something that you took from that?
02:48Because you grew up in that area.
02:49So now to hear from him, from DLC himself,
02:53like what was that like?
02:54What I took from him was I took the knowledge
02:57he was giving us about the game.
02:59And I kind of, you know, I've been in it a minute,
03:00so I'm kind of like sifting through certain things
03:03that you got to see and people don't know about it.
03:05But he kind of confirmed some of the things that was true.
03:08Like what?
03:08Like what did he say that you was like,
03:10okay, I thought about it or something that,
03:11what did he say?
03:13Can you talk about it?
03:14Consistency stood out a lot.
03:15Consistency, keep doing consistency.
03:17And he was like, well, you don't need a billion people
03:20to, you know, be successful in this career.
03:22He said, you need about 10,000, 10 to 15,000 people
03:24that really rock with you.
03:26And I was like, that's kind of dope,
03:27thinking that we need 100 million followers to make it.
03:31And you really don't, you just need a loyal fan base.
03:33Yeah.
03:35So it's kind of dope, yeah.
03:36So, okay, Chris Gotti, let's talk about that one first.
03:40Rest in peace to his brother, Irv Gotti.
03:41How did y'all get Chris Gotti to come do the show?
03:44What was that like?
03:45Okay, so, you want to start him?
03:47So, we actually did something with Chris,
03:50like years ago in Cleveland.
03:53Oh, really?
03:54Yeah.
03:54Dope.
03:55It was like a tour.
03:56Yeah.
03:56Adventure Music, shout out to Adventure Music.
03:58And we drove through a whole, like, snowstorm
04:01in order to get to the concert.
04:03And after we performed,
04:04he acknowledged that we came from Michigan.
04:07We was already rocking with him
04:08because we was distributing our music
04:09through Adventure Music,
04:11which is his music platform for artists.
04:13I didn't know that.
04:14Yeah.
04:14So, yeah, we was connected with him a while back
04:18and kind of just built that relationship.
04:20So, it's about building relationships.
04:22And I reached back out to him.
04:23It was no biggie.
04:24He was like, you know, and anyone,
04:25I do want to say this,
04:26he's working with me.
04:27He just had some movies come out.
04:29And he got, I guess, some type of business
04:31trying to come to Detroit with,
04:33you know, the movie industry.
04:35So, and he acknowledged that Detroit
04:37is where it's at with all the movies.
04:38So, I did want to say that.
04:39Shout out to my boy, Diesel.
04:41Diesel.
04:41He that guy.
04:43Yeah, Diesel.
04:44Yeah.
04:46So, you got a new kid, J.
04:50You got a new project out.
04:51Yep.
04:52Open Season.
04:53Talk to us about it real quick, man.
04:54So, Open Season is actually coming out later this month.
04:58Got you.
04:58But at the beginning of the year,
05:00I did drop off the record, the other album.
05:02Right, right.
05:03So, Open Season is going to consist of,
05:06I want to say eight songs.
05:07It was supposed to be more,
05:08but it's eight songs and it's like heavy hitters.
05:10Two songs is already out right now,
05:12Ketchup and J4M.
05:16J4M stands for Just For Me.
05:18Shout out to Sokka the Renegade.
05:19Yeah, Sokka the Renegade.
05:20Yeah, Sokka been doing these things.
05:21Yeah, that's my guy.
05:23Yeah.
05:23Yeah, I'm proud of him.
05:25But yeah, so I called it Open Season because,
05:27you know, have you ever seen the animated movie,
05:29Open Season, with like the animals and stuff?
05:32I have.
05:32Oh, the cartoon.
05:33Yeah, yeah, yeah.
05:34Okay, I'm here.
05:34So, Open Season, you know,
05:36He called it a cartoon, I wanted to say.
05:37Yeah, my bad.
05:38So, Open Season, you know,
05:43if you Google it,
05:45is, you know,
05:46when people go and hunt.
05:48Right.
05:48So, that's pretty much
05:50what I'm doing through the album.
05:51I'm rapping about, you know,
05:53me being on the hunt for success.
