00:00Absolutely phenomenal!
00:01Rooney O'Hall!
00:04Welcome to Match of the Dead.
00:30Two games, a cracking November goal of the month and plenty to discuss from the weekend so far on tonight's Match of the Day.
00:53All in the company of Shea Given and Thomas Hitzelsberger, who's hot-footed it back from the World Cup draw in Washington.
00:58So we might have time to find out his favourite moment a little bit later.
01:02But we're going to start in West London where Fulham haven't won at home in the Premier League against Crystal Palace in over 20 years.
01:08And Oliver Glasner's men have kept four clean sheets in their last five league games.
01:12Robin Cowan was at Craven Cottage.
01:15Fulham had the performance without the result to match when they nearly pulled off the most stunning of comebacks against Manchester City in midweek.
01:23Those inside Craven Cottage tonight will hope the momentum generated in the 5-4 defeat remains.
01:29Samuel Chukwase has earned just his second Premier League start after scoring a brace on Tuesday night.
01:35He has five goal involvements in seven appearances despite playing for just 229 minutes so far.
01:41His inclusion, one of two changes, with Timothy Castagne named in the XI for the first time in seven weeks.
01:47Ryan Sessegnon is out with a hamstring injury.
01:50Crystal Palace have suffered a big loss to their back line.
01:53Daniel Munoz is unavailable due to a knee problem.
01:56So a rare outing for Nathaniel Klein who makes just his second appearance of the season.
02:01While Eddie Nketiah reaches 50 games for Crystal Palace and starts his first league game of the campaign.
02:07Both out of contracts at the end of the season. A new contract for Christmas.
02:12A bit of a quirk of this fixture. Just one of the last 12 Premier League meetings have been won by the home side.
02:25Smithrow. Corner kick, first of the game.
02:38Iwobi towards the near post. And Mateto got a touch. Another chance for Fulham.
02:53Iwobi delivers low. Smithrow.
02:57Whether that was intended or not, it turned into a brilliant chance for Emile Smithrow.
03:03And it took a deflection away. It was checked very quickly for a handball.
03:10Fulham had conceded just three goals at home. That was until Tuesday night.
03:16Shipping five against Manchester City.
03:20Warton. Again, the Ranger passing from Warton. Sumptuous.
03:26Finds Mitchell. Gaye in support.
03:30Warton. Nketiah!
03:35Fabulous goal.
03:38Nketiah marks his 50th Palace appearance.
03:45They make it look so simple.
03:49Warton outside of the boot, first of all.
03:52Mitchell biding his time, assessing his options.
03:56Again, Warton. Maybe that pass was intended for Kamada, but Nketiah.
04:02Quick of thought. Clear of mind. And a devastating finish.
04:08Simplicity at its best, and Palace are in front.
04:12As it stands, Crystal Palace will move into the top four of the Premier League.
04:18And when he was appointed in February 2024, they were 15th.
04:22A couple of trophies. European adventures.
04:26But his future's still very much up in the air.
04:32Oh, good.
04:36Oh, Smith Rowe takes that beautifully!
04:41A brilliant save from Dean Henderson.
04:44Precision pass from Berger.
04:46And that touch from Smith Rowe afforded him a lot more space to get the shot away.
04:59Klein picks up the loose ball.
05:04Klein felt he was caught there.
05:07Well, there was a check in the background there.
05:10Video assisted referee for a penalty.
05:14He was inside the box, and it looked like Anderson did catch Nathaniel Klein.
05:18And I think he can count himself slightly fortunate there.
05:22Joachim Anderson.
05:29Wilson.
05:32Chukweze.
05:44Oh, what a goal!
05:50That is absolutely sensational.
05:56Palace looks compact.
06:00No danger.
06:02But the slick one-two between Raul Jimenez.
06:05And then the finish from Wilson.
06:11It is perfection.
06:13And he scored a few exceptional goals this season.
06:16Another one to add to the list.
06:18And he draws at Fulham level.
06:20And this is Crystal Palace's 24th match of the season already in their fourth game of nine in 27 days.
06:30The success comes with a very busy schedule.
06:34The goal.
06:35Kamado.
06:36Mateta!
06:37Mateta!
06:42It was tracked all the way by Calvin Bassi.
06:44And Bassi was never going to allow him a clear attempt on goal.
06:49Smith Rowe, delicate touch towards Raul Jimenez.
06:58Smith Rowe takes it back over.
07:02Now Chukweze.
07:04Cross in!
07:05Oh, off the post!
07:06And the follow-up is there!
07:08Emile Smith Rowe!
07:13Now Smith Rowe scored against City, and now he's got another back-to-back games.
07:18And it was the midfielder who drove Fulham forward.
07:22It won't be so unfortunate not to score with that header.
07:26Now this is being checked for a handball against Raul Jimenez.
07:31And it's also been checked for an offside, Chukweze.
07:39And it has been disallowed.
07:42Chukweze is offside.
07:45It's a real shame.
07:46It was another beautifully crafted Fulham goal.
07:53And Marco Silva, who does usually have an air of mild irritation,
07:57can't help but grimace to himself.
08:00Pistanya.
08:01Pick off the mark to intercept.
08:03That's a lovely ball.
08:04Chukweze!
08:05Oh!
08:06That's a lovely ball.
08:07Oh!
08:08Oh!
08:09Oh!

09:06Oh!
09:07Oh!
09:08Oh!
09:09Oh!
09:10Oh!
09:11Oh!