05:54So, that's why I called it Open Season.
05:56So, yeah.
05:57Do you feel like you starting to get
05:59the recognition you deserve,
06:00or are people still not knowing who KJ is?
06:03Um, I think I've, you know,
06:06like Pop said,
06:06you don't need hundreds of thousands of people,
06:08you know what I mean?
06:09Got you.
06:09And I built my loyal fan base,
06:11so I feel like, you know,
06:13the people that I want to recognize me
06:14have already recognized me, so.
06:16And with me adding on that,
06:17you know, it's,
06:18again, I always tell him,
06:20you're gonna have some people
06:21that rock with you
06:21and some that don't,
06:22you know, it's some people that,
06:24you know, and I will say,
06:25in the city that I really wanted
06:26to work with that I reached out to
06:28that didn't reach back.
06:29But I don't, you know,
06:30you don't, you know,
06:30it's part of the game.
06:31You know, everybody got their own motion.
06:32You don't hold no, you know,
06:33no ill will towards nobody,
06:35but there's a few of them out there
06:37that I wanted to rock with.
06:38I'm gonna put one out there
06:39so he know,
06:40but I know he busy.
06:41Hell of a man,
06:42you ain't hollered at me yet, man.
06:43Hell of a man.
06:44I swear that I'd be hollering.
06:47Does that discourage you at all
06:48when they don't get back to you
06:49or just, I mean, everybody busy,
06:51so sometimes it ain't a personal thing.
06:52I mean, you gotta think,
06:54some of these people
06:55that we try to connect with,
06:56you know,
06:57they DMs is just as flooded as ours.
06:59Yeah, and I know hell of a busy.
07:00I only say that because,
07:01you know, I think I reached out
07:02to him a few times.
07:03And, you know,
07:04I talked to him,
07:05I talked to him at a pool party years ago,
07:07you know,
07:07we was having a little video shooting.
07:08You know, he's pretty cool,
07:09you know,
07:09and I know he busy,
07:10so it's no personal thing.
07:12It's gonna happen though.
07:12Yeah, I don't look at it
07:14in that fashion,
07:15you know,
07:15because, you know,
07:16that's the biggest,
07:17to me,
07:18that's the biggest problem
07:19with the world today.
07:20Nobody is obligated
07:21to do anything for you.
07:23So when they do do something for you,
07:24you know,
07:24acknowledge it,
07:25thank them,
07:25and, you know,
07:26be appreciative of it.
07:27Yep.
07:28Now, you guys are sports fans,
07:29correct?
07:29Yes.
07:30All right,
07:30so I've seen a couple of the guys
07:32that you had on there
07:32in terms of interviews.
07:34I think y'all did Bryce Underwood.
07:36Yes, sir.
07:37All right, talk to us about that, man.
07:39He's had a pretty decent
07:40first season at Michigan, man.
07:42You know,
07:42a couple of things
07:43we were, like, different,
07:43but what was that interview
07:44like, talking to Bryce?
07:46Well, you're gonna have haters.
07:47Let me put that out there.
07:48Bryce, to me,
07:49is,
07:50I met a lot of people,
07:51and I met a lot of people
07:52on different levels,
07:53and he's young,
07:54probably one of the most
07:55humblest kids I ever met,
07:57you know what I mean,
07:57as far as when,
07:58you know,
07:58you look at it and say,
07:59oh, he's getting this much money,
08:00he's getting that much money,
08:00but he don't think like that.
08:01He's a competitor.
08:03He wants to make everybody
08:04better around him.
08:05I know his dad,
08:06good, you know,
08:07he's got goodwill upbringing,
08:09you know,
08:09so, you know,
08:09you're just gonna have them haters.
08:10I feel like his freshman year
08:11for the record,
08:12for it to be,
08:13I mean,
08:13what else do you expect?
08:14Right, right.
08:14He turned 18
08:15in the middle of the season.
08:17Right.
08:17I mean,
08:17he's still growing,
08:18so, you know.
08:19And he still had the confidence.
08:20Yeah, so,
08:21I shout out to Bryce, man.
08:22I think he,
08:23the second year,
08:25he'll prove everybody wrong.
08:26Mm-hmm.
08:27Yeah, that's why I'm open.
08:29You,
08:29I've seen y'all talk
08:31to a lot of younger kids,
08:33college ages
08:35and everything like that.
08:37Who was somebody
08:37that you interviewed
08:39or talked to
08:39that you was like,
08:40this kid is ahead of his time?
08:42Oh, we had,
08:43a lot of them.
08:44A man that was,
08:45that was a basketball player,
08:46because he,
08:47because he,
08:48he,
08:48academics too,
08:49my man.
08:49Yeah.
08:50And then we do phase.
08:51I'm gonna tell you
08:52who ahead of their time.
08:53All right.
08:53And we'll be an NBA star.
08:55John Sanderson.
08:56Keep that in mind.
08:57Got you.
08:58He came from Saleen.
08:59He plays for,
09:00I can't say the school name
09:02because,
09:02you know,
09:02I'm not good
09:02at pronunciation.
09:03Um,
09:04I,
09:04they go by
09:05Lulu Basketball.
09:06Lulu Basketball.
09:06I know they have,
09:07like,
09:07a longer name for it.
09:08It's basically an acronym.
09:09And it's kind of like,
09:10you know,
09:11it's extended
09:11for better basketball players
09:13at other schools.
09:14So that's where he ended up
09:15and,
09:15uh,
09:16way ahead of his time.
09:18Way ahead of his time.
09:18Uh,
09:19the only sad thing
09:20is that he's,
09:21he's going to Notre Dame.
09:22Yeah.
09:22Oh,
09:23damn.
09:23I also want to add,
09:26Casey the model
09:27is ahead of her time.
09:28I really rock with Casey
09:29and her dad,
09:29but Casey's very smart.
09:31Of course,
09:32she was up under Brooklyn Queen.
09:33Shout out to Brooke.
09:34You know,
09:34Brooke done been out there,
09:35you know,
09:36uh,
09:36movies and series.
09:38And,
09:39but,
09:39you know,
09:39yeah,
09:39she's another one
09:40that's ahead of her,
09:41ahead of her time.
09:42Nice.
09:42All right,
09:43so,
09:43um,
09:43I seen that you were,
09:45was it both y'all
09:46in the movie recently?
09:47It was me.
09:47It was just you?
09:48Hey,
09:49man,
09:49look,
09:49oh,
09:49I love telling this story.
09:51Look.
09:51Okay,
09:51all right,
09:51yeah,
09:52tell the story.
09:52Oh,
09:52man,
09:52look,
09:53Pops,
09:53look,
09:54if you,
09:54if you go and watch this scene,
09:55because to me,
09:56he has the most serious,
09:57uh,
09:57scene in the movie,
09:58right?
09:58Okay.
09:59And,
10:00you know,
10:00throughout the scene,
10:01he,
10:01uh,
10:01he's the,
10:02the bouncer or the,
10:04what is it,
10:04what is it called?
10:05I am the security for,
10:06for the mob lady,
10:07for the boss.
10:08you know,
10:08he like,
10:08he like trips out on this dude
10:09that they interrogate
10:10and he punch him in the stomach,
10:18and he asked who he's got to get to that.
10:20I was telling you to tell the story
10:21about the,
10:22uh,
10:22the actor,
10:22like,
10:23like,
10:23Oh,
10:23okay.
10:24Okay,
10:24so the,
10:24the guy,
10:25you know,
10:25uh,
10:26excuse me,
10:27I can't say his name right off rip,
10:28I can't think about it.
10:29Um,
10:30but he told me,
10:31snatched me up,
10:31he's from Atlanta.
10:33And,
10:33uh,
10:33I was,
10:34you know,
10:34it was my first role.
10:35He said,
10:35man,
10:35really snatched me up off the ground,
10:37man,
10:37you gotta make it look real.
10:38So I'm,
10:39I'm,
10:39you know,
10:39I'm pretty strong.