09:12exactly right
09:13Wharton delivers low
09:19it's left, Pinot
09:20very cleverly done
09:25by Crystal Palace
09:27Pinot delivers
09:33oh it's there
09:34Mark Gay
09:37receives the adulation
09:43that the celebrating
09:45Crystal Palace
09:47support
09:49they came so close
09:52with the previous one
09:53Gay
09:53into the middle
09:55it is an unsavable
09:58header
09:58guiding it beyond Bert Leno
10:01this is
10:03heady days
10:05to be a fan of Crystal Palace
10:07as they continue
10:09to hit new heights
10:10full time
10:12at Craven Cottage
10:14it's Fulham 1
10:15Crystal Palace 2
10:17my feeling was
10:19the longer the game took
10:20it was more likely
10:22that we win the game
10:23and we create the chances
10:24and then we decided
10:26to use a set play
10:26when you see our schedule
10:28really playing game after game
10:30and then striking back
10:33in the last 10 minutes
10:34and this is just really amazing
10:36to watch
10:37and credit to the players
10:38everyone's working hard
10:39you know
10:40not just in the games
10:40but on the training pitch
10:41the players that play
10:42the players that don't play
10:43and like Sean today
10:44when me and Clanny have come in
10:45obviously we're ready
10:46to help the team
10:47and do what we need to do
10:48so I think we're in a good stead
10:49and we need to keep going at that
10:50you should have done better
10:51in that last minutes
10:52of the game
10:53the way you conceded
10:54but of course
10:54the way we had some
10:55good moments in the game
10:57but football is about
10:58moments
10:59good performance
11:00about results too
11:01and of course
11:02we have to combine
11:02everything for us
11:03to take points
11:06to get the points
11:06that we probably deserve
11:07but we are not getting
11:08and football is like that
11:09it's about to be clinical
11:11to be rootless
11:11and to be resilient
11:12in all the moments
11:13it's your 24th match
11:14of the season
11:14it's a busy December
11:15I mean
11:16do you put much burden
11:18on that
11:19because you do have
11:19an extremely busy schedule
11:20honestly it felt
11:23we had a long break now
11:25because we played always
11:26Thursday, Sunday, Wednesday
11:28this was tight
11:29we were always just having
11:30two days in between
11:30and now we had
11:31three days in between
11:32we gave the players
11:33two days off
11:34and then we met yesterday
11:35and it felt like
11:36we had holidays
11:37how many days off now?
11:39players asked for two
11:40but I said no
11:40we can't always have
11:41two days off
11:42so we will meet tomorrow
11:43we need recovery
11:44the players like to be together
11:47the players like to play together
11:48and this is what they showed
11:49in a very impressive way today
11:50we'll get on to the
11:52impressive Palace
11:52in a moment
11:53but Shea
11:54seven defeats in ten
11:55now for Fulham
11:56and Marco Silva's frustration
11:57was coming through there
11:58wasn't it
11:58because this equals
11:59the worst period
12:00that he's had
12:01as manager of Fulham
12:03and there's just
12:04something that he feels
12:05is lacking
12:06because they're actually
12:07playing really well
12:07yeah
12:08I think 63% position
12:09they didn't play bad today
12:10and I actually really like
12:11Marco Silva as a manager
12:12they've got real personality
12:13I have no qualms or doubts
12:15that he'll get them
12:16I think they're four points
12:17or above the relegation
12:18so I'm burning away next
12:19but I think Marco Silva
12:20and the players
12:21some of the players
12:21I love Harry Wilson
12:23of course
12:23there's a number of players
12:24he's come into the team
12:25in the last couple of games
12:26and there's some exciting
12:28players as well
12:28it's just not getting
12:29a rub of the green
12:29and you can see
12:30he was really angry as well
12:31he can see the winning goal
12:32from a set play
12:33which most managers are
12:34but I think they'll be
12:36totally fine
12:36let's talk Palace
12:37then shall we
12:38Thomas and the man
12:39who really made them
12:39tick today
12:40the always impressive
12:42it seems at the moment
12:43Adam Morton
12:44yeah I think he's still
12:45a young player
12:46but at the age of 21
12:46you don't quite know
12:47in this day and age
12:48but the way he moves
12:49around the pitch
12:50he looks so calm
12:51and he hasn't even played
12:5250 Premier League games yet
12:53and that's why I'm so
12:54impressed with him
12:55because you know
12:56we see him
12:56sometimes I think
12:58he just jogs around
12:59he doesn't get a sweat on
13:00because he knows
13:01his position
13:02where he needs to be
13:03that nobody can get
13:04the ball off him
13:05and the players of course
13:06look for him
13:06because he has this ability
13:08to open the play up
13:09and look at this
13:10this ball outside
13:11of the left foot
13:12doesn't get any better
13:13I mean I've tried
13:14so many times
13:14but it doesn't never come off
13:16and not just that
13:17he plays it wide
13:18with the outside of his left
13:19he's still there
13:20and as I just said
13:21his teammates
13:21they keep looking for him
13:22and he looked for Kamada
13:23in this particular case
13:25but then Ketia
13:26picked up the ball
13:27and as I said
13:29being so central
13:30being still so inexperienced
13:32and yet having such an effect
13:33on this team
13:34is really impressive
13:35I mean it has to be said
13:36Smith-Rowe doesn't pick him up
13:38and yet Adam Wharton
13:40knows exactly
13:40where he needs to go
13:41he had his eyes on Kamada
13:42as I said before
13:43and yet
13:44this is the accuracy
13:45of the pass
13:46the pace of it
13:47this is what happens
13:48and eventually
13:49the ball ends up
13:50in the goal
13:50and here we see as well
13:52the ability as I said before
13:53not to just pass it
13:54but win the ball back
13:55and this is a modern number six
13:57that passes the ball
13:58but also wins it back
13:59and most of his balls
14:00reach his teammates
14:01I think he's got an accuracy
14:03of 95%
14:04you'd say he belongs
14:06to some of the best
14:06passers in the league
14:08but also this pass
14:09I think is absolutely incredible
14:11he takes out two players
14:12he knows exactly
14:13where everybody is