10:40I lift weights,
10:41you know,
10:41I'm like,
10:41all right,
10:42man,
10:42you know,
10:42and he had a hood on,
10:43snatched me by my hood.
10:45So the first time I snatched him up,
10:46we had to cut,
10:47cause I kind of choked him.
10:48Oh,
10:48okay.
10:48So the second time,
10:49he's like,
10:50man,
10:50that was good,
10:50man,
10:50but just,
10:51you know,
10:51snatched it up where I could speak,
10:52and,
10:52you know,
10:53so I ended up snatching him up that,
10:55you know,
10:56so when you see the scene,
10:57shout out,
10:57there's money over boys,
10:58shout out to mob diva.
11:00Is the movie out yet?
11:00It's out.
11:01It's out on everything.
11:02When you see the movie itself,
11:03you're going to be like,
11:04wow,
11:05you know,
11:05it's acting,
11:06but I actually snatched him off the ground.
11:08What made you want to step into the acting bag,
11:09man?
11:10Somebody asked me to do security.
11:12I've been doing security a long time.
11:13In real life.
11:14Yeah,
11:14oh,
11:15all right.
11:15It was already something I was used to.
11:18But man,
11:19you should,
11:19you should,
11:19oh man,
11:20you should have seen this gun,
11:21man.
11:21It was like,
11:22man,
11:22look,
11:22y'all done seen Hellboy.
11:24Y'all know what gun I'm talking about,
11:26that,
11:26that,
11:26that silver boy,

11:30you know,
11:31my,
11:31my buddy's old school,
11:32so they said I had to Marvin the Martian.
11:36Yeah,
11:36but I mean,

11:44KJ,
11:45you thinking about doing some acting,
11:46man?
11:47You know,
11:48so Uncle Trick,
11:49he's writing a script right now for a movie,
11:52and he's trying to find a role for me in the movie.
11:54I hope he get you knocked off.
11:56God,
11:56that's crazy.
11:56He's hoping I'm in the position,
12:00well,
12:00I gotta get knocked off.
12:01I'm a little nervous about my first acting role,
12:06because,
12:07you know,
12:07I've heard stories of,
12:09you know,
12:10actors going on there,
12:11acting,
12:11and then them being like,
12:13you know,
12:13what are you doing?
12:13You can't be on camera acting like yourself.
12:16You know,
12:17you're supposed to be a character.
12:18You're supposed to be playing a role.
12:19So,
12:20I'm a little nervous about playing a role,
12:22but,
12:23you know.
12:23We do a lot of TikTok,
12:24I think you'll be okay.
12:26But I know Uncle Trick told me,
12:27you ain't getting knocked off.
12:28Maybe not a serious role.
12:29I think I want more of a comedy role first.
12:30I want you to get knocked off.
12:32No,
12:32I don't want to be knocked off.
12:33We gonna keep it like that.
12:35But,
12:36yeah,
12:36it's gonna be,
12:36you know,
12:37I'm trying to get him in the movie scene,
12:38for sure.
12:39Nice.
12:39Uh,
12:40you brung up on Trick,
12:41Trick,
12:41man.
12:42Talk about,
12:42I mean,
12:43we talked about your relationship with him last time,
12:45but I know if y'all have done things with him since then,
12:47and y'all,
12:47you know,
12:48spoken to him
12:48hella times,
12:50man.
12:50So what is it about Trick,
12:52Trick that you just like,
12:53man,
12:53this is,
12:54you know.
12:54This is my guy?
12:55This is my guy.
12:55Man,
12:56let me say this.
12:56Go ahead.
12:57First,
12:57and I'm gonna let you,
12:58I'm gonna be quick,
12:59man.
12:59I'm just authentic.
13:01There's nothing else you can,
13:02Got you.
13:02And what he,
13:03what,
13:03what he,
13:04you know,
13:04I don't want to,
13:05because it's not like what he say go,
13:06but it's like,
13:08he said in his ways.
13:09Yeah.
13:09You know what I mean?
13:10But it's authentic,
13:11and there's love there,
13:12and there's,
13:13you know,
13:14aggression there,
13:14but it all plays,
13:15you know,
13:16it just depends on,
13:17he give you what you give him.
13:19So that's what I like about him.
13:20Very authentic,
13:21man.
13:21Shout out to my big homie,
13:22Trick,
13:22Trick.
13:22Mm-hmm.
13:23Oh,
13:23um,
13:25the fact,
13:27I mean,
13:27you know,
13:28people look at him as,
13:29you know,
13:29Trick,
13:29Trick,
13:30you know,
13:30the godfather out here,
13:31but I mean,
13:31to,
13:31to,
13:32to us,
13:32he just,
13:33he just,
13:33you know,
13:34after like the first time of being in the studio with him,
13:37you know,
13:37uh,
13:37when we did Deep,
13:38Deep in Love,
13:39you know,
13:40after that,
13:41it was kind of like we was,
13:42you know,
13:43family.
13:44Yes.
13:44Uh,
13:45you know,
13:45uh,
13:46he,
13:46he called us randomly,
13:47check on us,
13:48we,
13:48we do the same for him.
13:49Mm-hmm.
13:50So,
13:51um,
13:51especially with his siblings,
13:53you know what I mean?
13:53I call him auntie,
13:55uncle,
13:55but,
13:55right.
13:55Yeah,
13:56shout out to Denise,
13:57that's my girl.
13:57Well,
13:58yeah,
13:58no,
13:58he,
13:58being in the studio with,
13:59with him is just like being in the studio with your talented uncle.
14:03Yeah.
14:03Right.
14:03That's,
14:04yeah,
14:04pretty much,
14:05that's how I look at it.
14:06What was a piece of advice that he gave you,
14:07KJ,
14:08that you was like,
14:08all right,
14:09I hear you.
14:09Whether in life or in music,
14:11whatever it was,
14:11just something that you thought,
14:13I'm gonna keep this one.
14:14Let me see.
14:17Mm.
14:18Been a lot.
14:19Yeah.
14:19Oh,
14:19you been dropping gems like that?
14:20Oh,
14:20that's fine.
14:21Yeah.
14:21Been a lot.
14:22I mean,
14:23because me and,
14:23me and pops in the early stages of my career,
14:26you know,
14:26trusted a lot of people that we shouldn't have.
14:28Yeah.
14:28Ended up in a lot of bad positions.
14:29Yeah.
14:30And so,
14:30you know,
14:31he,
14:31he,
14:32that's basically what he kicks game to us all the time.
14:35You know,
14:35when we,
14:36when we started working with,
14:37he didn't ask us for a dollar.
14:38You know what I mean?
14:39He was just like,
14:40use a,
14:41use me as a resource.
14:42And that's,
14:43that's exactly what we did.
14:44Same thing DOC said,
14:45same thing,
14:45you know,
14:46one,
14:46one thing you did mention was,
14:48excuse me,
14:49we had a speech on from Arrested Development.
14:52And that,
14:52that right there had me,
14:54you know,
14:54because I'm Mr. Wendell,
14:56I'm everyday people,
14:57you know,
14:58I,
14:58I grew up on it.
14:59And he was dropping gems.
15:00So really,
15:02you know,
15:02Unc is the overseer of most of the stuff we do.
15:05But I,
15:06you know,
15:06with Pop and Son,
15:07going back to Pop and Son,
15:07we only want,
15:08people on our show
15:09that's coming with gems,
15:11that's coming with knowledge,
15:12that's coming with positivity.
15:15That's it.
15:16You know,
15:16I'm not,
15:16I don't want the biggest celebrity on my show
15:20if it's going to bring drama.
15:22Negative energy.
15:22Yeah,
15:23no negative energy.
15:24So,
15:24that's what our podcast,
15:25pretty much,
15:26man,
15:26it's just family oriented.
15:28Putting the spotlight on people.
15:29Putting the spotlight on people.
15:29That don't,
15:30you know,
15:30have it that way.
15:31Yeah.
15:31I hear y'all talk about family oriented.