14:14his orientation
14:15around the pitch
14:16is constantly
14:17it's on
14:17you know
14:17he turns his head around
14:18he knows where he is
14:19he knows where his teammates are
14:21absolutely impressive
14:22and there you go
14:23keep showing for the ball
14:24in a pace
14:25that I think is comfortable
14:26that you can keep
14:27or maintain for 90 minutes
14:28and that's why
14:29in the end
14:31you have a player
14:32not only can pass the ball
14:33but also take three kicks
14:34in corners
14:34and this is
14:35I think Shea said
14:36this is almost
14:36an assist to an assist
14:38because this resulted
14:39to the goal
14:40the 2-1
14:41that Mark Gay scored
14:42and there you go
14:43Crystal Palace
14:43the best start of the season
14:44in their Premier League history
14:46I know what you're saying
14:47about the ease
14:48it's almost a nonchalance
14:49isn't it
14:49nothing looks like
14:51it's that much effort
14:53for him
14:53he moves so easily
14:55it strikes me as a player
14:56you don't have to overly coach
14:57he understands the position
14:59he sometimes stands still
15:00and the game runs around him
15:01and he knows the pass
15:02before it even comes to him
15:03a lot of that stuff's really strong
15:05look at the stats
15:05the stats from today
15:06absolutely phenomenal
15:07he knows what he's going to do
15:09with the ball
15:09before it arrives
15:10and that's because
15:10his brain's working
15:11a step ahead
15:12of the players around him
15:13he's scanning always
15:14as Thomas rightly says
15:15and that pass
15:16and the players on the pitch
15:17they understand
15:17it's a pass forward as well
15:19and the way to pass is perfect
15:20and stats like that
15:21and a performance like that
15:22will surely only solidify
15:24his presence in Thomas Tuchel's squad
15:26that'll be interesting
15:26because for me
15:27he's one of the most gifted
15:28midfielders in the Premier League
15:30does he get into the
15:31to the team for the World Cup
15:32he's definitely on the plane
15:33in my opinion
15:34but does he start
15:35well he's been there
15:36he's been the last two games
15:37he was involved
15:38of course he'll be in the mix
15:39will he start
15:40I'm not quite sure
15:41it's still a long season
15:42for him to go
15:42but he's definitely
15:43one of those players
15:44Thomas Tuchel will look at
15:45let's have a look at
15:46Crystal Palace's defence
15:48this season
15:48which has been very very impressive
15:49second only to Arsenal
15:51and actually in terms of
15:52goals conceded
15:53from open play
15:55only six
15:56which is just
15:56one ahead of Arsenal
15:58so it takes something
15:59really special
15:59to reach that defence
16:01and we saw something
16:02very special
16:02yeah this was a special goal
16:04and I'm glad we've shown it
16:05because normally the team
16:05loses we don't get a chance
16:06to show the goal
16:07but this goal
16:08I think if someone like
16:09a Man City
16:10or one of the top teams
16:11scores this goal
16:12you know you're talking about
16:13look at that
16:13we've put a little bit
16:14of a pass on it
16:14down in the bottom
16:15right hand corner
16:16but nearly every sort of
16:17member of the team
16:18Fulham gets a touch
16:19gets a pass
16:20but you know you talk
16:20about Marco Silva
16:21is he under pressure
16:22you know for a fact
16:23this is what he does
16:23in training
16:24you know waves of attack
16:25you know players
16:26doing the fundamentals right
16:27keep an eye on Harry Wilson
16:28at the bottom of the picture
16:29he is a top top player
16:30I do believe in that
16:31but again look
16:32there's passing
16:32they're moving
16:33and you ask Christopal
16:34can they do better here
16:35can I be the defend
16:36and I don't think
16:36they've done a lot wrong
16:37if I'm being brutally honest
16:38again Wilson's showing for it
16:39it's just really patient
16:41in the build up
16:41and this last bit
16:42when it just comes
16:43around the box
16:43they come alive
16:44brilliant touch
16:45on the outside
16:45of Harry's left foot
16:46and again this finish
16:48just sort of speaks
16:49volume for itself
16:50but again if you're
16:51looking at the Palace
16:51point of view
16:51Klasny will be looking
16:52at that thinking
16:52what could we have done
16:53do you stop this
16:54and I don't think
16:55they could have done
16:55very much
16:56I really don't
16:56I think it's just
16:57a brilliant touch
16:57around the corner
16:58from Harry
16:58and this finish
16:59I mean you could
17:00watch this to the
17:01cows come home
17:01this is just a
17:02phenomenal finish
17:03with the outside
17:03of the foot
17:03and you know
17:05he's a player
17:05really in form
17:06Harry Wilson
17:06I was at Darbyos
17:08as a young player
17:08and I just love
17:09to see how his
17:10career's you know
17:11moved on in the
17:12Premier League
17:12I think he scored
17:13a half degree
17:13for his country
17:14as well
17:14he's really on top
17:15of his game
17:166 goals and 7
17:17for club and country
17:18now for Harry Wilson
17:19as for Crystal Palace
17:21that's 3 away wins
17:22on the road
17:23on the bounce
17:24for them
17:24and the best start
17:26to a Premier League
17:27season ever
17:27after 15 games
17:28they're in the top
17:29four
17:29Oliver Glasner
17:30though still
17:31last week
17:32obviously against
17:33Manchester United
17:34in the post-match
17:34comments there
17:35he was saying
17:36he wasn't quite happy
17:37with how he'd
17:38strengthened his squad
17:38he hasn't signed
17:39a deal which will
17:40keep him on
17:40beyond this season
17:42you know him
17:42I do
17:43I tried to sign him
17:45many years ago
17:45when I was at Stuttgart
17:47and I had a conversation
17:47with him
17:48and I was impressed
17:49back then
17:49unfortunately
17:50he didn't join us
17:51but ever since
17:51I followed his career
17:52and I'm so impressed
17:54because he usually
17:55outperforms the budget
17:56and look at Palace
17:57you know
17:57when he came in
17:58soon after
17:59Michael Olisse left
18:00and they kept on
18:01getting better
18:02Eberace Eze left
18:03at the last season
18:04beginning of this season
18:05and yet they have
18:06the best start
18:07to their season
18:07this is so impressive
18:09and I know he's