15:33Like,
15:33even when,
15:34about you rapping,
15:34bro,
15:34we spoke about that last time.
15:36It's just like,
15:37you not,
15:37you said something that I love,
15:40which was,
15:40I want people,
15:41grandmas to be able to play my song.
15:43You see what I'm saying?
15:43And then just even with y'all podcast,
15:45it's family oriented.
15:46Why is that so big for y'all?
15:49Is that something that you.
15:51Because me and my family was always tight growing up.
15:55You know,
15:55God to me and my siblings.
15:58You know,
15:58pops,
15:59that's the only thing he preached to us.
16:01You know what I mean?
16:01He was like,
16:02you know,
16:02if,
16:02if there ain't nobody else in the world that y'all,
16:05you know,
16:06got or can't trust,
16:06y'all got each other.
16:07You know what I mean?
16:08So that's,
16:09that's,
16:09that's why it's,
16:10you know,
16:11a deep meaning for me for sure.
16:12It's,
16:12it's godly.
16:13It's the,
16:14it's the right thing to do.
16:15You know what I mean?
16:16I feel like the world itself,
16:18um,
16:18without getting political,
16:20the world itself is turned upside down.
16:23So we just trying to.
16:24Man,
16:24it's hard out here.
16:25You can see it.
16:25Yeah,
16:25it's hard,
16:26it's hard,
16:27man.
16:27And then let me just put on record,
16:29this has nothing to do with black,
16:31right,
16:32Puerto Rican.
16:33It's got nothing to do with race at all,
16:35man.
16:35It's just,
16:35it's just part of being human.
16:37Humanity,
16:38man.
16:39Humane,
16:40I should say.
16:41And just trying to make,
16:42you know,
16:43a better dent in a bad situation.
16:46Got you.
16:46All right,
16:47two more things,
16:47fellas.
16:47I'm going to let y'all get up out of here.
16:48First off,
16:49y'all go for Poppin' Son podcast.
16:51Do y'all have one,
16:52or it's just like,
16:53we just seeing where this thing goes?
16:54Uh,
16:55one day I want to be one of the best
16:56father-son connection podcast there is.
16:59I definitely want to put that.
17:00One day we want to be in here.
17:00Yeah,
17:01one day,
17:01yeah.
17:02You know,
17:02I,
17:02you know,
17:03I look at Gilly,
17:04and I look at a couple other,
17:05uh,
17:06you know,
17:07podcasts,
17:08but I,
17:08like I say,
17:08we a little different,
17:09but I,
17:10I don't know.
17:10Uh,
17:12we having fun doing it.
17:14So wherever it go,
17:15it go.
17:15Yeah,
17:15wherever it takes.
17:16And what do y'all got coming up next?
17:19Is there a guest that y'all are talking about
17:20that y'all want people to listen to?
17:22I never let the next guest be known.
17:24Good.
17:25All right.
17:25But,
17:25uh,
17:26I got some big guests coming in,
17:28uh,
17:28if it,
17:29if it shape,
17:30and I'm like,
17:31I always,
17:31I always speak faith in God.
17:32So if it's in the plan with what,
17:35what God wants to happen,
17:37y'all be surprised.
17:38And,
17:39uh,
17:39y'all see Poppin' Son a lot more.
17:41Yeah.
17:41Nice.
17:42KJ,
17:42what you got going on,
17:43man?
17:43Cause I know you doing something.
17:44Like you said,
17:44the project is dropping.
17:46You got some shows coming up.
17:47Um,
17:48what you got going on,
17:48bro?
17:49Ooh.
17:49So,
17:49um,
17:50next week,
17:51um,
17:52actually,
17:52no,
17:52not next week.
17:53Sorry.
17:53This weekend,
17:54tomorrow,
17:54um,
17:55there's this fashion show off of Grand River.
17:57Um,
17:58is,
17:59so it's going to be a fashion show.
18:01Uh,
18:01the person that's,
18:02that sponsors me,
18:03uh,
18:03his name is Rye Eugene.
18:04Shout out to Rye Eugene.
18:05Shout out to Rye.
18:06Shout out to Rye.
18:06Shout out to birthday.
18:07He's going to have some models walk,
18:08uh,
18:09and to display his clothes,
18:11and I'm going to be the performer.
18:13Nice.
18:13So that's going to be pretty cool.
18:14Beautiful venue too.
18:15Beautiful.
18:16And then,
18:16uh,
18:17next week,
18:17I'm doing another school tour with Uncle Trick,
18:21which is going to be pretty dope out here.
18:22Non-violence again.
18:23Non-violence.
18:24Yeah.
18:24And then,
18:25uh,
18:25you know,
18:26about two and a half more weeks after that,
18:28that's when the album's going to drop.
18:30Yes,
18:30sure.
18:30Can't wait.
18:31Can't wait.
18:32Two and a half weeks.
18:32We get an album from you,
18:34man.
18:34Are you excited?
18:34How you feel?
18:35Oh,
18:35I want to ask you this real quick.
18:36What's up?
18:37Why only eight songs,
18:38bro?
18:39Why only eight songs?
18:40Um,
18:40because I've always been about quality over quantity.
18:43Um,
18:43I feel like,
18:44you know,
18:45a lot of artists nowadays will make 15,
18:4716 songs.
18:48And they don't all hit.
18:49I'm here.
18:49Exactly.
18:50Yeah.
18:50Either that or,
18:51you know,
18:51you will,
18:52you will stop listening to the album halfway through if it's not hitting at the
18:55beginning.
18:56You know what I mean?
18:56Right.
18:57So why not,
18:57you know,
18:58uh,
18:58make it short,
18:59um,
19:00and put songs on there that I know I put my hardest effort into and just let
19:05them listen to that,
19:06you know,
19:06and judge it from there on out.
19:08Now,
19:09do you call it,
19:11and is it considered an entire project?
19:13Like if it's only eight songs on there or is it something short?
19:15Um,
19:15technically,
19:16yeah.
19:16Okay.
19:16Because,
19:17um,
19:17you know,
19:18it becomes an EP when it's like four songs.
19:20Got you.
19:21Um,
19:21once you surpass like six,
19:23seven songs,
19:23then that's when you,
19:24you know,
19:25hitting the album range,
19:26I guess.
19:26Okay.
19:27I don't know.
19:27Okay.
19:27To me,
19:28I feel like eight songs should be considered like a larger EP.
19:31Does that make sense?
19:32Okay.
19:32Well,
19:33yeah,
19:33no,
19:34but then,
19:34you know,
19:35I think about it this way.
19:36I dropped the album at the beginning of the year.
19:38You know what I mean?
19:38What we probably going to do when we stream the album live,
19:41when it comes out,
19:42probably going to play the other one first,
19:44and then it's going to run into the second album.
19:46You know what I mean?
19:47Uh,
19:48and until open season.
19:49So we're going to listen to off the record first,
19:51and then we go listen to open season.
19:52And yeah,
19:54it's going to be nice.
19:55Yeah,
19:55he used to explain it to me real quick.
19:57He used to say,
19:58Dad,
19:58you know,
19:58I want to give them some music to where they want more.
20:02When they run off that last song,
20:03they say,
20:03man,
20:03he should have put my own there,
20:04man.
20:05That is true.
20:06And I thought it was a great,
20:07you know,
20:07concept.
20:08You know what I mean?
20:10Leave the wolf hungry.
20:13You know what I mean?
20:14So I like that.
20:14I like that.
20:15Is there any features on there that you want to talk about right now?
20:18Y'all still in the works of doing stuff?
20:19There's only one other feature on there,
20:24but I don't want to say it because I want y'all to wait to listen to it.
20:26Got you.
20:27All right.
20:28I like how y'all keep stuff in suspense.
20:30Y'all don't want to tell everybody anything.
20:32Everybody's like posting anything.
20:33People steal your sauce,
20:34man.
20:34They steal your sauce.
20:35Yeah,
20:35I mess with that,
20:36bro.
20:36All right,
20:37fellas,
20:37y'all know it's always love when y'all come in here.