18:09in a strong position
18:10he said to the owner
18:11Marquette needs to stay
18:13I need to keep this player
18:14otherwise probably I'm gone
18:15so he is very powerful
18:17at Palace
18:18but everybody knows
18:19there
18:19he got them into position
18:21where they've never been before
18:22they've won the FA Cup
18:23so if you're a Crystal Palace
18:25fan right now
18:25you've got so much
18:26to cheer on from
18:27you break the bag to keep him
18:28well they probably
18:29they should do
18:30but I'm not quite sure
18:31with his contract running out
18:32he might aim for
18:33an even bigger club
18:34or his ambition
18:35yeah
18:35okay thank you
18:36well Brighton
18:37against West Ham

19:12the Sunderland challenges
19:13and a great finish
19:15Rufs didn't move
19:16Trossard
19:23space opens up
19:29for Trossard now

19:32what a goal
19:35by Leandro Trossard

19:38a perfect shot
19:40to get past Robin Roos
19:41from that range
19:42it is perfect
19:44big gap to the right
19:51of Petrovic
19:52in that Bournemouth goal
19:53which Buendia finds
19:55the Emmy Buendia revival

20:43from Jeremy Pino

20:53this afternoon
20:54does so again
20:57and Aston Villa
20:58in front
20:59Morgan Rodgers
21:01making it look
21:02so very easy
21:03he's now just
21:05guided it
21:06beautifully
21:06over the wall
21:07great challenge
21:14now Paulina
21:14Richarlison
21:15looking to lob
21:16David Raya
21:17and he has
21:17a piece of impudence
21:21and brilliance
21:21from Richarlison
21:22wonderfully done
21:24oh no
21:31a gifted form of possession
21:34Adams goes for goal
21:36he's spotted
21:36Bruce off his line

23:21meetings with West Ham
23:22who dropped into
23:23the relegation zone
23:24in midweek
23:24your commentator
23:25is Chris Wise
23:26The form of Leeds United
23:30in the past week
23:31has increased the pressure
23:32again on the Hammers
23:33that's despite the gutsy draw
23:36West Ham collected
23:36at Old Trafford
23:37on Thursday
23:38only a win here
23:39will make a Sunday escape
23:41from the bottom three
23:42possible for Nuno's men
23:44Brighton's leading scorer
23:45Danny Welbeck
23:46back in the starting 11
23:47having been rested
23:48for the chaotic home defeat
23:50to Aston Villa
23:51and Jorginho Ruter
23:52available to Fabian Herzler
23:54again having been forced
23:55to sit out
23:56that 4-3 loss
23:57with less than 72 hours
23:59since their last game
24:00West Ham changes
24:01were inevitable
24:02there are four
24:03from Nuno Espirito Santo
24:05including a first league start
24:07since the opening weekend
24:08for Guido Rodriguez
24:09Lucas Pacataz
24:10back from suspension
24:11Crescensio Somerville
24:13returns after injury
24:14and Max Killman
24:15comes into a reshaped
24:16Hammers back three
24:18Lewis Dunk
24:25and Paul Van Hecker
24:27it's patient
24:33from Brighton
24:34and then in it goes
24:35and it was missed
24:35by Veefer
24:36who looked like
24:38he'd arrived on the scene
24:39with impeccable timing
24:40but he didn't get
24:42a touch on it at all
24:43the Brighton right back
24:44now for Panos
24:48Wan-Bissaka
24:51there's nobody in the box
24:52at the moment
24:52but those in
24:53Claret and Blue
24:54are coming
24:55and Pacataz
24:55is going to take aim
24:56from distance
24:57and Verbruggen
24:57needed to get there
24:58now Bowen
25:01and Dunk
25:05has time
25:05and Brighton
25:06will clear
25:07yeah that bounce
25:09right in front
25:10of Verbruggen
25:12who had good vision
25:13of it
25:14from the moment
25:14it left the foot
25:16of Pacitab
25:16well the last time
25:18Nuno Espirito
25:19Santo faced Brighton
25:20in a Premier League
25:21game
25:21his Nottingham Forest
25:22team beat them
25:237-0
25:23and then he came here
25:25a few weeks after that
25:25in March of last season
25:27and won an FA Cup
25:28quarterfinal as well
25:29he's not the most
25:29welcome face around here
25:31Pacitab got a little
25:33poke on it
25:34and then Somerville's
25:35away from Dunk
25:35Somerville
25:36he didn't get the angle
25:37right
25:38that is a waste
25:40for West Ham
25:41and I think
25:41Crescensio Somerville
25:42will be the first
25:43to say it
25:44but Scruffy
25:45from Brighton
25:46from most of those
25:47in their defensive line
25:48you can see what
25:50Somerville was trying
25:51to do
25:51he wanted to whip
25:52it beyond Verbruggen
25:53there he is
25:55the Houston
25:56born German
25:57Fabian Herzler
25:58Houston one of the
25:59World Cup host cities
26:01next year
26:01and who should
26:02be there
26:03first up
26:04on the 14th of June
26:05Germany
26:06for a game
26:07against
26:07Curaçao
26:09that will feel
26:10to Fabian Herzler
26:10like it was written
26:11in the stars
26:12Carioli
26:15with Fernandes
26:16doing all he can
26:18to stay with him
26:18De Kuiper
26:20Ruter
26:21that might have been
26:22heading into the corner
26:23do you certainly think so
26:25he's celebrating the block
26:26like it was a goal
26:27it was nearly a Brighton goal
26:30and this was
26:32swift and nifty
26:34from Brighton
26:34De Kuiper
26:36with a lovely flight
26:37on the delivery
26:38towards Ruter
26:39was it destined
26:40for the bottom corner
26:41difficult to say
26:43a few shouts around me
26:50from Brighton supporters
26:51for their team
26:51to sharpen up
26:52a bit here
26:53well won by
26:58Pakitar
26:59Bowen
26:59away from
27:00Dunk
27:01not once
27:01but twice
27:02old Jarrod Bowen
27:03still going
27:04Bowen shoots
27:05for Bruggen's save
27:06Somerville
27:07and that's a
27:08super stop
27:08for Bruggen
27:09the first one
27:10was good
27:11the second one
27:12was excellent
27:12well the hunger
27:16from Lucas Pakitar
27:17initially to win the ball
27:18and then Jarrod Bowen
27:20with some
27:20magical feet
27:22and some great physicality
27:23tiptoed his way through
27:25half of Brighton's
27:26back line
27:26and for Bruggen
27:28did so well
27:30to
27:30A get to that initial shot
27:32because it came off
27:33Cadillou
27:33but then to get back
27:35to his feet
27:36and deny Somerville
27:37top work
27:39from the Dutchman
27:40in Brighton's goal
27:41well Brighton's
27:46substitutes do tend
27:47to make a difference
27:49they've scored
27:49the most goals
27:50and got the most assists
27:51in the Premier League
27:52this season
27:52from players
27:53coming off the bench
27:54is it going to happen
27:56today
27:57Hinshelwood
27:57Gomez
27:59Welbeck
27:59upfield by Killman
28:03and misplaced
28:04by Van Hecker
28:05and suddenly
28:05it's the West Ham
28:06substitute
28:07Wilson who's on to it
28:08Callum Wilson
28:10looking for Bowen
28:11who reached it
28:12and he scores
28:13as well
28:14what a precious goal
28:17from West Ham's
28:18captain
28:18didn't really have
28:21a right to get there
28:22Jarrod Bowen
28:23but he always
28:25backs himself
28:25and it all
28:28came about
28:28through a long
28:29ball forward
28:29from Killman
28:30which was
28:30completely misjudged
28:32by Van Hecker
28:33Callum Wilson
28:34trying to slip
28:35Bowen in
28:36Cadillou
28:37should have been
28:38favourite
28:39in that situation
28:39and he didn't
28:41commit
28:41and Bowen
28:42fancied it
28:43and that was
28:43the difference
28:44and after two
28:45months without
28:46a Premier League
28:47goal
28:48Jarrod Bowen
28:49has one again
28:49for West Ham
28:50United
28:51and what a
28:52massive one
28:53it might be
28:53as it stands
28:54West Ham
28:55coming out
28:56of the Premier
28:56League's
28:57bottom three
28:57has been a
29:00growing sense
29:01in this game
29:02that this story
29:02was possible
29:03for West Ham
29:04hang on
29:05just missed it
29:05suddenly it might
29:06be 1-1
29:07Areola
29:07got fingertips
29:08to it
29:09he got it
29:09onto the bar
29:10and Brighton
29:11can't capitalise
29:12well that's
29:13a stroke
29:14of luck
29:14they nearly
29:16immediately
29:16relinquished
29:17the fine
29:18position
29:18they got
29:18themselves
29:19into
29:19and Areola
29:21with a really
29:22important touch
29:23onto the bar
29:24ten of Brighton's
29:27Premier League
29:27goals this season
29:28in the Premier League
29:29have come
29:30beyond the
29:3175th minute
29:32Costoulas
29:34can the teenager
29:37make it happen
29:37Costoulas
29:39he nearly did
29:40that would have
29:44been a glorious
29:45moment for the
29:4518-year-old
29:46Brighton
29:48not hanging
29:49around
29:49here he is
29:50again
29:50Costoulas
29:51same position
29:54Boscagli
29:55all hands to the
29:59pump for West Ham
29:59United to
30:00get these three
30:02points that will
30:02mean so much
30:03back in by
30:04Hinshelwood
30:05and the chance
30:07for Ruter
30:07the save from
30:08Areola
30:09there he is
30:10again
30:10and now he
30:11scores
30:11Jorginho
30:13Ruter
30:13for Brighton
30:14and West Ham
30:17could resist
30:17no more
30:18closing
30:21Claret and
30:21Blue
30:22hoping for
30:22a reprieve
30:23they were
30:25beginning to
30:25knock at the
30:26door
30:26pretty loudly
30:27Brighton
30:28an initial
30:29chance for
30:30Ruter
30:30and then
30:31Van Hecker
30:32gave it back
30:32to him
30:33and somehow
30:33he squeezes
30:34it
30:34through the
30:36legs of
30:36Areola
30:36West Ham
30:39were wondering
30:39whether
30:40Costoulas
30:40would be
30:41penalised
30:41for a
30:42high boot
30:42on Mavropanos
30:44but VAR
30:52wants to
30:53have a look
30:53at whether
30:54the ball
30:54has come
30:55off
30:55Ruter's
30:56body
30:56and onto
30:57his arm
30:58there
30:58but they're
31:02happy
31:02that it
31:03has not
31:03hit the
31:04hand
31:04a sigh
31:06of relief
31:06from
31:07Jorginho
31:07Ruter
31:08and indeed
31:09from
31:10Fabian
31:10Herzler
31:11and the
31:11rest
31:11West Ham's
31:13latest chance
31:14for a clean
31:15sheet
31:15has gone
31:16maybe the
31:17chance for
31:18a rare
31:18away
31:19three points
31:20has gone
31:20too
31:20Freddie Potts
31:27with the
31:28hunger
31:28Wan-Bissaka
31:30beautifully
31:31weighted
31:32Bowen
31:32with the
31:33chance
31:33and from
31:35nowhere
31:35a West Ham
31:36corner
31:36all that
31:38Brighton
31:38pressure
31:38and it
31:39might yet
31:39be the
31:40Hammers
31:40with the
31:40last chance
31:41of the game
31:41and it
31:44comes
31:44the header
31:44from
31:45Maverick
31:45panels
31:45is wide
31:46oh what a
31:47chance
31:48missing by
31:50a whisker
31:50and indeed
31:52it is
31:53the last chance
31:54of what was
31:56a frantic finale
31:57at the Amex
31:57stadium
31:58started slowly
32:00but it got going
32:00in the end
32:01Brighton
32:02won
32:02West Ham
32:03won
32:04we wanted more
32:06definitely
32:07but in the end
32:10we didn't deserve
32:11more
32:11because we
32:12didn't play
32:13with energy
32:14with intensity
32:15the first half
32:16and therefore
32:18we have to be honest
32:19and it wasn't our best
32:20performance today
32:21it feels like a defeat
32:22ultimately
32:23it's a point on the board
32:25but the situation
32:26that we're in
32:27the position
32:27that we were in
32:28I thought we'd done
32:29enough to win the game
32:30what did you make
32:31of the goal
32:32because I know
32:32there was a bit
32:33of delay
32:33while VAR
32:34were assessing
32:35whether there was
32:35a handball
32:36by Ruter
32:36maybe a high foot
32:37as well
32:38high foot
32:38handball
32:39I think that's
32:40it's clear
32:41you feel like
32:43either of those
32:43two could have
32:44been penalised
32:45VAR
32:45checked it
32:46I saw it also
32:47it's different
32:48opinions
32:49what can we do
32:50I don't understand
32:50why
32:51they give the goal
32:53honestly
32:53honestly
32:55I saw it
32:56I don't understand
32:58I don't understand
32:59honestly
33:00we'll get into that
33:02in a few moments
33:02time
33:03it was a match
33:03that really
33:04struggled to make
33:05it as second place
33:06on a two game
33:07match of the day
33:08it wasn't a classic
33:10was it Shane
33:10no the first half
33:12was really bad
33:12actually really poor
33:13but it did pick up
33:14second half
33:15and thankfully
33:15we got a couple of goals
33:16it did
33:17the last 20 or 30 minutes
33:18gave us something
33:19to talk about
33:20and we'll start talking
33:21about the way
33:21West Ham have set themselves up
33:22they're quite happy
33:23to play without the ball
33:24I think so
33:25the position they're in now
33:26in the bottom three
33:27it's about
33:27finding stability again
33:29defending as a team
33:30and of course
33:30use your moments
33:31when you break away
33:32and I think today
33:33the front three
33:33with Paketar
33:34Somerville
33:35and Bowen
33:36they worked very hard
33:37as a team
33:38as a small team
33:39within the team
33:39and that's what they needed
33:40but of course
33:41the basis was always defending
33:42of course this is when
33:44they have the possession
33:44but Paketar is such a good player
33:47when he gets it
33:47he immediately knows
33:48you know
33:49where to put the ball
33:50and this creates
33:51a very good chance
33:52for Somerville
33:52even though Paketar
33:53is a bit lucky there
33:54and this set the tone
33:55because as we said
33:57it wasn't about
33:57having possession
33:58and exciting your own fans
34:00it's about winning this game
34:01coming away with three points
34:02and every time
34:04these moments came along
34:05they were very very quick
34:06the front three again
34:07they fancied their chances
34:09and of course
34:09it created a big gap
34:10between the front three
34:11and the rest of the team
34:12but it was just about
34:14finishing it off
34:15and that's what they did
34:15here you see the entire team
34:17in the box
34:17everybody's working for each other
34:19and they might get
34:20another opportunity
34:21it's a long way
34:22from your own goal
34:23to the opposite goal
34:24but they managed it
34:25that's what you see
34:25Paketar wins the header
34:26and it all goes in one direction
34:28Bowen on the left
34:29he goes all the way
34:30and it's a sprint
34:31that's what you need to do
34:32because these are the only opportunities
34:34and they end up in front of goal
34:35Somerville in the end
34:37doesn't score
34:38because it's good defending
34:40but it's for Brighton
34:41who were comfortable in possession
34:42they always need to be aware
34:44because Paketar now
34:46you see he also defends
34:47he works for the team
34:48and what happens is
34:49Bowen goes all the way
34:50and again the front three players
34:51end up in the box
34:52and get a very very good opportunity
34:54but of course Shea
34:55as he would agree
34:56Verbruggen with two amazing saves
34:57yeah
34:58yeah brilliant
34:59and this is where we come to the goal
35:02again you see
35:03it's quite solid in the middle
35:04very very good defensively
35:06and Wilson who just came on
35:07fancies his chances
35:08he's the sort of player
35:09that made the difference
35:10Van Hecke of course
35:11without mistakes
35:12but that's what you need
35:13you need a little bit of luck
35:14and you need to anticipate
35:15and that's where you see Bowen
35:17I thought he would go more to the right
35:18but then he knows himself
35:19he needs to score with his right
35:21but he's stronger with the left one
35:22and it wasn't an easy one
35:23he put it away
35:24and this one
35:25to finish off with again
35:26Wilson on the counter attack
35:28it starts with everyone
35:29more or less behind
35:30the ball
35:31in their own box
35:32and they get the ball again
35:33and here's on the break
35:34Wilson full sprint
35:35keeps going
35:36and those were the chances
35:38this could have been 2-0
35:39bury the game
35:40unfortunately for West Ham
35:41they didn't
35:42and as we saw
35:43Brighton they came back
35:44but it is about the mindset
35:45you know
35:46you have to defend
35:46you have to suffer as a team
35:48and you have to rely on your front players
35:49to go all the way
35:50to sprint and work hard
35:51so they've got their game plan
35:53on 83 minutes
35:54Nuno makes three substitutions
35:55at this point
35:56they're 1-0 up
35:57and obviously
35:58it doesn't have the desired
35:59effect and impact
36:01that he would want
36:02from those substitutions
36:03would that explain
36:05a bit of his frustration?
36:06I don't know
36:06I feel for Nuno a bit
36:07because I think the goal
36:08is controversial
36:08but I do feel
36:09he's bringing three fresh sets of legs
36:11on a lot of height as well
36:12so he's going to sort of
36:12defend the box
36:13away from home
36:14in the Premier League
36:14so I wouldn't be too
36:15hard on Nuno
36:17for the substitutions
36:18but I do feel
36:19these frustrations
36:20we'll look at the goal
36:20I think the goal
36:21was harsh
36:22I felt
36:22Simon Hooper
36:23I think there's a high foot
36:24in the game
36:25I know we're only talking
36:25about the handball
36:26in a bit as well
36:27but if you just show
36:28the goal itself
36:29that they can see it
36:30I think it's
36:31I don't know
36:32it's frustrating isn't it
36:33because this comes from
36:33a corner originally
36:34Gabby and Ennis
36:35comes in
36:35and the high foot here
36:36we've got
36:37Mavropanis and
36:38Costoulas
36:39and you see the height
36:40is up here
36:41so Mavropanis is 6 foot 4
36:43he jumps off the ground
36:44I know there's a handball
36:45when it comes to Rooter
36:45as well
36:46we'll talk about that
36:46in a minute
36:47Ariello makes a great save
36:48Van Hecke keeps it alive
36:49and they put the ball
36:50in the back of the net
36:50but I want to sort of
36:51concentrate on this first part
36:52Simon Hooper
36:53you can see through the gap
36:54referee's got a clear view
36:55look he's off the ground
36:57centre half as well
36:57he's up off the ground
36:58if that's not endangering
36:59an opponent Gabby
37:00I don't know what is
37:01it's so high
37:01and again his head goes back
37:03you see his head rocks back
37:04because I think it might
37:04hit his shin
37:05and I think that should be given
37:07for a foul for West Ham
37:08so you feel for Nuno
37:09he's angry after the game
37:10that's clearly hitting him
37:12in the head
37:12and I know
37:13Mavropanis doesn't go down
37:14I know he doesn't look for it
37:15and then we say
37:15one week
37:16players don't make the job
37:18for the referee easy
37:19by diving around
37:20rolling about
37:20he's honest
37:21stays on his feet
37:22and doesn't get a foul
37:23so I do really feel
37:24for West Ham
37:25away from home again
37:26they're struggling
37:26at the bottom of the league
37:27and you hear Bowen as well
37:28he says
37:28it feels like a defeat
37:29here's the handball
37:30now it hits his leg
37:31and then hits his arm
37:32and the mad thing
37:33about the rule is
37:34if that goes in
37:35I think it gets disallowed
37:36on that first one
37:37Van Hecke keeps the life
37:39comes back to Ruder
37:39and he scores
37:40so that part of the handball side
37:42I think for me is okay
37:43it's just a high foot
37:44I don't agree with
37:45yeah so you're absolutely right
37:46had it gone in
37:47and it obviously rebounded
37:49off the goalkeeper
37:50and then went in later
37:51it stood
37:52because
37:52if we have a look
37:53at the actual law
37:54pertaining to this
37:55it's an offensive a player
37:56scores in the opponent's goal
37:58immediately after the ball
38:00has touched
38:00their hand or arm
38:01even if it's accidental
38:02and the mitigating factor
38:03is it wasn't immediate
38:04so we can clear that up
38:06and say whether you like it or not
38:07the correct decision
38:08was reached on that
38:09but from what we understand
38:10they didn't look
38:11at the high kick
38:13and that's the
38:14the referee was
38:14there in front of it
38:16and could clearly see it
38:17I don't get it
38:17because obviously
38:17the rule
38:18you've just read it
38:19you know it makes sense
38:19you may not like it
38:20but it makes sense
38:21it's understandable
38:22but with that
38:22with a high foot
38:23you know Simon Hooper
38:24the referee
38:24he was in a good position
38:25he could see it
38:27and it seems to me
38:28that he's relying too much
38:29on the VAR
38:29because you know
38:30you don't have to
38:31knock his head off
38:31in order to give a foul
38:32it was dangerous play
38:34and that's why I think
38:35a foul should have been given
38:36I completely understand
38:37the frustration
38:38from the West Ham side
38:39but why the referee
38:41never looked into it
38:42that will be his secret
38:43because this for me
38:45is dangerous play
38:46and fair play to
38:46Mavropanos
38:47and you just said it
38:48you know
38:48normally you see players
38:50rolling on the floor
38:51complaining
38:51but if that's what it takes
38:53to get a foul
38:53then the game changes again
38:55and this is not what fans
38:56want to see
38:56they want to see
38:57honest play
38:58but at the same time
38:59they want these fouls
39:00to be given
39:00at least that's how I see it
39:02yeah and of course
39:03they have got a habit
39:03haven't they
39:04of coming into games
39:05and scoring late
39:06they are top of the charts
39:08joint with Liverpool
39:09when it comes to scoring
39:10in the last 15 minutes
39:11and of course
39:11Doulas who was actually
39:12involved in that incident
39:12was a substitution
39:13who really did have an impact
39:15didn't he
39:15yeah he was a bright spark
39:16off the bench
39:16he really was Gabby
39:17and I suppose you've got to
39:18give Brighton credit as well
39:19that's you know
39:19that stat shows that
39:20they keep going to the end
39:22they keep you know
39:22pushing teams back
39:23and of course
39:23just West Ham will be frustrated
39:25but Brighton will be
39:25I suppose happy in the end
39:26to get a point from there
39:27OK we're going to talk
39:29Mo Salah
39:29and reveal the result
39:31of goal of the month
39:31shortly after all of
39:33yesterday's goals
39:33Torres cross
39:39and Kasia around the back
39:40scores
39:41it's Pukai Osaka
39:45Kota with a touch
39:47and Truss on with the goal
39:49Buendia
39:53absolute bedlam
39:56and Villapar
39:57some more pass
39:59comes here to Diaz
40:00he's slammed out
40:01what a goal
40:02in it comes towards
40:06it's a brilliant run in there
40:08and a powerful header
40:09to get in the second
40:10Cherki White
40:11lovely
40:13beautiful
40:13what a goal
40:14Bill Foden
40:15extraordinary
40:17Luke O'Neill
40:18he knows he's going
40:21he's already walking
40:22a lovely pass
40:25Eva Nielsen
40:26poor touch
40:27Semenya still there
40:29the goal
40:30is not going to stand
40:32Eva Nielsen
40:33was in an offside position
40:35Simons
40:37behind Van den Berg
40:38Richarlison in the middle
40:40it's Richarlison
40:41it's 1-0 Tottenham
40:42Simons
40:45the heavy touch
40:46he's done really well
40:49to win it back
40:50Sammy Simons
40:51who's set on the opener
40:52could be in for a goal
40:53himself
40:54yes he is
40:55he's first for Tottenham
40:57Seewsbury Hall
41:03the score
41:03it did take a deflection
41:06on its way
41:07into the back of the net
41:08late first half chance
41:11for Everton
41:11and Jai
41:11for Barry
41:12yes
41:14finally
41:15for Thierno Barry
41:16teed up by O'Brien
41:19and then fired back in
41:20quite brilliantly
41:22Jewsbury Hall
41:23that'll do for Everton
41:24very nicely
41:25Gimmaras
41:27difficult one
41:29which he's got
41:30all the way in
41:31Gordon
41:33Nalang has made the run
41:34and he's found
41:36what a pass
41:36in it he caught
41:37and it is a record
41:39you'll be very surprised
41:42if this does not result
41:43in a spot kick
41:44Gordon
41:46to make it two
41:47pretty sure
41:50this is going to be a penalty
41:51there is clear movement
41:53towards the ball
41:54ice cool
41:57composure
41:58from
41:59Zian Fleming
42:00and Ekotike
42:03is onto the ball
42:04what a chance
42:04this is
42:05and he's taken it
42:06Liverpool in front
42:08Liverpool still
42:13possession back
42:13very quickly
42:14again with Bradley
42:15and Ekotike is there
42:16and he's put that one
42:17in as well
42:18he has to score this
42:21and Calvin
42:23and Lewin does
42:24Aronson in now
42:28to Stack
42:29Stack in on goal
42:30and it's Gravenberg
42:34way through
42:35and allowed to run
42:36through to
42:37Saboslai
42:37oh that's
42:39coolly done
42:39and it comes from
42:41Stack
42:41Alisson stays
42:42back
42:43and it's Tanaka
42:44Leeds have done it
42:47again
42:48well the astonishing
42:51news of the weekend
42:52really was in the
42:53post-match aftermath
42:54of that Leeds-Liverpool game
42:56with Mo Salah's comments
42:57about feeling like he was
42:58thrown under the bus
42:59and revealing that he had
43:00no relationship
43:00or he didn't have any
43:01communication with the
43:03manager what did you make
43:03of all of that
43:04yeah I felt for Mo Salah
43:05a little bit
43:05I mean he's not
43:06started the last
43:07three games
43:07and when someone
43:08puts a camera
43:09or a microphone
43:10in your face
43:10after the game
43:11when you come off
43:12away from a stadium
43:13and they've not won
43:14again it's a frustrating
43:15time for a sub
43:16to not play
43:16especially a sub
43:18of Mo Salah's
43:18calibre
43:19he'll go down
43:20as one of the
43:20great players
43:21of all time
43:22at Liverpool Football
43:22Club
43:22so the surprising
43:23thing that jumped
43:24off the page
43:24for me
43:25how come
43:26Arnaz Lodz
43:26took him into the
43:27office
43:27and had a
43:28sort of sit-down
43:28conversation
43:29with Mo Salah
43:30he scored over
43:31400 games
43:33Liverpool
43:33scored 250 goals
43:34this guy
43:35PFA Player of the Year
43:37a couple of months
43:37of goals
43:38this guy's a
43:38phenomenal player
43:39not just for Liverpool
43:40but for the Premier League
43:41so I'm really surprised
43:42I know Mo's probably
43:43angry
43:43and I'm in the call
43:44there today
43:44maybe shouldn't have
43:45said some of the stuff
43:45Gabby
43:46but we've been there
43:47ourselves
43:47you don't play
43:48you're angry
43:48you're frustrated
43:49and again the team
43:50struggling
43:50and again maybe
43:51it's because Liverpool
43:52have options
43:52in the forward areas
43:53that Mo's been rotated
43:55or not started
43:56because it feels like
43:57the balance
43:58you know the midfield
43:58are making mistakes
43:59this year
44:00the defenders are making
44:01mistakes at the back
44:01but Mo Salah
44:02he said himself
44:03feels like he's a bit
44:04of the scapegoat
44:05I know what Shea's saying
44:06about thrusting a microphone
44:07but this is a player
44:08who doesn't speak
44:08very often
44:09so this was calculated
44:10he knew what he was
44:12going to say
44:12would have a huge impact
44:13and that now will be
44:15the story
44:15as they head to Milan
44:17to play Inter on Tuesday
44:18I think it was a little bit
44:19calculated
44:20but more his emotion
44:21and I think
44:21you know a lot of damage
44:22has been done
44:23I think he was wrong
44:24in what he was doing
44:24and yet
44:25they should sit down
44:26and listen to each other
44:27because it's not over yet
44:29they all have to
44:30you know get together
44:31whether it's the sporting
44:31director
44:32the ownership group
44:32definitely Mo Salah
44:34and Arna Slotten
44:35say damage has been done
44:36but we can get this right
44:38and it's about the club
44:38it's about the individual
44:39as well
44:40and sort it out
44:41I think Mo Salah
44:42didn't seem to have
44:43people he trusted enough
44:45to discuss this
44:46and say I'm frustrated
44:46what to do
44:47because I'm sure
44:48people would have told him
44:49you know keep it to yourself
44:50speak to people
44:51but don't go public
44:51because it's damage
44:52for everybody involved
44:53and it's been done
44:55but I still think
44:56there is time to
44:57get it right
44:58but they have to do it quickly
44:59and next week
44:59because of course
45:00Brighton is his last game
45:01before he goes off
45:02and plays in AFCON
45:03do you agree with
45:04a great player
45:05someone who's done so much
45:06for Liverpool Football Club
45:07he's won seven major trophies
45:09that the manager couldn't have said
45:10Mo come into my office
45:11let's have a sit down
45:12this is what I think
45:13is going to happen
45:13just relax for a couple of weeks
45:15you'll be back in the team
45:16next week at Brighton
45:16for example
45:17but he's really angry
45:18he's cross of course
45:19and frustrated
45:20that he's not playing
45:21and of course results
45:22aren't going as well
45:22so you know he loves
45:24Liverpool through and through
45:25so it's a tough time for him
45:27but I think a tough time
45:28for Liverpool
45:28and Arnest Lutt as well
45:29well I've got you here Thomas
45:30so we need to talk about
45:31Aston Villa
45:32please
45:32of course Shea
45:33we mustn't forget your time
45:34at Aston Villa as well
45:35Thomas was better
45:37I might add
45:37they're now in a very good position
45:41in terms of the chasing pack
45:43aren't they
45:43in a week it feels like
45:44things have turned around
45:45have they replaced Chelsea
45:46as the third team
45:47if you like
45:48in this title race
45:49maybe but you know
45:50you listen to some of the Villa fans
45:51they look into the top
45:52they probably think
45:53they can overtake
45:53Man City and Arsenal
45:54and that's the mood
45:56around Villa Park
45:56right now
45:57which is so great to see
45:58but you know
45:59this is the emotion
46:00but overall
46:01you have to look at the numbers
46:03as well
46:03because sometimes
46:04I know the management
46:05they look into this
46:06maybe they are
46:07a little bit
46:08overperforming
46:09when you see these stats
46:10unexpected goals
46:11in particular
46:12a stat that
46:12has often been used
46:14there's nothing wrong
46:16in overperforming
46:17but I think
46:17over a long course of time
46:18it's a big challenge
46:19to keep those numbers
46:20to keep the scores
46:22because most of their wins
46:24they have been with one goal difference
46:25and those little margins
46:27I think it's quite hard to maintain
46:29but again
46:30it's about the emotion
46:31making the people happy there
46:32and I really really hope
46:34they climb up the table
46:35would you know Emery
46:35be able to set them up
46:36in any other way
46:37or play in any other way
46:38with this team
46:39do you think
46:39I don't know why he should
46:41because the style of play
46:42is also part of the entertainment
46:44why people love going to Villa Park
46:45you know
46:46there's a high risk
46:47high reward attitude
46:48and this is why we go
46:50to football matches
46:50we want to be entertained
46:51and Villa fans have been entertained
46:53since when Emery's there
46:54I mean Villa Park is rocking
46:55isn't it
46:56absolutely
46:56even more when
46:57Che was there
46:58thank you very much guys
47:01here's how the Premier League
47:03table looks tonight
47:04Crystal Palace are in the top four
47:06after 15 matches
47:07for the first time
47:08in the Premier League era
47:09Brighton avoid back-to-back
47:11home defeats
47:11to move above Sunderland
47:12and Liverpool
47:13West Ham miss out
47:14on the chance to climb
47:15out of the bottom three
47:16following Brighton's
47:17late equaliser
47:18and Fulham have lost
47:19seven of their last
47:20ten Premier League games now
47:22OK
47:23it's time

48:10of brilliance

48:11even if the team
48:12around you
48:13fails to reach up
48:14to your high standards
